    I just started my journey with Low carb and intermittent fasting. These are some great tips, and I love thinking about what maintenance would look like. So far the initial weight loss has been so so fast, but I know that none of it matters if it keeps coming back over and over again. Thank you for these videos.

    I told my husband that I truly believed my knee pain was from sugar. I’ve been intermittent fasting and have drastically cut down on sugar. We went to a retirement party and the next day my knee hurt so so bad and the cheesecake and cake I ate at the party were the only things I could say contributed to the pain. Thanks so much for this information.

    The main reason alcohol stalls weight loss is because the liver will always work first on processing it, no matter how few carbs you ate throughout the day. You’ll never get into fat-burning mode because the body is trying to “burn” (process) the alcohol. It of course adds calories (and carbs if you’re having beer or sugary drinks), but the alcohol itself, needing to be processed, is the main reason.

    Be careful with the electrolyte packets. Especially if you have blood pressure or cardiac issues. 1000mg is a lot because when you think about cooking with salt as well. Cardiac patients usually only can take 2000 mg for example need to be on a low sodium diet. But that one packet has 1000mg. That’s a lot

    For me: Keto diet with Intermittent Fasting. I gave up gluten,alcohol,grains, processed carbs, seed oils veg oils,most peanut foods except occasional organic peanut butter but pour the oil off, most starches and only after 3.5 years I rarely eat after cooking and 24 hr refrigerating creating RESISTANT starches mostly purple sweet potato and unripe green plaintain. I gave up all fruit for 2 years and now eat only small amounts once a day or every other day like 5-6 raspberries or blueberries or 1/4 grapefruit or 1/4 cup organic cranberries or 2 tablespoons of pomegranate or 1 unripe kiwi or 1/3 or 1/2 of smaller unripe wild crabapple or 1/3 or 1/2 wild unripe dwarf pear ( I eat unripe fruit as it has less fructose but they have all the nutrients and I just add my stevia/Erythritol to sweeten them to taste. Also occasionally very green hard unripe mango I use a potato peeler to make slices to top goat cheese on quality keto toast and the sprinkle the mango with stevia and throw real thin layer Swiss cheese on top. Sometimes embed walnuts or pecans in the goat cheese and sprinkle Ceylon Cinnamon inside this open face sandwich treat. Also gave up all lectins and nightshades for 3 years but now I’m adding deseeded organic tomatoes and yellow & orange deseeded bell peppers back in for the lycopene and the polyphenols. Also adding back in organic beets in smaller portions of cold Borscht to help get more nitric oxide development in my body. I lost the 40 lbs. I needed to.and am maintaining the loss. I’m 70.5 yrs. & diabetic.

    I completely cut soda of any kind unless I'm sick! All I ever drink is water and coffee and have been maintaining that for 13 years. I just don't want it anymore. I also went from putting creamer in my coffee to just putting 2 teaspoons of stevia in it. About 3 years ago I decided to try and see if I could get myself down to black coffee with just a little sweetener in it and i did it.

    I’ve been eating ketovore for a bit now, it’s helped me lose more weight. I had the gastric sleeve about 5 months ago and my weight-loss has been slow because I didn’t have a ton to lose. Since I’m super limited to what I can eat anyway, cutting out everything has helped. I try to only eat vegetables that have protein in them,to help with my protein intake, of course only after I eat my meat protein first. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, and love everything you have to share! Thank you!

    I have 37 food allergies and it was a big shock when the doctor handed me the results of the allergy blood test. I already knew I had dairy and gluten allergy but the rest was a big shocker; like lettuce. Although he said I could have some because it was low on the allergy list. There was seasoning, too, like turmeric, black pepper, ginger (powdered and root). It's rough and I'm still going through an elimination process.

    • @leni0210
      @leni0210 3 місяці тому +1

      I had a similar experience, I took an allergy test at my doctor's office and it came back with 30+ foods I was allergic to. I was shocked and couldn't believe it. Then I checked into a certified clinic where they analyze in detail what you're allergic to, including gut inspection and colposcopy. I spent two full weeks there and the first 5 days they have everyone on a strict rice and potatoes diet to reset your body. The they perform blind tests with several different potential allergy triggers on you (you have to swallow it dissolved in water and you don't know what you're ingesting). I had to journal every day how I felt after the test, had blood test every morning. After two weeks they told me I had a gluten intolerance as well as soy and casein allergy. I'm avoiding these things ever since and no longer suffer from allergy symptoms.
      TLDR get a second test (preferably a long term, detailed test at a certified clinic) before avoiding 37 foods for the rest of your life.

