What I think is rarely mentioned in the States (and you didn't mention it either) is that F&B, Edward Bulmer, and a very few others have lines that are much more specialized for very old British interiors that can't take modern paint bc of the reaction of the walls to the plastics in them. Old walls that are over stone or brick need to be able to breathe (literally it's an air flow issue) in a way that the overwhelming majority of houses here don't. So in those circumstances, the high-end UK brands are more necessity than vanity. F&B has "modern emulsion" too but its the original that helped make new paint possible in places that were unworkable for years. It's not like in the UK, everyone is using F&B either. I think here there are people who (like that SNL sketch several years ago) just want the cachet of saying that they've used it, because it's like shouting "LOOK HOW MUCH WE SPENT."

Benjamin Moore matched F&B Drop cloth for me in a cabinet paint and it was a perfect match - I was blown away

Hi. This seemed like an overview of F&B as opposed to BM vs F&B and the differences in the paint, how it brushes on, how it wears over the years etc. Unfortunately, I still have the same BM vs F&B questions that I had prior to watching this video. Would be great if you could do an actual comparison with applying the BM Aura and similar F&B shade of paint and then show the differences. That might actually be a good powerful comparison.

Love F and B. What I have said to many is when you decorate a room , you will spend loads on a soda, carpet, pictures etc etc etc. Yet when it comes to the walls , many look for the cheapest paint they can find.... yet your four walls and ceiling will be the thing you will see the most of.

It’s about the same because they have two choices: matte and more durable matte. Other companies sell ceiling & trim which leave a lot of extra paint vs. one type top to bottom and you can use all of it. I think it’s well worth it. Paint covers your whole house.

I’ve looked at F&B for the huge remodel we did, there were colors I liked but ended up with sherwin Williams since we did a huge remodel, house is 2500 sq feet, we did about 100,000.00 worth of remodeling. I had to cut back somewhere. We did and have always used sherwin Williams. When I found a store that had F&B the sales rep was rude… he said you know it’s expensive. Lol we drove up in our Tesla, he even asked about the car. What a jerk.

Farrow and Ball is indeed SUPERIOR quality paint, as well as being better for the environment. Completely worth every extra cent 😊.

It’s something about the pigments that just look better than any other paint

We did our entire flat in F&B. Everyone keeps repeating this about the 'pigments' but in my opinion unless you go for a noticeable colour, then it's really not that different. Their off-whites and greys etc. are all pretty normal.

Farrow & Ball paint has more complex colorant combinations; more colorant, as well.
That's what a professional house painter told me.
But, the comment in here, about the breathability required from the heritage structures in the UK was apt.

Our Benjamin Moore shop has farrow and ball color match codes in their system so they just pull it up and mix what we want. It comes out identical to the farrow and ball paint wheel I have.

No! As a 20 year professional painter, I can tell you right here, right now F&B is just paint. Nothing special about it and their color palate is just awful.

I'm DIYer and it's easier to put on, it seems to be thicker/creamier therefore easier to get a good coat on. Dulux & Crown are not as good and you have to do two coats. Other companies are now imitating their colour palette but F&B I always use it my lounge/dining & master bedroom. Rest of the house I for something cheaper & pay someone to do it...
