This song was a hit for Hank Williams Jr. It's about his life.
If you ever have time, check out the movie living proof. It's the life story of Hank Williams Jr. It'll make you wonder how he's still alive.
Hank Jr. wrote and released the Original version but I believe it’s about Hank Sr. Life. The Blues man already gone. George and Dolly rewrote it for their version
@@danieldeanmasterfinisher4715 "My name's a reminder..." It's about Jr.
You really have to do Hank Williams jr. Version of this. He wrote this and recorded as a tribute to his dad Hank Williams. You can feel the respect for his dad in every note.
@@trudy5963 my names a reminder of a blues man that's already gone. It's about Hank Sr's legacy being forced on Jr by his momma
This was great! “Who’s gonna fill their shoes” will always be my favorite George Jones song. I used to sing it with my Grandpa.
The right left hand.
Yes, truly great song and possibly my favorite possum song as well
Love Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes!! George was my grandpa’s favorite! I think of him every time I hear George! Good times, good memories. I was actually lucky enough to see him in concert 3 times before he passed.
Yes they should do whos gonna feel their shoes!!!!
I love these two guys.Reaction. George Jones and Dolly Parton. Great. Song and Legends.
Hank Williams jr. was the original. The line about “my names a reminder of a blues man that’s already gone” is a reference to his father.
George wrote it
@@thomasedmondson3585 No, Jr. wrote it.
@@JeffJones-ke7cr Funny to me how people make statements that have NO basis in truth! This is Hank Jr. to the bone!
@@thomasedmondson3585 Clearly, you didnt watch the video, refer to the comments by George, these were songs he "passed" on! Reading is Fundamental!
Thomas Edmondson No, it’s an original of Hank Jr’s
Islands in the Stream is a fun duet with Dolly n Kenny Rodgers. Who remembers the words to.....The Gambler?
I would love it if they did The Gambler or Coward of the county.
Good video as always.Dolly has done a lot for her home town. She opened Dollywood and provided jobs to the people of that area. She also has a charity that gives free books to children of all backgrounds. Just a real stand up lady.
O H I O !!
@@northernredneck1593 Yes Sir go Bucks!
Just got back from spending Thanksgiving in Pigeon Forge! Dollywood is the best! O-H!!
you're right! BUCKEYES YAY!!!🏈
Review April Wine .I like to rock .I know you guys will like it .
One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Dolly "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap"
That one is one of my faves too and when she said "I don't own more wigs or makeup than any other lady I just we're all mine at the same time" 😂
Love dolly
Three wooden crosses- Randy Travis
Seven spanish angels by ray charles and willie nelson
That is an amazing song
Seven Spanish Angels-- Willie Nelson & Ray Charles
Awesome song

GENIUS REQUEST
Dolly is wonderful. Funny, down to earth. She does a lot of charity stuff too, including sending books to kids in Tennessee who can't afford them. Love, love, love her.
She sends books in all our states and different countrys
@@monicabradley932 I'm not surprised. She's a class act. :-)
Hank Williams jr was the original writer and singer of this song. U TV was originally released in 1980. Then Alan jackson in 1999. Then George Jones in 2005. Long live the Possum
Absolutely love Alan Jacksons version!!!
The version of Hank Williams Jr and Alan Jackson together live is Soo much better!
Alan Jackson sounded best imo. But hank wrote it from the heart about his life. References to his dad hank sr and how his music changed from his dads style with the whole new note finder line etc.
Guys I love George Jones and dolly but they did not do this song justice. Even if you don’t do it on here listen to both other versions.
Yes n i love all the versions each 1 puts there own into it
Every Light in the House is On by Trace Adkins. Definitely need to check it out!
Written by and an autobiographical take on Hank Williams Jr.’s life. Check out the Hank Jr. version. The line “My names a reminder...” is referring to Hank Williams Sr.
This song was originally written and performed by Hank Williams Jr.
