Super informative! Been leaning toward modern emulsion for our walls for the maintenance but I feel like I always see ppl talking about estate emulsion so I was on the fence.
Just the did the entire interior of my house in estate emulsion and it does mark easily for high traffic areas. Around light switches and places you may place your hand going up stairs. I used the modern emulsion on the all of the railings and metal work and it is great. The color changes throughout the day and into the evening are incredible and I have used other high end paints but this is a winner.
Looks great..glad to find your channel. I'm just about to use f+b for first time for a customer, and would like to ask did you use f+b primer before final 2 coats.woukd you recomend or is a sand and wash suitable. Cheers
Top job there mate.... may I ask how do you find the modern durable paints going over say a contract Matt that’s been mist coated onto new plaster.... a lot of paint manufacturers recommend thinning down the finish colour to mist with? Is this something you have much experience with? Many thanks and great channel. Marc
I just bought Farrow and Ball for my house. Absolutely stunning paint to use. I had modern emulsion because the kids would absolutely destroy the dead flat matt I really wanted. What’s the best roller to use with the modern emulsion?
Modern emulsion is much better than the estate emulsion but I do find the deep base colours don’t touch up that well but I will say it’s been a good while since I used FB I’m all over the Tikkarila atm 👍🏻
My walls have embossed paper, a picture rail, dado rail and high skirting. In those circumstances, considering the shorter length of each stroke would you still use a roller or just a brush?
F & B would try and sell you the correct base coat first. Then two coats of the colour. This is their system of ensuring the depth of the colours. I am surprised they never “ persuaded “ you take buy it 🤪 . Maybe they have improved their paint formula but when I used it , couple of years ago now admittedly, I thought it was crap. I use Dulux, Armstead and Tikkurila on my work.
Hi Stevie I might have agreed with you a few years ago but this modern emulsion is very good you should try it let me no what you think the other 2 paints you use especially tikkrulia excellent
Look I hated the estate emulsion for literally no durability - but if You understand its purpose - its a great product - but not recommended for regular household. Modern emulsion is probably best paint of this kind on the market here. On the walls very durable - kind of like good old oil based but with look more towards emulsion. No brainer for kitchens or corridors. Thou it has very slight but still nice sheen. And it levels out. It has an alcohol smell to it. Presence of some good solvent means they put some good durable stuff into this paint.
I could listen to this guy all day, his videos teach me a lot, what a lovely fella
