Got mine the other day, love the minimalistic design… no excessive exterior straps or pockets. I like how the lap top pocket doesn't add or take away any actual space, since I don't own a lap top it will be a good place for the strap to live in. One thing I really liked was how the bottom of the bag has a crease so you can fold it flat to store it, 35L is the perfect size for a 3-4 day trip for me and I can see this getting way more use than my CTB35.
Good stuff as always JB. I ordered and received mine last week, curious to see how the sling attachment points hold up over time. I too like the laptop sleeve where it’s at. This might replace my GR Kit Bag as my weekend bag. Would like to see other company’s add the dirty laundry spot to their cubes. Keep up the good work.
This duffel looks awesome the only thing holding me back are the buckles, those WILL wear out over time and they don’t look to be replaceable. How are the female ends attach to the bag? Do you think the buckles could be changed if needed?
One cool thing about both the Evergoods packing cube and the GoRuck--if you want a flatter pack, you can leave it "open" with each side closed up. That way it is not as boxy.
Awesome video. Thanks for the detail reviews and comparison. It helps to guide me what kid of duffel bag i should go for next. As for the packing cube, it also helps me to decide Peak Design suits my packing style for than the TPC 8L. Thanks again JB. Stay awesome!
Whats the experience of carrying this + an EDC backpack? Does it get awkward trying to sling it over a shoulder that's already being occupied by a backpack strap?
That little side pocket would be a good place to put things like collar stays, tie stays, maybe extra watch band. How does the TPC8 fit if you opened and laid it on top of the medium PD cube?
What was the price on the 1733? It’s gorgeous. Great clip. My TD35 is arriving today, and I’m pretty stoked about it. For me, 35L is too big for a backpack for travel, esp since I’m probably going to want a smaller backpack or sling for day travel. Currently feeling pretty good about the Aer Day Sling 3 for EDC, CHZ26 when I need a laptop, and TD35 for one bag or weekend road trips.
Where the grab handles are sewn into the top of the duffle, because of how they're stitched, it seems like major stress points on the bag in those areas. Do you see any signs that it could be an issue over time or am I just not understanding how they're sewn together? Thanks!
Seems like a great duffel. Maybe a bit over engineered. (I don't need a laptop sleeve for example - would carry it always in a backpack right on me. The handle and the overall quality looks very good.) But since I need more space when traveling by car I think I'll go for the PD 65L. Nice video, though! 👌
Hey JB! :) Will the TPC8 fit the Goruck bullet 18L double compartment? I'm afraid it won't fit in it. Would appreciate your feedback since you own the bag :)
Great question. Probably the best way to answer that is to say I sold the black TD35 I had purchased and kept the Griffin edition in Tan. But I use more often the Waxed Canvas 2.0 Kit Bag.
Garmin EPIX. I moved back tot he EPIX this month because it does a way better job of monitoring my training load. I've been putting in a lot of miles training for next month.
Off topic. Love freely, but be careful spending too much money on the bamboo stuff. I've spent so much money on their stuff and it wears terribly over time. If you get ANYTHING on them, it's almost impossible to get the stain out. Way too pricey to be that sensitive to stains. Just my 2 cents.
Unpopular opinion, but I think they missed the mark a bit with this. That shoulder strap looks horrible. Also, am I the only one who doesnt need a laptop sleeve on my duffel? Why do they do this? The handles look so uncomfortable.
The handles are more comfortable than they look and the shoulder strap is thicker than it looks. Pretty impressed with it in hand. I was a bit skeptical as well.
The handles are actually pretty comfortable and they don’t flop around like most duffles that you have to snap or Velcro the handles together. The laptop sleeve has been great to put flatter things(folders, iPad). Love it so far. Great companion to an EDC for travel

Nice!!
So glad I came across this vid, the exact comparison I have been looking for! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

You bet! Thanks for watching. I think it will do fine although the buckle appears to be the weak point

Anything is possible but I’m not sure how that would work
Great review, for my needs the Dex checks all the boxes as it has more organization compared to the EG and is more compact.
Very cool. The DEX is really awesome.
Man, your videos are fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing 🙏👍
You bet Travis! 👊🏻
This is a design master stroke
I am a new fan of evergoods since I first got the PLC20. Just so well-thought out bags
I agree. They really have done an amazing job with the details.

