We would have loved to. And we’ve driven the executive version before. In this case, Lexus wanted us to have the F-Sport version (and the G90 doesn’t come in “drivers version”). So we gleaned from our prior experience and put together the two we had - luckily the premise of the piece (Genesis doing what Lexus did in the same market) was still possible. Thanks for watching.
Kia Hyundai has been recruiting a lot top talents from designers and engineers since early 2000s. People complaining about they still copy this brand and that needs to know the guy who pinned mercedes, audi, bmw or cadillac has been working for Hyundai and Kia for years now. Its a globalization where top talents are recruited where its needed.
Except globalism is dying😂 The world economy is shrinking due to demographics. Hyundai is going to have a tough time shirking their reputation. The auto market is also changing drastically, we will see how they adapt. One thing they are doing right is making cars more fun. That forces other auto makers to compete.
@@chrislim7976 They are one of just a few companies that are making some cars that are powerful, and have a traditional transmission. I don't care for any of them, really, but there's that.
When I can get 800K miles on a Genesis (I'm being hyperbolic), then I'll pick a Genesis over a Lexus. Until then, I'll continue to push my 1972 Plymouth Gold Duster (the Al Bundy version).
Reliability to resale value, to materials used, to craftmanship, the Lexus LS outclasses it. I own a LS500, and an E63. I sat in Audi S7's to Mercedes S class and have to say I picked the LS500 for a good reason.
Of course you're going to say that since you own that car. Genesis is a new brand we don't know how long they're going to last but I want more then just reliability out of my car especially when I'm dropping $90K plus for a car so definitely ain't getting lexus. And LS resale value is terrible, it's depreciates fast since demand is so low
@@i.d.6492 Lexus outclasses all other Asian automakers period except Chinese automakers. China is coming out with stuff that's very nice and I'm interested. The only people that maybe make something better is barely Mercedes and even BMW, I've seen their 7 series, it's a better drivers car, but not a better luxury car. The S class, only barely inches ahead too unless you go up the models like the S63. Try and sell Mercedes or bmw after 60k miles, or 100k kms, you'll be surprised at how much people do not want anything to do with your vehicle because of mercedes and bmw maintenance and reliability. People will pick up a 2nd hand Lexus like it's fresh water, they sell faster, they hold their value better and people are not afraid to take care of them. The Lexus LS has amazing craftsmanship, and it creaks (squeaking, rattling in the vehicle) less than the S class. I chose the LS for good reason, not just that "i own the car", I actually had to decide for myself when picking between these vehicles which is of better value for me and my 100k cash.
Don't doubt that you own those vehicles. However if you don't also own, or at least have driven the redesigned G90, your opinion is neutral at best. If you had one you'd choose it every time over the LS500 for every day driving. really, how often are you hard cornering in that big boat of a vehicle? Im Sure if Lexus went straight up luxury sedan (like the G90) they could squash genesis. However, so far they havnt. They are in this weird sporty...semi luxury spot in a huge ass car
@@craigheron2942 Craftsmanship wise, I still preferred the Lexus. The sweeping lines are more pronounced, the screen is more integrated, just the feel/look of the buttons were more premium, the suspension is plush and sporty when needed so corners are not an issue. The trunk space is larger, the engine is built by Lexus/Toyota, not Hyundai, so I trust it's reliability more, which goes with branding. I prefer the LS500 because it's everything you would need, without the European maintenance, while competing with them. I can only give the Genesis, the road presence... they look good, but I still pick the LS500. The LS500 is also, almost unmistakable once you've seen one, and while at that, you don't see them on every corner like the Genesis. I enjoy the rarity.
As much as I love the Genesis, I would go for the Lexus, mostly for long term reliability. Also, did Hyundai & Kia resolved their sudden burning 🔥 problems?

I own the ‘19 G90 5.0 and love it. This is a great video that really is fair to both brands. Can’t wait to buy the 2023 G90 in a few years when prices come down to my range. Genesis has really nailed their designs and they’re still in their infancy stage.
@limelife7457they are literally one of the leaders in sales, Lexus is down in sales. The only luxury automakers doing VERY WELL is them and BMW right now for obvious reasons.
Haa are u kidding? It's a HYUNDAI you pull up in a Genesis and someone else pulls up in a Lex, people are going to think all that's a tight Lexus and what is that a Hyundai?
Avoid Genesis is at all costs. I am trading my Genesis G 90 for Lexus today. Genesis are really good cars till they break down and then you realize that you can't even get it repaired since the parts are not available. Right now it has been 7 months on infotainment screen being not available. I got corporate emails every single week saying no ETA on the parts. I have had similar issues on other parts for past five years.

