That old Freightliner reminded me of when I was a kid my dad drove over the road and the company he drove for had them old Freightliners, I used to love riding with him listening to that big old diesel humming and groaning along! My memories still hold on even though dad's gone. Thank you for doing this video it really brought a year to my eye and a smile to my face!!
Probably 12.7 430/470 hp. That interior is in great shape just needs cleaning. Got that button tuck, which was fancy. The fuel gauge looked like it was on or close to empty it may not be getting fuel from the tank. Or it may have a low water shut down sensor not letting it start. That truck just needs a good service and probably new wheel seals and new tires and it will be good to go.
I only drove a Series 60 12.7 for a couple days back in the 90's. To me it did not feel much different than the CAT I normally drove. Very flexible operating range.
Great video, Wiley and Jacob. I enjoy watching you guys on these will it start videos. I like how you talk on your videos about what you are going to do next. Thanks for sharing!!
Those Volvos are still good tractors the 60 series Detroit that's in the Freightliner were very good Motors. It should have a horsepower rating on a metal plate on the valve cover
Wiley, I wouldn’t worry about the brakes being spongy these trucks from the 90s on it up have a limit break power when the trailer is disconnected and your bobtailing so you don’t lock the brakes up so easy😊
Look on the valve cover. There is a tag on the side that gives you all the engine info. Some freightliners have a tag in the glove box. You have to have the radiator full also. It has a low water sensor in the tank that shuts the engine down with low water. Good Luck with your Projects. Stay Safe out There 🇺🇸
Wily, you may have set that brake (yellow knob) after the test drive, but I didn't see it or hear it. Don't forget to set that brake, please, brother, before you get out of the truck. I love your videos. 46 year trucker here retired last year.
Still a solid looking truck, a person could still make a good hauler out of that. Glad you fellas could get it running 🔧🔩 Enjoyed the video and keep 'em coming
We had one that was sitting for about 8 years with the same engine and was a Freightliner Columbia. Wasn't getting fuel I ended up pressurizing the fuel tank with compressed air, unhooked the fuel line at the filter. Sediment at the bottom of the fuel tank broke loose. After that I started the truck and ran good.
Wily, when the tac isn't moving as in when ya first tried to get it running, its not getting a signal to the computer that its running or even trying... when ya turn the key on, and that tac doesn't flicker a bit,,, check wires on the battery right off.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Good going wiley and Jacob , you got that one running and not too bad a unit. Got life left in it yet. Thanks Wiley and Jacob. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.

I drove for this company back in 2014, I had a 9200i international with a twelve seven Detroit. I drug a dry van out of the same field you’re in right now PIERCE NATIONAL was the company.
I like the freightliner I can see why over the road drivers like the Volvo for the room and visibility Got 4 Volvos vids coming out. International will follow Walk around the remaining trucks and his shop equipment on the Thank you for watching
In my experience, the super ten was only active with cruise control on. Had to convince the O/O trainer (he was buying his truck from the company) that's how it worked. He called me crazy. Proved it in many other trucks to many other drivers. Even a company mechanic in a company (modified) tow truck. No one believes me.
when you are firing off the either. once the truck fires up... stab that fuel peddle to the floor... also Detroit has a ecm power wire that is usually at the batteries that needs to be connected
Buy the way love the channel and you guys my best friends dad started with a shop in thier back yard as we were coming out of elementary school he built a commercial building and we built old rmodel macks mr.claud would buy a bunch of old fleet trucks so.e wrecked, burnt or both 20 to 50 trucks fleets and we would build as many as we could some of the best years of my life.
I drove for Ploof Trucklines Flatbed division out of Tampa Fl .Used to run those old Volvo's that had no Air conditioning in them hauling 48,500 pounds of Sheetrock from port Tampa to Miami ...Talk about Hot in the Cab .be about passing out behind the wheel hot
Good morning Wily and Jacob 🌞 that thing is making a oil 👍. Just came across your channel this morning, I remember you and Hank working together. Didn't know you had a channel. Congrats on getting the Volvo running, she looks and sounds great. Good luck in all that you do and God bless 👍✌️🇺🇲
Unusual or old equipment is far more interesting in my opinion. Most of these trucks appear typical. Speaking for myself I'm probably subscribed to 200 channels. I don't subscribe arbitrarily there has to be something very interesting. You, Wally are interesting on your own and entertaining to watch.
a tattle tale sign that points to an ecm communication issue is what i noticed in the video, and that was the fact that none of the gauges were working.when u wer first trying to get it to start.
I drove for Joule Yacht transport out of Clearwater Fl back in the early 1990's. Ran 48 states and Canada I would be gone out on the road for up to two months at a time by myself
I don't know bout Detroit but cummins n14 the tac moves as soon as you turn the key. That let's you know the ecm is active. I didn't see the tac move at all in this video. Love your vids keep them comin
Nice old trucks ! Parked on plastic to help protect the underside ! DDEC Detroit 60 series is computer controlled unlike earlier series Detroit 2 stroke engines. Have a Blessed Day
If antifreeze is low the sensor in the bottom of the tank will keep it from starting on some models. Other models it will shut engine down after a min or so
I’m not saying this to be mean! I’m just being honest, you have a better video personality than that other fella and I’d rather hang out with you. 😆 let’s do lunch afterwards.
Im sure you can take that truck and start driving it locally and go over it little by little until you get right. I know someone will buy it. It seems good enough to get started with. All engines will vent some blow by out the oil fill with the cap removed.
those fld120 are great trucks i drove a 91 with a 435 detroit serie 60 13spds and it was a great truck. also drove a 1996 fld 120 with the 425cat 3406 with 18spds and it was also a great truck. i like those shakers! great video ❤
Why are you are a super genius on this stuff and you’re a lot better than watching Hank with his dumb jokes it’s about time to the guy that’s in mechanic knows his way around that stuff. He still falling around with his little tractor but anyways, good luck to you and I’ll keep watching your thing. It’s really good. He always got good info and I like the way you can bring that old stuff back to life. God bless you brother.
The 12.7L only has a horsepower capacity of 380-455 at 1,800 RPM, while the 14L is a bit higher at 425-515 at the same RPM. Similarly, the rated torque on the 14L increased, coming in at 1,550-1650 lb-ft. at 1,200 RPM, up from 1,350-1,550 lb-ft on the 12.7L.

