I have a Vorso MK1 Performance with Ceramic bearing. It is my very first top and I love it. Incredibly made and lasts a very long time. On average my spins are roughly 10 minutes and my record spin is 13:22. If you're thinking about getting into tops, this is a great purchase
Just like using rubies in watches, since they have virtually zero friction (comparatively) this is beautiful. I still think these tops are toys I'll never waste my hard earned money on. Nothing personal, just not what I'm into. I think it's great you're doing these videos for those who get wet on tops.
Thank you Jim, sold most of my tops because of the immense cost and seeing as though they are more of a fun thing than practical such as knife/gun I went ahead and jumped on this opportunity and signed up for the Mass Drop. I well know the price of tops and this is a killer deal, even Rich's basic one pieces were over $75. Thanks again!
Hey, Jim. I got a question for you: what kind of camera are you using for your videos? I am looking into a good and preferably cheap camera for knife reviews and to get those closeup shots!
hi jim hope your well, just to let you know iv ordered my top from vorso today, cant wait to play with it,also because of you my knife collection is growing which is a good thing ;} thanks as always for the vids you put out all are very informative, thanks again mate, care and love to you and yours.
Hi Jim my name is Ken I just got into this whole top thing I've been a knife and gun guy forever but also never thought I'd be in the tops but I too enjoy it my question for you is can you get me in touch with who made that the spin top center for you also I'm interested that mini top woluld you be willing to part with it
HI, I wander can you do me a favor? can you make video where 2 spinning tops are first spinned in same direction and they touch each other and than same thing just spinning tops rotating in different directions? I would really appreciate your effort :)
The top I picked up for $35 I have gotten 12 minutes out of and consistently over 10 minutes. It is a little more fancy than these Vorsos, but these Vorsos are a great deal.
Ultimate Micro Quads These guys make it (husband wife time out of Canada) www.etsy.com/shop/FocusWorks. It was the 'Fred on a Stick'. It has gone up in price a bit, but still cheap. Looking at my original comment, the spin time is totally true, but the 'Fred on a Stick' just has a ceramic ball and not that beautiful ruby. The Vorsos look good and have that knurling, though the rubber O ring on the FocusWorks one does a great job at finger traction. Point is, the Vorsos may look nicer depending on user preference.
Hey Jim this is a question about your show piece praetorian T I've tried to look threw the old vids where you showcased it and can't find a new video on it. On your home page you have a picture of it and in that picture it looks as if the thumb channel has been completely removed. Am I seeing this correctly if so that looks awesome was that something special you had to request. I didn't remember seeing it that way when you originally showcased this knife. If there have bin some upgrades to it could you point me to the video of you showing it off again. Thanks for the great videos
The last vids it appeared in were 2 years ago. If you use the search function while on my channel and search for Medford, you'll find them all. But here is the one I did after Greg upgraded my knife: ua-cam.com/video/hXsm7lIfjG8/v-deo.html
Big difference between these and the collection of dime store, wood tops, that you “throw” with a string wound around it. But, throwing a top is a lost skill. Kids today could care less. We spin them at our fire station. Haven’t decided what I’ll do, when I get a life lol!
would anyone help me in finding some info about any mechanical spinning top iteration around there? you know like with motor, gasoline, maybe, a switch you know, maybe RC controled
+Jim Skelton what would be better the Copper or Brass, the only left on the page are the Brass Machine finish (I dont like alot that finish) and Copper that looks pretty nice but its the one noone reviewed and the most expensive.
Daniel Rodriguez not Jim, but if you're more susceptible to dropping stuff I'd say brass. I have other things at home that I use brass for because of the durability.
Sorry for the mistake, im looking for one that last alot of time spinning, more than anithing, i like the shiny ones and copper loks nice redish than the others but im more interested on the performance, copper shiny or Ugly brass hahahha. it would be my first one so whats your recomendation.
Daniel Rodriguez I mean copper isn't going to get DESTROYED. So you would be okay with copper, just don't go dropping it on tile flooring or anything hard. also remember that copper or brass patina over time and the more you handle them the faster that happens. to keep the shine you need to polish them.
Would you prefer that I just made up a random name for it instead of calling it by it's actual name? Like if I see a car going down the road, I point to it and say "Oh look, an umbrella!!"
+Jim Skelton hes just laughing at you cause that shits retarded.... at this point you officially have more money than sense shits too dumb for me unsubbed
No it's not. You did notice that on Vorso's website the prices are in British Pounds, right? Vorso site: 36 pounds (steel contact point) to 52 pounds (ruby ) which is $52-$75 in US Dollars. On Massdrop ALL variations, regardless of contact points are $40.
On mass drop once I choose the Ruby contact it comes out to $70.74... on the vorso website it comes to 54 euro which is $59.02 usd, with free international shipping. Now am I missing something here?
I think we both did. On Massdrop I see only one price, but perhaps when you select the contact point and checkout, the price is higher... I haven't gone through the checkout process to know. However, again realize that on the Vorso site, the prices are in Pounds (Sterling), not in Euro. The ruby is $75 USD, so you still saved a few dollars
+Jim Skelton well you should let everybody know it's not $40 if they want the Ruby tip, considering you said all variations are $40. also even with my euro mistake with tax/shipping included mass drop comes to $76.05 and vorso comes to $75.63. I know it's less than a buck, but it's still cheaper from vorso.

was watching norwegians save random animals from frozen lakes, no idea how i got here after an hour.

