Long story short, I came from a large family. 9 children and there was very little food to feed us. Went to bed hungry most nights. So when I grew up, I decided that I didn’t want to be hungry any longer. I had my own money and I began to eat all the food I wanted and all the food I had been deprived of. No more hunger. So in the meantime, I gained 100 pounds over a few years and developed diabetes. I said enough is enough and took hold of the situation and now I am down to a normal weight and I maintain it. I omitted all the sugar and junk food. By the way, I battled a brain tumor during this time. I realized that if I can get thru a brain tumor removal, I can do anything. Thank you Jesus.
Ooo you did well
Jesus never fails us 💛

I was diagnosed borderline diabetic/ insulin resistant a few months ago. You and your channel have been an inspiration to me and has helped me lose 35+ pounds in just 3 short months. My goal is to lose another 40. I have reversed my high blood pressure, my bad cholesterol, and my blood sugar levels are getting back to normal again. This channel has helped me find foods i really enjoy that i can actually eat, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hi! How does one check for insulin resistance (I’m not diabetic)
@@gayatrikathuria9794labs...your Dr will check your A1C and a number of other markers. The Dr will investigate this by your lab results, symptoms, calculate your BMI and other indicators such as hypertension and abnormal thyroid labs. The underlying diagnosis for insulin rest.which is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus begins with metabolic syndrome. T2 d m always involves insulin resistance and arguably high insulin levels always circulating in your body which cause the weight gain of adipose tissue at the gut, back and other places in the body depending on ones body type. Its a vicious cycle...

I was 340 lbs. I lost 120lbs. I had high blood pressure and was not feeling good at all. I had an encounter with the Lord Jesus and it changed everything. I workout regularly riding my bike or jogging, and try not to eat fast food or processed foods as well. I also do fasting which helps me tremendously. I am on a 40 day fast of no food just water. I'm on day 33 right now and I've lost another 48lbs so far. Eating fresh organic foods is the best thing for us. Here in the United States the food is meant to slowly kill us and keep big pharma companies rich off us being sick from the fake food we eat. It's terrible when you actually see the truth behind it.
How do you do a 40 day fast?
@@NicoleRaquel91 no food for 40 days just water. I had coffee at the beggining but then stopped that as well. I also had help from the Holy Spirit. Was not easy but I did it. It will definitely humble you.
I have to loose 90 lbs. I just found your channel, I’m going to start making the food you make on here. I NEED to change everything. Thank you for this video.
Hi, welcome ❤ I’m happy to help with healthier recipes but still delicious!
I highly recommend her channel to everyone that asks how my husband and I lost weight.. we have lost a combined 170 lbs and counting! I was searching for recipes that were tasty enough to sustain our new lifestyle and not make us feel like we were missing out. Mayra came through every time! ❤
I needed to make a lifestyle change because I had issues becoming pregnant and my doctors couldn’t figure out what it was so I did my own research and wound up finding keto/low carb would help solve several hormonal issues that I had so I started September 2022, by March 2023 my husband and I received the news that we were expecting our first baby after over 8 years of trying!! 💕
I said all this to hopefully encourage you to not give up, whether keto/low carb works for you or not, I hope you find a sustainable way to maintain a new lifestyle so you can reach your heath goals!
She's very professional

