How exciting about the home updates!! Top tip re: paint. We bought paint for our entire house from an independent decorating store as they can mix any paint colour generally. They mixed farrow and ball colours for our entire house in a Johnston’s paint tin. Huge money saver but still great quality paint and the colour you’re after 😏
Sally Boebally Totally agree! We’ve also done this when after a specific colour match and you can save a lot.
And us! Get them to colour match your F&B paint. Same colour waaayyyy cheaper!
When we do painting, we paint cardboard with the tester paints and place on the walls. It then doesn’t mark all the walls. Just a little tip. X
If you look up on Pin-interest Scandinavian decor ideas you’ll find a lot of cream and stone colours and I think that would you suit your room with the wood furniture 😊
A warmer color is more cozy in a bedroom I think. Especially when there is already a lot of grey in the room.
Its having a complete overhaul so potentially not so much grey, but who knows 🤷🏼♀️😂

I'm with Simon on the paint topic. You could also custom mix a colour if you find a shade from F&B that you like just let it mix with a cheaper brand. Them buckets of colour are also very small for 63 pounds to be honest.
Hi Emma. I painted my Bedroom in Charleston Grey 5 years ago by F&B it still looks amazing. It’s definitely wipeable they have a range of paints that do just that! Also Try the Dulux Heritage Range I did this for the rest of the house, it is selected colours only but the finish is richer and very much like farrow and ball texture... I was shocked to see how alike the paints are it’s very easy to paint on excellent finish.
I always paint the house in white inside. The colors are on the doors, each door has a different color. I saw colorful doors in Paraty and loved them. It is a delight to renovate the house.
Hey Emma, my husband is a professional decorator and comes across the issue with the price of F&B paints all the time.
You can’t wipe or rub it if it gets marked so if you do decide to go with It or any other premium brand take your sample to a dulux place that colour matches and get the finish you want in the exact colour , and get a finish you can clean for a fraction of the price x
Jo Flack they do several finishes now including more hardy finishes for high traffic areas and I have the one for kitchens which you can wipe
Indeed they do but they are very expensive so as my husband with 30 years experience says why would you pay more for a Brand if you can get the same from a cheaper paint that will outlast it, is more durable and will match the colour exactly
Jo Flack I guess but I prefer to pay a bit more to save the environment and to have a premium product x
If you want a premium brand and want to pay the extra then you go for it in just saying F&B’s base is clay, therefore is not scrub- able and therefore not ideal if you have dogs , kids using it in a high traffic area. Johnstone’s will colour match perfectly and the impact on the environment would be minimal and probably offset by Emma’s vegan days x
Actually, I've been using F&B for years and you can wipe it down, they have several finishes in their paints and I like a matt look on my walls, but want them wipeable too, so I go for the 'Modern Emulsion'. F&B is a marmite paint; you either love it or hate it!
So excited to see the finished looks. I have manor grey in my kitchen it's gorgeous. Moles breathe in the bedroom (not on all walls with brass features and Mangowood chests) it looks lush, dark floors. It's still very bright. Worsted in the front room on walls with dark/washed navy sofas. We were crying buying farrow and b but the finished look is truly gorgeous and surprisingly easy to clean/wipe etc. I do love the grey you love for your bedroom wall, I would def look at that one for future projects. Beautiful colour and warm.
I too am looking to change up my interiors and have also been looking at paint to do my entrance hallway, which is extremely small, but since having a lighter wood floor put down (the walls are currently painted in 'Dimpse' by F&B) it looks really cold, so I have some paint samples; not unsimilar to yours (loving the Cincinatti for the bedroom) and just a little tip, if you like any of the F&B colours, B&Q will mix them for you, but they can only do this if they've kept hold of one of the old F&B paint chart (my local B&Q had one put aside). This is because F&B have got on to the fact that people are having their colours mixed by B&Q for a fraction of the price and now they have changed their paint colour charts, so they can't be replicated (they can, but you might not get a true colour). Just of note, F&B is actually beautiful paint to use (I have it in white all over the house......apart from the Dimpse which I got in a closing down sale, which I've used in the hallway and a spare bedroom; yeah it's expensive, but in my opinion, worth the money, but I do feel that some of the other branded paints (Valspar, Dulux etc) have really upped their game when it comes to quality and choices of paints and paint finishes. Look forward to see the finished look :)

I LOVE the Hamilton sample, that is my favourite! Warm but not too dark, I think is the perfect colour ;)
We painted our flat couple months ago and unfortunately in Finland is not custom to buy small paints to test colours. We made risky decision to paint in dark green (looked almost like your favourite blue on the wall). But we were so glad we chose the colour, hence it looks absolutely amazing!

