Martha could never trill her "R"s like they do... These two fat ladies (at least one dead lady now; don't know if Jenny is still sucking air) wouldn't bother rendering Martha's corpse for its fat, let alone heeding her useless advice.
Giuseppe LoGiurato Unfortunately, both of them are gone. They were great. Julia Child was also charming. I also like Lidia Bastianich. She can cook her ass off.
Mariell Clement och, that's too bad; God rest their fat hearts... I remember this show from nearly 20 years ago... I also remember Lidia B; she is (was?) a great cook too; she reminds me of my grandma... maybe she still lives?
It was Jennifer's death half way through filming the fourth series that brought the show to an end. They filmed series 4 episode 4, and Jennifer died about a month later.
Some Americans will remember when this show was on PBS. My dad used to watch it and, even as a child, I just loved how quirky and different it was. The mixture of British travelogue, knockabout comedy and cooking program made for an entertaining, and quite charming, viewing experience. Love those two fat ladies!
I loved watching this show even now more than ever. It makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. I know that sounds strange but its true. Thank you ladies. Love it
Totally agree w you! I had to spend a lot of time in hospital in 2017 - 2019 and listening to their 24 episodes brightened the ordeal considerably! I'm sure the nurses wondered why I often had a grin on my face and sometimes an outright guffaw!
I have been binge watching these wonderful ladies for a week! I've now run out of their shows (sigh). I fell in love with both Jennifer and Clarissa. I'm sure they are cooking God and Jennifer's beloved saints wonderful meals in heaven. RIP you two. You are definitely missed!!
One thing that fascinates me about these two is how their pronunciation of English gave away the fact that they were born of the upper class. Their upper class upbringing very much contrasts their rebellious personalities. They'd sort of "fallen from grace," but they didn't act like they were slumming it. They weren't upper class anymore, but they weren't at all bourgeois. They were just themselves. What fabulous characters they were.
@creekboie She was not actually reared by nuns, but like many aristocrats of the time, she went to a convent school. Due to her lively shenanigans, she was expelled. This is all documented in a bio which can easily be found on YOU TUBE...
Clarissa conned her mother into changing her will and got 2.8 million which she drank away in 10 years ., ending up homeless ., her siblings got sweet FA
As you said they were upper class. Financial circumstances are completely independent of class. Bourgeois is the absence of class. You can lose all your money but you can’t shake off class quite so easily. Just as the bourgeoisie can have a pile of cash but have no class.
Crisssssssppppyyyyyy bacon. After all these years my wife and I can't forget these girls. Thanks a million for the upload. What a hellion young Jennifer was back in the day
When Cooking channel was first made I fully remember this was one of the first shows they aired and man was I instantly drawn to them! Their personality, their non-cliche style, and how every episode had such a cool concept was so satisfying. It also gave me a nice glimpse of UK while I'm all the way here in Florida! May these ladies rest in peace. Their legacy will live on (To me at least)!
Clarissa and Jennifer were fabulously entertaining, charming and had a no-nonsence approach to food and life! Clarissa, with her aristocratic ways and Jennifer who spoke posher than the queen - yet managed to knock up real homemade, comforting grub! The drivel that passes for television cookery shows and chefs has nothing on The Two Fat Ladies. Even the arrogant and very unentertaining Hairy Bikers have in a sense tried to replicate the magic formula of these two - and yet they just appear nauseating, part-time cooks. Clarissa and Jennifer both led fascinating lives even before their journeys into tv cookery. Although sad they have both left the world, we can relive the magic on UA-cam. Chris (UK).
Christopher Rowan Clarissa was a QC & a high functioning alcoholic which she talked about in a later programme. Jennifer walked the theatre boards for many years prior to doing this programme & her brother reported that she ran a protection racket at school &was expelled for bashing a girl with a roller skate.
UA-cam is kinda like that thing Superman has in the Fortress of Solitude (the memory crystals). Every bit of tv or video you can want, is likely here on UA-cam!
Dam brilliant. Super stuff. As always.. just realised ive never seen the ladies hand over any money for food! Always "put it on the account" hahahhaa thay aint stupid.
Their constant banter showed their vast interest, and knowledge of the world around them♥️♥️ They really seemed to enjoy life’s smallest joys. Such inquisitive minds
I died at the beginning with the sheep- Jennifer admiring there pretty black faces, and Clarissa noting they looked fat, plump and delicious!! They were just too much♥️♥️👏
I really enjoy watching these videos. This is the Britain that I love. If they made jokes about vegetarians nowadays then it would be reported as a hate crime.
How I miss these ladies. What a sense of joy and delight they brought to everything they did. Charming and wonderful women, both of them. And the trilling of the Rs, fabulously regal!
It's so nice to watch these again. I loved them as a kid. I watched every Sat they were on the local PBS cooking lineup in the afternoon. Great memories and so comforting. Nice to revisit a time before the damn cell phone explosion. Never see one of them on this show. Best cooking show ever! I liked this and the Frugal Gourmet. My Father's family was from England 🇬🇧 so I've always felt at home watching The 2 Fat ladies show, brought me alot of comfort back then.
I often wondered where she bought the tops that Jennifer wore often. I loved the style and it looked very posh but comfortable. Love these two ladies to bits!!!! Bless their souls.
They are still soothing to me now. Spent a lot of time in hospital a few years back and binge-watched these episodes, finally drifting off to sleep between blood-lettings...
I loved Clarissa and Jennifer, they were amazing! the food network is a sad former version of itself, this and Molto Mario, Essence of Emeril were my favorites. Miss The Two Fat Ladies, glad I found them on UA-cam.
So great to see these uploaded - I absolutely loved this show as a young girl, and I think the ladies were such amazing role models for girls and women as well, in the sense of living your own lives despite mistakes, and not taking bs from people.
Ross Cicero I agree, why did they stop? Something to do with vehicle safety or road regulations? I remember Olive from On The Buses in one and it separated off the bike around the corner.....lol.
Zaracha Stellaris Yes it is, very old fashioned though, used to drink them way back on the cruise ships. 2 oz Cognac, 3/4 oz Lemon juice, 3/4 oz Triple sec, although bourbon can be substituted for brandy.
When this aired and I first saw Jennifer use bacon with her meatloaf, I got the idea to try it, too. Except I use a loaf pan, and I line the pan with strips of bacon, then add the meat, then fold the strips up over the top.
Sounds just like Clarissa's Mitton of Pork (said to have first been concocted by Squire Mitton), only filled with the meat mixture... Bacon can be so intoxicating when added to almost anything!
I bought their dvd's a long time ago and I bought their cook books. I enjoy them. I use to watch them when they were on PBS on Saturday mornings years ago. They're gone now...I thought they were such a hoot!
I think they lived their lives the way they wanted to. They didn't compromise anything to please others. They weren't perfect and they didn't try to hide their flaws or put on airs. Instead they simply did what they loved and stayed true to themselves. We should all aspire to be like Jennifer and Clarissa.
I love these ladies....they are the best...their banter and stories are just treasure filled humor and good will through cooking.... RIP dear lacies xo
TEEHEE "It looks like Tiggy Winkle"! Not really surprising there'd be a Beatrix Potter reference from Jennifer, but still a delightful "did I just hear that right?" moment =D
loved watching these 2 ladies. jennifer with her motorcycle/sidecar and Clarissa with her poetic phrases. wonderful cooks. i would have loved to dine with them and try their delicious meals. quiet different from what we in America dine on. splendid videos.
These ladies did a great, and entertaining job with cooking in the retiring time of their lives. These women with their personalities gave me a sense of inner balance. If I felt out of sorts, or uncomfortable with anxiety or time to sleep, this is one of my comfort shows I choose from. I watched them then and I still will today, tonight...❤
"All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten these little hands, but nevermind..."
I love Jennifer.
quoting Shakespeare obviously
Macbeth
God rest both their souls. From Jennifer's flamboyant red fingernails to Clarissa's wonderful way with words I loved watching this show.
I can watch these two ladies all day, every day. They were so delightfully entertaining. Martha Stewart's got nothing on the Two Fat Ladies.
Martha could never trill her "R"s like they do... These two fat ladies (at least one dead lady now; don't know if Jenny is still sucking air) wouldn't bother rendering Martha's corpse for its fat, let alone heeding her useless advice.

