I can vouch for this being one of the better beginner cars to start modding. I had a 2011 SE and up grade the spark plugs, coil packs and air filter. It was so much fun to drive. You could actually feel the acceleration in a fun but not "I cant lean forward in my seat" way. You could cruise at a 130 down the highway and STILL get 30+ mpg. The one thing to note is that the 2008-2011 are unibody so if you get in an accident the repairs could cost you 15K plus. 2012 and later would be the better option. The Jetta is also an extremely safe car to drive as well. You will 99.99999999% of the time walk away completely unscathed if involved in an accident.
I have a 2012 jetta comfort line, with most of the bells and whistles except a touch screen. Its peppy and gets good gas, 145000 kms so far, what are the things i should like out for in terms of maintenance?
@@nezamdeham7838 mine doesn’t run too bad at 185k
The Jetta turns 40 in 2024. Great car. I had two in my lifetime. My first one was a MK5 1.9L TDI and now a MK6.5 Jetta Sport 1.8L.
Going from a mk6 tdi to a mk3 tdi was a very good decision. Although it was forced because someone threw a lancer into my mk6, the mk3 is much more fun, and turns heads everywhere I go
That’s why you put a hoodstack on you’re mk6 bypassing the EGR as well as an egr block off plate and a tune
@@ziadajam5433 the mk6 was hoodstacked, tuned and deleted

Im in 1 deadass
Im running my mk5 (2007) jetta on stien coilovers, 2.0tfsi and fully modded making 260kw at the wheels. I love it and gave never had any doubts about this car. Not once has it died on me ever
Love my 4th gen 1.8. I use to work for VW have had it for over 10 years now and it will always have a place in the corner of the garage for when summer rolls around
I've never "OOOH!" so fast on the first clip of cars in these videos. Omg some clean banging Jettas
I now got a mk7 golf but i had a mk6 jetta 2.5 manual. It was a great car. Reliable, fun, big trunk and pretty comfy
I had it lowered on h&r springs and it had alzor 628 with 225/40/18 firestone indy 500 tires. It handles great for a base sedan and the 5 cylinders was awesomen to lisen to it. For the price, it’s a great all around car.
Mk5 was my first car, I fell in love with it. I also had an e60 530i BMW after I totaled it and now I’m living in Costa Rica many years later trying to hunt down another mk5 because I love it THAT much. In my opinion a truly underrated and well aged vehicle.
What version did you have side, you have the 5 cylinder version?
Got a mk5 with 178k on it and still running strong
In developing markets like Mexico, Jettas are super popular and reliable af. It seems that in the US, they can't stand to have a simpler car that gets the job done.
People here just complain that they’re unreliable. Which is complete BS. Most reliable car I’ve had.
MK6 Jettas are very popular in the States for the same reason.
Your league references kill me every time. When I'm putting off working on my car (like the cam I have sitting on the table for my camaro) that's usually what I'm doing. We gotta play sometime!
"Holy shit you get what for gas mileage?"
With a stage 3 tune I still get 45mpg. Or about 8mpg if I floor it............
Best i have got is 50 diesel of course
I've owned 3 jettas
2009 city Jetta
2011 2.0 slow jetta

Mk4 vr6 Jetta, mk4 vr6 golf, mk3 vr6 golf, mk4 2.0 Jetta, mk4 1.8t Jetta 😁😎👍 the mk3 vr6 got a big turbo and turned into a weekend track beast, 1.8t is currently the daily 👍 absolutely love the cars, endless possibilities.
