How to install a cold air intake (VW MK6 Jetta GLI)

- Finally installing my first (kind of) performance mod onto my VW MK6 Jetta GLI aka my Panda. There are so many options to choose from but I bought a K&N Typhoon cold air intake. I have no idea if I gained HP but I do know that I gained incredible turbo sounds.
Using the affiliated links below does not cost extra money but pays me a small percentage to help me afford to keep making videos like this. Thanks for your support!

I've got the same intake on my 2015 Tornado Red GLI and love it! My other performance mod is AWE's Track Edition cat back exhaust. Well worth the money spent
+xx1lomazdawgxx Nice 👍 I was thinking about getting a catback APR exhaust. I listened to so many online. Tough decision.
FrankieGisMe man it was a tough decision, but for me the AWE Tuning one was the way to go. My car is for sale, I'm in Texas if any of your followers are interested in a very clean 2015. Car looks good, love the white and black contrast easttexas.craigslist.org/cto/6069501596.html
+xx1lomazdawgxx why are you selling it?
FrankieGisMe I need a truck. I have had too many instances lately where I've needed a truck. I wish I could keep the GLI, but I can't afford 3 car notes, plus mortgage etc.
+xx1lomazdawgxx ya I get it
Where did you get your Jetta tuned or what did you use for it?
I just found you on UA-cam. Nice ride. I actually have the same car!! Looking forward to checking out your other vids and following your mods. My first mod will be an APR stage 1 tune and an APR cai. Can't wait. Then maybe downpipe and catback exhaust. How about you?
Do you live in Phoenix? I actually went to college in Prescott. Spent a lot of time in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Tempe. Some of the sights in your vids look familiar. Good Luck with the panda!!
+MrMoto1te that’s awesome man 👍 I’m working on lowering my car and getting a catback exhaust. Ya, I’m in Phx. Thanks for watching
Cool vid nicely done. I have 14’ GLI Autobahn with an APR stage 2 tune and APR downpipe. Going to install high performance engine mounts and a cold air next. Love the car, but it’s my “intro to Audi” as I want to get an S4 in a few years if I can.
Ya, Audi’s are nice and seem more “adult”
FrankieGisMe If you haven’t test drive one I highly suggest it. It’s practically the same car but it just feels like all the parts are more solid. The magnetic ride is crazy! Those cars just grip the earth and the exhaust notes are insane.
RVA Reviews I test drive a manual 2015 S4 when it was brand new. I’m sure there’s a lot of differences from the current model but it was still really nice.
@@MRRVADrums that’s exactly how it feels lmaoo i have a GLI ‘12 and i just had the chance to drive an r8 for the weekend and it was insanely smooth felt like mine just way more dialed
and wayyyy faster😅
i was reading the installation instructions, it says to disconnect the negative battery cable. did you do that?
+ryanduz hahaha nope
ok cool neither am i....lol
+ryanduz ha ok be safe 👍 thansk for supporting my channel
Will this work for a 2014 volkswagen jetta se 1.8t?
+Joshua Bmx To be honest in not sure. I know on Amazon it lets you tell them what car you drive and if it fits.
Kind of looks like one of those troll dolls at the beginning of the video😂
Under the intake (aftermarket and OEM) near the turbo, there is a hose connected by a round plastic clip. I need to replace it. Having much difficulty locating the part. Does anyone know what this clip/hose is called so that I can ask the dealer the right question?
What goes through it?
what site or location did u get ur kn...im trying to find the best deal!
+famanjetta11 I put a link in the description . Hope that helps
That's Sick ! Now Stage 1 tune ! Lol
+Jolan washington gettin there... step by step
FrankieGisMe if you haven't done it already you're going to love it biggest difference you'll notice with the stages.
+NoPhlyZone ya I can't wait!
Frankie, so how does your car drive now any horsepower increase?
+Ringo Star it says that it guarantees HP but I don't know if it really added much. I will say it does feel faster at higher RPM. Might just be my mind playing tricks on me 😂
The best way to get the most performance boost out of those cold air intakes over the factory air box is you have to have your car retuned and the computer updated because the computer is set for the factory air box I put one of these in and cut blowing codes until I had that done
Is this the only performance mod you had done? I want better sound from my mk6 Jetta se but Idk if I'm down to start deleting things yet lol
I also have apr tune. For sound save and get a decent exhaust system
So getting a new exhaust or say maybe new air intake would that require or be best for me to buy a tune for my car or no?
Most people don’t. Depends what you’re getting. If you do down pipe you should get tuned for sure
Thanks for the insight
Have you upgraded your bov?
Was going to but didn’t
Anyone know if air intakes are CARB legal in florida
I have no idea but you might be able to ask the manufacturer
So did the intake make a difference?
+Ringo Star I'm sure it made a slight power difference but the biggest difference was the sound. So many good turbo sounds now 😁
You stay close to Westgate? We should cruise sometime. I've had my mk6 gli for about 3 months now.
Ya, sounds good man
I’m out in Surprise/El Mirage. Could use a crew to ride with.
I can’t get the pcv pipe off the intake pipe
It wasn’t easy but definitely do able. Did you finally get it?
Would this work on a 2.0 nonturbo?
TBH, I’m not sure. I put a link to it in the description. That should have more info. Sorry I couldn’t be more help
Same process different intake, the turbo is on the back of the motor, the intake goes to the turbo inlet pipe, a non turbo Jetta or 2.0L will just go to the throttle body on the motor, so it’s a different location
I wouldn’t put it on a non Turbo car, save your money and don’t rice out your car, the max power your getting out of a N/A car is like 300hp and that’s with a lot of investment
Please respond. I have 2013 vw jetta gli, and it has practically stock everything. Will an intake system need a stage 1 tuning or can i run stock with it for awhile? Just want the car to last and using this mod seems like it will only help the car. Thank you
Tune is not required. I tuned my car months after I upgraded the intake
@@Frankiegisme perfect. thank you!
Why no more videos? Still have your Jetta mk6?
Not sure man. I still have it though
Did you get a CEL?
What’s that’?
A check engine light Lol
😂 no
😂😂😂 thanks
Time for a tune frankie 😁
+Alex Rosete I 100% agree. I was looking a shop here that does that.its not too expensive for a stage 1 APR tune
FrankieGisMe yes sir i have gen 3 gli stage 2 apr its alot of fun
Thats awesome!
FrankieGisMe looking foward for your car to being tuned
+Alex Rosete thanks me too!
That guy looks just like those trolly dolls that came in my McDonald's kid meals with the hair like that
Ya he looks pretty cool 😎
@@Frankiegisme damn Skippy sir , keep up the content
Why were you surprised it comes with rubber gaskets? They always do haha
I don’t know things 😂
Is tuning required???
No, I ran it like that for months before I tuned my car.
FrankieGisMe what do you need for full stage 2 upgrade?
Not sure I’m only stage 1
Bryan Barraza downpipe intake exhaust and recommended intercooler, I’m already stage 2 and dsg tune
is he screwing with his warranty by doing this? i gotta 14 jetta se and i just bought it... i wanna do this but i have a 4 year 60k mi warranty i only got 34k mi on it 😒
did you find the answer you were looking for anywhere?
Maggie - sometimes the apr products don’t void warranties, they are partnered with vw, the best intake for the car if you have intentions of tuning it is the k&n tho
Yup, just throw things down
🤷🏻♂️😂
