  • Not gonna lie, I wanted one purely based on the sexy aesthetics, not expecting much in the way of performance. I was very pleasantly surprised. Be sure to watch till the end, when we take it out in the dark with some stiff competition.
    Available on Massdrop at a lower price than spoken of in the video: dro.ps/js-lumintop

    Bought 2 for my friends birthdays this last week. Fantastic light, far more compact than my aluminum Thrunite TN12 but also far heavier. Also they get VERY hot VERY fast, at least in brass and copper.

    I use the holster for work. This is a great flashlight. Bright, long battery life, and nice function. I often work at night and it gets lots of use.

    Just a thought you could do size comparisons to the Fenix PD 35 which is a really really common flashlight and a lot of us would've probably handle before

    if the light gets to hot to touch you're probably killing the led or the battery just because it can dosent mean you should

    Hey Jim, do you own an HDS Systems Flashlight? I have been caring one for quite some time. Would love to see you do a review on that. Right now I am alternating between my HDS and a surefire 6z with a malkoff drop-in

    Why do they use cm instead of inches? Simple. Because most of the world uses the Metric System instead of the Imperial System.

    hey jim ive kinda moved away from the pretty stuff and into the more, for lack of better word, "tactical" kinda stuff these days, but I was wondering how this light compares to say a nitecore or armytek. putting the cosmetics aside, do these have basically the same functions and performance as one of the tactical style lights. idk if I'm getting thru what I'm trying to ask quite right, it seems my vocabulary moves out where grey hairs move in.

    I think you mean the carbon fiber could offer some insulation from the heat. Not dissipate heat. Not to be nit picky ;-)

    Whats with this copper flashlight trend? Who would want a copper flashlight? you drop it once and its fucked, I guess the patina is cool but if thats the only reason for the demand, thats pretty hilarious

    • @CASTRO45ACP
      @CASTRO45ACP 8 років тому

      Huh? Why would a drop mean it's done? Copper is tough dude.

      +CASTRO45ACP I think he means finish/aesthetic wise. If someone backs into my car in a parking lot, it'll still drive just fine, but it sure would look like shit.

    • @aaronoosterhoff5449
      @aaronoosterhoff5449 8 років тому +1

      I mean copper is easily malleable. The walls of a copper flashlight would dent, you drop it on the bezel and next thing you know, the bezel is dented and that cracked your lens.. I don't prefer copper when it comes to structural things like lights that have fine machining such as threads on them, for a spin top, sure copper would be fine
      As far as EDC lights, I couldn't get behind copper. It'd be fine for a desktop light I suppose

    The ONLY quality it has that a $50 Convoy does not is snob appeal. I get the knives, and I appreciate finely made things, but luxury electronics is just asinine. The art and functionality of a blade is timeless. But with electronics, technology moves so fast that after a few months, all youre left with is an outdated piece of very expensive junk. Watching this video a couple years later, I have the benefit of hindsight. When light quality is discussed now, we’re talking CRI. That “perfect clicky” talked about on the video? people now want ramping. Those thousands of lumens mentioned in the video? We’re now talking tens of thousands. There are now sub $100 lights that offer you a choice of emitter brand and color, materials, extendable battery tubes, programmable drivers, alI topped with AR glass. I would consider myself a mild flashaholic, and imho there is no such thing as “the perfect beam quality”. At best it’s hype, at worst it’s bs. You shouldn’t be buying it and you definitely shouldn’t be selling it. It’s like trying to justify the cost of a four figure knife because of the type of threading the hardware has... it doesn’t matter! What’s more, with flashlights, the price:performance ratio is not linear. Sure different lights have different hotspots, coronas, and spill... but it doesn’t matter! You wanna talk “perfect”? ive got a $10 lensed AAA that outputs a perfectly even circle of light. Just as there’s no perfect gun, different situations call for different lights and beams; sometimes you need to light up a field, sometimes you need to see across several fields, sometimes you need to discern movement, sometimes you need to pick out colours, sometimes you can get by with several minutes of runtime, sometimes a few hours, other times you need it to last for days. Like I said; perfect beam? No such thing.
