- Righhhht, So today I want to chat quickly about my personal opinion on which is better out of Dulux and Farrow and Ball.
This is something I get asked quite a bit when quoting and chatting with people. So thought seeing how I forgot to do my actual work video at the end of the day (Thanks Lee the sparky for keeping me chatting! lol)
So here is my two cents worth!

I had Dulux matched to a F&B colour, nothing like it. Took it back.
I recently switched from delux to johnstons eggshell. Love the way latter flows and working time plus better finish to boot
Decorators who are on the Dulux Scheme “Dulux Select Decorator” like to use Dulux paint, as the benefits of being a Member allow them to offer customers a two year guarantee, obtain paint at a reduced price, and a number of other benefits offered by Dulux to the decorator on their Scheme. I discovered this when I realised all decorators wanted to use Dulux. As a keen painter myself, I realised their reasons were not supported by my own experience, so I tried to find out why decorators hard sell Dulux.
We did F+B colour match on 2 of our rooms with Dulux. We also did F+B in two of them. The colour match ones just don't cut it. The texture is poor. Sure it was more work for our decorator and he whinged about it like you have. And the F+B is certainly NOT as hard wearing (at least the Estate Emulsion one), but the Modern Emulsion is very hard wearing and still looks far more interesting. It's not just about the process! ;-)
This is why you match Farrow and ballache into a good brand of paint (not Dulux) two coats, lovely finish, half the price. Job done 👍🏻
Decorators always whinge about it because they can’t just slap it on and run they have to do it properly and work a bit harder with it.
Farrow and ball for me all day long
No way. I don't know what it is in Farrow and Ball but it has that wow factor. You can get the same colour from dulux but it will be flat and dead. I say this as some one who would never spend that kind of money on a pot of paint.
The colours look synthetic you can’t get the colour matches
It just does not look the same at all !!!
Farrow and Ball is marketing over substance. Too many faffs with it and coverage and durability is very poor. The Dulux colour match software and scanner is rubbish you get a more accurate match by eye.
Valspar
Neither, both are dog shit. Use a European or American brand of paint instead, save money and time and get a much better finish 👍🏻