How is any warranty worth anything if they lie on the warranty contract in regards to their service and don't care about their customer base in Service Departments EVERYWHERE across the USA? If I was to buy I'd have to take it to ANY other mechanic than a Genesis dealership service department that is worthless. It makes no sense in buying a new car. Genesis is RUINING their dealerships & making BORKEN PROMISES to customers it sounds like to me on their warranties on their vehicles because their Dealership Service Department sound totally worthless. I'm second guessing buying a G90 for these main reasons.
The reason Lexus succeeded is because it is ultimately a Toyota. That means a nice, reliable car with a good dealership network and corporation that backs up the product and takes care of you should there be any issues. Genesis is ultimately a Hyundai, which means a terrible dealership network and a corporation that will do anything it can to blame your vehicle problems on you.
I agree. Why pick the F Sport and then complain about it? Pick the most luxurious one. For me, the Lexus looks the more unique. And that's saying something because it really is an old design now.
Agreed. I see people do these unfair comparisons. Agreed, they should have compared the luxury version of the LS with Genesis. The Lexus has better style inside and out. There is nothing wrong either with the driving experience with the F sport LS.
I bought an '11 LS460 last year. Great car. One thing I noticed was the lack of V8 engines in the new ones. I'm sure the V6 is powerful, but I would miss the V8 sound in this type of car. These cars are not worth leasing. If you want it, buy one, but don't buy it new. Way too expensive. Mine has the adjustable suspension, but I rarely take it out of normal. Paul and Todd are correct. These are cruisers. Sport mode goes completely against what the car was made to do - coddle everyone inside.
My parents are on their second LS and I kept begging them to upgrade until I drove their v8 and I said nah just stay where you are. That ship just floats along the road.
You shouldn't compare 2 different types of vehicles the lexus is an F sport, Of course its interior is basic and doesn't compare it doesn't have all the extras, compare it to any LS500 that has a luxury package that has all the rear seat luxury stuff, it comes with kirko glass trim pieces on the doors. I think thats how its spelled. There's also a special hand woven material on the doors as well,so beautiful.thats the comparison we need to see.
Genesis does the center screen correctly - small, integrated with climate controls seperate. They should have done the same with the audio controls though.
other than the fact that the same screen extends to behind the steering wheel and replaces the phsycal gauges. Looks stupid, overly simplistic, and cheap. And it is cheap, hence why manufacturers are turning everything into screens. Not to mention the climate controls themselves are a touchscreen rather than just using buttons.
The Koreans have simply kicked ass of all Japanese brands and they are now way ahead in technology. They are way close to the German rivals than ever. Kia, Hyundai and Genesis are on a level where Honda, Toyota, Lexus have to play catch-up. Acura is nowhere near to them either.
Boss of what? 4 door sedans like a Q50 or ES350? Maybe an A5 . G90 boss over Maybach? Rolls? it doesnt compare faborably to cars like the BMW 760i or even the Audi A7. So whose it boss of?
The Lexus will be the better car long term. We all know that. I honestly would not need all the bells and whistles of the Genesis. I would take the Lexus, and in F sport trim. I would for sure choose a more exciting paint color though.
That's because F Sport is the dumbest thing a Lexus buyer can do. Turns a comfortable luxury car into a less comfortable one that still isn't sporty in any way.

I'd like it if it was ti match the exterior and rims. But yeah this Lexus looks nasty with it. It just doesn't flow well. Ik F sport also has some gun metal Grey colors I think it would have kept the luxury feel while adding a level of sportiness of the interior was a mixture of black, gun metal grey, graphite, and deep wood colors.
Before purchasing a Genesis, check your service wait times. I purchased a 2019 G90. It takes a month to get service and now, I've had 2 dealerships decline the valet service because, "I didn't purchase it from them". That wasn't what was promised. I even called Genesis USA. The person on the phone knew of the problem but offered no help. Now, the G90 is over $100K. This is crazy. If you want to burn $100K why not get married ? If I'm to be lied to and treated this way, I might as well purchase a BMW. At least I'll have the badge snobbery we all know of.