Take it one day at a time. Quantity and Quality. Myra is a great influencer. Don’t beat yourself up. 👍. You can do it‼️
Hit my highest weight (rock bottom) at 377 4 months ago! Since, I have lost 58 lbs. and feel amazing! I still have ways to go but I am so motivated! I have changed my diet (intermittent fasting, low carb, high protein diet), exercise (walking daily), and consistent sleep schedule. Your videos are such an inspiration! Thank you so much!
Well done! I am currently at my highest weight of 377, and seeing your post along with the video, really does give me hope. Thank you, and good luck with the rest of your journey.
Well done - keep going
Omg good job!!!! Go after it❤❤
That's wonderful. Just keep at what you are doing. I wish you great success! If you ever need support, reach out to supportive friends (avoid the ones that might pull you down). I have found such support so important.
You got this 💪
It took me 2 years to go from 275 lbs to 188lbs. I still have 20 lbs to go. I am a sugar addict. It doesn't go away, I had to severely reduce it. Ice cream is a trigger food for me. Everyday is one step forward. It's a lifelong process. I'm 40 and I wish I had done this earlier in life.
I have battled a sugar addiction as well. I feel you. It's not easy. One thing I have found helpful is there are tons of healthy dessert recipes without sugar. They use bananas or dates to make it taste good. It makes you feel like your eating dessert but there's no guilt. Good luck!! We can do this!!!
@bornonthesun thanks!!! We can do it!
Congrats! I am 75 and have only lost the weight and KEPT IT OFF recently. I will admit that I took Ozempic for 3 months but that was a year and a half ago. It did help get me off the sugar and I refuse to go back. I am very strict with myself. I love my new size. Keep going! You are close.
@janetlevy1338 thank you. It's a daily effort but totally worth it
What else did you do to lose weight besides reducing sugar?
It took me until I was in my 60’s to finally get real about my obesity and health. I have lost 90 pounds in the last 2 years. I’ve got 50 more to go. As a child of alcoholics I was/ am addicted to sugar. I still cannot kick the cravings completely. For me it has to be all or nothing. Even one little sweet treat can send me spiraling out of control. On the back of Primal Kitchen products the found says” eat like your life depends on it” I love that quote, it is so true. My other mantra ( although I don’t always abide by it) is, you can’t eat it if you don’t bring it in the house. Good luck everyone. It takes a lot of strength and dedication.
Me too!
That’s me!! One chocolate and I’m on a roller coaster of sugar addiction. I can’t seem to control it. I have to change.. it’s too tiring.

I'm not on keto, but I am fasting. I'm doing a 48-hour fast, maybe more if I feel okay. I'm on 34 hours, and I lost 7 pounds!
If you can balance your healthy fats and protein you won’t crave sugar.
Sorry to be negative but I couldn’t finish your video because for me the background music was distracting. I don’t know why people think background music is necessary. I have loved all your previous videos.

You described the Standard American diet. I’m Mexican American as well so I grew up eating beans and rice and hearty, healthy food when my mom was off of work and then fending for myself the days she worked which were a lot. My wake up call was being diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. On July 1, 2023 I started a low carb diet. I was 268lbs that day. Today, 12/27/23, I weighed in at 190lbs. I've still got some pounds to go, but the journey has been incredible, and rewarding. I've gone from a 2XL shirt to a large. My liver function blood tests are normal. I had microscopic blood in my urine for 10+ years. It's gone. Blood pressure medication for 15+ years. Gone. Erectile Disfunction. Gone. Sleep apnea. Gone! And you're 100% correct. The cravings stop. I was walking by Christmas snacks all week at work. Never felt the desire to have one. You can actually beat the food processors. And it feels great.
I have struggled all my life with my weight, and I am addicted to sugar. I am now in my late 60"s and yes I still struggle. Hearing you talk about sugar was like a eye opener!! I eat sugar all day, will even eat sugary things over real food. I will start today (again on this journey) thank you so much!! Lynn
Yes! The holiday baking always reels me in. The cookie fest is done. I have to give away all the sugary treats and am now replacing all the 'baking time' in my day with plenty of walking. Best of health to u, and Happy New Year!
I suggest to keep watching people like Myra. I love sweet food and although I have been off sugar and bad carbs for well over a year, I am still eating sweet things! I have berries and other fruit and use sugar substitutes as well. Unless you are too fearful of the substitutes, you can live a sweet life without the sugar. Good luck.
I’m starting today! I’ve been preparing and this is it. All the crap is out of the house.
How’s it going for you so far?