I ordered one of these after watching this video. It arrived yesterday morning and it’s perfect. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thank you Jim, sold most of my tops because of the immense cost and seeing as though they are more of a fun thing than practical such as knife/gun I went ahead and jumped on this opportunity and signed up for the Mass Drop. Thanks again!
hey what the hell
???
Hey Jim, you finally convinced me. Today I ordered my first spinning top.
My mom won’t buy me one
got mine in yesterday and i couldnt be happier with it. what a great top
Will try to make some with wood found in the outback. Cheers Cobber.
Signed up for the massdrop a week or so ago, can't wait
Thanks! Joined Massdrop too. Got the performance with ceramic ball.
Love your videos. You're going to cost me a fortune, Jim.
I've just ordered one for my son, I look forward to it so much^^
oooh it soo shinneeyyy
ah ello guvnah

Thanks for sharing these vids. I'm looking for my first top and there are so many choices!!
You're insane Jim.
Bought three Bruce Charles designs, one as a gift for $120, hope these tops are good.
For some reason I prefer the finish to the original, the shiny finish seems like it'd be a finger print magnet
Hey, Jim. I got a question for you: what kind of camera are you using for your videos?
I am looking into a good and preferably cheap camera for knife reviews and to get those closeup shots!
Just a consumer grade Sony Cybershot I bought 3.5 years ago
For an old camera and consumer grade, it's great. Awesome videos, Jim. Congrats on making it to a place in life where you can do these things :)
Jim Skelton
Thank you for your response!
Hey! The big one is plenty pretty!
Excellent top. BTW, if you see ForeverSpin tops popping up on google searches, ignore them. They are nothing compared to this.
Is a heavier top better

hey Jim, where I can buy this "spinstation"? Regards from germany! :-)
Awesome Video Jim & Beautiful Tops. The Spin Station Is Unreal...! Keep up the great work. Nick.
im liking these :)
Very Very Intresting Project.......................................thank you

Awesome spin station, can we see a ruby vs ruby aka this vs lambda spin test
Please do a "story" video about your relationship with Invicta. Lol Jim I'm not letting this go 😂.
can you please do a full in depth collection of your spin tops !!!!
i would really love that like an hour long lol
hard to find these now for less, only purchasable from England now for double or triple, looks really cool though
Cool stuff and Enjoy your videos .
were can i buy a cheap spin base? @
Hi, Jim! Please tell me:
- Should I get a Vorso Mk1....... or a Prometheus Lambda Brass? (For absolute precision, no whobbling and spin time)
well that was a fun video to watch!
Performance wise, how does it compare to the Prometheus Lambda?
HI,
I wander can you do me a favor?

"hay" looked like wood shavings, a.k.a. "wood wool".
The top I picked up for $35 I have gotten 12 minutes out of and consistently over 10 minutes. It is a little more fancy than these Vorsos, but these Vorsos are a great deal.

Does this model spin on your finger
pretty soon someone will make one with a diamond instead of a ruby!
Someone should make a spin station that makes tops spin forever.
Jim have you ever checked out tops from a top maker called Impetus tops?
I came for the spins, i stay for your voice (?) xD
His voice reminds me of Dennis Praeger
@@DiLLyDaLLyHo Urine and Feces
How do you cut anything with these? What kind of bearings do they run on. Are they mid-techs or productions
They only cut.... through boredom.
Quick drop
Jim could you review more inexpensive tops like kershaws, boker, etc?
Haters gonna hate, i love it
I think the ceramic has longer spin time.
would anyone help me in finding some info about any mechanical spinning top iteration around there? you know like with motor, gasoline, maybe, a switch you know, maybe RC controled
Where do I get one of those spin stations?
What firmware version?
Do you have any opinions on the Olamic Cutlery wayfarer 247?
Completely irrelevant to this video but... LOL
I like it so much that mine is due to arrive any day now.
14 min spin ?
+Jim Skelton what would be better the Copper or Brass, the only left on the page are the Brass Machine finish (I dont like alot that finish) and Copper that looks pretty nice but its the one noone reviewed and the most expensive.
Copper is lighter and softer, scratches easier. Brass is heavier and harder, less likely to get damaged from falls.
Thx Jim so you recomend me the Brass Machine finish than copper.
Daniel Rodriguez not Jim, but if you're more susceptible to dropping stuff I'd say brass. I have other things at home that I use brass for because of the durability.

Oh fuck... no! You have no idea how much you'll be missed.
am I alone in preferring the original? I would end up with so many smudged fingerprints on it that it would look messy...
Its cheaper to buy these on the vorso website than it is on massdrop.

Why ?
Try spinning in a vacuum taking air friction out of the equation.
They have these in massdrop
Yes. Like I said in the video and in the description LOL
See what you made me do.....
Cool
Consumerism in America is funny.