I'm glad you guys did this song, but it should have been the original version by Hank Williams Jr. It was written by him about his life and the life of his father Hank Williams Sr. This version is good, but it's better coming from the person who wrote it about his own experiences.
You put Sr twice
*Jr.
@@umino_kao Thanks for pointing that out guys. I'll fix it
Both are great, but the original is best.
Jeremy Lilly definitely should've been hank
The smiles hit your faces as soon as Dolly started singing...really lit y'all up!!! She lights me up too, who doesn't when you hear her amazing and unique voice! ❤
Tracy Lawrence-Paint Me A Birmingham
Marty Robbins-Big Iron
My daughter had to do a report on a person she thought of as an inspirational hero. She chose to do report on Dolly Parton. I was 25% hurt she didn't pick me, but 75% proud she picked my girl Dolly.
what if she chose cher? or madonna?
@@gristams3439 I would have made her go pick a stick out of the yard and beat her with a switch and maybe washed her mouth put with soap. 😂 She was in 2nd grade and I dont think she knew who the others chicks were at the time. What's your point?
no point i just srsly wondered if a parent would think those 2 were good role models for a girl. lol idk kinda silly i guess.
its also b/c i was talking with a ex g.f. once about how theres not too many role models for girls and those 3 were brought up.
@@gristams3439 I think as a female musician those 2 are great role models because they are females over 20 something, different & orginal from the norm and comfortable in their own skin. I do not know as much about them in their personal life like I follow Dolly.
David Lee Murphy - "Dust On The Bottle"
I saw Hank Jr perform this song live several years ago. It was amazing 😍
Keith Whitley Don’t Close Your Eyes
I don't know if you know or not but they reacted to that song recently
An awesome song of George Jones is "Choices"...whether they let you post it or not you should definitely check that song out.
Love that song!

Hank Williams jr original is awesome, u gotta check it out
mtgdoss73 the original is my favorite Hank Jr song.
Hank Jr wrote this song but I love both versions
Tony J Tuzzo should done the hank version....... by far the definitive version.
Bob The Boss Saget yeah I totally agree. The song says my name reminds me of a blues man that’s passed away....so how could anybody do this song other than Hank Jr
alan jackson covered it too
Todd Osterhout I was thinking the same thing. I like Alan Jackson’s version OK, but you have to know that this was a Hank Jr. song to start with or it doesn’t make sense.
I love George and Dolly but this version doesn't do justice to Hank jr's version bc it's more fit to his actual story about his dad and wife.
Really need to listen to Hank Williams Jr version.
I think Alan Jackson did this song the best
Y’all should check out Vince Gill. Country legend, icon, and very distinct voice
When I call your name
Whenever you come around
I still believe in you
Go rest high on that mountain
Hank Williams Jr. and Alan Jackson have both recorded this song but I think Hank Jr. Did it first.
I love AJ's remake of Hank Jr.'s song.
Hank Jr. Did it best because he wrote it about his own life
Jr. for sure did it best.
Hank Jr. And THE Alan Jackson both did that song, and I know music is subjective, but I like Alan's version best.
@@jeremylilly1054 yes
George died in 2013, he was 82. Dolly is still alive and going strong at 72.
The original is by Hank Williams jr and he wrote it about himself
I grew up listening to all these country greats . I love George Jones an Dolly singing this Beautiful Classic .. Beautiful!! Thanks for Sharing!!
THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF BLUES MAN WAS DONE BY HANK WILLIAMS JR. IT WAS A STORY SONG HE HAD WRITTEN ABOUT FOLLOWING A LONG IN HIS FATHER'S SHADOW
Clay Hathcock right!
We need a ZZ Top reaction on this channel. Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers.
This song was originally written for Hank Williams Jr.. The line my names a reminder of a Blues man that's already gone is about his father Hank Sr. Both Hank and George had issues with drugs and alcohol. Both finally found a good woman. I have this album. When Jones put it out it was his last hurrah. He was already disappointed in the way country music was headed. I recommend Alan Jackon and George Strait Murder on Music Row. This is how many country music fans feel.
