Ms. Loretta Lynn is basically saying she will cut a b*tch with that “Bless your heart” type Southern grace. Sis is an icon.
don't mess with a southern belle :}
Oh Word... That is sooo funny, but True!!!
My thoughts exactly. Well said...and oh, so true!
Yes we southenbelles Can be like that : }'
😁😁😂😂😂🤣
“Women like you they’re a dime a dozen, You can buy ‘em anywhere.” That’s a sick burn delivered with a smile. She is deservedly a legend! RIP, Loretta.
This was the anti-Jolene song. She wasn't begging, she was telling!
Loretta Lynn became a grandmother at the age of 34. She was a true Kentucky coal miner's daughter.
I like Jolene honestly, but it did come off as "you're better than me, but please I need my man, please don't take him T_T."
Was looking for a song with some spunk to tell ladies to eff off. XD
NHindividualist No, “Fist City” is the anti jolene song
That’s right! She had a tough life.
This song was written for her husband as well as “don’t come home a drinkin”
Actually, she was a grandma at 29. She had a baby at 14, and that one had one at 15.
She wrote all of her songs based from her life experiences. She picked up the guitar her husband bought her and made history. Loretta is a legend
Loretta is a savage. In a time where country music had pretty much been the “Good Ole Boys Club” and woman had a hard time in the music business she stood alone. A lot of female country stars got their shot by singing with a well established male artist, Loretta paved the way for them all❤️
By 19 she was a mother of 5 she toured radio stations around by car with packed bologna sandwiches and her guitar and a dream
That's dope
don't forget Patsy Cline who she looked up to and decided to follow in the footsteps of\ rise up with{and named one of her daughters after}. she influenced a lot of females but she was also influenced by a couple herself.
@@OldIndigone I also like some of her balads about growing up though, not a single song can compare to Cole Miner's Daughter. I actually have a copy of her original 'Demo' Vinal Record and the original sounds so much better than all the auto-tune you will hear in modern versions on cd\digital versions. if you ever have a chance to listen to any of her older records on vinal then take it. it is so worth it.
She was 27 when she started performing not 19.
Y'all hit the nail on the head. Loretta literally smiles as she's singing. When she's annoyed at something that happened on stage or singing a backhanded lyric (which she's famous for doing), the smile gets even wider. It's awesome that you can hear it.
Loretta passed today at 90 years old good reaction RIP Loretta
As a Southern Woman let me give y’all a little warning - the sweeter we smile the faster you better run 😉
As a Texan I can vouch for that!!! 😂🤣😂🤣
You know I heard that >;J
As a Southern (Texan) male, you are NOT joking.
@@DarthRevan-lu6xp I’m also a Texan - I don’t typically put us in the “southern” category (Texas is a category all its own 😊) but this is something we have in common with other “southern” states 😉
Amen to that!
Now you should watch Coal miners daughter! It explains where this song came from. Soooo good.
Yessss. George and Ryan. Please do!
Scrolled down to comment exactly this. One one of my favorite movies ever.
Yes please!
Great movie
Yes most definitely!
Loretta Lynn is great. You should listen to her song "Fist City."
Great review guys. How about hank jr country boy can survive
I was about to say the same thing.
For real. She wrote this stuff herself.
I agree they would *love* Fist City
I agree. "You Ain't Woman Enough", is a good song but "Fist City", is better IMO.
if you want to keep that arm , you better take it off my husband.. ((Cole Miners Daughter) "Sissy Spacek" playing Loretta Lynn.
" Stop growling like a big ole bear Doo"
good line !
That was Loretta calling out a basic b*tch with class! Love it!
The Coal Miners Daughter turned Queen of Country Music. A true living legend. Great choice guys.
Patsy Cline Walking after midnight! Legend!!!!
That is my favorite Country song.
Crazy by Patsy Cline I think would be more recognizable.
She's got you or sweet dreams are some great ones.
React to Roger Miller
YES!
"You're the Reason Our Kids are Ugly" Lorretta Lynn and Conway Twitty it's a good song.
Just looked it up LMAO
You need to do Loretta Lynn's "Fist City." Talk about a beat down!
Classic rock Lover the pill is another great song about her life and the times she wrote the song.
Agreed! That and Sqaw is on the warpath 😎
"The man I love, when he picks up trash, he puts it in a garbage can" luv it. Wonderful songwriter.
Check out her biopic Coal Miner’s Daughter from 1980.
