Nmoetoe actually, penne is better for “mac n cheese” because elbow macaroni is completely smooth and sauce doesn’t stick to it well. Penne has ridges and is rough so sauce better adheres so macaroni isn’t the best choice for “mac n cheese”
One thing I thought was really telling was at the end when Jack said that vegetarians can add vegetables to the mac and cheese. Jack apparently thinks that you have to be a vegetarian to eat vegetables.
I counted you had 647 strips of cheddar cheese, but after I grated mine I only had 645 strips. I'm worried it will not turn out the same! WHAT SHOULD I DO JACKY POO!!!?!?!?
He is literally missing eggs to hold it together and I know it's not seasoned properly. Most important the cheese sause should o been cooked same time or after boiling the pasta.😅😂 Cheese would of been hot and ready
Only thing I would add is toasted bread crumbs on top before baking. Gives it that nice crunch. I do add fried chicken, onions, garlic, broccoli, etc. when I make mac and cheese but I know that is not traditional. I think the bread crumbs are a necessity though. But yes Jack did a good job on this one
@CoryBoom yes. try chili powder and see if there is just chipotle powder. If not, chili alone will work fine. Swiss will work, too. side dishes would be some steamed green veggies. green beans or brussel sprouts or asparagus.
If you want a crisp top on the mac n cheese, put some breadcrumps. Makes it really good, and adds a nice crunch, so it isn't so... smooth! But good job Jack, looks good!
@CoryBoom thanks Cory. I have heard the term Roux before but didn't know that's what it was. i will try to use the right term in the future. Always a pleasure reading your input.
mmm that looks good. Something that is really good to do with mac n cheese is mix seasoned breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle it on before you put it in the oven.
Great show. In my house, if I were to film a you tube cooking show, the main purpose would be to keep my stove clean. Your stove is always clean, shaming me. ;)
Jack,do i have to bake it or could i possible just cook the pasta until it is soft and then add the sauce and eat? I am just wondering because it would make the cook time a little shorter for me.
this looks oh-so-good! once it got to the bechamel stage I was ready to get home and make some bechamel macaroni.. I'll have to try this recipe, haven't had real home made mac & cheese in 10 years, lol.
i think you should try a curry episode jack, i dont think you've ever done one before, and it would probally be a great hit on the people who watch your videos.
@ModestNeophyte your flour sounds find. You need to slowly melt the butter then slowly put the milk in the make the flour smooth out. Once all the milk is in make sure it's smooth and make sure this is all being done over a med flame. I'd try it again. You will nail this.
@ModestNeophyte 1 lbs is fine. I think it's a better size, too. Nice job. What was grainy about the cheese sauce? 3 cups of milk should have smoothed out the flour. let me know how it turned out.
My bro made a really amazing Mac & Cheese dish with a bunch of different chesses, but he also added bacon to it. I'll have to give him this recipe and ask to see if he can work some magic with it. Great as always. Also that parody was pretty funny.
Hey Jack, I've been wanting to make this for awhile. I'm cooking it right now. The cheese sauce is done, and the water is heating up. One problem though.. My cheese sauce is grainy.. and it seemed to take entirely too long for that sauce to thicken up before incorporating the cheese. Also.. 12 oz of pasta just did not seem like enough so i'm using the full 1 lb. box of barille pasta identical to what you used.
hey jack a few questions 1- i cant find the chipotle chili powder is regular chili powder acceptable 2- would swiss cheese work to top this off? 3- what kind of side dishes would you recommend with this dish?
Jack was low key salty about that parody video lol
What parody video?
@@princessofblueroses did you just not watch the video or
@@cale9747 I searched through the comments lmao.
Does anyone have a link to the full thing?
@RootedChrome i think the full parody is gone. Cant find it anywhere
You spelled inedible wrong
Lmao that's good
I woke my dog up cause you made me laugh 😂😂
This comment is gold lol
Burn
8/10 was an inside job since cr1tikal you guys are just blindly commenting his food looks bad on all of his videos. This doesn’t really look bad.
Has cooking show
Doesn’t know what gruyere is
Ha, cooking something I don't know how to do.
and instantly destroy it with chilli powder xD
groyer
Still needs that heaping tablespoons of mayonaise
Lol
*cooks dish with no meat in it*
For you vegetarians, you can add vegetables to this
I just got to this part and about threw up laughing
Mac and cheese
MAC and cheese
M A C and cheese
Jack: uses penne
Nmoetoe actually, penne is better for “mac n cheese” because elbow macaroni is completely smooth and sauce doesn’t stick to it well. Penne has ridges and is rough so sauce better adheres so macaroni isn’t the best choice for “mac n cheese”
@@charlie_mario6292 you could get elbow macaroni with ridges. The trader Joe's elbow macaroni has ridges.
I like your videos but I don't understand why you call all pasta Macaroni, Macaroni is a type of pasta, same as penne. This is Penne and Cheese :S
@GotWood? Bushcraft and more no, most Americans know the difference between noodles snd pasta, or atleast me and everyone i know
Fun fact: most Americans think that Germany is still divided by the Berlin Wall. To be honest : Americans are hilariously ignorant ;-)
islamophobischerharlekinpudelwelpe You’re mad funny. Everybody laughed
@@pizzapizza2225 really everyone??!
The dish is called macaroni and cheese, it doesn’t matter what pasta you use it’s still Mac and cheese.
You're killing me with your metal whisk in your teflon pan. YOU CANT DO THAT!!!! You will ruin your pans. Just an fyi.
faye langsdorf he doesn’t care, he’s jack 🤷🏾♀️
Is that the reason there are rubber whisks?
Smh
Who does not like some teflon flakes with their mac 'n' chesse?
how about you add some salt and pepper....
"groo-yair"
One thing I thought was really telling was at the end when Jack said that vegetarians can add vegetables to the mac and cheese. Jack apparently thinks that you have to be a vegetarian to eat vegetables.
Was that a stainless steel whisk used on a non-stick pot? :(

