    This is next on my list. just got my pt 60 daylight in a can and cant say enough about it but all the video reviews do it no justice, you got to hold this baby in a dark ball field, cemetery etc and see for yourself it turns darkness into day. RIP my Olite sr Minnie I left on the bumper of a truck late at night and probably landed somewhere on Tremont st in Boston. I hope its new owner enjoys it.

    Great light it seems to be a light that somebody uses for a something is better than nothing. Something small enough that it would be in hand when needed and has the ability to leave a mark if you have to strike them with it.

    I have the upgraded version.
    The first one died after the first month, I believe it was the on/off switch.
    It was replaced by the dealer right away and the 2nd one is problem free after several months already.
    Great light, nice updated UI and EXTREMELY bright, despite the fact that test's run on it on Candelpower forums show results that it's exactly "1000" lumens.

    The triple click from off is a very nice change. I don't know why some manufacturers have to make strobe so difficult to use. Strobe should always be available from the off position. Great review.

    I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Adding this to another one of my playlists. I'm glad to see you put any gripes you have/had about any gear you review. Too many "reviewers" out there that seem to only give the pros to an item instead of the honest truth.

    I think it's a good light the thing is that I noticed is when it's in my pocket it tends to turn on by itself because the switch is so sensitive and easy to activate that is a big big fail in my mind

      I have a small Mag-Lite that goes on by itself in my pocket, too. That burns out batteries in no time. Glad you posted that...I'll pass on it. Wouldn't ya think they'd correct these flaws? Nothing more irritating than to lose electricity in the home during a storm and find my LED flashlight battery is dead.

    You stole my thunder buddy - I just got my PT16 today and was about to do a video when I saw your video just got posted :-) At first I wasn't liking the modes either, until I realized I was going thru the modes like the old version...and finally got it working a different way and was going to report the difference until I saw you video mentioning a different version of the light...which going by your video I have the newer version. I might still do a vid, but its hard to beat perfection :-) Nice work my friend.

    All those modes. Who needs them? I never use them once yet. As a maintenance technician/tradesman who uses flashlights throughout every shift, single mode is the only way to go. They do make them. Believe me. They are the best for practicability. I like the size of this flashlight and how bright it gets, but instant on and off single mode would sell me before anything else.

    So that is a 333.33 lumen flashlight. If it says it is 1000 lumens but has multiple led's, divide the lumens by led's and that is the true output per led. I do not think having 3x333.33 lumen led's means that the light is producing 1000 lumens. I find also that if you are doubting an online spec simply head over to CREE's website where they have all the specs for their diodes. Output fluctuates depending on watts and voltage with many of their products. So then it simply comes down to type of battery being used and how many. It sucks that they would pair up 3 LED's so they can brag about their specs because they also reduce the already poor battery life they have decided to give you by using a small battery.

    • @bugaljuice
      @bugaljuice 8 років тому +1

      +Adam949 i didnt even realized its 3x3. i thought it was 1000 lumens for each led and just using 3 for more of a wide and fuller lighting.

    • @YouTubeDoxedMyRealName
      @YouTubeDoxedMyRealName 8 років тому +2

      +bugaljuice that is very rarely the case for two reasons, ohms law and company's like to make money. How ever I have seen two or three lights that operate that way since the development of LED tech. In every case the manufacturer will very clearly indicate that each led has the advertised output. if you look at the packaging next time you are looking at a multi led light you will see that individual led brightnesses are not speced in most cases. Kudos to the very few honest company's that do post those specs.

      can you direct me to any?

    • @YouTubeDoxedMyRealName
      @YouTubeDoxedMyRealName 8 років тому +1

      +bugaljuice Here are Cree's spec sheets. www.cree.com/LED-Components-and-Modules/Products Use this search term on ebay: cree led flashlight and select $0-$7, many results will populate and then just check the specs. Even though they ma be lying the specs may tell you it is a bright as you want. Also read the description as they often correct the listing in the specs.

    It may be a little thing for many, but why can't they add the beacon mode to these lights. Even the Larger Nitecore TK75 does not have one and it's rated at 4000 lumens. Is it that hard to add a beacon mode when there is already a strobe mode and often an SOS mode, the beacon gets left out for what seems no reason. BTW, Great review although I am a Fenix and Nitecore fan. Have the TK75, RC40, EA41 (wanted a light that takes regular AA batteries),MH20, MH20GT, and the EC20. The 1st 2 are from Fenix and have 4000 and 6000 lumens, the rest are smaller survival type lights at 1000 lumens, with all modes (beacon,strobe,SOS) from Nitecore. I go to Battery Junction for my portable lighting needs. They have many brands and types at good prices, return policy is easy, but you pay the return charge (that sucks), CSR is responsive not a recording. I will have to see if they offer this as I dont remember finding a small light this powerful, most max out at around 600 lumens at best for the size you show. Thanks..

    what do you think between this and the Nitecore EC11 Flashlight with 900 Lumens?? Im looking for an EDC that I can POCKET carry easily. Im not concerned with throw and lighting up a whole foot ball field...I look for 2 things in a light....light up the area in front of me to see, and be able to blind an attacker. I would like to know your best
    recommendation for a two battery AA penlight that has a decent amount
    of brightness with a lower level lighting option. Also, I would want
    this penlight to have a momentary on option as well as a decent build
    quality and a tactical bezzle if possible. Also, a rear tail cap
    switch if available.
    Also, I would like to know your best
    recommendation for a one AA battery flashlight which has more than
    one brightness level and is relatively high in lumins. Also, I would
    like it to have a reversible pocket clip and a momentary on function
    if possible. If a AA battery is not possible, to get the higher
    lighting levels, then a specialty battery would be acceptable. In
    this case, a recharge capable light would also be acceptable.
    However, I was most interested in a standard AA battery light if it
    was available considering my other stipulations. Also, a rear tail
    cap switch if available.

      i'd look at lights from nitecore or thrunite. or jump on candlepower forums. they would most likely be able to recommend exactly what you are looking for.

      Check out J5 Tactical uses one AA, 3 modes bright, dim, strobe, strike bezel and tailcap switch.
      Got my first one years ago, now there are tons of copies at lower prices.

    Shouldn't it be an ENC(night) flashlight? No need for one in the day.

    this light turns on by mistake by accidentally hitting the switch in your pocket or where ever.