I feel like the "moody' Feeling you're talking about with Canadian decorating has a lot to do with (at least in the mountains) just decorating with the colours of nature around us :) So deep woods and blues and forest greens and reds and greys and stuff :) Looks like the outside!
I do love the hague blue because it gives a really good contrast to wood and white furniture and interior, and you have that :) It gives a crisp finish :)
I love how different a lick of paint can do wonders!
If you’re trying to be more eco and everything, F&B and a brand called Earthborn are eco friendly, non toxic and pet friendly 🙌🏻💓💚 I’ve not used B&Q before so not sure about them.

I love the colour ur leaning to. In Vancouver it’s rainy and dreary, should last only till March. We did our bedroom two years ago navy, (not dark blue) on two opposite walls and two white walls so it’s cozy but still light. Navy and white is so striking.
Top tip even though probs too late but a good idea when sampling colours is to paint swatches on paper so you can move around the room to see how it changes in different lights. Also the Matt version of f&b paints mark really easily a even finger prints, plus it takes lots of coats to cover a wall compared to other brands...having said that they have great colours and like you mentioned is slightly better for the environment. Can’t wait to see you what you choose xx
Hi Emma , I a half way through your video and your talking about paints, I have done some reasearch on paints, and I opted for Farrow and ball, yes it is more expensive, yet the colour lasts longer. Maybe it is that I was looking for white paint, but pure white paint, and the paints in Norway, that does not exist, all had a grey, or yellow undertone. I found allwhite in farrow and ball, and having to order it from UK , expensive, yet it was the only paint my husband actually liked. More expensive paint last longer and wont fade as much, as you are just buying paint and not a water mixed version. Well that is just a tip of what I have learnt when buying paint. It could also be, that the paint in Norway, is a different quality from UK. right off to watch the second half on the bus to work.
I wanted to paint one of my rooms with F & B Hague (is that right?) Blue...beautiful colour and just what I wanted but NOT the price soooo....trotted over to the custom paint mix in B & Q and they did the perfect mix for me. They take a scan of any colour you want to match and the paint mix thingy does it's do. Perfect !! Save quite a few quid too. Lovely. Welcome home btw...loved the Canada trip.
Interested to watch the decor updates as they progress! Have used F & B paints for years, from way back when they were mail order only, and the quality of pigment is what stands out - tho' my husband is not as keen. By the way, B & Q is selling 3 for 2 cans of paint at the moment. Also, nice to see some warmer toned furniture. Tastes change all the time, with our homes as with clothing. Have fun!

Liked Hamilton and sapphire salute, love the new chest of drawers. We may be cold in Canada in the fall and winter but we definitely have bright sunny days which can fool people into thinking it’s nicer outside then it really is. I always travel in my roots sweats on the plane in the classic salt and pepper like your hoodie.
omg im so excited for home updates. btw if you have a brewers decorator store near you, you can get discounts on paints. they also do colour matching. I tested the farrow and ball and they are lovely, but consistency/quality wise, i find Mylands and Little Greene nicer, but its all personal preference

Emma I have just painted my bedroom with valspar paint from B&Q and the will colour match any farrow & ball paint (they have a range dedicated to colour matching Farrow & Ball) I have painted one wall in our bedroom Stiffkey Blue and i love it. Happy decorating i look forward to seeing the end results.
If you find a F&B colour that you like take a sample to the B&Q mixing desk and they can pix a pot for you. They’re still really good quality and a lot cheeper
Excited with the pop of colour coming up. I like that you found a paint that's water base so better for the environment but I would have to agree with Simon that the price is a little hefty for a can of paint.
Do you find the Arket jacket wash well in terms of the down filling since it's upcycled? I find sometimes that the down filling will lump up in certain areas of the jacket after washing.
I haven't washed it so I don't know I'm afraid - but I would say the best thing to do to clean it would be to wipe it down with a cloth and warm water, I personally wouldn't put it in the washing machine 👍🏼

Just done my whole lounge in the B&Q Antibes and it looks fabulous. I was worried it would make the room look smaller but I don’t think it does.