Lexus ushered in a concept that premium should also mean long term reliability for all the parts of your car not just the drivetrain. It's to early to know if Genesis got that right. Lexus brought Toyota reliability to the lurxury auto market and if Genesis proves it has done the same, only then it can be said that "Genesis has out Lexus, Lexus."
Genesis reliability will not even be close to Lexus. Somehow I have never been able to equate any Korean car with "long-term reliability". I'd rather own a 100,000 mile Lexus than a new anything else.
@@tmyere. I own a LS500, the rear seats are ventilated, for AC cooled and heated, the seats come all the way up like a bench for your calves, and you can control the entertainment system from the rear center control. You can control the climate and rear shades as well. The doors and small windows have shades as well, and the glass roof shade opens from the back as well. The back seats are built for you to be in control while the front is just a driver.
As an owner of a first generation Genesis with hopes of one day owning a G90, I think they made a mistake crossing into a Six figure price point! Maybe a few years down the road with continued Positive Reliability Reviews will justify that price tag!
Seeing as the competition has been over 100k for a very long time, I don't see it as an issue. You can't keep the same price as 6 years ago when we've had record inflation and luxury cars cost into the 150 and 200 thousand dollars now. The Lucid Air can be several times the price with an interior that looks way cheaper than that of a G80.
2012 genesis sedan here. I would like a G90, but 100K still with crappy Hyundai dealership. Yes I know that with new genesis I don’t need to go to dealership (at least while under warranty)
Nah inflation is making it go up tbh, it's still a good bargain for everything you're getting and Genesis has the best warranty out of all of the cars it goes against so you're getting a better deal. Also if you ever get service done. Automatic loaner no questions asked. BMW and Mercedes have been 50/50 on it as of late but Genesis has the best care for thier cars by far with I'd say BMW being next because of the extended warranty program they have
I think the Genesis has it all over the Lexus in looks. If I was considering the two, I would definitely go with the Genesis. I know the S-Class is the king and the LS has been around since the late '80s, but I'd take the chance on the Genesis. I wouldn't expect it to be an S Class at its price. Just by the review I'm completely okay with what it is and what it isn't for 30 to $50,000 less.
That's easy for you to say when you're not in position to actually make that decision. There's a reason why people aren't buying the G90 more than the LS. Perception.
@@mob4ever I've owned the three-pointed stars and the four rings. I was also a service rep for both for several years before pulling an early retirement. I am in the position to own (not rent) either vehicle in this video as well as the S-Class. I know perception is a thing for lots of people. I removed the perception of what others think about what I drive long ago because it's irrelevant to me. I saw Benz' get repo'd right from service departments. So while others are stuck on the perception that someone driving these vehicles must be on the ball, all I think about is the quality after dealing with tens of thousands of them over nearly three decades as well as people who stretch themselves financially to exude a 'perception.' Perception is irrelevant to me but I most certainly get it. People will look at the G90 as a $100,000 Hyundai just like they looked at the Phaeton as a $100,000 Volkswagen - and even today at a lower price point with the Arteon. I think it's a great looking car but the perception is it's a $60,000 Volkswagen. Instead, people will go down the road to Audi and get a Volkswagen with four rings on the grill because of the perception.
@ronnymb67 My point is the odds of you spending 100k on a Genesis over a Lexus, B W or Audi are low. And even if you would you would be the exception and not the rule. I own a 2022 LS. I almost bought the 2022 BMW 750 but declined because I didn't trust it long term. The G90 is a great car. But majority of people who have that kind of money to spend won't use it on a Hyundai. The reputation of Toyota is respectable worldwide. So the perception of spending money on a Lexus makes more sense than a Genesis.
@@mob4ever Agreed. I am an exception because I would take the G90 even though the LS is a great car. Would most people? No. It's an unknown entity I'd be willing to try. Newer Benz', Audi, etc are known entities to me and I've experienced being left stranded multiple times within the warranties. And brilliant move on your part chosing the LS over the BMW. While not scientific, I base my decisions on my experiences, not perception. I'll focus on Mercedes but in my mind it applies to it's competitors as well. There was a time when they really were "engineered like no other car in the world" - notice they don't use that line anymore. Don't get me wrong. Most newer ones are great looking, fast, and loaded with boat loads of technology. They impress the neighbors. But I'm hard pressed to see many from let's say 2010 on the road let alone from the 2000s. They went from indestructible things like the 123 and 126 Chassis' to things that can't even make it off the showroom floor without major issues. As I type this, a friend who is also a fan of what Mercedes once was, sent me a link to an ad for a 79 Mercedes 300TD wagon with 788,000 miles. That was once the rule with Mercedes. Now it's a rarity. In my experience, Mercedes has been riding the coat tails of that perception for over two decades. In my personal experience of ownership and my professional experience, they and the others simply care about you making it through your lease period and/or 4/50 warranty with as few claims as possible. At 4 years and a day or 50,001 miles, good luck. 🥂 on the LS.
@@ronnymb67 totally agreed with you on perception.....it is younger peoples thinking. We older folks 50+ don't care what others think....we looked for quality and value now. Little of brand names is good, but not a must.
I dunno why I've always had a soft spot for the big luxury sedans, nearly everything else I go for is either tiny and sporty or compact-mid with a hatch; they just seem like the car I'd want to waft across the country in, and I would like to waft across the country someday. Also feels like they're reminiscent of a time where you worked hard and became successful to get rich enough to own one of these to drive yourself to work in, and nowadays the rich are so rich there's no use for a nice sedan when you can have 3 yachts, a private jet, and several Bugattis. This segment represents a simpler time of "attainable aspiration" that's disappeared over the last few decades. I applaud the Genesis for tackling it with style and verve, even if it's an anachronism. The Lexus is an excellent car but it's got too many stylistic ties to ES350s and even Camrys to justify what has become a more emotional purchase in this day and age. And that spec they have it in...neutral earth gray over gym bag red...that's just so cringe. Please don't buy an LS in that color scheme 😅
Do not buy a Genesis G80. I had a 2021 G80 bought used with 4k miles and sold it after 1 year since it was so bad. 1) Front Headliner was not secured to the roof. I could see the plastic clips if i pulled it down slightly. How did this get past quality control wtf? 2) Panoramic roof would flex and crack if i go over uneven surfaces, which never happened with any cars I've owned. Dealerships had 4 tries to fix but could not fix 3) Weak AC that is terribly inadequate for Texas weather. 4) Rides rough and not very comfortable even with non-run flats. Granted I had the 20 inch wheels but still. 5) Poor NVH in general even with acoustic laminated glass compared to other luxury cars I've owned. 6) Gas mileage for the V6 sits around 19 mph 60/40 highway city driving which is pretty mediocre. 7) Just does not drive as well overall as the Germans or Japanese. You can tell the Koreans brands just arent quite up to snuff when it comes to driving dynamics.
I drove the G80 and it felt to me a bit too much like an "executive car" (too slow / smooth for my taste). So the G90 was definitely out. The dealer then recommended that I drive the G70 Prestige. The moment the car left the dealership, I knew I had found my car. I enjoyed the test drive, but I had made my decision the second we pulled out of the lot. I've had my car for 6 months and absolutely love it. I've been alternating between BMW and Infiniti for the past 6 cars and this was a refreshing change. Kudos to Hyundai.
If I were shopping these cars (which I never will be) it wouldn't be for driving, it would be to be driven. In this class I want the best experience for the rear seat passengers. Nothing else matters.
They shouldn't have compared an f sport Lexus with no rear extras and it's focused on driving and simplicity. Genesis that has all the extras u can't compare have to go against regular ls500 luxury package in rear.
My family had a LS in the '90s and it was super nice and reliable; not a thing went wrong from the time it left the dealer to the time we sold it many years later.
We had a 1990 LS400 that was mostly reliable until 2003 when the cost to repair (it started overheating) exceeded the value of the car at the time. However, I did not know that the 1st gen LS would have some sort of a revival (thanks UA-cam and the million mile Lexus) and the value went up. I should have just fixed it back in 2003 and kept it ;)
You are right. It was a time when Lexus quality last but different today. Sad to say. I would only purchase one if it has a HEAVY dealer maintenance record.
19:06-19:32 The mistake being made here is that rather than thinking of it as either a pure sports car or a luxury sedan, the Lexus LS 500 is more of a Grand Touring Car, but one with a backseat sufficiently large and comfortable enough for you to get forty winks at a road stop(or some similar place)if absolutely necessary.
1 generation behind the LS. The systems on the 2024 G90 is slow and blind spot and accident mitigation are hit and miss on accuracy. Read the owners manual it even states in there that in some conditions it may not work. Those conditions are cars traveling faster or slower than your car. LS doesn’t have that glitch it seem less and perfect.
I LOVE Hyundai and the amount of high end cars they're putting out for the money, but as a Veloster N owner, I must say that Genesis will NEVER be a serious contender to established luxury brands until both Hyundai and Genesis get their dealership experience out of the gutter where they are. Sure u have a long warranty, but u need it as reliability is not their priority, and when u need a repair, long waits for parts or even a diagnosis are the norm, along with no loaners... Hyundai MUST invest all those profits in quality products with quality service experience if they want new and loyal customers, yet they seem clueless in this regard...
@@eiros59 The appeal is a great looking and driving vehicle with more standard features than competitors, but for much less. Yet the value proposition falls apart when u get German reliability without the German name and dealer experience...

