    I'm about 6' 3" and I don't have any issues regarding headroom. It's worth mentioning there is a control in the drivers seat which releases an air cushion in the base, which is usually inflated. Once released it improves the headroom. I've owned my E G80 since July, and apparently was the first customer in the UK. With so few Genesis cars on sale here, particularly the G80 (these days everyone buys SUV's), it often gets confused for a Bentley!

    I have been a loyal Lexus ES350 customer for a number of years. But when my current 36 month lease ends next February, I will be switching over to a 2024 g80 Electrified model (Uyuni White with the brown interior as you show in your review). While I have always loved the reliability of my Lexus models, with no issues ever to take care of, Lexus has done away with the center console control for the navigation screen, making it touch only - that is not something I want to have to deal with while driving. So I am actually excited about switching over!! Thank you for the driver's POV review - I know I will be making the right decision!

      @@emotionalol cellphone batteries are smaller in capacity, thus they go through cycles way faster. same cannot be said about an absolute bed of li-ion cells driving an automobile.

    • @theconformist2399
      @theconformist2399 2 роки тому +7

      @@emotionalol Kinda, but no. Batteries age depending on how many full cycles you go thru with the cells. Cell phone batteries are cycled 1-2 times a day going from 100-0% on average, which is why manufacturers rate them to drop to 80% health within two years. To do this with an EV would be to drive its full range every single day, using its full 100% charge. Unless you drive this much daily, battery degradation isn't a major concern.

      282 miles is 330-340 miles in real world driving. That's pretty good for a car that is built on an ICE platform. It spank the M-B EQE (non AMG) in range and performance. The only downside to this car is reduced headroom and trunk space. Hyundai solved this issue by building the 2024 Kona from the ground up as an EV and retrofitting the ICE powertrains around it. I hope the Genesis goes the route with the E-GMP platform for those who still wants ICE powertrains.

    Love Tesla, but it's a bit too minimalist and missing that luxury feel in the interior. This looks amazing inside and out. I'm really not a fan of having cars look like space craft, this may seem dated but it's a solid blend of cutting edge and contemporary styling.

    Hello again, I took delivery yesterday of my 2024 Genesis Electrified g80 with the Prestige Package, Uyuni White with the Havana Brown interior. The only disappointment: HUD is no longer a part of the Advanced or Prestige packages. I find that strange as even very inexpensive manufacturers offer HUD as an option or standard. Nevertheless, it will take a bit of time to learn not to look at the windshield, and focus instead on the amazing 3D digital screen. Also: the soft close doors are no longer on the 2024 EV g80. I drove home 3.5 hours from Charlotte to Wilmington in heavy rain and winds, and the car performed flawlessly. When I left the dealership, the battery was at 80% and when I arrived home, it was at 21% showing I could drive another 51 miles.

UK roads are really really bad, poor surfaces loads of pot holes. I haven't arranged a test drive yet to know how it fares on UK "roads". Are the roads you drove on typical or poor quality?

      With an EV you have the full torque of the motors available immediately. It's impressive and a more than a little surprising the first few weeks you own one. Great Review as always.
    Interesting observation. As you walk around the car, twice I observed the same thing.. at least to me & its very clearly noticeable the color difference especially on driver side. Front to back.. the color is more saturated til the rear door.. and immediately from rear door including to the back much lighter and grayer. I do work in automotive paint mixing field and am familiar with light changing the color at certain angles and in certain cars especially due to body lines. However, here there's no gradual transition. Just curious if anyone noticed this as well. By the way, almost the same thing present on the passenger side, but less noticeable it not being in the direct sunlight.

    Looking at this car, I kept thinking of the Chrysler 300. Nothing really stands out from the exterior. But Hyundai has never excelled at design. They borrow heavily from other automakers constantly. The fin on the redesigned Sonata? Lifted straight from the Lincoln. Even the inside seems uninspired for an $80,000 vehicle. No reclining backseats? No tech in the rear of the headrests of the front seats? Meh. Leaves me cold.

    • @trstnhn
      @trstnhn 2 роки тому +2

      I mean model 3 is a very dull and boring car. Most people only bought Teslas because of the hype and the "social status" thing when Musk was worshipped as the Tony Stark of real world and owning Tesla was a flex. Now, almost everyone dislikes Elon Musk and Tesla no longer provide that social status elevation, and people finally see Teslas as overpriced poor quality cars that won't be able to hold its marketshare as the rest of the Automobile OEMs enter the EV market.

    • @jcrbama
      @jcrbama 2 роки тому

      @@trstnhn I don't know, I haven't had any issues with it and surprisingly the build quality is good, tight panel gaps etc. I got one because I needed a commuter car and not having to go to the gas station every few days like before was nice. On top of it, it wasn't particularly expensive when compared to other cars in its class. Elon is still an interesting guy, I guess people are mad because of what he's doing with Twitter, but I guess those folks prefer to be lied to and controlled, rather than have to hear some things that they don't like.
      End of the day Teslas are still at the top of the EV world, but that's a pretty dull world right now. EV are just appliances, then again, most midsize sedans and SUVs are as well.

      Don't worry Steven, you can still go buy shitboxes for $20k from economy brands. Genesis might be a bit over your budget.

    Sorry......if I'm gonna' pay that HUUUUGE amount for an EV, it SURE AS HELL is gonna' have MUCH mileage-per-charge than just 282!

      If you could afford the G80 EV you wouldn’t be so concerned about your mileage per charge. You’d just drive it and enjoy the hell out of it. ;)

      @@greeneyedwarlock882 Wonderful, don’t buy it. IMO, it’s the best car I’ve ever driven and better than my previous e-Tron, Tesla MS, I-Pace and certainly better than the numerous ICE cars I’ve owned. Each to his own. Enjoy whatever you buy. BTW, in real world driving I typically get 320 miles or more with the G80. The Koreans, like the Germans and my BMW i4, are very conservative with their EPA estimates. It’s not difficult to get more than the stated EPA estimates. Such is not the case with Teslas, Fords, GM EVs etc.