I recommend Valspar paint if your B&Q stock it, they do amazing shades of blue. I painted a chest of drawers in the shade ‘Indian ink’ and I am obsessed x
Hey Emma, we have a service in South Africa by Dulux where you can choose the base paint and they can colour match to any other brand shade. Also a tip when redecorating is to pick all your furniture and fabrics before your paint because it is the cheapest and easiest thing to change.
So thrilled you are doing some decorating as we just moved into our flat that we just bought. So really looking forward to any decorating tips you can share. I'm also with Simon, 62 pounds for paint is insane lol.

All the walls and ceilings of our small house are like the darkest grey on your wall, except for the bathroom, which is black ceiling and the small part of the wall that is not white tile. The house is 95 yr. old in a Victorian style.
I repainted my bedroom in a mid/dark grey and I love it! Very warm and comforting colour, and a perfect neutral really. Loved your Canada vlogs by the way!

Hi Emma, We’ve just painted one wall in our living room Hague blue and it’s so amazing, we only bought the £46 tin and didn’t even use half of it as it covers really well, so I know it’s expensive but it’s a lot better than Dulux which we always use, in my opinion! Can’t wait to see your room transformations! :)
Oooh I love the teal B&Q option for the living room, really nice! With your developing interest 'which I think is brilliant!' in choosing sustainable options in your wardrobe etc, are you considering doing the same for interiors. Picking antique/vintage furniture from auctions, on the net and larger charity shops (some specifically do furniture)? Potential mini video series? As always love you videos! x
B&Q valspar will mix any f&b colour you want and looks exactly the same I have off black in my office mixed by b&q and the 700 valspar paint is very very good :) xx

Don't love the price of F&B but love the colours and the animal names, Elephant's Breath, Mouse's Back, Dove Tail.... Love the length of the down coat and that it is recycled/recovered down, yes, it is perfect for Canadian winters.
I'm really interested in your colour decision because I'm planning a gray wall in our bedroom as well. Is B&C also an environment friendly brand for colours? Farrow and Ball is so easy and good to work with, really like it but it's sooo expensive... 🙈
Look at Valspar in Thundercloud. It's a beautiful navy that also has a grey shift. I've used it in my half subway tiled bathroom

F&B prices 🙊 I love the Colour Courage paint sample -warm-toned will look great with the wood furniture might have to see if I can get that colour for my place.
Hi Emma just a little tip. Go to Johnson’s paints. Take the number of a f&b paint shade you like. They mix it for you at a third of the price.
How about dark trims in the bedroom and a complimentary lighter shade on the walls? I love that look
Emma - Paint Tip - B&Q Valspar brand is excellent and will match any Farrow Ball colour. They allow will do sample pots which are 3 times bigger than F&B for around £3. They will also scan any piece of fabric or object to match or have a lighter or darker shade. The quality of Valspar is far superior to Farrow and Ball. I have just painted my whole living room a dark airforce blue/green and it looks amazing with my navy velvet sofa and cream accessories to lighten it up, as my fireplace is a light (putty) stone I wanted it to be really cosy and inspired after a trip to California! PS With Valspar paint go for the Gold level - which is wipeable and scrubbable MATT paint. £39 for 5L Very useful having 3 children!!! Good luck with your decorating ideas!!!
Don’t know if you can get the app Houzz, but on there you can go to a room of choice and browse beautiful photos of rooms totally decorated with little tags on the articles and paint colours, so if you love one, you click on the tag and it tells you the make and colour of the wall colour.

Can b&q Cincinnaty be painted on the wall? I saw on the tin it’s multisurface but for doors and radiators
I believe (but may be wrong as don't fully recall the details of this video 🤦♀️) that we had two different paints in the same colour so that we could paint the radiator to blend in with the wall. So a wall paint and a radiator paint. Although some of the paints we used were also appropriate for walls and radiators so it could be either. 😂

Emma - I love f and b paint but it’s really pricey as you say. We took the sample pot to b and q and they colour matched it with their valspar range - really durable and lovely coverage and half the price! Good luck with the painting! 😘

I've only ever used water based paint!! Maybe paint is a lot more expensive in the UK than Australia, but that 62 quid can of paint will only paint one room I'm guessing? Either way, a dark paint is going to make all your artwork and the timber furniture pop!! It'll be gorgeous. X

Love the paint ideas...and the wood furniture. I use a company here called Sherwin Williams. They used to carry Laura Ashley paints...I LOVED those shades.
I think you should do the whole bedroom in the darker color as you have so many white built ins to break it up. I think you will find it very cosy.
I’m an interior designer from Northampton and we always steer clear of F+B as the quality and consistency is really poor for the price. Try paint + paper library colour squid ink is a good one and also maybe zoffany paints are really good too.