Dolly Partin and George Jones did several songs together. As did Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty. You should listen to some of theirs. ETA: Like "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man"
Isn't that song in San Andreas? (don't know if you've played that, it's a videogame)
Don't know. I don't play video games.
JAMEY JOHNSON- HIGH COST OF LIVING!!!!! PLEASE KIND SIRS

Copperhead Road!!!!
@@utcnc7mm seriously! I keep seeing the requests for this song and i even requested it myself because of seeing it so much.
Lol again I prefer Travis Tritt's live version
Guys check out George Jones Tennessee whiskey. He did it way back in the day. Nice to see a comparison to Stapleton’s version. Enjoy
LUV YOU GUYS!! SO ANIMATED AND FUNNY!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
I have had the pleasure of meeting DFolly in high school. Since then I have ran into her several times. My mom was with me once and so Dolly took us on her bus and sang Coat of Many colors to my mom. Very nice lady!!
Shout out for Randy Travis. Forever and ever or Deeper than the Holler. Or if you're feeling covers, Randy and Josh Turner have a great version of King of the Road they did live.
Hank Williams Jr. Got the song.
"My names a reminder of a bluesman that's already gone" referring to ol' Hank
You guys are spot on about Dolly for years my Aunt actually designed and hand sewed many of her costumes/Dresses. I met her and she is one of the most down to earth filled with personality and genuine kindness People ever
I love the fact that you guys do different genres !!! You guys have turned me on too so much . Keep it going !!!
I know you already did George Strait Cheyenne but can you do one of his newer songs, Troubadour or Let It Go. Or maybe a Randy Travis song, On the Other Hand or Three Wooden Crosses.
Deeper than the holler
My problem with three wooden crosses, is what the hell happened to the bus driver? does no one care?
@@tfresh417 They most likely survived along with the truck driver. It's unclear if it was the bus driver or the truck driver that missed the stop sign, so it's up for debate which one was held accountable for the accident. From the sounds of it, the bus was most likely T-boned so that would account for the bus driver's survival. Unless of course there are two more crosses on the left side of the highway that we aren't told about. Mostly the narrative focuses on the people the woman was seated with, which is a natural response given the nature of car accidents. While the drivers and by-standards are rushing around trying to assess the situation, those you were seated closest to would be the ones you check on first. Thus we have our song, it would be different if she was also running around checking on the drivers.
I love Troubadour...
I don't know if anyone has said this. But where's the damn Blackberry smoke requests?
Requested them but no joy so far. Would love a reaction to Restless or Aint much left of me
@@tomjames8761 damn.. any song really from them. I can't honestly choose a request lol..
I've requested them too...
Oh, I've suggested a few of Blackberry Smoke for a number of weeks, but I got tired of suggesting.
I'd probably just suggest their more popular ones: One Horse Town, Ain't Much Left of Me, or Pretty Little Lie.
BTW, love you guys and your so intelligent reviews. Please dont stop!
My father was a big time fan of George Jones. He owned his own paint and body shop. Growing up, we grew up listening to all of the “Legends” of country music. He blasted his radio and would sing along with the song. I think you guys would enjoy one of my father’s favorite George Jones songs, “The Corvette song.” I also love it. Also, another George, George Strait. My father passed away back in 2016. One of things we used to do was sit around and sing while he sang & played his acoustic guitar. About 2 evenings before he passed, I went into his room. I sat in the chair I had been sleeping in for the past several days. He couldn’t speak by then. I started talking to him and eventually started singing “The Chair” by George Strait to him . My entire family ended up in his room. That was a beautiful night. But, I also think you guys would like that song also. First reaction I saw by you guys was Chris Stapleton “Tennessee Whiskey.” I laughed & watched it over & over.