Harper valley PTA
So Loretta actually jumped off stage once and whooped a woman in the audience for saying she could take her man. Y'all need to listen to "Fist City" by her.
Whaaaaaattt? 😲 😂
@@LostInVegas She's a G.
@@@LostInVegas Also "Portland Oregon" with her and Jack White from their Album Van Lear Rose.
TRUE APPALACHIAN QUEEN! STRAIGHT FROM THE HOLLER!
@@LostInVegas it happened lol. She is a classy lady but she will cut a ho quick.
A+ analysis gentlemen! Loretta Lynn is the real deal. And she is also a class act. She grew up in utter poverty and brought her self to the promised land. Beautiful!!
"I don't know who you are. But, I know what you are." Please watch Coal Miner's Daughter 💞
I love the scene where she's writing this song on the bus after that incident and he says to her something like, "Now where did you ever get an idea like that, LORetta?" LMAO!! I love that scene!
Love that movie!!!
YESSSS! That is my movie. ❤
"Hold on baby I forgot my parrots." LOL
One of my favorite movies!
RIP LORETTA ..THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES !!!!
Harper valley pta is a another strong woman putting people in their place song. Y’all would love it,!
Loretta wrote her own songs and yes they were based on her life. In her movie she wrote this song after pulling her husband out of the back seat of the car with another woman after finishing her show pulling him to the bus so they could leave. She released a new album recently and I bought out of respect. I grew up listening to her and could probably sing her hits word for word. She's had a stroke and isn't able to tour has she'd still love to. The fans will be there to the end. I'm sure I will shed tears the day I hear of her leaving this world. Miranda Lambert is the only female that can come close to her laid back country sound and do it justice. I could go on forever. There will never be another Queen of Country music. Thank you for giving her the respect she deserves.
Not sure if you care but the band paramore coverd this song and i think the singer did really good
And the fact she put the work in to fix her marriage rather than taking the easy way out is a testament to her.
Fist City! Love that song!
@Ian Hernandez I never said Miranda would be as good as Loretta. I said Miranda was the only one who could do it justice. Before I'm accused I'm not a big Miranda fan. I've listened to Loretta since 1967 and love her easy going fun loving way..... why 67, because I was born in 65.
where can I get her new albums? I can't find them anywhere. I have a copy of a few of her vinal records though and the 20th century Master collection of her earlier hits. I'd love to listen to some of her newer stuff to see how much has changed\stayed the same. I grew up with Miss. Lorretta's music as well and just can't get enough of it when I get nostalgic for the good ol' days.
Loretta is a gem. All class and sass!! Thanks guys for your great reaction!
Ms. Lynn would never have to get vulgar to get her point across! She also has remained current; check out her duo with Jack White!
Great reaction as always!" "you know i'll beat your ass" with a smile on her face"- lol that exactly it!!
A naturally great voice but also an amazing songwriter. Jack White recorded an album with her about a decade ago and was shocked when it was time to select songs for the album. She pulled a box out from under her bed that was filled with paper. Every page was a song she had written and not recorded. Probably a hundred songs sitting there in the box. She picked up whatever 10 or 12 papers were on top, and every single one of them was good enough to make the album. Jack White said he was salivating... wondering what else was in that box.
Robert Reichle love it
I remember 3rd grade in Oklahoma, I was invited to a tea party with my little 3rd grade friends. We were supposed to dress up as a famous person and I dressed up like Loretta Lynn.
She had another song about going to Fist city.
I think you guys would have fun with Harper Valley PTA. Can’t remember who did it. Another pissed off woman song😂
Steven Moles it’s by Jeanne C. Reilly. And I LOVE that song.
Written by Tom T. Hall
John Odum never knew that! Great song writer!
Yesss!!! Jeannie C. Riley. And the movie was great too!
Oh yeah, I LOVE that song!
Jerry Reed - She Got The Goldmine. Really fun classic country song. He had a style unlike anyone else.
Or Jerry Reed - Amos Moses.
Always respect The Snowman,
You guys are so respectful and intuitive in your reviews. And just fun to watch !
RIP Loretta Lynn 10/4/2022 - Love this video. Thanks for sharing the Coal Miner's Daughter with your audience.
You want to hear another country legend check out the great CHARLIE PRIDE.
I grew up with my mother listening to Charlie Pride and Freddie Fender. She also loved Charlie Rich as well. Legendary singers that left a legacy for the next generation!
