I have both the CTB26 and the CTB20 and the former gets used at least once a month for shorter 3-4 day trips. Zero complaints and I appreciate how EG has been thoughtful with the design. The top quick access pocket is perfect for the CAP0.5 I use for my tech accessories.
@@tkozikow As of now, still my favorite bag to travel with and just overall one of my favorite bag designs period. Not perfect, but about as close as it gets! It just works so well for me.
@Pack_roam this bag seems to get universal praise from reviewers which you rarely see. I do, however, find it hard to distinguish between some of their products and I never could figure out how to make the CAP1 work for me, but I have three of the CAP0.5 along with the packing cube which I use on every trip. I just wish the zippers were easier to distinguish.
Finally Kevin has reviewed the CTB26. I one bag it last weekend to visit my girl in Indonesia and it was awesome. It was packed to the brim and it fits perfectly under the seat of the budget airlines over here in Malaysia. It was so fun to travel with this bag. Quick update: I'll be getting the Goruck DC18 Tidal Blue from a local EDC community member by end of September along with the CAP 0.5 he's letting go. Thank you Kevin for your reviews.
@@KelvinHew7 Finally got to the CTB26! Thanks for watching! That’s the best way to describe this bag… it’s just fun to travel with. The 18L DC Bullet is another bag that’s fun to use. Great size, great layout. I pre-ordered the second offering of the black/coyote x-pac CAP 0.5 after they sold out first time around. No idea when that’s coming. October I think they said? They’ve got the black and orange in stock right now, may order one. What do you think of the new Transit Briefcase?
@@Pack_roam the new Transit Briefcase is Evergoods goodness in terms of the internal organization and materials and it will be a very good option in the briefcase segment of carry. I see there are other tech briefcases which I can't remember, so it's a good move from Evergoods from a business standpoint.
I love this bag so much, I have 3 of it - regular 420D coyote, just like yours, a black X-pac one and a tan Griffin 2 waxed canvas. Also have both black and the new OD green CTB20.
I always keep either a rolled up rain cover or extra socks at the bottom of the frame sheet compartment. This prevents the back digging issue when not fully packed.
Thanks! True, and frustrating. I was tired of waiting for the black, so I got coyote. Will say though, I do like the coyote more than I thought I would.
Technically, I don’t think either of them fit personal item size limits. I primarily fly United for work travel, and they definitely both exceed their “personal item” size limits. From experience, I’ve never had an issue getting the CTB26 under seat and it’s 9” deep. I don’t have a 26L GR2, but it’s spec’d at 7.25” deep. I would think it’d fit under a seat just fine. The 40L GR2, on the other hand, will NOT fit under a seat fully loaded out. Learned that the hard way.
My only complaint is that it's pretty heavy for a travel bag. I would love to see them make a version with Dyneema or Robic or something else light weight.
For rucking, i'll chose a GR Rucker. For almost anything else i'll chose Evergoods. Jack designed the GR1 and while it's a classic, I believe EG is miles ahead in almost every regard for EDC, travel, and crossover use. His partnership with Kevin has produced banger after banger of thoughtfully and smartly designed products.

@@KelvinHew7 I’ve had one in my cart for two days. Debating…
Thanks for the review on this. Appreciate the details and also the honest pro con list at the end. Also appreciate the additional bag recommendations.

@@houserhythm Such a great bag. I’ve got the Griffin as well, and I’ve been strongly considering the 20L and the 35L.

Great review, one of the best I have seen. I just wish you could actually buy one. The dyed black has been out of stock for months.

How does this bag compare to the GR2 26l? I’m primarily concerned with which of the two bags can hold more and still fit in a personal item sizer .

It took me a while to come around to EG, but we’re on the same page.
Except it jams a sharp ridge in my lower back.
Goruck, mystery ranch, osprey, Gregory, ... All comfortable except EG (exception for my mpl22)
