I just received mine (milk white version). Very solid joycons. Very light imho, and I was expecting a little bit more heft but that’s a personal preference. One thing I have to say though is that the back ML/MR buttons may not have been quality control tested properly because the buttons recessed way too much into the shell, and the shell can be really sharp when you course your finger on pressing them down and glide your finger across the shell. Had to take them apart and superglue a credit card cutout shiv on the resisting wall for the back buttons to adjust the buttons correctly, and I used a nail filing pad to smooth the edges around the shell where the buttons are to make pressing them feel comfortable. After that adjustment they felt perfect. No regrets on the purchase.
I got the Hyperion today. I will count up the pros and the contras: + No noticeable deadzones on both analog sticks + Vibration can be adjusted + RGB lights can be adjusted + Shoulder buttons are like BUTTER. You gotta love the smooth press on ZL or ZR + Mappable buttons on the backside + Turbo buttons - No HD rumble - No NFC reader - Turbo functions and the mappable buttons only work for each joycon. You can't map the B button on the left mappable button for example. - It barely fits in the original Nintendo Switch docking station, so a third party docking station may be recommended, but not necessary. You can put the console with the Hyperion into the station, but eh...it doesn't slide very smoothly into the station. I know some points are surely mentioned in the video. The biggest un-asked questions are, WILL THE STICKS GET STICK DRIFT? Do they have the new tech of magnetic 'holo sensors' seen in the kong controllers and the ayaneo 2? IF NOT, then it's just another set of mechanical switches that will inevitably fail you in the future. I don't care how pretty it looks if it will fail to do the most simple tasks it was intended for.
Right now, there's the Clear/transparent version for the Hyperion. I feel the Clear versions have better quality material than the classic version. I prefer these rather than the Hori pads, specially because you can use them as a wireless gamepad
@@emmarosa9404 It feels a little bit cheap when compared to the Nintendo Pro Controller, but it's definitely not bad for the price. The few gripes I have... you have to charge each joy con separately. Also, the right joy con seems to turn off or goto sleep quickly, at maybe the 2 min mark. Doesn't happen with the left joy con tho, not sure why this happens. But having the back buttons really make it a joy to use, even if you can only map the left joy con buttons to the left back button, and same on the right. 7.5/10.
I'd really love to see a comparison of these vs the officially licensed Hori pads, especially the build quality, particularly the D-pad. I know that the Hori doesn't come with wireless, rumble, and NFC support, but I'm leaning towards it because of the build quality (just basing it on my past experiences with their products as I've been using their pads since the SNES days.
the horipads have a better feel to them imo. they feel more comfortable in the hands, and feel less cheap. the nyxi have a plastic feeling, whereas the horipads have a bit of grip texture on the back of the split pads. (they both don't weigh much) . The buttons on the horipads feel better as well. I personally prefer the hori sticks as well, but i can see how some people would prefer the nyxi sticks. if it were not for the lack of motion control i would always take the horipads over the nyxi joypads. Only for games in which motion controls (and maybe rumble) are a big thing do the nyxi quite obviously beat the horipads. As they don't have those functions. That is not to say the nyxi are bad. they feel better than the official nintendo joycons (which i don't like). But the only reason why I would pick the nyxi over the hori split pads are cause of some missing features that hori split pads don't have.
@@koopalibrary thank you! I just got my Switch as a Christmas gift. Are there any games (other than Splatoon) that use those missing features? I absolutely need the directional buttons specifically for fighting games (which are my favorite genre) but would also want to play BotW once I'm done with Pokemon Scarlet. Does that game need motion controls?
Got mine and I am a bit mixed on them. I had the hori split compact and enjoyed using them as they didn’t feel as bulky, however, I didn’t like that some button would get stuck, but I did like the joysticks and felt comfortable. The nyxi feel a little lighter than I expected and the build quality feels a bit cheap.. I do like the rgb lights and buttons feel okay. I do wish the xyba buttons had the letters in a different color or would also show the rgb lights. The sides do feel a bit wide, but I am going to try and get used to them. Overall, they seem great
Personally waiting for joycons with electromagnetic thumbstick modules before getting aftermarket joycons. Until then I'll just use it docked with my 8bitdo controller.
In the deadzone test, you should really rotate the stick slower so you can actually see if it sticks anywhere. Most of these third party joycons have deadzones in the cardinal directions. You were rotating the stick so fast I couldn't actually see very well, unfortunately.
