BinBok: THE BEST JoyCon Replacements EVER?? // Clay

- Chances are if you own a Switch with detachable JoyCon, you have, at some point, gone on the hunt for replacements. Maybe something larger, less prone to drift - controllers with added features like Turbo or an additional programmable trigger on the back.
If that sounds like you, then you absolutely need to take a look at the BinBok LED JoyCon Replacement controllers.

UPDATE - These get used daily still and I haven’t had any issues. Going strong!

@@C1aYalC you just lost yourself a customer
But how can I lose something I never had? 🤔
I got these about a month ago. They’re great. One issue I had was the first pair, the right joycon kept disconnecting unless I bent down on it so I had to replace it with Amazon. The replacement pair has been perfect though.
Interesting! I’ve not heard of that issue before. Have heard people having problems with DPad, but I didn’t have those issues either.
Glad your replacements are working for you!
Love the viddddd I couldn't figure out how to map my back buttons and ur vid helped a lottt
Thank you for making this review, I was struggling on what controller I should get for my Nintendo switch, and you really helped! Thanks man!
Hey no problem! Glad I could help out! They really have been great - hope you enjoy them as well!
awesome video man! I was planning to get this when my joy-cons get drift
Great review man! Solid no nonsense information. Just got these on sale for $36 bucks and your review was the deciding factor.
Awesome! Glad it was useful for you!
This video is a certified hood classic
Eagerly awaiting the Chopped and Screwed version
Thanks so much I really dig your overall style and explanations on everything. SUB + LIKE for telling how to program the colors and turbo features which I had been looking on YT for quite some time! Can't wait to see more
Thanks a lot! Glad it was helpful for you and really appreciate you hanging around! I’m working on more - life just got in the way recently haha.

Excellent review, thanks
No problem! Thanks for stopping by!
I got these a while ago, they are amazing except the dpad! Opened mine up and removed the little plastic stickers that they placed on the rubber pad and they improved soo much.
They fixed that with the new v2 release
@@ActionJaxonH there'd a v2?
@@thatanonwholurksmoar7386 Yeah, there are new versions actually, they don't really mention it though
Saw the Crosscode box and it made me so happy 🥰🤩💙
Really well done review, man. I've had these for over a month now and I agree. They're great.
Thanks a lot for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I am really loving them
I always play my switch portable. Been using hori since my original joycon start drifting. Now the ZR button of my hori became abit unresponsive. Just got this binbok for my birthday and Im thrilled to try these bad ass joycon. I love that they have rumble which is missing all this time I have been playing using split pad pro
I LOVED the HORI Split Pad but these put HORI to shame. The fact that they were able to include rumble, gyro AND a battery blows me away. HORI now just seems way too overpriced for what little functionality you actually get.
I hope you really enjoy these!!
I play handheld and i will be buying that BinBok Controller. Thanks for the video
Absolutely! Hope you enjoy it!
I ordered me a pair of those, can't wait to replace my drifting joycons.
Heck yeah! They are very good at not drifting haha
Good review 👍
Thank you so much :)
Thanks Bro
Bought some myself a few months back. It’s amazing that a no name company can make a better controller then Nintendo themselves. Great review👌🏾
For real! They are so good it’s hard to believe it’s not a Nintendo, HORI or PDP that made them. Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated 😀
@@C1aYalC thank you for the informative piece good sir! Will definitely check out your other videos. You got a sub from me👌🏾
Absolutely! That’s what I try to do! Thanks for the sub, it’s greatly appreciated!
Do they still work?
@@AnarickTheDevil yup! Like a charm. I’ve gotten probably 200+ hours using them. Even decided to get another pair but in white
Did the deadzones get fixed by now? With an software or Hardware update? (v2.. or so)
Hi Clay! Awesome content! Keep up the awesome videos. Just want to ask you with the dpad, is okay to use it as is or should i remove the stickers inside? Thanks and stay safe.
I gotta say, after making this video was the first time I’d heard of the sticker thing for the dpad and honestly I had no issues with it out of the box. I am going to open it up and take a look now though. But for me, right out of the box was fine.
