    I’m confused as to why reviewers are always wanting more exalt and engine noise, whereas for me quietness in a luxury performance sedan is the hallmark of excellent engineering.

      Exactly, the engine needs to have strong pulling power but still be whisper quiet. If people want loud, then the luxury segment is the wrong place to look for a car.

      They really don't. You don't believe me? Go drive them on the autobahn at high speed and you'll quickly realize it. It's easy to be fooled by them standing still or driving slowly. Once you hit some curvy parts of the autobahn at 150 mph and realize BMW/Mercedes/Audi are perfectly composed, stable and quiet at that speed, while the Genesis feel sketchy when driving far slower than that, you'll realize where the extra money goes.

    To the captain obvious rattle crew...It was clearly pointed out at the beginning of the video. It is unacceptable and a isolated incident that would be addressed by the dealer. The review is of the fundamentals of the car itself. All of the Merc/BMW fanboys with the "but it has a rattle" comments are actually a positive if that's all that can be nit-picked. This car swings way, way above it's price range. If you like to get the most bang for your buck, you'd be absolutely foolish to not give the entire Genesis line a very hard look for any of your next car purchase whether it be a SUV or a sedan. They make some wildly geared vehicles for the price range. They are the first to shake up the luxury industry like this in a long, long while maybe ever. Lexus/Infiniti is the next closest comparison from the 90s.

    Honest question: Why are us spec cars on average so powerful? The max speedlimit in the US is 85mph in most places it is lower. You could reach and maintain that comfortably with less than 200hp in a car of that size and weight class. and reduce fuel consumption significantly. I recently drove an Audi A6 40TDI quattro with a 204hp four cylinder diesel and set the cruise control to 180 km/h (111mph) throughout most of the journey. Even through the moutains it had no trouble keeping that speed. After 1200km (745 miles) I averaged 41,3 mpg

    • @alh06
      @alh06 2 роки тому +1

      A. no one driving a remotely powerful car goes the speed limit here. B. The U.S. is better at knowing its price value than other countries: we won’t pay big bucks for underpowered and not luxurious sedans. I can’t believe a guy actually said a german car is reliable. Remember the bi turbo v8 they had? Yeah you want to call that reliable? The only reliable engine they have is the B58 which is why Toyota used it and even made changes to make it more reliable. When you buy a bmw its just for performance and the name you aren’t buying for reliability… And no value? To me, the G80 will always be the REAL Genesis, due to its origins as the Hyundai Genesis before birthing the entire Genesis brand.
    Shame on that rattle - my 2009 Genesis does rattle similarly but only because she had her roof liner dismantled last year and reassembled thanks to a sunroof malfunction and replacement. For the record my car has over 300,000 miles. I’d be very happy to get a new G80 but I won’t give mine up! (A midgrade 4-cylinder model will be adequate for me.)

I did some rideshare duty with my car several years ago so there was more wear and tear than I would've liked - these days, now that I drive a lot less, my oil change interval is 3 months regardless of mileage (usually 3000-3500 miles) with synthetic.

    So the press car has a rattle and they want how much? 70K??? The test of whether this is a great,, well made car and a complete bargain will be what it looks like in 5 years. The Korean's have a habit of false-bling that looks great for a while then quickly reveals itself as a cheap fake. Sadly, who can wait that long - which is why a little rattle is just such an own-goal. It screams cheap.