I lost 32 lbs doing a low carb diet and lifting weights.
My one tip that really has been my go to is making a bigger dinner so that you have lunch for tomorrow! Each and every day. This helped on those days where I’m heavy in work meetings and the last thing I want to do is figure out what to make for lunch. I already know what’s for lunch and it’s not going to ruin my eating plan!
If I do order pizza I have to get a small or I’ll struggle to not eat the whole medium. Whenever I eat cereal I would have it for dessert and end up eating 2 bowls every time. I ate everything you ate as a kid. I recently got the biggest I’ve ever got then randomly started getting suggestions for fasting videos, and herbal teas, and healthy recipes. I knew that was a sign. This is the best thing I’ve ever started and glad to have lost my 1st 20 pounds thank you Jesus 😭
I've been on my own journey dealing with sugar addiction and weight gain, so stumbling upon Myra's story was eye-opening. Her openness about her struggles and practical tips, like focusing on healthier foods and understanding triggers, shed light on the Aspect Health in managing weight and addiction.
I'm addicted to sugar.
I love the way you just decided “ this is the day “ and really changed your eating routine.
I’ve been struggling to lose the last 10-15 lbs of baby weight and I’ve decided it time to make some changes. I’ve been calorie counting regularly, I did a sugar detox, I cook most of my food, and I’m focusing on protein, fiber, and healthy fats. I’ stop eating after dinner. I’m starting to lose weight and I feel great! I initially did this for weight loss but I love how avoiding most processed foods and eating more clean ingredients is improving my gut health, I have less headaches, more stable energy, less bloating, clearer skin and even stronger thicker nails. In 10 days I’ve lost 2 lbs and I know more is to come. I know if I can make this a lifestyle I will get the physique and health I want.
I do so relate to your story!! I’m 51 yo and have been overweight for over 30 years. Hit 280lbs but didn’t feel it. Just like you I knew I was overweight but that didn’t really bothered me. I didn’t own a scale so I really didn’t know I was so heavy. Until one day I went into my son’s room and he had bought a scale for himself and I decided to weigh myself…what a shock!! 280lbs!!!! I felt something click and right there and then I decided that I needed to do something or else…that was August/23. Today, 12/27/23 I hit 230lbs so, 50lbs less and I know I still have that much to loose…but I’m not doing any crazy diets I’m just trying to reeducate myself and trying to better my relationship with food. It’s a fight! A hard one at that! But I know I can do it!!! I’m doing it!!
Wow! Proud of you!! Keep going forward!!!
Wow! So inspiring! I’ve watched Myra for over a year. Love her videos. I go back and watch these over & over😊She’s genuine!! I need to lose about 60 more lbs, (lost 35 last year) …slow, but I can feel it! Takes a lot of mental awareness as well! Hope you are still losing! Hi Myra!! I want to start of by saying, I love your content. You are one of my favorite Instagram pages. I was addicted to sugar and processed foods. I have about 65 lbs to lose overall and down 10 so far. I am almost 45 and it is harder than it used to be but I am making a small dent in it so far. Hearing your story is great as most, were never really “obese” and just had a little weight to lose to be healthier. Thanks for sharing.

I use MyFitnessPal and I am accountable for every calorie that I put my mouth. I lose about a pound to 2 pounds a week.
Your story sounds incredibly similar to mine! Sugar was my addiction. A graduation picture was my sobering moment. I cried looking at the person I saw! Now, > 60Ibs lost and over 1 year later, I’m still triggered by cake. I legit get depressed when the serving size is over and struggle with sugar for days after I eat it. Wonderful transformation for your health! I have battled my whole life. I had weight loss surgery which saved my life back in 2013. I lost of 100 as well. I still yoyo with 15 pounds. I loss it and regain it from carb addiction.
I emotionally eat to soothe anxiety.
I have 80% changed but still have a hard time with carb heavy foods.
Life long journey. I have several health conditions but refuse to give up.
For exercise I go to pool for therapy exercises and walk.

This video has been the MOST helpful. I was down almost 50 lbs. I was feeling good and then Thanksgiving came. I thought I was mentally prepared to "eat" with the family but... I haven't really stopped eating since then. I have fallen right back into the same pattern and I fought so hard to get out of since April. Now I'm 7 lbs. heavier and hating myself for letting myself get into this rut again. I don't feel any motivation like I had just a month ago. Please help!
Talk kindly to yourself. It’s okay to celebrate being with your family and get off the rails for a second. Rally around yourself. You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Aim your sight on your goal, move towards it with consistency. And never ever forget to talk kindly to yourself. When you are your own friend, that friend is going to support you no matter what. Faith in yourself will grow. You got this. Love, from a sister that lost 50 pounds in two years 2018-2020.
7 pounds can easily be lost, don’t beat yourself up!! I’ve lost and kept off 30 pounds for the last 3 years.
I'm exactly at the same place as you! For me it wasn't the family trigger that derailed me but a one year old teething 🤦🏻♀️ started by being too tired to exercise, then compensating with food combine with sleep deprivation ... Gain 10 pounds in like 2 months 🤦🏻♀️

I relate so much to you! Most of my weight gain is from childhood and my diet was absolutely the same as you as a child. Great video Mayra. Sugar and carb addiction is literally the devil. Its a hard habit to break for sure. I've kept 70 pounds off. But once I start on the keto treats and chips, its hard to stop those too. I don' t deny myself anything but I keep it to a minimum as most processed foods inflame my body. My weight is now good, but I want to lose 5 more pounds and it is a struggle for sure. Have a happy New Years.

