I just found your channel yesterday and I subscribed because, you remind me of my favorite grandpa and you’re doing what I can’t do. Working with Jacob, out there enjoying the time to see if things will start.. don’t you listen to the bad comments. Live your life, smile and be kind.. and enjoy every moment. Keep on doing what you know is right.
It takes a lot more know-how to get a vehicle running thats been sitting for 20 years than people realize. Very possible that it wont, then you have to check off everything that it might be. Always enjoy your channel Wiley! Keep up the great work! 👍
Anyone that lives any place that gets snow knows how to get that brake unstuck. Hit the brake shoe!!! its stuck to the drum, knocking the bottom one loose will usually make the top shoe pop when you try to drive it. if not hit the top shoe as well.
Wily if you look back at your video to 25:25 you can see the pry slots in the shoe and if you stick a wedge in there with your pins in it will sometimes pop the shoe away from the drums. Also, you might try the hammer tap on that starter but don't beat it to hard just a love tap should do it probably a stuck solenoid plunger the part that the electromagnet actuates.
Some people cant do what you do Willy and it must make them mad. If it was so easy there wouldn't be any vehicles sitting around at all! Keep up your good work and the enjoyable videos!
Don't worry about that nasty comment Wiley and Jake. I've been a life long mechanic myself, I absolutely enjoy your videos, you even got me saying "it's Makin oil" at work, all my peers love it. Not just anyone can do what you do. It takes alot of skill and patience. You have a good nose for narrowing down the problem quick, and you identity all the parts of a machine like knowing the back of your hand. You do amazing work out there fam. God Speed!
Hope all is well, and that your making oil, I’ve been looking out for your next video, I enjoy the entertaining balance between real life mechanics, making do in the field and your dry sense of humour. Looking forward to a future video
You always have somebody that's a know it all, but can't turn a door knob. It's not easy doing what you do. I'm 70, and my trucking days are over. You couldn't pay me to get back in one. Good luck . New driverless truck.
Your battin' average is goin' up there Wiley and i am pullin' hard for ya and enjoying every minute of it. I know that the nay sayers dont bother ya non but you know as well as i do that when they get pompous like that, thay probably can't even get that old girl in gear. Keep up the good work buddy.
Wiley you're videos are a lesson and entertaining to watch, your knowledge of heavy equipment is better than some ignorant troll comments, dont sweat them,do you
Thank you very much . I am not worried about some of these comments. I will leave them all up except the ones that’s negative about owners of equipment and just down right nastiness Thank you for watching
10:55 VNLs usually have a towing hook in one of the storage cubbies under the sleeper from factory, but with the mileage on that rig no guarantee it's still there.
11:39 It takes a fair bit of know-how to get a derelict vehicle started again. I doubt most people could manage it. I do love the idea of spotlighting some will-it-runs though! If we weren't several states apart I'd be willin' to come out on a weekend and help on one heh heh
I enjoy watching your videos, I know I can do what you do, but I'm gonna watch you as well, you might do something I don't know, and I can use it as a learning experience. Keep em coming Sir
Jacob, your a Stand up Son! My Father is also 80 Years Young along with Wiley, he turned 80 on the Twenty Second of May By the Grace of God. I wish I could get Him out of His House Like you Getting Dad out of the Convalescent Home a Few Hours a Week.😂😂. I Love What you Fella’s do
I remember very vividly way back when, I was at Fort Benning Georgia we had a storm, it was early in the morning and still dark but the lightening made it light up like day. They kept us inside the billets and we had to study our little blue infantry handbooks. I was so young and handsome! Lol😅
Think you needed a washer on the bolt for caging bolts you may be just bending the booster housing without the washer .they normally have a large washer under the nut .
41:37 healthy engine, trans at least. Good truck to put back on the road. Needs tires, brake work, fluids, starter, but not much else by the looks of it. Oh, and the radio needs fixed. Most important!
@@DontbeWily Haha. Ye for me I dont want much for creature comforts, but aircon and fm radio are major things for me. I love blastin' out my classic rock! 🤘🎸
Next time after caging the brakes take a small sledgehammer and smack the side of the drum and brake pads maybe that will break the friction between the drum and the brake shoes. Great job and to the guy who said anyone can do what you do with two batteries I don’t see him doing it and most likely the first spider or bug gets on him he’ll go running home to his computer screen.
If you got a small 12 volt compressor or any kind of compressor that you can run bring you a female air fitting. Take a plug out of any of them air tanks and put that air fitting in it fill it up. it's a whole lot easier than Cajun the brakes. This whole wrecker driver told you that.
30:50 Probably an ABS related code. Volvo was one of the first to fit ABS and that truck is within a few years of USDOT mandating it on tractors anyway.
William French is right. Wiley needs to get some safety glasses and a ballpeen hammer. And hit the brake drums with the brakes released. I have done this many times on rusted and stuck brakes shoes with enough hammering the brakes will release. But always use safety glasses because the drum are cast steel. But I have never cracked a drum yet.
Time to catch up on videos now that I'm parked for the weekend. Wiley is right Jacob. 42 yrs and counting over the road, if you get in a hurry, that's when things turn left and take you through Arkansas. Doc Martin
for the tire that won't release the brake you have to hit drum brake with a hammer till the brake release by it self you have keep watching the brake pads for movement
I enjoy watching your videos. The guy was right, but he is laying around watching you tube videos and commenting on them. I’m an old retired truck owner and operator. I’m not able to do that anymore. Keep on going long as you can.
My will it start was so anti climatic. Put in Two batteries. Pulled out the air filter. Helper Hit the key I was ready with some either…. The engine rolled over three times and fired right up
Don’t pay those clowns that give you grief any attention, those type of people probably live in their moms basement and weigh 400 pounds and haven’t see sunlight since Ester was a pup. You do just fine with what you’re doing.
Wiley their are people out there that stair at a screen all day they haven't walked the walk they just talked the talk YOU are a purdy good mechanic these people need to get out and do something like you do not just look at a screen and say oh dang I can do that with a couple batteries keep it up
I like them Volvo trucks you got. Supposed to be pretty good trucks, run forever. They make them near my house in Virginia. They have a big test track around the whole factory where they supposedly test every truck before it goes out.
Wiley do you think the owner may hide another kill switch somewhere so no one could steal it. I have heard that they hide them in the sleeper or wheel well.just a idea.
People are so cruel they just can’t sit back and watch and enjoy the videos,he’s not trying to out due anybody he’s just showing us what he do in his life and he probably enjoy sharing it with us
There are other "will it start"s, but your humor sets you apart, Wiley! May your family continue to be safe and healthy. God bless!

Did not know that about the pry slots. Going to get a hammer

@@DontbeWily They are actualy cooling slots but when the shoe is thick enough you can stik a wedge in there and break them loose when the pins are in.
Keep it up teaching the YOUNG ones me and are getting old ,your rare 😊😊😉😉
It's knowledge and expertise that count and you have them both! I am enjoying the series and look forward to the next part.
