I've had this bag for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. It's the kind of bag that makes me want to travel more just so I have more reasons to use it. The pocketing layout, on body-comfort, and high build quality make it a joy to use. Plus those water bottle pockets are my favorite on any bag
@@sinthur5435 The stretch material of the pockets feel really high quality compared to the mesh pockets on other bags. I have no concerns with it breaking or losing it's stretchiness. The bottom of the pocket is also folded in a way where it opens up flat on the bottom when there's a bottle in there. That plus the way the material is both tight and stretchy makes it so it fits all sizes of water bottles really well and keeps them secure. The pockets also stays flush to the side of the bag when not in use. Just all-around high quality and well thought out design
I'm a big Evergoods fan and I have the 35L version of this bag and I love it. I picked up the 26L yesterday and will be using it for one bag travel when flying with my working laptop. I have yet to be disappointed with Evergoods.
The king of truly solo travel/one bag/edc backpacks especially if you are a digital nomad. Just the right amount of organization, not excessive. People will appreciate the separate laptop compartment and quick access pockets when going through TSA.
hello pack hacker! I wish you could review the evergoods mpl22 😊 you're the only channel out there that shows how the bag looks like when it's worn by a female 😊 thanks!!
I have had it for only some weeks, and absolutely loving it as an EDC. However, I don’t feel as the front pocket and the interior mesh pocket share space, since I have both constantly filled up with bulky items and don’t seem to interfere.
It's not supposed to interfere based on evergoods construction philosophy of liter-independence. Each pocket should have its own respective capacity and it only interferes with another pocket when you overpack one.
I have a 2015 Northface Overhaul 40 with YKK zippers, and I've been happy with it until the past few months i had two instances that were the zippers failed. First they have become loose and unzipped on their own (i had both zippers at the top of the bag. I should have kept them at the bottom but im lazy), and it dumped my laptop out onto the concrete. Second, the zippers have started to come unclasped from eachouther. The issue is remedied by running the zipper up and down the channel a few times. But at the end of the day, I have encountered YKK zipper failure, albeit after 8+ years of daily use.
The best thing about this bag is the smaller zip pockets at the top. I find the bag a bit narrow especially when the bag is packed. The vertical zip, admin pocket in the front is not as versatile as it seems and doesn’t fit much. Also when using packing cubes, you really have to find ones that fit the bag. The sternum strap is not made for everybody even when adjusted. It does help but it’s not the most comfortable.
This bag in x-pac which was a “limited” collab with carryology called the phoenix 2 is almost perfect for travel/weekender. 28 or maybe even 30 liters would’ve been better imo given x-pac is more rigid that being said 26 can even be used daily if you carry a little more than average. Would have to disagree with you on the side access laptop compartment cause it’s fantastic for when the pack is on a roller luggage.

Overall just don't like their designs. They usually look a bit frumpy to me. This one at least has a layout that appears to be useful, although I'm not a fan of the side access laptop sleeve.
@@hikingmando What does frumpy even mean? looks are subjective, clothing can be inappropriate but backpack wearers aren't going to be looking smart anyway.
Great review. Too many reviews I feel are trying to sell the bag versus giving an objective stance. Seeing the scratches on the front of the bag after 2 weeks of use worries me. I think I'll stick with Xpac material if and when available. This bag is close but not my unicorn bag.
@@PackHacker2 It will need it to fit personal item sizers in airports (18x14x8) and have a luggage pass through. I got charged once for a 19" bag so not risking it again. I know that not packing it full and squishing is an option but don't want to compromise when spending $300. I wish this bag was 1" shorter. I would also want this CTB26 to be mirrored. I use a bag hook on my passenger seat when commuting to work so with this bag I cannot access the front admin pocket, though the front dump pocket would work. I love bag hooks as I don't have to worry about my backpack flying if I have to make a sudden stop or sharp turn. My dream is a 2 bag setup - a clamshell when carrying a laptop and a half zip when not. The closest I've seen is the CHZ22 but I'd want the front pockets of the Aer City Pack Pro, available in xpac, and with a luggage pass-through, and the CPP (18") with a side carrying handle or a vertical luggage pass-through. So close on both.
Given where they're made the price is simply too high, and I know on the first batch they had issues with things like the shoulder straps being super uncomfortable for a lot of folks. If that's been fixed in the most recent batch that's great but still shouldn't be over $200. At $300 I'll buy American or European.
Meh American is also overpriced, also doesn't mean they are perfect. For Evergoods you are paying a premium for the brand and design, not cheap Vietnamese labor lol.
I have American made bags from HPG and Goruck and also vietnamese produced bags from Mystery Ranch and Evergoods. There hasn't been any noticeable quality difference in the years since I've used all of them. The premium you pay is simply for the "Made in America" logo which is no better than people paying extra for Chinese made luxury brands. In short, overpriced and overrated.
When the title indicates "after two weeks of use," it implies that the content is based on actual experiences and observations over a two-week period in various scenarios. However, it has come to our attention that this channel frequently uses the title "(Two weeks of use)" even though the content is merely a feature review.

I really like it but isn't it very heavy for a bag of this size?

Would love to see the CTB 20 review
I can’t remember you mentioning the quick access pocket in the yoke? This is a great travel bag that works well as a bigger EDC too.
Yeah he missed it

Is this too big for edc?

Thanks for sharing, Mike. Laptop access when your pack is on roller luggage is a game changer! 😃
Does it look bulky when you wear it?
QQ- does the 26L fit under the airplane seat?