I’ll remove my stickers and then come back and give you an update :)
@@C1aYalC Thank you so much! I actually ordered this controller after watchig you video. Will be sharing your vids yo my friends who also ordered this.
Just out of curiosity, about how many hours have you used these joycons at this point and are they still working well? I also have concerns about their reliability because they look too good to be true at their price point.
All very valid questions:
1) I used these for about a month before the video went live, so since early February. They are the only thing I ever use when playing handheld in the house - on trips I take the Fixture S1 and use the Pro Controller. They are still holding up very well through all these months.
2) I have had no issues whatsoever with mine. The newer models appear to have updated the dpad - I can’t speak to that unfortunately. However the sticks aren’t loose, the face buttons aren’t mushy and the triggers still feel great. The battery still holds its charge perfectly and the rumble still feels pretty good.
Hope that helped clear up anything you may have had concerns on!
Maybe I can finally play my Switch on handheld mode...
Haha legit these have replaced my HORI pads. Been playing 3D World every night in handheld with them.
Glad I found your Review. I think I’ll be getting these instead of Hori. I only play switch in handheld with the Satisfye grip, but want better analog sticks. I think the turbo will make Light Bowgun use in Monster Hunter much more comfortable
Awesome man! I’m glad you found it too! They are great and I love the Satisfye grip too, but not worrying about JoyCon drift with these has been amazing. I failed to mention in the video if you don’t want the ring lights on, there is the option to turn them off.
@@C1aYalC I probably will keep them on. They look cool to be honest 😂
Also, if you had issues with the D Pad being “mushy” as I have heard from Amazon reviews, I found they released a new model of these with a “clicky” D Pad. It does not have the triggers on the back, though, but does still have turbo.
Yeah, I’ve talked to people who have the new version and it seems like it’s just not as good overall.
I’ve not had any issues with my DPad though. But I’ve seen the reviews saying others have.
@@C1aYalC It looks like the new model is much smaller too, which kind of defeats the purpose of wanting the “full size” controller feel
@@C1aYalC I can’t seem to find the old version on Amazon. Even ones that have a pic of the old version, the description says “updated version” 😢
When in handheld I use the Hori split pad. I use an offical pro controller when docked. I avoid joy-cons like the plague. Have a couple game that require gyro in handheld mode, these binboks might work for that.
100% I’ve got a video on the HORI SPPs as well and loved them over anything else - but when it came to gyro or vibration cues in games like Odyssey or Luigi’s Mansion 3 these were absolutely amazing.
@@C1aYalC got a short vid on the split pad myself
Sadly it seems theres another version on Amazon from Binbok, without the remappable back buttons, and also thinner. I got them explicitly for the larger grip so a bit of a let down there. I'll give them a few days but I think I'll be returning them and trying to get the wide ones. Its a shame they don't even really describe them differently. I heard binbok, searched binbok, saw split design, then ordered them.
Ah that stinks - the link I left in the description should have taken you right to the ones I talked about here.
Still unfortunate to be expecting something and it turn out to be the complete wrong thing.
I will say it looks like their popularity recently has caused BinBok to increase the price.
There are sort of 3 versions at the moment: the original ones, which had d pad issues, the second thinner ones and the third, which looks identical to the first one but supposedly without the issues. You can see the last two displayed on their website at the moment.
They seem to have completely been pulled from Amazon. I received mine back in February and now when I go to view them in my Amazon account they’re no longer available.
Looks like you can only order them directly from Binbok now.
@@macatron69 I got mine mid-March, haven't monitored the availability since then, but I remember I couldn't order via the binbok website back then, it wouldn't go to the payment page and showed an error
So you can charge those controllers while Switch get docked?
Yep, they are powered just like regular JoyCon
A whooping year later after this review, how do these controllers hold to you after a year? Did they ever drift? Are they still fine?
I bought mine recently and I been scared about them breaking on me.
All very fair questions - a year later, still using them. No drift, no complaints. Still just as good as the first couple months.
