Honestly stage 2. I say that because supporting mods would need to be remapped. Like down pipe for higher flow plus intercooler exhaust. So on. Those are all supporting a more aggressive tune. Non of which make a lot of power individually but together with a stage 2 can be powerful and reliable
Make sure you look into a boost gauge and Michelin Pilot SuperSports will definitely take the bump in power. P3 Gauges are very very nice but have a decent cost to them as well. Also, noticed how you have the same whine as I do while under WOT, haha. Glad you did it man!
+Diego Herrera funny that you say that I was just looking at boost gauges the other day. Not cheap but I definitely need it. The tires that I ordered are ultra performance all terrain tires because I need tires that work well in the snow. I never heard a turbo car make that noise before. Kinda reminds me of a supercharger. Sounds good with the other turbo sounds. Thanks for your support 👍
Not always about horses. Tires are extremely important in order to put power to the ground. Boost gauge important to make sure you do t blow your car up (and many other reasons)

Hey brother I just recently had my 17’ GLI flashed stage 1 at a performance shop here in San Diego. The only mods I had prior to the tune is a set of super sticky Pirelli P-zeros and a K & N drop in filter. Gains over stock are most noticeable above the 2000 rpm range, but below that the car doesn’t really “feel” too dramatically different. Has this been your experience? I haven’t launched it, yet. What's up Fankie just ran into your channel today. I just bought a 2014 vw jetta yesterday it's the base model all black looks nice n slick only 22,000 miles. it's not a powerful engine 2.0l 115 hp. I'm not a racer I like to take care of my car i'm really happy with my car it's really simple no pretty gadgets or a lot of electronical devices lol but it feels real good driving. I'm alright that it's simple and I'm more than happy with it. But I would really like it to have more power it's a 5 speed manual transmission. Any tips n tricks you can give me to boost power that are not expensive or that cost big bucks to do. Will appreciate thank you and liked your channel so i sub to it. I'm a jetta man now jajaja
+Ariel Figueroa welcome to the vdub life 👍 simple upgrades to get a little extra power are usually intake and exhaust. The biggest power increase I got was from the APR Stage 1 tune. It was kind of pricey but gave good power for the money. If I were you I wouldn't worry about power. I would focus more on looks. Thanks for watching and subing
Ariel Figueroa I just bought a gli 2017 but a while ago I had the 2slow engine. As power goes you can't do much at all. What I did to mine was sold shifter bushings and a weighted shift knob. Besides that you can only buy a intake. But that car was awesome.
Ariel Figueroa honestly man, without a good naturally aspirated engine, i think probably the best thing you can do is Supercharge it. Have i ever seen a supercharged GLI or GTI? No. Can it actually be done? No idea, but i feel like you should be able to as long as you wouldn't have to mod the engine bay so much for the SC to fit. Its not super cheap, but for noticeable results, its reasonable. Other than that, weight reduction is your best bet. Best kind of fuel will help to a degree. Good tires as well.
deejaylx95 I was reading up on someone thinking of a head swap for a 16v. That would be cool. I am looking into the possibility of a mk7 head swap for the "VTech" on the new gen 3s give it a few years and I'm sure that will be a thing
A jacko I dont know man, The In-Line 4 on the mk7 GLI is not bad. Turbo is a little sluggish, but if you know how to drive the car, its pretty quick, surprises me sometimes. Swapping the engine with VTEC just seems farfetched compared to swapping the turbos thats outfitted on the Golf R. Im sure its the same engine (EA888 i think?) Tuned a bit, and a different turbo, much more fierce since its putting out 292bhp. Yes it's not the 306 that the VTEC is putting out, but its so much cheaper and time saving. Plus all the money that you save, you could put towards upgrading atleast the down pipe since its pretty choked up. Other than that, the car is pretty solid. Sure you could do so much more. Look at 700hp GTI's. Same could be done to GLI's, just a little differences.
Congrats man! I have an APR tune. I haven’t had any issues over the last 50k miles that I’ve been tuned. I recommend APR. You can probably do a google search for tuner shops near you that offer APR. hope that helps

You did stage 1 with just an intake? Have you replaced your clutch since then? I heard the stock can't hold much more. Any performance mods since the flash? I have intake, cbe but I'm considering dp and stage 1. Not looking forward to a clutch though
+Alex Rosete that tq is high! Do you have torque steer? They said that I should get exhaust and intercooler before I go Stage 2. I also want an upgraded clutch.
APR get all the attention. But I prefer Giac. It all started back in the day when me and my cousin both had 1.8t manuals. He had apr, and me giac. And I used to woop his ass from a roll and my tune was $150 less.
It really depends what you’re going for. Most people would say exhaust, suspension, intake, wheels & tires, and a tune. Those are most common. If you do suspension, don’t cheap out because that will tremendously affect your ride quality and handling.
