    Great video, dude. First off, just want to thank you for pointing out that you were going to only highlight cool gear you can actually buy - especially since it's a holiday gear guide. Can't tell you how many videos I've seen where I like the item that's being showcased only to find out it's unavailable. Secondly, that GORUCK 18L dual compartment bullet is one of the sweetest bags they've made. Took all the best parts of a bullet and GR2 and our them together. My ONLY gripe is that the shoulder straps are wayyyy too skinny and they lost the beefiness that the original bullet straps had. It's more comfortable for me as a woman too if that makes sense. I have an OG two compartment bullet that I've been rocking for years. The thick padded straps are one of the best parts of their bags. Regardless, it's a badass bag that punches well above. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam Годину тому

      Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. Are the OG two compartment bullet straps the same width as the GR1 straps? I’d love to have those on the current iteration of the 18L DCBR! That’s a huge part of why I like the GR1 and GR2 so much, and the GR3 straps are next level. They carry so well because of those straps. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • @seawolf_727

      @ You're welcome! Big fan of the channel. FYI, my wife really enjoyed watching your GR3 loadout video with me. We both appreciated how thorough you were with your explanation and packing. I'd have to measure them and compare it to my GR1 BUT they are much thicker than the current iteration of the 18L. Like you said, it's one of the best aspects of the GR1 for sure. I've never seen a GR3 in person but I imagine the straps are awesome. Cheers!

    It is sooo weird - I have the same CAP1 in burnt orange, CAP2 in blue ecopak and CAP0.5 in black/coyote xpac (alongside burnt orange and OD green). I also love the CTB26 for travel, but it's a toss-up with the Dragonfly 36L for me (that's actually 26L too, 10L are split between the external mesh pockets). I also dig my DC 18L Bullet for EDC. But why does your Robic have aqua-guard zippers? Mine is the black Robic too, but has (sadly) regular zippers...

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam 8 годин тому

      Lol… we have good taste. I’ve been testing the 30L Ultra Dragonfly for about 3 weeks now, going to review it soon. What do you like about your 36L that makes it a toss-up vs the CTB26? The original ROBIC DCBR’s didn’t have the Aquaguard zippers, I got the updated version. Second version/release of that bag I guess.

    • @houserhythm
      @houserhythm 4 години тому

      @@Pack_roam I like that the Dragonfly is so light, no matter the material you get it in. I went for EPX600, cause it's less crinkly than ultra (have the 30L in ultra though). And I like that you get all the volume in the main compartment, with minimal (but just enough for me) organisation; sometimes I want to pack more clothes and/or camera gear - more often than not I travel with a 600mm lens, but then maybe I also wanna do some astro, or macro, take a tripod etc. Didn't know they updated the Bullet. And I'm surprised that Goruck would put aqua-guard zippers on regular lineup bag.

    Great review!! I'm looking for a new sling for travel and I think either one will work. I'm more of a minimalist, so the Tekko 4 would probably be the one. I really wanted the Packolab sling, but with the problems in the Ukraine where it's made, plus the long wait, even to order is making me think that I should think about another bag. Thanks again for the in depth review.

    I was the one who commented on one of your older videos that you looked more at the notes than the camera, so first of all let me say you've gotten much better with that. Secondly because you complained about the toothpaste tube being large - Matador makes great small refillable toothpaste tubes. I was so glad when Evergoods came out with the CAP 0.5, it has become both my tech pouch and my toiletry bag (I like being super minimal/lightweight). Used to pack the same Philips toothbrush, one of those Matador toothpaste tubes, small Gotoob with shower gel, crystal deodorant, disposable Bic razor, nail clippers and a pair of foam ear plugs. But I got more and more annoyed with taking out my liquids at security, so I switched to all solids - replaced toothpaste with tablets and Gotoob with a small round shampoo bar from Lush that I use as body wash (I'm bald). And that all fits comfortably in a CAP 0.5. For tech I have the same Anker 67W wall charger, 2 USB-C to C cables, a Nitecore NB10000 power bank, some no name 1000mAh power bank with Apple Watch cradle, that is actually slimmer/smaller than the original cable + puck, and an Apple Magic Mouse, which again all fits in another CAP 0.5. Also why not wear your boots on the flight and pack a smaller/more compact pair of shoes in the bag? Those boots are huge. Doing that and maybe using some compression packing cubes would allow you more choice and variation in bags, so it doesn't get boring...