How are the sticks for fps games. Also these look like the grips are thicker the hori ones are abit flat not much to hold in your fingers
These are overall thicker than HORI’s but the base of the SPP where the majority of your grip is feels a little thicker but tappers off towards the top. These feel pretty thick all the way up - nice to have something to hold on to.
Not sure if you’d really want to use these for FPS games, especially if you are really competitive. There is just enough of a dead zone you’d be easily thrown by it in games like that. It’s not a big dead zone, but when you are trying to whip around and get quick shots off, you’ll notice it.
I like the binbok joycons
I hate how my joycons wobble in handheld so hopefully these are stiff and firm
They do feel a lot better - not sure how they’ll be in the long term after a year or so, but for right now they are solid
Fave you put tape on the bottom part of the rail on the tablet?
Can these be used with a Windows 10 PC? I am currently using a switch but thinking about upgrading to a PC down the road.
A couple of the reviews I’ve seen say yes they do work with PC but not recommended. I personally have not tested them with a PC
I'm using them with ReWASD atm and they're fairly good
@@jhulenoscarantezanamendez6106 That's what I plan to use too.
Do you know if you can remap the buttons in Nintendo settings ?
I don’t, but that is a good question! I’ll check it out and get back with you!
I have them and love them
🤘🏻😜
yo clay. do you know how to change the vibration settings? cause my step brother fucked with it and now i dont know how to change it back
Dang there is a way but I can’t remember!
Just noticed this is a month old while typing. Hopefully you’ve found the answer?? If not I can do some digging!
@@C1aYalC i have not yet. ive read the manual is comes with but its the same as the led settings.
Ah yes. The joycons that are never available. Pure suffering
Oof. They’re still unavailable? That’s crappy
Now,they are available i order already!!!!!!!!
Pretty sure they're available, my dude. Mine are coming in today. It helps to check daily... not one seller on Amazon was out of stock. Maybe it was a you issue 🤷🏽♀️
Search up IINE
Do they charge attached to the switch on the dock?
They do!
Is there any risk for the switch not working properly or in worst cases breaking using these third party controllers? If not I’m basically sold.
No, these will not brick or break the Switch. They basically act exactly as the officially licensed HORI Split Pad Pro and the Switch sees them as regular JoyCon. I’ve been using the HORI Pads for a couple years and these for a few months with no issues at all.
worth upgrading from hori split pad pro?
If rumble and gyro are incredibly important to you - maybe. If not, saving the money and sticking with what you already have is probably the better option.
the stock joycons are great however i suggest not using them in fighting or fps games. in fps games it feels like theres a slight input delay or something because when using them you can see theres a pause while aiming. moving around is great, but again aiming not so much. in fighting games who doesnt prefer an actual dpad over analog sticks? if you prefer the stock joycons, but want a dpad you dont have to get the hori dpad joycon. extremerate makes custom shells that come with a dpad. sure it takes time to put each one together, but in the end its worth it and they have alot of different designs to choose from. dont know why people just dont do this instead of buying a non wireless joycon with no extra features from hori when you can just make your own for $20 ($55 if you also want rgb light mod for your stock joycons). hell you can even use a dpad from an old controller and just use a dremel to modify the stock shell, but thats if your really desperate for a dpad. now about the binbok joycons. the type-c port under each one even tho you can use for charging its actually used for firmware updates. you dont need to charge each one separately and dont need to have them attached to your switch you can just remove the grips from the charge grip and use the binbok joycons while charging (buy a 10ft usb-c cable the one switch comes with is too short). if your switch came with a grip with no charge port you can get one from walmart pretty cheap. your review for the binbok is very informative unlike most reviews ive seen, but its helped me decide to buy one i just cant decide if i want this or the smaller version. sorry for the long comment, but wanted to add a solution to the joycon dpad issue if people dont want the binbok ones. now if only they added nfc and if extremerate would make custom shells for these they would be perfect
Can you turn off the lights on the analog ring?
You absolutely can! I neglected that in my review of them, but yes. It is possible to turn them completely off if you don’t want them on.
Is there some way to deactivate the rgb of those joycon?
Yep, sure can! The same way you select your color, you can use that method to turn it off as well.