Genesis might make great vehicles but their Hyundai-based dealership and service center networks are atrocious and potential LS buyers should steer clear - it’s totally unacceptable for a luxury brand. I’ve had a terrible experience trying to resolve issues with my 2022 G70 that wouldn’t have been a big deal if addressed promptly. To make matters worse Genesis Corporate is unprofessional, unresponsive, and generally unhelpful. They scapegoat quality issues and pretend that obvious mechanical defects aren’t defects at all, instead claiming the parts just broke-in finally and are functioning as designed. Sorry but there’s no way engineers designed the torsion-beam liftgate to open smoothly for the first 6 months and then suddenly “break-in” and start launching open with such force that it crashes into the end of its travel and ricochets 4+ times until the energy dissipates. And no, the reason that the impossible-to-reach foam insulation sealing the fender from the door frame came loose isn’t because “the front end of my G70 was rebuilt almost perfectly” after a made-up unreported accident in the 1 month and 700 miles that the original purchaser owned it prior to trading it in for a Mercedes - it’s because the adhesive failed just like the adhesive affixing the Nappa leather to the seat cushion foam (which they replaced and then the same thing happened within a month). My god. After 6 months I finally got them to replace the defective tinted chrome window trim but they repeatedly screwed up my appointments and dragged it out for months, and outsourced it to a Ford body shop that did a sloppy install without properly attaching the rubber door seal gaskets. I could go on but I’ll stop here.

