It's important to remember that Tsuchiya's AE86 is actually REALLY fast on this course. It's faster than any GT-R or Porsche that has ever attempted to set a time, including modified ones. This particular MR-S is an absolute giant-killer on a tight course like this. Also, the AE86 platform, whole janky on paper, really does make pace. Jackie Ding is racing one in GLTC (which has a power-to-weight cap) and is 100% holding his own against race-built S2000s, Corvettes, Integras, E36s, etc in the front quarter of the pack. The 86 requires good setup and a LOT of skill to drive fast, but it can be a genuinely fast car. Just... not stock.

Cool
Why would any intelligent non fanboy think the AE86 would be faster?😂 There is a reason why supercars are mid engine.
Initial D hahahaha!
People forget about how much older the 86 is in architecture too, makes a big difference