im dead
That's not mac and cheese. That's penne and cheese!
yes boiiiiiiii
Mmmmmm nothing better than metal scraps in my pasta because of you scraping it off by whisking in the pot
Ok that actually looks good, also the cooking process actually makes sense unlike some other videos where he just throws random ingredients in
I agree! I might try this recepie!
He is literally missing eggs to hold it together and I know it's not seasoned properly. Most important the cheese sause should o been cooked same time or after boiling the pasta.😅😂 Cheese would of been hot and ready

I am so glad you keep your stove clean! A lot of the people on YT with cooking videos have nasty stoves, and obviously don't clean it.
Something simple for Jack . Good can't make people sick
"why is it incredible? because it has four pounds of cheese in it."
Was what he ment to say.
I agree, nothing stands in the way of the king of sodium
@CoryBoom yes. try chili powder and see if there is just chipotle powder. If not, chili alone will work fine.

Awesomeness, I just ate and that stuff's got me wanting to eat MORE! When you were talking about adding meat, I was thinking, "Ham cubes!!!"
Lavenderrose73 dumb woman
@@adamdoesbmx3325 Whats your problem?
The pasta takes forever to boil why would you start it last?
The parody was more self aware than Jack.
i really liked this one, but he used someone elses recipe. thats why its so good
We tried this recipe, and it was hands down the BEST mac n' cheese we have EVER tasted!!!!!
where was the other mac and cheese you ate before? dumpsters?
@@jondickinson6830 It actually was really good, surprisingly.
@@KrunchyTheClown78 lol yeah this recipe seems pretty solid I just find most of jack's recipes atrocious lol
@pitchnswim if you stir often you don't need salt. Salt is used to help it not stick

I shall try this! thanks, you are a big inspiration to me, and many of us who watch your videos

I read this an inedible and it all made sense
GREAT JACK JOB!!

Off the chain is all I got!!!! Loving it
i did a similar one and before we put it in the oven we put sausages on the top they were a smoked sausage and holy cripes was it good!!

'its gonna be nice and spicy' that's gotta be the whitest thing I've ever heard 🤦🤣
I'm eating mine right now...turned out great!
You, foodwishes and freitasex has almost the same recipe but all different. That's why I love UA-cam.
If you talk about pre heating, do you mean degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or degrees Celsius (°C)?
@CoryBoom thanks Cory. I have heard the term Roux before but didn't know that's what it was. i will try to use the right term in the future. Always a pleasure reading your input.
Not long before he gets his own Food Network show.
I'm making this tonight for dinner! Stoked :)

Hay Jack, greetings from Germany...
Gruyere cheese is a special cheese from switzerland.
It is one cheese that is often used in "Cheese-Fondue".
Thumbs up for the Mac & Cheese and the clean stove.

Daniel Mallia right lol
None of Jack’s ‘recipes’ are particularly technical or difficult to execute. I’m sure you could do a better job of it than he does!
@orion1954 nice job. did you do the chipotle chili powder? that was the key. :D

You can still simmer it on the stove so that everything cooks together. I don't like it in the oven either.
do the Chile powder make it hot or jus give I a kick?
More like cheese & cheese