One car is from a nation that makes majority of HBM chips (ones used for AI), another no longer produces 40 nano chips, let alone 3 nano. The tech gap is simply enormous, and yet Lexus trying to ride on its past laurel leaves bad taste. They should not try to sell abroad what they can't sell at home
Hands down the Toyota is going to last many many more miles. But with people looking for this price range of cars, I don't think they even care if the car last or not because they will just trade it in when a new model comes out.

At this point I am just waiting for him to review more brands, specially Lexus, that way I can give him a fare judgement and wether or not I can identify if he is biased or not.
@@mr2cqql I think that is the biased opinion. Remember that a lot of people condemns Genesis without fair arguments, just for it being Korean and part of the Hyundai Motor Group.
This is such a shame. Shame on you Toyota. A safety test scandal: Toyota was found to have submitted incorrect or manipulated test data when they applied for certification of the vehicles. Affected vehicles were three production models - the Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio and Yaris Cross - and discontinued versions of four popular models, including one sold under the Lexus luxury brand. In one example, it had measured collision damage on one side of a model's bonnet while it was required to do so on both sides. In other instances, it said it conducted certain tests through development testing that did not meet the government's requirements.
If I had $100k these are the cars I’d consider. The Lexus will have far better resale if thats important. My father-in-law’s G1 Hyundai Genesis is holding up well with 150k miles. If I picked the LS I’d buy the base AWD with interior upgrade package and Levinson stereo. Just over $90k, a good deal.
Lol stop talking about resale of luxury cars. Even with better resale ls is going to lose 50% in the first 3 years. Maybe genesis will lose 55% but at that point who cares both cars are being slashed in half.
So. Your comparing a Genesis halo model priced well over 100k...to a mid level Lexus LS 500 FSPORT?. Sarcasm alert. Seems fair..lol. Everybody put your hands together Genesis has been making luxury sedans for almost 3 years now. I'm absolutely sure 30 years later Lexus still makes better luxury cars more reliablely and cheaper than anybody on the planet. When Genesis does that let me know. Genesis currently isn't even trying to beat anybody on price. The world knows all to well how many awards Lexus has won globally when it comes to reliability and resale value consecutively I will add. Lexus hate is and always has been a odd quirk to me in the automotive world. Everyone else always gets a pass if it can beat Lexus in some form or another just once. Genesis is currently that shiny new toy. I'll admit my bias. I've owned 4 Lexus vehicles. So what I've been happy with all of them, and the dealerships treated me extremely well.
We fully acknowledged Lexus superior reliability many times, including in this review. And while we wanted similarly trimmed cars for this review, and as mentioned have driven other versions of the LS, the desired spec wasn’t available for this shoot. Also stated here - Lexus builds a”driver’s model” and Genesis does not. Lots of positives said about the Lexus here and in our work elsewhere. Glad you like them. Thanks for watching.

