    Clarissa and Jennifer were the Jeeves and Wooster of cooks. Their scathing wit, hilarious banter and cultural references made for a positively delicious (pun intended) viewing experience! I miss them terribly. The world is definitely a bit darker without the light they brought to it.

      I couldn't agree more. I so love and enjoy these 2 ladies. I know that they both have passed on a very long time ago. But I love their Banter .I am an American and couldn't agree more what they said about the food tasting flavourless.We have to most of the time add tons of spices to the foods we prepare to get any type of taste at all. It is so very sad. When I raise my own food is the only time that it tastes like the food looks.

    Love this show and as an American, I completely agree that seed companies and grafters have bred the flavor out of everything. I don't think it is because Americans are afraid of flavor. I think Big Business cares more about how fruit and vegetables travel and last rather than taste. In other words, they are concerned with the profit rather than taking pride in the product. I buy my seeds from Seed Savers to keep old varieties alive. We should all be saving heirloom seeds.

      Try Fedco, in Maine, or Johnny's Selected Seeds, also in Maine, for additional varieties. just ran across Farmacie Isolde, and additional source, though I've never tried them. Happy planting (later in the year!)

    • @Iblameyouu
      @Iblameyouu Рік тому +2

      @@gabrielleangelica1977 I’m going to have to agree with you. I was just talking to a friend about this today. I never really liked how British dishes looked very bland. Mince this pie that, and when they did add spice to anything it was more because of influence from a land colonized by the English.
      I love these ladies but even looking at a full English breakfast, to me, it looks very bland and uninteresting. I never thought to look up a British recipe to cook because it maybe contain 2-4 spices at max. My pallet is Spanish and Caribbean and African American and in that mix we use a many type of different spices.
      Even when they season their food on this show, I notice other cultures make sure the spices are in the meat and that they stick. I feel with their meats the seasoning just seeps into the juices on the side because they fall off. My mom pokes holes in pork shoulder and adds spices in the holes and garlic among other things. They season vaguely and then add a watery something to it so you’ll taste it at the top but subtly but on the inside it will taste like nothing.
      Some of their things I would try but a lot of the times I’m yelling at the screen like no no no infuse the meat better lol
      I know in some of their dishes they use Mediterranean or Spanish influences based off their travels but it’s meh… to me lol

      @KevinSigman Рік тому +6

      They didn't really HATE each other, per se, but they were not quite the close friends that they were portrayed as on the show. I believe it was described by one or both of them as a "work colleague" kind of relationship. Sort of like how you might have a pleasant and friendly working relationship while on the job, but that coworker isn't a part of your life outside of the context of that job. They both acknowledged that they had a sort of chemistry on screen that worked a treat (obviously). And just like anyone, I am sure there were things each found annoying or irritating about the other. Clarissa, though, had said that Jennifer was very supportive of her post-recovery teetotaling, so there was at least SOME genuine warmth of feeling between the two, despite any differences.

    I wasn’t keen on Golden Delicious Apples either, but my neighbour had a Golden Delicious tree and gave me a bucketful of freshly picked apples. I was very thankful for the consideration and wondered what to do with them. Well, they lived up to their name of delicious, because freshly picked Golden Delicious tastes nothing like the store bought ones! As with most produce, growing your own will always taste better!💛🍏

      chrish12345 yes but those woman were pompous...of course people in English still love cream cakes and custard on puddings. Given how those woman looked I'm guessing many of them weren't taking their own advice on avoiding sweet cakes...

    I'm amazed what they both got away with saying! Like the reference to "Last Tango in Paris" and slagging off the Dutch. Never on today's TV would you ever hear such a thing. The world was good when it wasn't so ruddy PC.

      Just been checking the comments to see if anyone else picked up on the "Last Tango" reference. You couldn't put that to air these days, as morbid as it is, still hilarious!! People have become hypersensitive, attention seeking pussies, shows like this are relics of a better time.