Yes. My mom has just about every Charlie Pride album he had out in the 60s and 70s. My favorite song of his is "Anybody going to San Antone".
Deborah Peterson and the next generation is straying far away from real true country music. This crap they playing nowadays ain’t worth a shit.
RED SOX FAN 36 This is why I tell people I'm not a country music fan, because I'm referring to singers today...pure garbage. If there wasn't technology available, we would have never heard of them. Hell, with auto tune, I sound great myself. 😂
I'm up for that. Kiss an Angle Good Morning is one of Charlie Pride's greatest songs. but there are so many more to choose from. Don't let my bias sway which one they\you pick.
I would love to see you to react to “Crazy” Patsy Cline. AMAZING VOICE!!
I was thinking the same thing...Lynn and Cline were friends and both iconic. Crazy was written by That redheaded stranger Mr Willie Nelson. So you would have two of the greats in one song. But I fall to pieces, or Walking after midnight, or "She's Got You" would also be great songs. Crazy though was her big cross over song
A great song by a great song writer, Willie Nelson
One of the best voices ever Patsy
@@melissatomlin13 Sweet Dreams still gives me chills.
Oh yes!!! Great song
You guys need to do one for "Stand by your Man" to round out the trio with this one and Jolene. I love your take on these songs.
They did Jolene, don't know about the others.
Dolly Parton said "please don't take my man" Loretta Lynn says "You ain't woman enough to take my man"
You guys have my heart AGAIN. She wrote real stuff and dealt with controversial topics before a lot of people. You should watch Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones in Coal Miners Daughter...it’s based on her autobiography.
Yes. And there is a scene that addresses the inspiration for writing and recording this song. lol Pulled a women off her husband in the back seat of a car. After running her off, she lit in on her husband. Wrote that song after that. Loretta grew up very poor in a coalmining town of Kentucky. A hard environment and she is a tough gal. she was just a very young teen when she married. I always admired how she stuck with Do, in spite of his infidelity and sometimes abusive ways. I remember her skipping a big awards show,( that she was to receive an impressive award) because she was by his side in the hospital. Her husband is who started her career and they went through a lot together. I lost count of how many times I have watched Coal Miners daughter. Sissy Spacek was awesome and even did the singing herself. Sounded just like Loretta.
I remember being a really little girl dancing around at my grandparent's house, just "sangin'" this song along with the record. This brings back many happy memories. You should listen to The Pill, if I remember right, some stations banned the song when it came out, due to its controversial subject- birth control.
Loretta Lynn has also sang duets with Jack White of the White Stripes. She done things to stay relevant in modern times, but she has never lost her unapologetically country sound. She is the true Queen of Country. Thanks for the respect guys!
Y’all should take a listen to her song “Fist City” by Loretta. I think y’all would get a kick out of it!
OMG yes! Dolly begged Jolene not to take her man, Loretta warned her what would happen if she tried!
Loretta, the Queen. She was (is) always real and relatable which is why her fans love her SO much. 💕
Loretta Lynn was radical in the 60s. She got banned from country radio for singing about taking the pill. Sounds pretty tame now but wasn't then.
Jeannie Riley...Harper Valley PTA! Y'all will enjoy it, I promise! 💙💙💙
I am a HUGE country fan and I have loved Loretta Lynn all my life, she is one of my role models. I loved hearing your review of her song more than 40 years later. You both are absolutely adorable and so i subscribed to your channel!
Thanks for the truly respectful props to Loretta Lynn. She is truly an American treasure.
I remember my Nana listening & singing to this song in the kitchen when I was little ❤ one of those songs I love for the memories and maybe not the song itself
Y’all need to do Mama Tried.
Better yet, Sing Me Home.
danny lopez hell yes
YEEEEEEEES!
I think a real good one would be branded man
You should do “Portland Oregon” by Loretta. The album was produced by Jack White and the song is amazing.
I just subscribed I love the respect you guys have for the oldies!
Please check out some Willie Nelson. Blue eyes crying in the rain or Seven Spanish angel's with Ray Charles
Seven Spanish Angels, definitely.
OMG!! Seven Spanish Angels is ALL THAT!!
7 spanish angels 👏👏
I've been asking for Seven Spanish Angels for a year.