I have been saying this for a while now. Lexus ain’t what it used to be when it comes to exterior and interior styling, performance, techs. Is Lexus reliable than a Genesis? Yes it is but will I buy a Lexus just based of reliability hell no. Comparing Models to models the Genesis is winning. G90 vs Ls500-G90 wins Gv80 to RX350-GV80 wins GV70 vs NX350-gv70 wins G70 vs is350 -g70 wins G80 vs es350???? No comparison Genesis Delearship sucks and Lexus win in that spot. Lexus also sells more cars in the USA when compared to Genesis. I see in the near future Genesis closing the gap in sales and that could take 6-10 yrs Since their sales are getting higher even though their cars are pricier than comparable Lexus models. Genesis is the biggest threat to the Lexus brand right now. .
Be honest. Lexus does has his own design and own interior and everything belongs to Lexus which Genesis doesn't. It's gorgeous but outside 100 sure Lexus better looking Interior, Genesis copying everything from Mercedes even audio style and dashboard lines everything. In overall in my point Lexus is 8/10 Genesis 7/10
Genesis is made by Hyundai. Just knowing that, to me it seems highly unlikely that Hyundai "out lexus-ed Lexus". Those who believe otherwise, best of luck to you. It costs less for a reason.
I am not sure why we compare a F Sport to a G90? Why not the premium LS vs G90?
Evidently, they don't know what they are doing
We would have loved to. And we’ve driven the executive version before. In this case, Lexus wanted us to have the F-Sport version (and the G90 doesn’t come in “drivers version”). So we gleaned from our prior experience and put together the two we had - luckily the premise of the piece (Genesis doing what Lexus did in the same market) was still possible. Thanks for watching.
Same thing I said and their reply still doesn’t suffice… just wait until its possible to do a similarly priced comparison @EverydayDriver
I agree its like comparing a Camaro to a mustang why not use the corvette thats the chevy sports car and they are the same price .
Exactly why a F-Sport against full luxury for performance test. That's why I rarely watch these videos anymore.
I saw a G90 a few weeks ago. Man that thing stops time. The presence on the road is crazy. It's like "Sh*t! The boss is here!"
Exactly....you dont get that with LS500 unfortunately.
Their SUVs especially have that factor lol 😂
Yeah....couldn't agree more.
When I see it,I know my boss arrived early that day.
It's a Hyundai. No real "boss" is driving it.
Bullshit. Im korean, but unfortunately our design so bad and cheap

Except globalism is dying😂
The world economy is shrinking due to demographics. Hyundai is going to have a tough time shirking their reputation. The auto market is also changing drastically, we will see how they adapt. One thing they are doing right is making cars more fun. That forces other auto makers to compete.

When I can get 800K miles on a Genesis (I'm being hyperbolic), then I'll pick a Genesis over a Lexus. Until then, I'll continue to push my 1972 Plymouth Gold Duster (the Al Bundy version).
Give me an LS400... or a Toyota Century for the proper Yakuza look.

This review should have had the non F sport Lexus with all the luxurious amenities.
That would have been a better comparison.
I agree. Why pick the F Sport and then complain about it? Pick the most luxurious one.
For me, the Lexus looks the more unique. And that's saying something because it really is an old design now.
Agreed, and I prefer F sport anyways, not as good of interior but more fun to drive and has the better badge than the Genesis
I'm thinking the same thing. A fair comparison would have been both vehicles with similar packaging, bells, whistles, etcetera.
Agreed. I see people do these unfair comparisons. Agreed, they should have compared the luxury version of the LS with Genesis. The Lexus has better style inside and out. There is nothing wrong either with the driving experience with the F sport LS.
Agreed. Weird review.
But Genesis is South Korea! yuck! Lexus is made in Japan! Japan makes the finest and longest lasting cars in the world!!
That’s where Lexus messed up. Like how can the IS and LC get the V8 but not the LS. It’s just a rear wheel drive ES