Edit - 7:35
How do you change the vibration?
Good question - the pair that I have don’t let you. Possibly the newish updated versions do? But I can’t say for certain.
@@C1aYalC I'm buying a controller similar to the BinBok, except the company is IINE, but I'm pretty sure they're the same manufacture, though, on this site I'm buying it at is way cheaper than the BinBok, I'm not sure if it's also updated or not, should I doubt and not buy it?
I was not a fan of the Split Pad. These look considerably better
For sure. I admittedly liked the Split Pad for what it was/is - but will stand behind these being much better. Maybe in a year they break and turns out they suck, but for right now, they are my go to.
@@C1aYalC I ended up giving my Split Pad to my nephew. I have a set of joycons I use in handheld mode, but they all pale in comparison to the Fixture S1 IMO. Such an amazing device.
Speaking of ........ ;) lol
@@C1aYalC ?
@@RoXolid that thing sucks cuz the pro controller has to many drawbacks to be good. with how good the wii u pro controller was im surprised how bad nintedo dropped the ball. all they had to do was give it motion and make the rumble HD but they did not.
basically
I play in handheld with binbok and a battery pack charger case
Sweet! How’s that setup??
Can u plz suggest the case for this joycon
I'm way late but I have heard the Satisfeye case holds these pretty well -- can't confirm that though.
4 months later now, any stick drift at all?
None at all. Still going strong. They get used daily as well and I haven’t had any issues.
@@C1aYalC I’m really tempted to buy these, but I am allergic to cheap plastic. (Not literally) but can’t stand it. Need a premium feel. How cheap would you say the face buttons/triggers feel?
How do you feel about Power A controllers? They have about the same plastic feeling as those.
@@C1aYalC UPDATE: So I went to purchase the Bin Bok joy cons at 2am, accidentally ordered the smaller size. They’re OK. Are the analog sticks the same size as the bigger model Bin Boks?? I know the face buttons are. It’s a very loud and clicky sounding controller, which is the only con thankfully. I’ve used a PowerA controller for Switch once, the wireless $50 one, and it honestly feels far inferior to the real pro controller. Not worth saving $10-20 IMO.
can you turn the rgb leds off?
Excellent question and an oversight on my my part for the review, but yes, you can turn them off if you don’t want them on.
@@C1aYalC nice
Is this worth now, cuz I live in India and the updated version isn't available here, and the one you're showing now is only available, so smh I donno that should I get it or not

Yooo!!! Nice!!
hi can i know this joycon can play mario party?
Hey! Actually yes it can. It’s very uncomfortable because of the way it’s made but they can be used separately off of the switch like regular JoyCon
Does the Binbok Feel cheap?
They do not. It feels better than the HORI Pad in terms of heft/quality. The HORI Split Pads feel empty and these don’t give that feeling at all.
Is the d pad as bad as people say it is?
For me it hasn’t been. Its not as crisp as Pro Controller but its as good on this version as the HORI Split Pad

@@C1aYalC no you didn't at 4:19 you said they can charge independently via USB c I just forgot to remove my comment
Oooh nice! And now I’ve over looked my own video haha. I rewatched this thing to see if I said it and I didn’t even catch it. Thank you!
@@C1aYalC no problem
After scouring UA-cam to find the best joycon replacement for handheld use for an actual full grown man I ended up ordering these in white. Comes today and can't wait to play the Switch with them. The normal Joycons are so incredibly uncomfortable for me as im 6'3" with big hands specifically the joysticks on the normal nintendo joycons are just awful.
I feel you my guy! I’m 6’3” as well and I love these. The rumble, ability to use OFF the Switch if you want and gyro put them a step above the expensive HORI Split Pads that don’t offer any of that. The regular joycons just suck if you’re a grown adult with larger hands.
What's crazy is I bought these controllers with the intention to buy a pro controller, then I realized that these controllers are pro controllers.
Basically! Just cut in half and turned into JoyCon haha
Too bad they’re not available anymore, ive been looking for them
Aw dang. I had seen them come back for a bit but they disappear almost as soon as they come back