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam 7 днів тому

      @@houserhythm Well thanks for the updated feedback! And thanks for the tip on the Matador tubes. I’ve got a CAP 0.5 and thought the same thing, that it would make a perfect dopp. Sounds like you’ve got a great super minimal setup, combining tech and toiletries. That’s a great idea, and I’ve definitely considered wearing my boots instead of packing them. I actually bought the boots in this video, the Brunt Marin, because they’re composite toe, so I could probably wear them through the metal detectors in the TSA pre-check lines and not have to take them off. The reality though, is that my boots get FILTHY in the factories I work in. The boots in the video are pretty new, but I work with some chemicals and materials that get on my boots and make it less than ideal to wear them in public. Grease, oil, asphalt, adhesives, fiberglass, etc. Some of these chemicals have a very unpleasant odor as well, which would probably make me very unpopular with fellow travelers. Thanks for watching, and all the tips!

    Awesome video. Especially like the way you are packing your boots. This configuration is so realistic and I feel is more along the lines of what I would need/want to bring. I probably opt for the classic bullet ruck to keep things even smaller. Do you feel the 45l feels huge on your back?

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam 15 днів тому

      Thanks! I’ve got a desert tiger stripe bullet that doesn’t carry well for work, but I’ll probably pick up a solid color classic or laptop bullet at some point just for that purpose. It would definitely lighten the load a bit and eat up less space. And yes, the 45L feels huge on my back when it’s all loaded out. It’s basically a suitcase with straps. It carries very well though, which is typical of GORUCK in my opinion. It can be a pain in crowds when traveling, but so is a roller bag and I love being hands free.

    I do one bag travel with the GR1 and GR2 separately, but prefer the GR1. OH and mine is the 21L. It forces me to think minimalist and only bring the essentials. I have Kuhl clothing so it doesn’t hold odor and can wear the same shirt and pants for multiple days.

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam 15 днів тому

      Wait your pants get a smell? The only reason I have another pair of pants is for spills or different style. And I'm not a non smelling person because I have to switch shirts every day. (Merino every 2 maybe 3 if I don't care xd)

    • @RobertGaron
      @RobertGaron 14 днів тому

      @@Pack_roam I have never had anything from KUHL that I didn’t like and I have many, many of their clothing items. It’s worth the price. As for the packing, yes and I even had room left over in my 21L. Many of those just in case items, I don’t bring with me because either I find I don’t need to use them or if I really needed them I could go to the store and get them wherever I go. If I’m traveling overseas, I use the GR2 26L.

    I purchased the 4L Tekko to compare to my Large Dendrite, and see which would remain my EDC sling bag, and I have chosen the Tekko. The Dendrite strap allowed for more "cinching" to have the bag feel tighter against my torso, vs the Tekko seems to get tight enough to have it carry in my lower back area. The Tekko is more comfortable to keep on my body while driving, because when it's slung to my fron in the car the bag seems to just rest on my lap over the seat belt. The Dendrite I would usually remove it from body while driving because if it was on my body whie driving, it would always slide towards my right armpit area, and impede the arm w/using the steering wheel. I found the Dendrite was deeper on the bottom panel, but it is shorter than the Tekko, and the height in the Tekko has some advantage. I can use strips of "hook" material to attach items to the higher points of the "loop" fields. This ability seems to make the Tekko feel less stuffed. My Tekko and Dendrite have been used for EDC & "micro get home bag" contents. I always like having items on me for some shelter/water/fire preparedness, but I keep wanting to upsize to a bag that can hold a metal container, poncho/tarp, good size fixed blade. If I do upsize to a bag, I would love to hear recommendations. I have an 11L Maxpedition Malaga that has filled a larger bag role, but I think it's too big to carry every day, and it definitely screams tactical. Thanks for sharing.