Those trucks will sell quick!
Wiley your life time of knowledge is worth more then any college course.😊😊😊.
Thanks and thank you for watching
Damn, I remember when I drove a BRAND NEW 2000 FLD. This video made me feel old, Man.
Thank you for giving these trucks a new lease on life! Sure this Freightliner looks rough, but all of these are solid trucks!
Probably 12.7 430/470 hp. That interior is in great shape just needs cleaning. Got that button tuck, which was fancy. Sitting here sick as Hell!
This makes it all good now!
Holy cow! The inside of that FLD is clean! Now that goes to show that driver kept that rig clean!
So, now that I've seen all the trucks have been cleaned spotless inside to sell.
Try getting in touch with Tim Gentry because he's got a couple FLD's!FED'S!! Great job y'all!!!
Those Volvos are still good tractors the 60 series Detroit that's in the Freightliner were very good Motors. It should have a horsepower rating on a metal plate on the valve cover

I carry a big Harbor Freight tool kit in my truck. They work just fine and don’t break the bank. Lifetime warranty too!
This would be a good addition to the Gentry and sons fleet.
Wiley, I wouldn’t worry about the brakes being spongy these trucks from the 90s on it up have a limit break power when the trailer is disconnected and your bobtailing so you don’t lock the brakes up so easy😊

She sounds real good.A little TLC would make that a descent truck
Good job Wiley, you are just straight up honest with the senior card mishaps and thats just fine, we are the same age and i play mine every day.

Love your videos. Here in New Zealand I have a C120 Century with a C15 Cat. It had 2 x 70 gal tanks and diesel is $8 a gallon 😢
Ooouch.

I love a flatop FLD with stacks. They are Comfortable and reliable
Nice to see you got that bad boy running Wiley enjoy the video 📹

Love the look of these freightliners, when I was a kid and wanted to be a truck driver this is the truck I wanted
Good to see trucks run again after been sitting for years
That field would be good learning how to drive too! Good work Wily and Jacob! I'm looking forward to the next videos! 🚛🚛🚛
This is a nice truck for Timmy Gentry! Only the engine alone is $7500 worth!!!!
I like the freight shaker,
Those fld are great trucks. 1 of the few Freightliner i would own
I was driven a 1997 Freightliner one of the best trucks I ever drove I loved it
i had to bypass the computer fuel pump wire for that reason on a cabover and put a toggle switch in the cab it ran for years that way
I'm pleased the truck didn't beat you and you will have similar success with the rest. Looking forward to the whole series.
Thank you for watching
wiley your videos are awesome glad you got it running and driving freightliner are great trucks i own an black FreightLiner hat
Lol
That counts
Thanks for watching
I love those bodystyle freightliners!! Those are my favorite trucks!💗💗 They've always been my favorite!! But good god that horrendous buzzer!!😵
Nice video. I enjoy how laid back your approach is to your videos.
Grandpa you're amazing, great job wish I could join you man
It'll start Wiley, it's a Detroit and it's a Freightliner I've driven too many of these for them not to start no matter, how long they sit
Great too see everything worked on and hopefully some of those trucks will hit the road once again.
We had one that was sitting for about 8 years with the same engine and was a Freightliner Columbia. Did you notice the cooling fan not spinning. Love your videos Wiley keep it going.
The cooling fan will not start turning until the clutch on it engages once the engine reaches full operating temperature
Probably an electric fan, will start spinning when engine reaches temp.

The best thing about Hank and Wiley they never foreget to buy their woman another chainsaw for her birthday😂😂😂❤
Alot of people are looking for older trucks. The price has to be right. You will need to put 20,000 to 30,000 thousand into it if the motor is good.
and still get 7 mpg or so if you are lucky, and not be able to do Cali runs. Great farmer truck, tho. Surepised that the AC still blows cold.

My guess would be (as a company trk) 370 HP upratable to 430? What the heckle. I drove these 20+ years ago. Not a bad ride at all.