@@bobbierobinson6269 Theirs got to be somehow we can get through to them
Great video again! A little different message than Dolly Partons' Jolene. Check out Lorettas' duet with Jack White of the White stripes called Portland Oregon its an amazing song . Thanks for the video
Two songs to consider Fist City or The Pill by Loretta Lynn
Just discovered you guys, what a great thing you have going on! Love it!
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road, also Patsy Cline - Crazy (its old school country)
Shout out for Randy Travis. Forever and Ever or Deeper than the Holler would be my 2 recommendations.
Three Wooden Crosses has the lyrics to really get them, would be my guess.
+1 for three wooden crosses
I love three wooden crosses
I told you so would be awesome as well
Loretta is sublime! She gives a similar sentiment in Fist City. Also You're Looking at Country has very clever lyrics...she wrote most of her songs.
oh this is one of the first songs that I learned as a little kid. All of Loretta Lynn’s music is what I grew up on. This is great!
Vince Gill! Go rest high on that mountain 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's a sad song right there, funeral material
Written for Vince's brother who passed.
She is a TRUE legend, deserves so much respect. WELL earned
"Woman, if you wanna keep that arm you better take it off my husband."
I adore your reaction to songs , I'd love to spend an afternoons listening to old records . You two are a great team .
I love this song. My grandma listened to this all the time when i was young
Loretta Lynn wrote this song, and although her husband was known to be a well practiced philanderer, she did not get the hook from having to deal with his dalliances. Instead, she was trying to comfort a friend who was afraid she was losing HER man to another woman. Loretta told her, "Honey, she ain't woman enough to take your man," and immediately realized when she said it, what a great hook for a country song, and so it was.
I think Loretta said it best in another song she wrote: (If You're Lookin' at Me) You're Lookin' at Country. They don't get any more country than Loretta. She's the real deal.
Last week i have never heard of you and now i have binged watched so many videos lol. You guys are amazing and love the honest reviews!!!!!!
I'm so happy I found this site!! You're great!!
Ronnie Milsap “ stranger in my house “ This guy has over 40#1 hits and no one from my generation knows who it is.
I do! I love Ronnie Milsap
His voice was pure gold.
Ronnie Milsap is amazing but that song always made me laugh when the line, "someone here that I can't see" was sung. Him being blind just made that funny to me but he is one of my favorite artists! Smokey Mountain Rain, Legend In My Time and really everything he did was incredible!
He was amazing in concert. There was a duet album released couple months ago of his top hits. Really good album
You should listen to Harper Valley PTA by Jeannie C. Riley.
Yes
Omg!!! I used to sing that song at the TOP of my lungs when I was a kid !!!
You guys are fun and respectful. Enjoyed the video!
I just discovered this channel and subscribed. You two are great guys who are so much more open-minded than most people. I love it! 👏👏👏
“Fist City”. Loretta Lynn
Loretta Lynn. LEGEND in DEED. I enjoyed your reaction to this song. U guys r awesome and always making me laugh. 👍😘
You guys should check out Wanda Jackson. She never made it huge because she was so versatile, ironically. Music industry didn't know what to do with her. Got to see her live when she was in her 70s--still amazing.
You guys are great, love your reaction videos! I don't listen to Country music now but my Grandparents did when I was young. So Loretta Lynn & Dolly Pardon are very nostalgic for me. Hadn't heard these old songs in awhile, brings back nice memories. Thank you.
Bonnie Raitt “I can’t make you love me” is instant playlist material!
Agreed BIG TIME, one of my all-time favorite songs without exception. Few things get me all misty inside, but that song hits deep.
So classic that George Michael and Prince both did covers. ;)
Prince's version wasn't too bad, but George Michael's was ALMOST as good as the original.
Her cover of "Angel from Montgomery" is outstanding too
Fun fact: Adele is also on the record as claiming it's one of her all time favorite songs, and she did a fantastic cover of it on her Royal Albert Hall live album.
It's so nice to get a fun country song. So many of the big hits, especially from the OGs, seem to be slow, sad songs. These are the songs that stick with me more. Like Rodger Miller "King of the Road" and "Dang Me" or Johnny Cash "A Boy Named Sue."
Great reaction, guys. Can't wait to see if you get around to The Ocean. :)
My mother loved this woman. Sang just like her. Rip mom
Y'all gave goods props to Loretta. Thank you for recognizing her accomplishments.
Boy Named Sue or Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash
FYI, "Boy Named Sue" was written by Shel Silverstein. I think my fave Johnny Cash song is "One Piece At a Time".
