A brilliant song beautifully performed. I play this song with my band and I absolutely love doing so, such a cool and hypnotic groove. A true Australian classic.

Just for You Rollin…. Stevie Wright = George Young = Easybeats…..George and Stevie wrote the Early Easybeats songs that were hits in Australia… Sorry, Wedding Ring , She’s so Fine….. before Friday on my Mind ( Vanda/Young)…. Then Harry Vanda and George became the major songwriters in the band … then Albert Music in house producers … they had a stockpile of songs and distributed them to Alberts Artists… John Paul Young, William Shakespeare, Ted Mulry and even their own side project Flash and the Pan ( Vanda/Young and of Course Stevie’s Solo Albums…. Hard Road is another worth a listen….. and Stevie Wright Live at the Bridgeway Hotel…👍🇦🇺.

So here's a look down a bit of a rabbit hole. You mentioned George Young, elder bro of Malcolm & Angus. George was in The Easybeats, along with his long time collaborator Harry Vanda. (They produced & wrote for heaps of bands & artists, both Australian & international, like Grace Jones.) So....In Dire Straits' big hit, Sultans Of Swing, there are two lines in the lyrics which would seem to relate - "Harry doesn't mind, if he doesn't make the scene, he's got a daytime job...." And "Check out guitar George, he knows all the chords, but he's strictly rhythm, he doesn't wanna make it cry or sing...." Knopfler would have been pretty young when The Easybeats took the UK by storm, but it's a hell of a coincidence, no?

Back in the day when this came out my area was full of sharpies/skinheads, they loved this stuff and ACDC/Rose Tattoo etc.You had to be willing to put the fists up or you were in a bit of trouble. Even as a 10 year old if you walked down the wrong street on the wrong day you would be in a blue (fight).Just for looking at a kid the wrong way. They are the streets Stevie was referring to I reckon.I guess what they say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. It is a lower working class housing commission estate which after leaving in 1985 I returned to in 2006 for good. Was a rough little suburb back in the day but much more gentrified these days.Pretty happy here now, still have plenty of mates and all of them are the salt of the earth. All of them loved a fight as much as a feed but like me too bloody old these days.

Hey Rollen, thanks for playing this one. I knew you’d like it after seeing your Evie reaction. I think that this was in the period of his unfortunate drug and alcohol problems. The band is the Allstars (a great band) who, including the drummer, guitarist and keyboard player were on the Evie video in front of the Sydney Opera House. The lead guitarist in this clip is Kevin Borich who became a bit of legend himself. Someone might know all the all star names. Thanks Brad

Great reaction Rollin. Have you listened to Yesterday's Hero by John Paul Young? Man, It's a great song. I think you'll like it. Great beat. Definitely will get your toe tappin' and your head bobbin'. He's another Australian artist. Cheers, 👍✌🇦🇺
The song was written by George Young too.

love your comments on this song ,you are a wise man. I'm a 56year old Aussie and grew up with this music and im sure you will enjoy the song Guitar Band by Stevie Wright. Also the backing band for Stevie eventually became the backing band for John Paul Young.

Rollen here are two John Farnham interviews you and Angie will enjoy. They are both quite old but really give great insight into John the man1) How John Farnham found his legendary voice 60 Minutes Australia ua-cam.com/video/Elow7_eTv7I/v-deo.html 2) John Farnham's farewell tour through Australia's heartland | 60 Minutes Australia(2003) ua-cam.com/video/udaqSgxv62g/v-deo.html. I know it's a departure from reacting to music but I would love to see yours and Angies reactions to these please