@@Frankiegisme okay awesome man and thanks for the reply I appreciate it. Was thinking of doing intake and full exhaust then tune. I love the stock wheels that came with it honestly haha but do you have a preference in exhaust or intake? Was thinking CTS turbo for the exhaust and nuespeed for the intake
I also like the stock wheels. I’m probably going to get them powder coated black. I like the sound of the APR exhaust. Also you’ll get better gains with a downpipe before the tune.
@@Frankiegisme sweet I'll have to keep that in mind! Mines black I was also thinking of powder coating but doing a gunmetal grey instead of black. But that is for the input man I greatly appreciate it!!
Hello what is the exact mods you had to use to make your car hit about 260 hp and 275 torque becasue i wanna keep my gli like that ? If you don’t mind asking
So what all is done on it I’m thinking about doing this but my car has 90k miles now so I’m kinda worried it will just blow up if I do anything to it at all
They’re MK7 GTI style headlights. I did an install video for them (ua-cam.com/video/-9Qj4cdWae0/v-deo.html). I have a link in the description of that video if you’re interested in them.
Tbh, your jetta will never be the fastest car on the road. Which is fine but because of that I don’t think you should waste money on a tune. Instead put that money toward other mods that make your car look better. Like coilovers or something else like that.
Hey dude, I just recently bought a 2016 Audi A4 Progressiv+ (my first car) and it's quoted at ~240hp and I want to make it a tad more powerful and was thinking about getting the Stage 1 as well. I want to keep it classy so don't want to go overboard with Stage 2 or 3. I was just wondering, what other things do you need for a successful Stage 2 transformation? What I mean is, I currently have everything stock on my car and would like to know if I need to get a special Air Intake, Exhaust system etc. Great video bro. Keep it up.
Hey man, sorry for the late response. Some reason UA-cam thought it was spam. Anyways, congrats on the purchase! I agree, stage 1 is more than enough around town. Stage 1 usually doesnt require supporting mods. I do recommend doing the mods that you want to do before the tune (i.e. intake, exhaust, etc.). That way you get the most out of your car. If you dont plan on doing anything else, I say go for it. Thanks for watching
I've tuned one of these at home with just a screwdriver and I'm getting around 1600 hp at the wheels and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. It's good for 0-60 in 1.1 secs and I guess its ok. I only get 70 mpg though (in first gear at 60 mph).
Damn. I want more horsepower when I'm sitting idle at a stoplight on a hot summer day. Can I too spend a few hundred for it? There's nothing like unleashing horsepower to hurry up and get to the next stop light or pretending to be in an Alfo Romeo. And don't forget how awesome credit card debt is after putting all that spending to really really practical matters.

That’s a great question but I have no idea. Depends on how much power you’re putting down
Absolutely not
You could get a turbo blanket and wrap the intake
Great idea 💡 thanks
i live in phoenix as well, where is this at? thinking of getting my car tuned
It’s called GoodSpeed and it’s in Scottsdale
Should’ve got it for premium fuel. You’d make about 270 and it’s better for a turbocharged motor. APR is lit tho
What do you mean? I always get the highest octane fuel.
Im stage 2 apr i did 255 hp/ 315 tq we are basically even
+Alex Rosete that tq is high! Do you have torque steer? They said that I should get exhaust and intercooler before I go Stage 2. I also want an upgraded clutch.
Hey one question how much did you spend on stage I?
kenil garcia for my tune I spent $675 and then an optional $100 for the before and after dyno results.
APR get all the attention. But I prefer Giac. It all started back in the day when me and my cousin both had 1.8t manuals. He had apr, and me giac. And I used to woop his ass from a roll and my tune was $150 less.
That would make me like them better too haha
I just bought one of these and cant find any reviews on it that show mods
Is the stage 1 just the ecu tune?
+eze Vazquez ya. They said Stage 2 needs exhaust, intercooler, and something else that I forgot
FrankieGisMe downnpipe
+Kokom definitely
Hey frankie, what kind of intake you had in this video? and what did you get after? ✌🏼
I have a K&N Typhoon haven’t changed it.
How much did the tune cost you overall at the end of the day
I believe $750 which included a before and after dyno
Dyno was rolled in with the total. I believe it was $100-$200 for before and after
Hey man I just bought a 2014 edition 30 GLI and was wondering you opinion on the best first 5 mods for it? Hope to hear back thanks!
I think it’s hilarious how these cars sound like vacuum cleaners with stock exhausts 😂😂 mine is the same way
Never thought that but now I can never unthink it 😂
my mazda sounds better with a cold air intake. i'm picky about an exhaust. i don't want a fart car.
What grade fuel are you running here?
Always 91. It’s the highest available inAZ
Hello what is the exact mods you had to use to make your car hit about 260 hp and 275 torque becasue i wanna keep my gli like that ? If you don’t mind asking
At that time, I only had an intake and tune
Did it improve your 0-60 time?
Haven’t tracked her but I am 100% sure it’s quicker off the line.