The mixture of British travelogue, knockabout comedy and cooking program made for an entertaining, and quite charming, viewing experience. Love those two fat ladies!
That's how I came across it
"They can't expel me, I'm much too old and I'm leaving!" Love British humour!
"I'm much too old and I'm leaving"
I want that in Latin on a family crest. 😝
Still watching after all these years. How much I miss these two wonderful ladies.
Rip
Love Jennifer’s accent “there will probably be vegetarrriaaaaaans”.
Then she usually breaks into a limerick, lyric or hilarious poem. Absolutely ADORED her❤️❤️
@@88pynogrl she was/is exceptional, very rare, and wonderful.
My mother loved this show. I have many treasured memories of watching with her. Now I watch with my girls. We still love this show!

I so concur. And no, it doesn't sound strange at all.

I think Jennifer was raised by the nuns I think she was an orphan as a child if I’m not mistaken.

:-) Jennifer doing her impression of the Tin Man!
Jennifer on talking about cooking for Prince Charles..
"I'm cleared, I've already cooked for him"...
Man: "Cleared for what?". :) 5:55
Watching these two ladies is like eating comfort food for me. Good wholesome stuff from an age that I fear has almost gone.

Brilliant. I'm going to try some of these really easy recipes. Real, proper cooking.
Jennifer is so adorable as the tin man. I absolutely love her. What a wonderful personality. ❤️
Clarissa,"I've got a kitchenalia fetish". Great word. Thank you for these memories.💗
Jennifer Paterson took pride in her appearance as always
I loved these ladies when I was younger. Their accent and chemistry was so soothing to me then.
Yep, their accents always lulled me to sleep
This was one of the best cooking shows ever on T.V.

Ross Cicero Yes but a long time ago.
A sidecar is also a kind of mixed drink

Their infamy came too late for us all to enjoy their wonderfully full lives. They could have been with us all so much sooner. Always loved.
"A dog, a woman and a walnut tree, the more you beat them, the better they be. "
One of the funniest things I've ever heard on a cooking show.
An alternative version is " a boy, a wife and a walnut tree" etc