Cocaine blues
Yes cocaine blues!
"God's gonna cut you down" Johnny Cash
Dont take your guns to town is another good Cash song
One of my favorite African American country artist is charlie pride. Check him out. Very great lyrics and voice
Corey Jefferson he was awesome!
Charlie Pride is awesome!
YES! Loved him!
Kiss an angel good morning
What a cool channel! I love the respect that you guys give these legends! ❤️
I love your approach on the oldies. It's super awesome just to watch you two discuss them. Your both adorable and funny.
Please do Seven Spanish angels by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles
How many times can I hit like?
She had a song that was considered to controversial for some radio stations to play. The name of the song was The Pill .
Marlena Craft Love that song! Got it on one of my playlists 🙂
Yes! I came to the comments to say that. For a genre that is most often associated with conservatism, she was/is extremely progressive.
For a genre associated with conservatism you'd be surprised how many artists are progressive-minded, and not just Lynn. ;)
True.
and Rated X which came out about the same time as this supposedly about the same woman and\or one of her female friends in the music industry. [music beefs\fueds are not new and only for the rap
ock genres. XD]
I love your reactions to songs that you've never heard. Especially of so many different genres.😃😍
I seen Loretta Lynn twice at the Grand Ole Opry!! I seen her first time in 1981 and the second time in 2003!!
Harper Valley PTA - Jeannie C Riley
Could y'all react to "a country boy can survive" by hank Williams jr
Yes! I agree. They need to hear that.
Definitely agree
Yes, yes, yes. Great song.
yes!
and Cadillac Blues By his son Hank III or as he prefers to be called Trey.
I just stumbled on these two-(this is my second viewing from them) THEY ARE SO KOOL!!! REMINDS ME OF FUN TIMES BACK IN DA DAY WITH FAM! I'm hooked!!!
i just to thank you guys for keeping old school alive we got to we can never let these songs die and yesterday was my first time hearing this song and im in love with this music
Ray Charles and Willie Nelson Seven Spanish Angels. Oh man, I'll never get enough of you guys reacting to country, especially legends. Too bad Garth Brooks stuff is so copyrighted. In Lonesome Dove is a great "story" song. Lots of great ones actually. Edit: Thought he was bad about not letting things be out there for free, but went looking and a good many came up on YT. Gonna enjoy while I can.
Loved this! If you all get a chance, check out Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Emmylou Harris, Anne Murray, and Patsy Cline... these ladies are also country legends.... 💙
I dont wanna play house is one of may fav tammy wynette songs
I'd add Tanya Tucker and Wanda Jackson to that list
Ugh, totally forgot about her!
Gayle with her Rapunzel hair
Dolly?
You guys had me rolling on this one. Awesome.
I loved your reaction! My Papa listened to this music. New subscriber. ✌🏼
Love Loretta a lot, but Patsy, and Dolly were always my faves.
Some recommendations:
Shania-dance with the one that brought you
Martina McBride -Independence Day
Crystal Gayle (Loretta's sister)-Don't it make my brown eyes blue
Mary Chapin Carpenter-Passionate Kisses
Roseanne Cash-Runaway Train
Reba-Fancy
Dixie Chicks -Not ready to make nice.
Y'alls positive energy always makes me hit that "like" button before I've even seen the video haha!! I'm so glad I found your channel - I really appreciate how you research and try to see the perspective of the artist you are reviewing. Keep up the great work and Happy Thanksgiving!!
I love this channel. In a world as crazy and at times divided as ours, you serve as an example of open mindedness that all should strive to emulate. One never knows what one may like or dislike if they never try it in an unbiased way. Music, food, people or anything in this world all have a place, a following and should be respected. We’re all really the same people and many of our basic likes and dislikes are influenced by our upbringing and experiences. Roll on and have a great year doing what you do👍
She sings this on a television show playing her guitar. And yes she was smiling while she was singing this.
You gotta do Don Williams.
Awesome! More females and more country! Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynet, Trisha Yearwood, Miranda Lambert! ❤️ you guys! And Happy Thanksgiving!!
Y'all always make me laugh. I've been listening to this song most of my life and so enjoyed watching your reactions as you heard it for the first time. I like the respect you give to all of the songs that y'all review regardless of the genre. Please check out Miss Loretta singing Fist City. It is a something else.
Great reaction, I think you guys nailed it!