What's the sensitivity like on the thumbsticks? I had the original NYXI and loved the ergonomics, but found the sticks weren't nearly as smooth as the Hori split pad
Thanks for the review, I ordered because of your video. I received mine today but unfortunately the package was shipped without any protection inside. As a result, the joycon box was squashed and disformed when delivered. And I suppose as a result the right joycon is defective on arrival :/ the back button and joystick click on right joycon won't register. I suppose they are on CNY break now so I probably won't get any response from their support until end of Jan. It's really unfortunate because I like how the button clicks feel and overall shape. Just want to share my experience here, and hope I can get replacement or refund post CNY.
Feb.18.2023 Update: Received replacement today. Box is in much better shape this time (still a bit damaged on the corners). The new pair works fine except that the vibration motor on the right joycon is way too strong, I had to open it up and swap it with the one in the first pair. Also, the middle piece I got from both packages seems not manufactured correctly, it's very difficult to insert the right joycon, although not impossible (requires some force). Their customer support is responsive post holiday, and they offer full refund as option too. However, they say they can't assist funding or printing the shipping for mailing electronics with batteries, I have to pay the shipping cost, so I didn't choose this option.
I use a pair of controllers similar to binbok but from nexigo. They're not half bad. They always sell out though. So do binbok and nyxi. Why can't hori or nintendo make controllers like this?
Aren't the original Nixie joycon's the same exact joycons as the bin bok just different branding? I have the bin bok ones and when I felt the d-pad I thought oh God But then I used them and they are great. If I remember correctly you can do diagonals on it when you want to but don't do them accidentally unlike the Steam Deck were you can't do diagonals at all and the Switch pro controller where you do diagonals when your not trying to.
I've had these for a week now and I LOVE them! I've been through soooooooooo many joycons and always had things to complain about with all of them. But not these! ....Okay. I have ONE complaint, which I cant find an answer for online so maybe someone here knows and can help. The problem: I dont like the RGB lights. They're distracting. So I turn them off. But every time my console goes into sleep mode and I turn it back on, the lights automatically reset. Is there a way to get them to just stay off for good?
I have never understood the joycon thing. I always have my switch in a controler that the switch actually slides into. All joycons move to much on the sides of the switch. Why would someone want 2 flimsy controllers on the sides of the screen?? Yucky 🤮 the screen needs support. This really chaps my ass. SUB BTW!
Since the new ones are abit wider, will the new ones still fit in the Satisfye case or will it be a tight fit? I think I might buy a pair of Nyxi joy cons, cause I’m going to buy a switch and I’ve seen alot of good reviews on them, but I want to be sure that I buy a case for them that fits
Thing with the satisfied case is they have moulding to fit their grip so it does fit but it wobbles. The Skull and Co case is a better fit. Or just use the Nyxi case which they sell (I go through it in my other Nyxi joycon video) as that fits perfect.
Canadians and UK pronounce Zee as Zed. I learned this a while ago watching Stargate Atlantis when they talked about the ZPM, he called it Zed PM 😅 (Zero Point Module). I like it actually
I have a question, when they are attached to the switch, do they hold securely, I mean if there are no small involuntary disconnections due to a little play between the connectors of the controllers and the switch, if you move a lot while playing there will be no problem ?
Just got mines. Really like them compared to my binboks. Only problem is it right joystick doesn’t move sometimes. I have to put it to sleep and turn it back on and it’s good. One issue is why there isn’t a firmware update for them? They have updates for all the other controllers but not the hyperions.
any thought on reviewing the new Hyperion pro? Looks like the the big difference is new joystick that offers no drift, what is your experience in the drift with the Hyperion at this point some months later?
I have already got the new Pro and video will be live tomorrow!! Few changes with the pro over the Hyperion but having said that, not experienced any drift with the “non pro” Hyperion.
How does the controller feel while attached to the switch? I had a binbok pair a while ago but returned them because they felt loose while on the switch and that made me uncomfortable.
How does the rumble feel? My personal pair of BinBok joy-cons rumble feels reeeeeeaaaally cheap. And playing something like Mario 3D World, there are occasional momments that the rumble starts and just keeps going for a rediculous amount of time. Lol Still comfy, the rumble is my only complaint (perhaps just need an update, not sure)
How many directions do the joysticks have? I've noticed my binbok controllers only have 8 directions that make gameplay on Zelda or dark souls a nightmare while the original Nintendo joycons are much smoother and feel like have more directional inputs
How's the d-pad? That is my biggest concern getting this. I have the first NYXI Joycons and the dpad is..... not great (for me). I kinda dig the design of this more tho.