Thanks for sharing and yes! Would love to know more about getting your bloodwork done and what to be on the lookout for
I would love to know details on your bloodwork. I lost 30 pounds and you definitely helped me on some guidelines on better gut health choices. I am getting bloodwork done early January and would love to hear what your results are. Thank you for taking the time to discuss sugar and how you took steps toward leaving sugar! ❤
Thanks for the great videos. I've sent people here for sometime now. Hopefully, my story will help others. I'm 80, male, 5'6 and have weighed 195 for years. In spite of being that heavy my health is good for an 80 year old. Other than when the temp is below 55, I ride a bike daily 25 miles. I wasn't losing any weight. A friend of mine unable to get out of her wheelchair had lost 100# over 3 years. That motivated me to get with it. I went low carb and a modified Keto diet and skip breakfast and lunch. What people don't realize is that your body/brain will fight you. I didn't lose a pound for 2 weeks, then I lost 4 and a plateau. After a few days 5 more and another plateau. After about 6 months I'm plateaued at 25# , heading for 30-35#. I found that you are surprisingly not hungry skipping the 2 meals. It's too cold to ride the bike for a month or so now. I'm lazy so I'm not exercising which might explain the 25# plateau.
IMO the trick is to stick with it and accept the fact that it will take time. If I "need" a snack, I eat olives, a hard boiled egg or Pecans. Your recipes really help for variety. I'm down two pant sizes, and my blood work is better than it has been in 20 years. Obviously, when you hit your planned weight you CAN NOT go back to your old habits. I hope that at some point your brain will adapt to your new weight and not be fighting you.
I have found that you can cheat a little, as like going out to eat, and some alcohol. Congrats on your mission. Just remember a 25 miles walk starts with 1 step.
Thank you, Mayra, for this video .
Thank you so much @Mayra. Really appreciate your vulnerability on this channel. Happy New Year to you & all your loves 🎉🎉 May God continue to show us mercy in this crazy world. God bless your life girl. Your recipes are awesome!! My absolute favorite is flourless French toast - always a real hit.
The honesty in photos can be very powerful. Before I even started Kindergarten I was gnawing on my fingernails. To the nub. In my senior year of high school, people started bringing cameras and taking pics. When I later saw me in them, in all of them my hands were fists. Lovely. And just like that I realized I was ashamed of my ugly nubby nails. With that realization, I quit. I can easily relate to your story at 17. They say photos add 10 pounds. I say photos as brutally honest. Thank you for sharing some of your journey. I would be interested in hearing more about your blood work.
Out of all the people I've watched and followed you ARE the most non judgemental & relatable person. Deeply appreciated!!! Eating disorders beginning the mind!! Hugs!! I used to weigh 360, down to 275. Many food allergies & mostly vegetarian with fish! Sometimes I want animal protein yet after awhile I get burned out. The struggle will be conquered!!! Mostly doing LCHF:) MUAH❤
I found you this year and am so glad I did because I was literally on a similar journey and shifted my habits quite a bit.

You got it 💛
I am 61 years old. I lost 125# on Atkins back in 2013. Now I shudder to recall how much I cried cheese. lol. Btw I’m also a flexitarian. For the most part I choose a plant based diet. Rarely I eat carnivore. I regained all the weight. In 2011 I lost weight with calorie restriction. In 2018 I did Weight Watchers and lost 80+ pounds. Circa 2023 I learned to replace my favorite flavors and tastes with lower carb and calorie alternatives. I’m down 103# and feeling like this is a forever eating plan. I’m hoping to eat this way forever. I’m thankful for content providers like yourself for providing not only your story but tips, recipes and trials that have affected your journey.
Thank you for all you do. You are a great inspiration.
You make me feel so positive 😭 so grateful for you. I was having a bad morning and I put on this video and now I am feeling and thinking positively.
Thank you for this reminder ! I’m struggling, I’ve been ideal weight for many years . Covid years (last 3) I’ve gained 30 pounds and I’m trying to lose 25-30 pounds and I’m trying to incorporate your meals and also fasting. But I don’t have the same metabolism and it’s so frustrating to not see results . I don’t know how to break my fast with easy healthy meals
Photos are very revealing! I've been there. I'm on my weight loss journey, it's very slow bc I have PCOS. I've found cutting sugar & carbs was the start. Next was intermittent fasting and OMAD, regular ppl get incredible results- I didn't bc hormones. Adding the right supplements: Berberine, Inositol, ChromiumPic, LCartinine, NAC, Magnesium, GreenTea. Lastly, exercise- a simple 30+ min walk/hike. Get that sweat in has made a difference for me! I'm down 15lbs in three months, 50lbs to go. I want to get below 200lbs! I'm 35, Adrenal body type (weight all in belly).
Such a great story of strength and self love, Mayra. So proud of you. ❤❤