LoL... it gained about 40hp. Of course it will !
whered you get your rear trunk spoiler
OEM on ‘15 GLI. You can find replicas on eBay and amazon
is this tune available for the 2013 jetta 2.0 non turbo
Pretty sure you can tune any car. However your results may not be as good since you’re naturally aspirated. I wouldn’t recommend
So what all is done on it I’m thinking about doing this but my car has 90k miles now so I’m kinda worried it will just blow up if I do anything to it at all
Honestly just a tune and intakes if you have a reputable shop do it you’ll be fine. They’re goal is reliable power
What led kit you got?
Here’s the vid How to install Bi-Xenon HID Headlights on VW MK6 Jetta GLI ua-cam.com/video/-9Qj4cdWae0/v-deo.html links in the description
FrankieGisMe thanks man! Just got a 2017 gli 2.0. Loving it but not wanting to keep it stock, fun but overwhelming !
Congrats, welcome to the Vdub club 👍🏼 enjoy it, happy modding
How much you spend out the door for that?
I don’t remember exactly. I’m pretty sure $750ish. That included the surcharge for the before and after dyno
Howw cc is your car???
2000 I think 🤔 we don’t use cc here.
FrankieGisMe I am from Greece and here we mesuared like this
Thanks for your quick ansewr
Where did u get your headlights?
They’re MK7 GTI style headlights. I did an install video for them (ua-cam.com/video/-9Qj4cdWae0/v-deo.html). I have a link in the description of that video if you’re interested in them.
What kind of roof rack is that?
I have a video about it... Custom Roof Rack for VW MK6 Jetta GLI ua-cam.com/video/_7oUJ4G_-T0/v-deo.html
Mt Lemmon is pretty fun. :D
Haven't heard of it until now. Thats 3.5hrs from my house. I bet its nice on the mountain
FrankieGisMe Yeah, Tucson is my home town. Gates pass is fun too.
Pass on that apr intake. Upgrade the intercooler with your cash. That's what really affects the IAT's.
I agree
I agree - the minor difference in temp an intake may support will be offset by the high heat of the turbo anyhow. Go with an intercooler.
where do you live? do you live close to LA ?
I live in Phoenix, Arizona
What shop was this at?
Dude come on I said that near the beginning of the vid
I got a 2.5 i5, it’s basically stock so about 150 hp do you think a tune is worth it? And what kind of tune
Tbh, your jetta will never be the fastest car on the road. Which is fine but because of that I don’t think you should waste money on a tune. Instead put that money toward other mods that make your car look better. Like coilovers or something else like that.
Do it! Check into intergrated engineering and look on VWVortex for power potential for your particular platform!
I had a 2.5 Rabbit. Those engines are just worth Dailying. Save your money for aesthetics and maintenance.
Daily the car leave it stock don’t waste any money on it and save up for a faster car
Doesn't an APR tune void your warranty?
Great question... depends on the dealership. I’ve had warranty work done to my car even after I got the tune.
So is it like which dealership cares if you did or not?
Pretty much
FrankieGisMe at camelback vw ?
I always go to Peoria VW
I have a 2013 gli with a cts turbo intake and a GFB diverter valve what tune should I go with
I would stick with stage one until you have all supporting mods like intercooler, downpipe, and a few others
What rims are those?
Factory GLI wheels for 2015
How long before you had clutch slippage if any at all? I had it after day 1 only 35k on the car
I’ve been tuned for about 35k miles and have 75k on my stock clutch. Honestly still running strong.
Colton Schorsch I thought it was the clutch slipping too but apparently that’s just how the dsg feels going from stop to 1st and 2nd
Mine car is manual. I think it’s just the sound of the TSI engine
Was that mustang or dyno jet?
+Alex Rosete I'm not sure 🤔
That is a Maha Dyno
+Derek C that sounds familiar.
I've tuned one of these at home with just a screwdriver and I'm getting around 1600 hp at the wheels and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. It's good for 0-60 in 1.1 secs and I guess its ok. I only get 70 mpg though (in first gear at 60 mph).
NICE! 😂
You need an exhaust
+BookieD I 100% agree 👍 it's in the works
How much does something like this cost ?
It depends on the shop you got to. I spent over $700 including the before and after dyno
Weight reduction is not a gimic bro
It is when it accessory pieces where the difference in weight is minimal.
I'd rather hear the car over this cheesy audio. Just a suggestion.
+Faded _MBS I agree. I’ll do that once I get a nice catback exhaust system
Get a better DV ..stock DV can’t handle... takes that whine noise as it’s not holding the boost ...
THANKS 👍🏼 I planned on it but I don’t have the extra cash right now but soon.
nigga said he doesn’t like carbon fiber 😭😭😭🤦🏽♂️
Only on real cars
all that for a stage 1 bench tune
All what?? Simple process
Wtf your in phx..me to👍
Ya man, west valley
Snail performance is way better
+BAMEFR too late haha
Remove that ugly thing on your roof!
Nah, I like roofracks