    I know what you are saying is correct. The trouble is my husband eats all this stuff and doesn't have an issue. That would require me making separate meals, so that doesn't work. I will try and cut back on bread (gluten), don't have a problem with pop, don't drink a lot of alcohol, sugar for sure, and I don't eat or drink a lot of dairy. Try to use olive or avocado oil on a regular basis. Thanks!! It makes me more mindful.

      Either your husband adapts and encourages you by eating with you and not bringing bad stuff home or he has to go. Sorry to say this, but so many people go through this situation, me included and if your partner isn’t conscious of your struggle they’ll make you become somebody you’re not instead of the best version of yourself.

    I just bought myself a Soda Stream... not because I love sweetened soda ...but I love seltzer. I also battled IC... and my bladder gets irritated if I do not stay to the alkaline side ... so I drink an ionized high alkaline water... the soda stream helps me have my
    High alkaline water with as much bubbles as I want! And I can add flavoring to it should I want it to have a hint of a flavor ... without added sugar or artificial sugar.
    And yup- gluten can cause bloating - and yup... dairy is notorious for causing sinus congestion and allergies- this l learned forty years ago when I ran a health food store.
    But.... sometimes you just have to have that zero carb tortilla or a low carb Hawaiian roll Lol!
    It's about finding your own personal balance!
    You look wonderful as always!

    I'm always surprised that people don't understand that adding syrup, honey, and other sweeteners completely destroys your diet. People also don't realize how snacking on some chips while cooking, or alcohol, and small extra eating between meals DESTROYS results. It should be common knowledge but it isn't. Track your food. Every calorie for a week and see how much you actually take in. It will change your life. Losing weight takes REAL sacrifice. Then eventually it's easy to change your habits.

    • @jessicafrye4543
      @jessicafrye4543 3 місяці тому +1

      I don't think that it's not uncommon knowledge. I think the problem is cognitive dissonance which is a psychological state that occurs when someone has conflicting beliefs, ideas, or actions, and experiences discomfort or tension as a result. The answers are so simple that even when they hear or see the truth for what it is they are frozen or stuck Plus our government and how it regulates food and drugs is preventing us from living our best lives. Keeping people sick is far more profitable than if we actually healed people. Which is why achieving health is so hard for so many people.

    Sometimes your weight doesn't change or you gain, but your body composition changed. I listened to a live stream yesterday where they discussed gaining lean muscles which made the scale stay stable or rise. In my own experience, I can flatten my problem areas but my weight stays the same.

    As a Celiac person, it is harder to find low carb AND gluten free products. Glad I can make some things at home and more companies are being conscious of the low carb gluten free needs of people like me.

    I’m kinda confused so hope this isn’t a silly question: how would you suggest not eating dairy when you include cream cheese in several of your recipes? Or are you suggesting to cut down on certain forms of dairy?

    I agree with 'making things at home'. Meal prepping or even grocery prepping ;having fresh and organic on hand. Clean eating is so worth it and way less than eating out. Besides fast food had really become out of touch with inflation. (two orders of egg rolls& 1 order veggie fried rice was $45 dollars in Minneapolis! ) I nearly choked. But it shamed me to get on the plan and stick to it. Steak and a mini salad is so much more spending$ on a $25 Porterhouse steak to split with hubby. God bless you Mya and happy fall, whatever that looks like in your neighborhood.

    When I want something fizzy to drink, I have carbonated water with lemon, and it's enough for me. I only drink this when I'm having a meal, usually only once every couple of weeks or so. I was never one to drink soda all the time before I went keto, so it's not been the adjustment for me that it's been for others. Just a suggestion.

    When did you start reintroducing these things or did you not cut them out completely? I have noticed a lot of your recipes or even things you buy from Costco contain dairy.

    I hear you. I am totally the same about the diet soda and needing the fizz. I quit for 3 weeks and drank Pellegrino or flavored sparkling water instead. Sadly I started drinking the diet soda again. I need to stop. It bloats my belly. Dr. Mindy Pelz says if you can only do one thing, eliminate the bad oils. How can you have honey or maple syrup on Keto? I love honey. It has been explained that our body sees alcohol as a foreign substance. So it will stop fat burning while it tries to get rid of the alcohol.

    Gluten is so hard and expensive to maintain out of your diet. But definitely sparkling water is amazing! Thankfully I’ve never enjoyed alcohol so that’s an easy one for me.