I don’t know you but I will pray for you ( hope that if okay). Talk to a good friend/maybe a therapist, too. 💕
Wow, I have listened to so many podcasts, fitness coaches, and more and this was honestly the most helpful and real honest thing I have seen. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for sharing your story.
I actually ate more veggies and protein and slowly I stopped obsessing over sugary products. The more you eat sugar the more your body will crave because it's not getting all of the vitamins & nutrients. You truly have to trick your brain by eating more veggies, all veggies all the colors it doesn't matter if you only have just broccoli or lettuce for a while either. It doesn't have to be expensive. We're made to eat goir our health. It's kinda like fancy makeup lines in those fancy bottles it looks so good but when you apply to yoir face it's really just cheap chemicals.
I absolutely agree! Sugar is so addictive and it’s so hard to break if you make it a point to! So proud of you for making that decision to eat more protein and veggies! Thank you for sharing your story 🥰
I changed my whole way of eating, no sugar, no soda, no junk and walked everyday for 3 months and my cravings never went away.
Did you reduce your carbs, carbs act like sugar in your body?
@snowwhite2709 oh yes I did. I ate clean and walked 2-3miles a day. The cravings did go away for about like 3 weeks but came back and I did push the cravings away and then 3 months it was too strong.
I've done it for a year. Still constantly battled with the cravings and eventually cave and gain the weight back
For women, hormones play a big factor in cravings. It's not as simple as going low carb and sugar cravings go away. There are certain female monthly hormones that make women crave eating chocolate and other sugary stuff. The body loses iron and will make you more hungry than usual in an effort to replace those lost minerals, whether those food choices are heslthy or not is a different matter.
@@susanna9831I heard taking magnesium Glycinate can help. If you’re too
Low in it, you can crave chocolate
Great video Myra! Love your story! I had always been 20 pounds overweight but always athletic. About 8 years ago I went on ww and once I switched to low carb I have maintained my weight ever since. I still like sweets and have them once in awhile.
Thank you for sharing! ❤
I would love to see you create a step by step course to walk us all through the process of changing our diets. Just full on information on how our bodies process things, the WHY behind it, encouragement videos along the way, recipes for making comfort food healthy so we don't feel like we're missing out,
etc.
Along with workout program
I’m diabetic and recently got serious about my health. Kicked sugar out of my diet about 3 months ago. I’m down 25 lbs. I have about another 50 to go. It’s amazing how much sugar is in everything! Thanks for your videos!
Just discovered your channel. I’ve been needing some inspiration on getting back on the healthy train and maintaining better lifestyle habits. Thank you 🙏 💜
You are real inspiration to me. Thanks myra
My wake up call was knowing I had soooo much free time. I was like wth am I doing wasting all this time? Lets workout! ❤️
Yes! It’s so important to move your body. Even it’s it’s a walk around the park of neighborhood.
I need to lose 30 pounds. As a mom of 6 and my last 2 are 14 months apart and csection. Im struggling with doing low carb. I purchased your ebook and needing motivation. Would love a full cookbook with exercises
You got this! Just take it day by day ❤️ I’ll keep that in mind 😊
You can do this. I lost 35 lbs at 65 by just keeping it really simple. I have 4 kids so I totally understand what you are up against. Be boring at first. Bacon and eggs, hamburger patties, etc.. Also determine your eating window and stick to that at first. (Intermittent fasting.) I've kept the weight off for a year and a half and it really does get easier. I'll be pulling for you!!
I also am a mom of 6 who needs to lose 30 lbs, lol. My youngest 3 are 6 year old twins and a 4 year old, and i work full time - the struggle is real 😅
I just have been watching you for a couple of weeks now and you’re so inspirational to me. I recently watched your all meat pizza and I know I can do this. It looks so good with that cheese crust. I need to lose about 100 pounds and I know I can do this I watch you and you are so inspirational to me. Thank you so much for doing this and For being there and putting these videos out, I have watched a lot of people on videos and you were the one I’ve chosen to be my inspiration or actually I think you choose me because just watching your videos I can see the honesty in your eyes thank you and you look magnificent.