I wish you guys would react to George Jones “Choices” One of his greatest songs he ever recorded!
You guys NEED some of The Judds in your life. She Is His Only Need or almost anything by Wynonna Judd, she is a power house!
George was nicknamed “no show Jones” back when he was in the drugs and booze in the 70s. In fact he no showed our small town county fair. But still a legend.
this is ol George! watched his memorial when I was doing time..Dolly is amazing!! always did love them big bunnies too😎
Hank Jr killed this song listen to it
Hank williams jr version is the one you should listen to. Beautiful song.
Hes talking about Hank sr
George was way old in this version
George was 74 when this was released and dolly was 59. I love this song, I just found it and have it on repeat the last day. Love dolly lol
Another good vid guys. Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross or Clean My Wounds
Everything that glitters by Dan Seals would be great for yall

Dolly is from my hometown. I’ve met her a handful of times because she comes home a lot. I can assure y’all she’s just as cool when the cameras aren’t on. Love her.
George Jones - The Grand Tour... my favorite George story that always tugs at my heartstrings
Alan Jackson version is great also y'all should do midnight in Montgomery Alan Jackson
Yal have to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Island In The Stream. It's a great song
I got into you guys because of the metal but I think I get more joy out of watching you discover this classic country music. Keep it guys!
When Dolly came in....tears of joy. Sooo good!
Here are some more suggestions: Pat Green “Carry On,” Stoney LaRue “Down in Flames,” and Kevin Fowler “Hard Man To Love.”
Also, Cross Canadian Ragweed “Constantly”
Steve Earle “Copperhead Road”
Thanks for your presentation of a wide variety of music!
Hank Jr. has the best version of this song
Alan Jackson was better imo
One of my favorites you guys... Great reaction!

George jones was one my favorite singers. Love The song choices I made love for you all to hear
In my opinion Alan Jackson- bluesman is way better. Alan and George were really good friends. He sang at George's funeral couple years back
M1911Mike they were good friends, but it’s a Hank Jr. song. When Alan released it and sang it at an award show Hank Jr. came out and sang it with him. That was like 20 years ago and I still vividly remember that. I love this song coming from all 3 of them.
Couldnt agree more!
@@SouthernScarlettASMR if we are to follow the theme of this album I'd be willing to bet he wrote/ had first dibs on this song but gave it up
M1911Mike Some of the song fits, but it’s because there are similarities with Hank Jr. Hence the line...My names a reminder of a Blues Man that’s already gone...his daddy Hank Williams. It’s totally his song and Alan Jackson sang it in tribute as George Jones sang it for his wife Nancy “saving him”
Alan’s version is only second to Hank’s original
Should do hard candy Christmas by Dolly
Dolly Parton is Ms. Personality! She’s as real as it gets. Thank you for reacting to this great old song!

Y'all need to listen to some Hard Candy Christmas for the holidays! Dolly, as always, rocks it!
This is what I think of when I think of country. It’s not my thing but there’s nothing wrong with this.
Idk if he did the oroginal but i think it was hank jrs song
Almost any George song (or most old country) can bring me to tears because that's the stuff I was raised on, and it takes me back to the best childhood a guy could hope to have (hardships, and all). It's getting tough to type this out. . .
Anyway, a friend of mine used to work at Dollyworld in an executive position, and said Dolly is an awesome person, and way more smaller in stature than you'd imagine.
I really liked that you guys reacted to this song. More old time country, please!
Time to go back and watch/listen to this again.
Another awesome George & Dolly song is Rockin Years! Love it!
Hank Williams Jr recorded this song
Hank jr,wrote and sang ,,,he's the original singer
I bought this cd several years ago and I cried when I heard this song. I didn't realize it was Hank Jr's at the time. It fit George's life, too. I love George and I love Dolly and this one just hits me everytime I listen to it. Love your reviews....even though I'm just seeing this one from 2 years ago.