The GLI is the best I love mine especially as a first car 🤘
I've had a 2008 GTI, 2004 Rabbit but now own a 2006 Jetta 2.5! 🙏🏻
@@daltonroberts7312 haha mk4 for life
I’m 18 and I really wanted a gti but my parents said no to the hatch and said if I really wanted one that I could get a Jetta instead because it’s got a trunk. Back in February I picked up a 2014 mk6 gli and have loved it ever since. Planning on ordering some wheels and tires soon but I’m gonna do it right and build it slowly to exactly what I want it to be
nice bro i got a 2016 gli 2 months ago and Ive only put in the intake so far. Enjoying the process of building it is what its about. Also getting some wheels pretty soon from these guys
why are parents against hatchbacks i dont get it lol
Ignacio Villasenor haha same, I really like the f1r f29 wheels. I want them in +35 but they only come in +45 so I’m gonna go with a 245 on an 8.5 wide. Follow my Instagram @justagli for some updates and stuff I post most my mods/updates on there when I do them. I’d like to see your car as well and how far it’s coming if u do that kinda stuff
Jonah I have no idea. The car is the same if I get it in a hatch or with a trunk
If you plan on modding it at all, find out if yours is the gen 3 or not. if it is GET RID OF IT NOW trust me.
I’ve owned my 91 Mk2 8V GTi for 17 years now, only because I couldn’t find a clean Mk2 Jetta CLi at the time. She rips and farts every time I kick the loud pedal! A Mk3 Jetta CLi with a G60 engine is definitely my ultimate “if I win the lottery” project car. Keep up the good content dude!
now yall just need to do "so you want a Nissan Hardbody"
Jaydon E the less people know about all that the better. Keep the prices down 😬 cuz they are so sweet
@@mr.doctorprofessor9953 makes sense lol, the most expensive one I've seen was 4k and the worst thing about it was there was a small tear in one of the seats lmao
I would like to see an episode on that but at the same time prices are so low rn

That fucking 02 sensor engine light bro, it’s a permanent addition to my instrument cluster ❤️
Look, all I’m saying is that I get the hate that the Jettas get but when I was looking for my first car I was intentionally looking for something different. Everyone around me already had STIs, Civics, etc. the usual stuff. I bought a GLI with the gen 3 TSI and I haven’t regretted it since. Modding is easy, with almost an entirely bolt on build you could easily be pushing around 500 wheel reliably on the factory block. Currently I’m pushing just under 400 and I’m having more than enough fun getting into trouble with it. It is a really good sleeper.
500hp? That s crazy
@@David_99778 the 2.0 TSI is a surprisingly well built motor. They even use it in the Audi RS3 DTM cars.
@@Snipedout209 Damn I didn t know. I ll drive my dad s jetta 2011 1.2 tho :))
@@David_99778 I don’t know too much about the 1.2s, I do know people weren’t too happy about the 2.5s although I heard it’s a really good sounding engine, being a 5-cylinder it should sound pretty good. The 1.8Ts I hear are pretty solid. But yeah, the 2.0 TSIs, all you need to run a 500 hp on the factory block are better rods, and clutch. Obviously, you’ll also want to get an intake, intercooler, and whatnot but it don’t take much to get it up to 500, mostly bolt on stuff.
Got a manual mk6 8 valve 2.slow jetta and even though it's slow as hell I love it. It reasonably cheap to fix and cosmetically it has potential
I'm sitting eating A&W in my mk6.5 Jetta GLI. I've owned mk2, mk4, and this mk6.5 Love them all especially Mk4!❤
The Mk 3 Jetta was the first car I decided to go heavy into modifying with. I definitely agree that they all have their little quirks, but it's still one the most fun cars I had the joy and liberty of playing around with. They're a platform you can't really go wrong with on any level, from mild to wild :-D
I went from a 2008 Kia sephia to a mk5 2.5 GLI, my quality of life has improved dramatically
No love for the 2019+ MK7's?
Got a black 16 Jetta she’s been very good to me only has 16k miles and gets 40+ mpg
Owned a jetta mk6.5 as a 1st. Had it for about 2 years until a prick smashed into it and totalled it to the point of beyond repair. While I still owned it, I was in love with it and everytime I stepped out, locked the car, walked away from it, and each time I turned back to have a look at it, I knew it was the best purchase I've ever made in my entire life. And nope. It was stock.
I wanted you to make “so want a Audi S4” updated version but I realized this is kinda the same thing
Nah it's a different platform.
But it's a different platform. The engines are sideways.
