My dad was a trucker in the 1970's he drove for Roadway....i was a teenager at the time and loved these old tractors...remember when UPS used these without sleepers.....
Put a handyman jack to lift the cab I love the IH trucks drove them for years wish I had one thay never left me on the side of the road God bless you for keeping the tradition alive
HEY WILEY. YAAAY you're like a really cool grandpa...ooh I see a new hat there...cool...my dad had a 1980 transtar. I was a baby boy but I remember it he used to drive for north American van lines..he would drive the whole thing down our residential street and come scoop me and my mom up and take us cross country with him .
Hey it’s Wiley! Hanks friend from Hamilton farms! Hello sir. You are a clever ,funny, man with great knowledge of the old semis and tractors! I’m subscribing to ur channel and hope it takes off for u.
Greetings from Cornwall in the UK, just wanted to let you know that was a brilliant video Wiley, 1st One I have watched, no nonsense or tomfoolery, just straight to the point......have subbed and look forward to watching the rest of your videos,
I'm glad the ol truck started!! The law care guy is standing in the background like he's ready to whoop butt? A man would think he would be happy to see his grandfather's truck running and want to be a part of it. Great video y'all!!!!!!
@@DontbeWily u are old school mechanic. No computer diagnostics or internet info. Just trial n error and knowledge from hands on. Great job sir. I’m sure Hank is lost without you. Lol 😊
Brings back memories , I drove one like this in the nineties. big cam cummins , ten speed fuller. Moved a lot of freight with it ! That Ford was either a 71 or 72.
Fantastic truck, I love them Transtars. Hey Wiley you are a credit to us oldies, just get out there and do it. Great video, thanks, take care, all the best from England, UK.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Congratulations Wiley and Jacob. You got it running. Yeah!!!!!!! Good job after all those years of sitting. Good old truck yet. The intl loadstars are hard to come by now days. You got it running and that is what counts. Thanks for everything Wiley and Jacob. Was a fun video. The Iowa Farm Boy.
Want to really go nostalgic? Let's talk about the R190 with the 450 Red Diamond 5x3. That was the first big truck I ever drove when I was in high school. And I agree about the Loadstars and the "glug glug" sound those 345's made.
At one time back when I was still a child, "INTERNATIONAL TRANSTAR II" were a number one choice amongst OWNER OPERATORS. I knew of four families myself who owned one, Most of them are either dead or retired by now. But they all told me they were inexpensive to own and maintain, And they were tough as nails then. "MY GOD, I LOVE WATCHING OTHERS SHOW A LOVE TOWARDS THESE OLD WORK HORSES OF YESTERYEAR."
Awesome Video, Keep up the good Work It’s great to see Old Machinery and Trucks that Have Been Abandoned Be Brought back to Life Either for Show or for Work, Everything was made differently back then. Great Video👍🏽👏🏽
So glad i found your channel great content and to the point not a lot of joke telling and story telling just great content plain and simple thanks so much for taking the time to video and share
Wiley, use your truck to pull the cab up so you can get at the engine. May need 4 batteries too. Lawn service guy needs to trim the stickers in your way.
Nothing really said Willey on UA-cam intro, had to find out. Got into the video, Gosh that sounds like Willey.!! Great to see and hear you again! Always great start videos! Total best of luck my friend!
My dad started out in a International in the mid 60's as an independent. Then later a Ford cabover, both being worn out. He was leased to Dealers Transit. Around 68-69 he got a much newer F model Mack. With a powerful V8 & twin exhaust. Then he leased on to Melton Truck Lines. Love those old cabovers and learned to drive in them. My truck was a late 80's K100A Kenworth with an industrial KT450 Cummins 15Sp.
Nice!! That's what I used to call an International "lamp shade" because the grille looks like a lamp shade. Great job getting it started!! 👍👍👍 Definitely worth restoring if he wants to....hopefully he will. Thanks for sharing, Wily!
Course I started out driving lawnmowers and then tractors but when I got my CDL and 92 that is what I practiced on was a 1979 TranstarII - company kept it around and headway over 1,000,000 miles, but the odometer was busted on it. But that suspension would break your teeth. Great solid old truck
Agreed on early statement likin' - used to not so much, but now that i'm older, a treasure. Especially this IH - one owner. I done had to run my 1979 Porsche 928 like that, squirtin' go juice in a pulse to run it cuz the first pump in tank was froze. Hope she gets to rollin' n shinin' sometime. Verified worthy!
I used to retread the rires for those also the trailer tires and drove one of those to deliver retreads of all sizes including all size of earth mover tires.
Think of a cabover like a narrow front end farm tractor it can get into and out of places a wide front tractor or long Peterbuilt cant even think of doing or capable of. Good stuff here Wiley
Normans Brokerage, was on Old Polk City Rd. (Now a jewelry store) Their company snapshot shows inactive with one truck, but looks like they mostly brokered out loads.
Good job getting it started that is one of my favorite cab over the Cab over I really like it is the k 100 Kenworth that truck is making oil I really like when you say that is so cool keep up the hard work my friend be safe
Love these ol' transtars. Wish more guys would put these old cabovers back on the road. It's a treat seeing them compared to all the plastic stuff on the road these days.
I better never meet Wiley. He would be upset with me about 7 years ago I scrapped a truck like that. The cab went to scrap everything else was saved. I did not cut one bolt everything was torn apart so it could be used again. Most if that truck has been used now on other trucks. Even the frame was taken apart crossmember by crossmember. Thank you for another nice video. That Ford is a 67 to 72 model.
The first truck I drove was a international cab over for Schneider back in 2001 it had a semi flat floor I was lucky to be able to site on the bed and kick my boots off had my mini fridge and my tv vcr combo 23cent a mile is what they started you out at I think after 6 months you got a penny raise I quit as soon as my contract was over but been driving trucks ever since
@@DontbeWily We actually bought two....one was a cab-over Eagle and the other was 4300 Eagle Brougham conventional. The cab-over was around 73 grand and the Brougham was just over 79 grand. we hauled lumber and cattle for close to 13 years with them.
I was thinking about it. I could not see the stater. It was so dark in there as you know If cab would have tilted over it would have made it easier Thanks for watching and Good luck on your truck
videos such as this, that I just watched, is precisely why cable tv is a waste of money. great content. Jake and Wiley, keep it up.

Drove one just like it for Poole Truck Lines .Poole had 5000 of them they were all green and white 300 thousand they were put on local runs
I picked up my 79 International Eagle cab-over in Haines City Fla. she was brand new. 400 Cummins 13 spd.

It would have cost more than this one with it being a eagle.