Have you considered Valspar paint? Having spent what felt like a billion pounds in tester pots, we decided to go will valspar. It wears well, it’s wipeable and covers better than lots of paints cos it has primer in it already xx

No update since I showed you guys last. Were waiting until we have had some rain (probably after winter) until we do anymore so we know it is fully water tight 👍🏼
My choice for your bedroom is the lighter bluish grey swatch next to the open door in the 2nd row of 3 with the very light contrasting grey at the top row furthest from the open door. That way you go darker but not totally dark. 2nd choice, the dark tiel from the upper row furthest from the open door with something lighter. Again as everyone has said ... A good paint shop can mix the colours you want , also in water-based for a better price. Happy going a bit bonkers with paint colours!!!
Not quite sure if this can be done in the UK too, but here in the US any hardware store paint brand (Valspar/Behr) can be mixed/color matched to F&B colors. The pigments in F&B are well worth the $ but if you want the vibe without the quality it is possible. You might want to try F&B Inchyra Blue no. 289 it might be more your style than Hague Blue. Also, if you have a small space a dark color can make the space feel larger ... you may want to reconsider painting just one wall as accent since that is a trend well past.

The Blue Green, Number Two især what I would go with! 😍 that's stunning!
I just hate down in coats, it bulks together so you get cold patches and then the feathers start poking out of the coat.
I haven't had that problem, aside from if I sit in the car/train, some of the bottom layers some times clump together if its for a long time but it can be unclumped (🤷🏼♀️😂) easily enough.

That wooden chest of drawers is awesome! But even more I like your old, mirrored one because I want the same kind of chest of drawers sooo bad. Unfortunately they cost a small fortune, at least here in Finland 🤣
Have you tried Little Greene , slightly cheaper than Farrow and Ball. Really lovely paint, water based.

I get that you’re fed up with the rain, it’s been raining for a week now here 😒 Love the new chest of drawers, the wood looks really good. F&B I’ve always ignored due to the crazy price, we always use Crown or Dulux, or get a specific colour mixed. The deep blue/green is lovely, Lily Pebbles did her lounge and kitchen cabinets in Hague Blue and they do look stunning. I think it’s like fashion isn’t it, your style changes and evolves as does your home decor choices and it’s nice to change things up. Hope the weather was good to you for the one day you came up here to Scotland. 😊💋

All my paint colours in my house are farrow and ball however I use the valspar paint at B&Q where they will match ANY colour you give them! So take the colour card from farrow and ball into B&Q and they will match it. It’s really good paint too, goes on really nicely and can be scrubbable if needed. I do agree with the advantage of f&b being water based though!
F&B all the way - read about what goes into their paint to make it worth the price. I've been sold on the quality over the years and happily pay the price knowing its worth it. I wouldn't take people's advice on the colour to paint your house either - its very personal and anyone saying they don't like what you choose don't have to live with it!! x

Love the mango wood dresser, beautiful! Good luck choosing wall colours, I find it a very difficult. My hubby is a painter and decorator but he’s no help when it comes to choosing, he just does the work 😊 Oh and black jacket is fab too! 👍🏻xx
Hi Emma, I’m with Simon on the paint. F&B Hague is in many vloggers homes, and becoming boring I might say. My opinion is that it’s far too expensive and there are more cost effective brands out there, some will colour match anyway. Also if you decorate every 3 years you don’t need it to last forever 😏. I understood that emulsion paint is water based anyway??? Satin and gloss have solvents in them I believe. I only think this because emulsion paint in brushes can be washed with plain water, whilst satin and gloss need white spirit to clean the brushes. 🤷♀️

Hey Emma, most paints are water based nowadays. Even the cheap ones