After having one for almost a year, I’m ready for a video called “you don’t want an Audi S4”
fastboatster why? What year do you have? I have a 2011 and its a dream to ride
I've heard this man make references to Childish Gambino, Naruto, Runescape, and League of Legends. All while talking about cars. i would like to buy him a beer.
I'm still waiting for "So you want an N54" or "So you want a e9x 3 series"
Zach Veldman yea they’ve done some whack cars an not a controversial borderline legendary engine
Yes, want that video too
I'm not missing out on that vr6 sound..I hear it every day in my corrado.
I love how you repeated yourself about 50 times in order to stretch out this video past the 10 minute sweet spot
Cries in Volkswagen Eos, it’s quite the sleeper tho
My car wasn’t getting done this year anyway but ima point fingers at the Rona for ruining it
Wasn't expecting that TSM burn halfway through the video
Finally a Jetta vid gotta say mk6 sport wagon is where it’s at tons of space and tons of fun no complaints well engineered machines extremely easy to modify
I had a tuned mk4 and besides a coolant leak that really should've been looked at before the leak it was a perfect car
Who the fuck dislikes videos with awesome editing, actually a really funny guy and a whole bunch of good information?
I love my jetta so much I crashed it and instead of totaling it I shilled out over 4K to get it fixed this car is a fucking gift from God
Im not alone in the world, yessssss

I'm thinking the mk6 facelifts might be more collectable in the future considering they only ran for a few years and have a the non mqb 1.8t in them.
lemon thumb we can’t do shit with the non mqb 1.8
@@jothamzubia @lemonthumb As someone who until recently owned the Facelift '15 Sport trim with the 1.8 for just over 4 years, I'd like to add a little to this. I love the MK6 Facelift look, and honestly if they hadn't done the facelift, I probably wouldn't be here right now. However, a lot of the parts for the 1.8 in terms of exhaust and intakes are compatible with the more performance oriented 2.0. Having now just purchased a 2018 MK6 GLI, the pickings are still slim. EuroTuning has a few more exterior styling options for the GLI over the 1.8 given the different front and rear bumper designs. The 2.0 also opens the doors to more off-the-shelf tunes from companies like Unitronic, APR, and I think COBB just put one out too, BUT, its sad to see that even in the MK6 model year, aftermarket companies still favor the GTI by 10x. I do understand that from a business sense though - definitely more GTI's on the road than GLI's, but from my heavily biased POV, it'd be great to mod this car to my hearts content the same way an individual could with a standard GTI. With that being said, going back to the root of the conversation of VW's holding value, I don't think the Jetta's will hold much value, not even the GLI's. I think the Golf R's over the years will far exceed the collecting ability and desire than any modern Jetta on the road today.
I've owned 2 mk2 Jetta GLIs and a mk3 GL. Always thought of my mk2s as a poor mans E30. Also the 2.0l 16v in the mk2 is an awesome motor that responds well to tuning. And one on throttle bodies... whoa mama!!! So sweet!
Can we maybe get a uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh "So you want a Porsche 944"?
MK3 will always be my favorite. Had a 98 Jetta and a 97 GTI VR6.. sold both.. biggest mistake ever. Hopefully I’ll find one soon enough.
Duuude, ruedas is the combo of tyres and wheels, wheels alone are “llantas”, but you are improving pretty damn quick ;). Greetings from Spain, keep doing banging videos!
Sitting in Mk 6.5 5 spd 🕹:)
SO YOU WANT A GIRLFRIEND
Got a Mk6 Jetta last year. Immediately after driving off the lot I had to get an oil change because the oil light came on, New tires because the dealer stuck garbage tires on it, new springs because those were completely shot, new wheel bearings on both front wheels because those were done for, and a wheel alignment. It still needs more work done to it, like new wheels because 2 of them have massive dents in them causing the steering wheel to shake at highway speeds, new trans fluid, and a timing chain because they are supposed to be replaced every 60k miles and I'm positive the last owners didn't do it. I guess it's an alright car just get it checked out before you buy one as with any used car.
They can be money pits, but they are worth it!