Genesis G90 visually stunning and really stepped their game up. Sheesh wish I had one.
My only gripe with Lexus no matter which model is the cheap leather they use that age and tear too early and easily.
my 2012 ls has no tears just slight discoloration on the drivers seat. gotta take care of your stuff man
Genesis does the center screen correctly - small, integrated with climate controls seperate. They should have done the same with the audio controls though.
I guess they figured most would use the steering wheels buttons as many would be riding in the back anyway.
I typically use my steering wheel to use my audio controls tbh occasionally my screen in my car but not as often as my wheel.
Everything in the big stupid screen is the worst trend in modern cars. AC control should be separate, with physical buttons.
other than the fact that the same screen extends to behind the steering wheel and replaces the phsycal gauges. Looks stupid, overly simplistic, and cheap. And it is cheap, hence why manufacturers are turning everything into screens. Not to mention the climate controls themselves are a touchscreen rather than just using buttons.
I like g90
I'll take a Genesis over almost all European cars.
Yes they are way ahead in terms of engine and transmission issues. On top Hyundai and Kia dealerships don’t care about customers at all.
That Genesis G90 is BOSS!

To me that red interior just ruins the Lexus
That's because F Sport is the dumbest thing a Lexus buyer can do. Turns a comfortable luxury car into a less comfortable one that still isn't sporty in any way.

I wish they compared the Hybrid LS to the Genesis. The f sport LS makes no sense to me
Lexus ushered in a concept that premium should also mean long term reliability for all the parts of your car not just the drivetrain.
I would liked to have seen the executive version of the LS 500 vs the Genesis 90. That might have been a more similar comparison.
I didn't see any rear seat executive options on Lexus website. But I do know that older LS have 4 seater

Nah inflation is making it go up tbh, it's still a good bargain for everything you're getting and Genesis has the best warranty out of all of the cars it goes against so you're getting a better deal. Also if you ever get service done. Automatic loaner no questions asked. BMW and Mercedes have been 50/50 on it as of late but Genesis has the best care for thier cars by far with I'd say BMW being next because of the extended warranty program they have
in my country its a 30k+ difference in price. So its worth it

Sat in a Genesis at the NY auto show the first year they launched the brand (instead of being a Hyundai model) and loved it. Always wanted one
No no no. Can't believe you would even compare these two.
I get it. I had a 1998 Buick LeSabre and I could just relax after work, sitting in the pillows of seats. Still miss that car

1) Front Headliner was not secured to the roof. I could see the plastic clips if i pulled it down slightly. How did this get past quality control wtf?
2) Panoramic roof would flex and crack if i go over uneven surfaces, which never happened with any cars I've owned. Dealerships had 4 tries to fix but could not fix
3) Weak AC that is terribly inadequate for Texas weather.
Imagine saying the LS and the Camry has “too many stylistic ties” 🤡 🤡 🤡
Génesis G90 it's like a Limousin were Lexus is like uber ride😂😂😂
Should it be "where"?
G90 looks more upscale.
Kudos to Hyundai.
i just saw genesis chating fire on parking lot few week ago . No hyundai for me.

Lexus design and reliability is better . Genesis don't have that track record of good reliable. and also the design so boring and feel lazy
G90 beats Benz. For real.
The G90 is absolutely beautiful. When I decide to replace my Equus a G90 will have a place in my garage.
Why did you not grab the Luxury package LS500 with the executive option to make it a fair apple-to-apple comparison?
We’ve driven it before, but that model was not available in the press fleet when we filmed this. Thanks for watching!

Guessed so. Keep the good content coming!

How many yrs did you own it?
OK.....And????
We had a 1990 LS400 that was mostly reliable until 2003 when the cost to repair (it started overheating) exceeded the value of the car at the time. However, I did not know that the 1st gen LS would have some sort of a revival (thanks UA-cam and the million mile Lexus) and the value went up. I should have just fixed it back in 2003 and kept it ;)
You are right. It was a time when Lexus quality last but different today. Sad to say. I would only purchase one if it has a HEAVY dealer maintenance record.

The f sport is cheaper and shouldn't be compared to the g90.