Yep, I'd say that's definitely a PRO TIP! 👊🏻

You bet David!! Appreciate the support
Whats the experience of carrying this + an EDC backpack? Does it get awkward trying to sling it over a shoulder that's already being occupied by a backpack strap?
This one has more grip compared to the Kit Bag but in either case I find it’s easier if I sling the shoulder bag first and then go backpack.
Another great review of what appears to be a fantastic, well-designed bag. As usual from Evergoods. Thanks!
Thanks Luke! 👊🏼

Good point. Packs well, but they're not the same dimensions. I posted a picture of both side-by-side on Instagram and Facebook
with the evergoods packing cube, I kind of like the idea of keeping the main zipper unzipped while traveling.
I can see that. Depends on what it’s in.
Great job on the video! In regards to the 1733, isn't it hard to carry given its width, as it also got side pockets, and dangles against your legs?
You're right that it's a wider and flatter feel of a bag but it doesn't bother me
Hey JB have you use the TD35 in one of your flight trips and what was your experience with it?
I have and it worked great. I placed it in the overhead though
What was the price on the 1733? It’s gorgeous.

Good stuff. It’s pricey. The 1733 is $320
Loved the video as per most of the time. I just have one question I gotta know, how many duffels did you have last year???
Yeah, great question. Kit Bag, a few.
This would be awesome in a 18 x 14 x 8 size for under the seat personal item. To compete with Waterfield Designs Air Duffle.
True
Mash up!
I wish the TD35 was sized like the GR kit bag. Perfect accessory size bag.
That would be cool!

Those bar tacks there are sewn completely through the bag. Really solid. Don’t see that being a problem.
Does it feel super bulky with the foam? Looks super rigid and kinda awkward to carry on the shoulder.
This thing is over stuffed in the photos and videos. It does NOT feel awkward or super bulky in my opinion.

Makes sense. This one is more is a one-bag solution.
Hey JB! :)

I'm doing a big video tomorrow about sizes and what fits and this will be one of those I'm using.
@@JBOutside1 Hell yeah 👍🏼
Thanks 🙏🏼
We’re gonna need a bigger boat! Great outtakes!
Haha
Do you prefer this or the goruck kit bag?
Great question. Probably the best way to answer that is to say I sold the black TD35 I had purchased and kept the Griffin edition in Tan. But I use more often the Waxed Canvas 2.0 Kit Bag.
@@JBOutside1 I don't like structured duffels honestly. Seems like a waste of space
I love how duffel bags pack, but hate carrying them 😅
I can see that. A good strap goes a long way! This one is pretty good.
I love carrying them by hand. Not over shoulder. Have my kit bag in car right now as i watch this lol
Great video as always!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks!
What watch are you sporting today ?
Garmin EPIX. I moved back tot he EPIX this month because it does a way better job of monitoring my training load. I've been putting in a lot of miles training for next month.
Hey, ever got your hands on Recycled Firefighter bags and duffles?
I have. Had one for a bit and just never got around to a review. It's a great budget option IMHO.
Just wish they had incorporated a luggage pass thru somehow
I think it's a little big for that and I don't see how that would work personally.
Guess it’s bigger than it looks on the video
If you’re traveling with a duffle, you probably don’t also have a rolling bag.
Off topic. Love freely, but be careful spending too much money on the bamboo stuff. I've spent so much money on their stuff and it wears terribly over time. If you get ANYTHING on them, it's almost impossible to get the stain out. Way too pricey to be that sensitive to stains. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks Dane!
