Two of the most genuine Christian guys I have ever met. Thanks for dusting the old girl off and getting her going again. A long road ahead but that’s how memories are made. Thanks guys for the smiles this week.
'79 3/4 ton 4whldr Camper Special. You have a jewel of a truck. The 300 6banger is one of the best simple motors Ford ever built. The trans set-up will fit 289, 302, 351 C, and 351 Winsor blocks. If you put a throttle-body fuel injection system on it you'll be pleased with both mileage and power. I don't remember if the motor mounts will interchange. Generally, the C-specials had 4.10 gears because they were built to haul loads. A frame change from the Hi-Boy Fords started in late 1977 so this one has a wider rear axle, a reverse-rotation front differential with integral power-steering instead of the old ram-assist unit. To lift this truck to Hi-boy specs requires a new set of positive-arc springs for the pre-1976 4x4. Then you must install a dropped drag link and change to longer shocks. Then you can remove the anti-sway bar from the front and the truck will work as it should with a 4" lift. Once accomplished it may require a slightly taller block under the rear springs to set the rear height to your liking. Other than that are just minor adjustments such as repositioning brake-line brackets. I built up a number of old Fords like this and earlier. The frame is unbeatable and outclasses in strength all others. That's why Bob Chandler used them on his early "Bigfoots".
The ignorance of standing right in front of the spark plug holes knowing there’s fluid in there and it exploding in his face had me rolling. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard. Dudes a trooper for getting soaked not once but multiple times just to get the shot😂

Let’s go Landon, 🤓, I had the 1979 F 150 with 351 M lock out hubs Orange & white with Lock Box on side, automatic, These were nice pickups and would still do everything as most new ones today
Let’s Go From Kentucky. I have a 1985 F-150 with basically the same exact 300 engine and a NP-435 4 speed transmission.. My engine quit running a couple of years ago and a local garage told me that my engine was bad. I think that it was very odd that my engine always had a great oil pressure and no knocking. They said that after a compression test that out of 6 cylinders that I only had 1 cylinder making any compression. After some serious consideration on my part, I decided that I wanted my truck brought back home. Several years ago I had another 1985 Ford truck that had a bad cylinder head that smoked just like the truck was in the video with the white steam coming through the exhaust pipe. One thing to remember concerning the removal of the 300 cylinder heads is that you must use the staggered removal of the head bolts or the cylinder head will possibly warp if you don’t go through the process. I definitely want to follow your progress on this truck because of the similarities to my 1985 Ford truck. At least everything was very well lubricated after the engine broke loose.
My Uncle had a 79 ford econoline starcraft conversion van ( camper ) He bought it new... ( had it on the rd from 79 to 1995) canadian vehicle Over 840,000km , oil changed every 5000km.plugs every 50,000km. Only believed using FORD OIL AND FORD FILTERS also only motorcraft plugs.. NO ADDITIVES oil/gas.. Ran premium gas...that van ran like an absolute champ...they had it shipped overseas..he toured all of europe and the US, also all over Canada, finally the body rotted and was left in the back yard... A gent bought the van..used engine for a lobster boat... And it ran for 3 seasons before a bearing turned and it started knocking... The 300 straight 6 was fords absolute toughest engine..however harder on gas than his 1978 460 camper special he owned also. love your vids. Keep the old rigs out of the fields and on the roads !
This is so cool. Guessing your up north somewhere by the lobster boat and rust comments. Love it man so glad you shared. Thanks for the comment and support.