The mistake being made here is that rather than thinking of it as either a pure sports car or a luxury sedan, the Lexus LS 500 is more of a Grand Touring Car, but one with a backseat sufficiently large and comfortable enough for you to get forty winks at a road stop(or some similar place)if absolutely necessary.
LS is like two generations older in terms of technology and integration. You don't buy executive saloon for driving excitement.
Resale is also awful. I don’t get the appeal unless you have a 400 credit score and need a 7 year loan.
@@eiros59 The appeal is a great looking and driving vehicle with more standard features than competitors, but for much less. Yet the value proposition falls apart when u get German reliability without the German name and dealer experience...
Exactly, such a beautiful car & I want a G90 so bad, but ALL Genesis Service Department reviews on all of Yelp is nothing but complaints & horrible reviews regarding wait times, cars sitting waiting for parts & repairs, the lack of care, no call backs to customers, no loaners EVER available (like their warranty contract states) & so many other complaints in at ALL Genesis Dealership Service Departments across the USA, the list goes on & on. Genesis Dealership's Service Departments sound totally worthless & this makes the warranty basically VOID & worthless to me & makes me totally reluctant on purchasing one.
Apples to apples comparison would make sense.. both nice cars... Lexus quality still yet to be beat ..
This is what we want. When makers compete, the customers gain.
Fast Forward to the G90! Amazing! Absolutely Love it!
I will Pick LS with out thinking.
No one pays attention to stories like this enough. Getting more for your money just means corners are cut to make things cheaper. Initial quality is all anyone sees. The constant and ridiculous quality control issues from Kia/Hyundai products is completely ignored for reasons I cannot wrap my head around.
@@kenm724 JD Power & Associates data show that Genesis is towards the top in terms of reliability with low numbers of issues reported. Granted there have been some big issues impacting Hyundai/Kia like easy theft and some engine failures, and durability seems to be a weak point with at least some of the materials choices. Their terrible US-market strategy for dealerships & servicing are what make the issues so infuriating. It’s like they have or assert no control over the quality of service, operational excellence & employees at their Genesis-approved dealerships. Also I don’t think ppl know that the 10yr 100k mile powertrain warranty is nontransferable, nor is the 3 year free maintenance and concierge service regardless of how long the 1st owner kept the car (in my case 1 month and 700 miles).

@@GOdelta2 wow what great information. I wonder if the warranties is transferable thru other dealerships on say a used 2022 Genesis G90? Many other NON Genesis dealerships have used G90s for sale. @@WrestlingErnestHemingway in your hypothetical scenario Toyota or any other dealership has no control over the transferability of Genesis warranties and probably have no duty to determine or disclose what manufacturer warranties apply to the new owner. The warranty booklet in the vehicle, which is also probably available online, shows the applicable mileage/duration of each specific warranty & ownership benefit - i.e., nontransferable 3yrs free maintenance, transferable 5yr/60k New Vehicle Warranty, Concierge Service nontransferable for maintenance but transferable for warranty repairs (although not honored in my experience). I read somewhere that the 10yr/100k powertrain warranty can be transferred to the 2nd owner under very specific conditions like if the 2nd owner bought the car CPO from Genesis with
As a previous owner of a Genesis and now a Lexus I can tell you right now the Lexus is much more reliable, refined, and better built.

Bought my Hyundai Elantra new in 2005. Still going strong at 364,700+ miles. The company has come a long way from those early years. They've been fighting that early image for awhile. Anyway, I find it funny how history repeats itself in that up until the late 70s, people had the same negative view of Honda and Toyota, during the heydays of American automobile dominance. Just my two cents worth.
@@morinkhuur4945 Glad you got a good one. From all my conversations with friends and coworkers, Kia and Hyundai just haven't been up to par with Toyota/ Lexus quality, reliability and longevity
@@igglybiggly6951 thanks. I agree with you in that I would say the quality of Toyota and Honda is still much greater than Hyundai. However, the gap is closing between them. Have a good day and make the most of it. :-)
To my eyes, the Genesis doesn't hold a candle to the LS. Both front and rear don't jive as a design. The LS is moving without being in gear and looks amazing from so many more angles.
I would go for japanese any day: 24 carat reliability! The red leather is atrocious, though!! I'm not buying a Ferrari, thank you very much. White, please!
However, no getting around the fact that the Genesis is much better looking, inside and out.
The design of Genesis G90 makes me remember the Datson 1979 or Mitsubishi Galant 1982, same thing with Cadillac CT5.
This is no brainer to me. One car is living this moment, another car looks as if from Japan's heydays of 1980s. Japan even stopped production of sedans for domestic because in Japan nobody would buy sedans (old man's car).

The G90 looks like one of those fake cars you see in GTAV with its fake bentley badge and grill and hotwheels luxury sedan styling.
You won't notice the difference in reliability below 150k miles between Lexus and Genesis.
These full size luxury vehicles don’t hold their value anymore. The ls500 ain’t an ls460 or ls430. Check the price of a used LS500 and come back .
They messed up letting the GS go if anything they would have made the ls look like the GS but it looks like the ES
I have been saying this for a while now. Lexus ain’t what it used to be when it comes to exterior and interior styling, performance, techs. Is Lexus reliable than a Genesis? Yes it is but will I buy a Lexus just based of reliability hell no.