D-Pad on the Hyperion feels great. I don't have the original to compare but the Hyperion feels solid. Way better than what others have said about the original D-Pad.
yea... I HAD the original NYXI Joycons, too, as it LOOKED like the D-pad would've been great for fighting games... alas, even after playing them on controllers since the early 90s, I could BARELY pull off ANY sort of move that required a rolling motion... so, here's hoping these new ones are better!!
Is this better than the white’s d pad? I love the white joycons but I can’t play fighting games on it because it will not for the love of god give diagonals
Me & Bro thinking getting this, we do like the binbok wire dock controller but their some games we have we think a traditional joycon be better to use for motion controls. Were thinking nyxi since heard good things about their joycons
So the remapable buttons can remap to each side? So the left side isn't stuck to the left side only then? Because I have been trying to find a part that works on both sides each. Where I can have right do anything from left and left can do anything for right for different needs for different games
Great! I much prefer clicky D-pads like the one on PSVita (or GPD's, Pocket 3's and Odin's). How does the Hyperion D-pad compare to that? - are the clicks audible like with the minus button?
How are these things holding up after extended use? I got some of the slim binbok joycons, but the buttons started crapping out less than a month later
Personally I prefer the use of the back paddles, to be able to dock easily and use a much slimmer case. And even if I didn’t then I’d probably get S&Co Good to have choices
Has anyone had NYXI confirm them cancel your order for these? I’ve tried to order them, as well as the case, twice now. Luckily I have been refunded twice, but I’d really like to get them.

@@wrathpsp I don't know if I have any fitting game son my switch but I do know it works for Super Mario. No accidental crouching.
So take slim, sleek, modern , and make it chonk, and look like a 90's gamepad. Roger that...mission accomplished.
Make it cheaper, more comfy and add extra functions.
Thank you for your review ! I've just buy one pair of transparent with your discount code :)
Enjoy!
Any deadzone on right stick or no deadzone ? Thanks ✌🏼
No HD Rumble in these? Bummer. Still might get them though
I haven’t got any controllers or joycons that do have HD rumble. This is good enough though I’d say (feel)
Ordered mine last week ,look to be a good replacement .
SUB BTW!
Just got them and they are so good
Best review I’ve seen
Since the new ones are abit wider, will the new ones still fit in the Satisfye case or will it be a tight fit? I think I might buy a pair of Nyxi joy cons, cause I’m going to buy a switch and I’ve seen alot of good reviews on them, but I want to be sure that I buy a case for them that fits
Thing with the satisfied case is they have moulding to fit their grip so it does fit but it wobbles. The Skull and Co case is a better fit. Or just use the Nyxi case which they sell (I go through it in my other Nyxi joycon video) as that fits perfect.
@@CTAtechdesk Is it's fitment inside the skull & co case is more comparable to the trigger grip with the skull case attached?
What about the weight compare to the hyperion and the athena ?
Might have to get me one of these.
as a mario odyssey and more original nintendo game player i need that vibration i got a hori split pad pro but sadly those don't have vibration in it
for a second I was confused when he said Zedel but he meant it as the zl trigger button
Zedel and Zedar
Canadians and UK pronounce Zee as Zed. I learned this a while ago watching Stargate Atlantis when they talked about the ZPM, he called it Zed PM 😅 (Zero Point Module). I like it actually
Is it possible to play with only one like the original joy con? For just dance by example
Yes it is :)
@@CTAtechdesk do you know what point in time they will release a milky/white Hyperion pro? Would like to buy it
Good enough to play something like Splatoon 3 which requires motion control on it?
I have a question, when they are attached to the switch, do they hold securely, I mean if there are no small involuntary disconnections due to a little play between the connectors of the controllers and the switch, if you move a lot while playing there will be no problem ?
I used mine A LOT and never experience any disconnections. As for weight, its negligible
@@CTAtechdesk okay thx
Hiya! Awesome video.. Are the joycons comfortable to use on their side for 2 player?
For me it’s ok. It’s better than regular joycons due to the size.
Ah okay, thank you for the reply!
Just got mines. Really like them compared to my binboks. Only problem is it right joystick doesn’t move sometimes. I have to put it to sleep and turn it back on and it’s good. One issue is why there isn’t a firmware update for them? They have updates for all the other controllers but not the hyperions.
No updates for these. im not sure why
@@CTAtechdesk I know. Theo they flagships controller
Can you use each joy con independently like the originals for games like Mario kart and 3d Mario?
Yes
So how are the analog sticks and the deadzones on this new model?
This is why I currently don't use my binboks, the deadzone is horrendous!
@@oshanewilliams5152 what deadzone? 💀
except that they randonly disconnect and you have to constantly change the rgb back.
any thought on reviewing the new Hyperion pro? Looks like the the big difference is new joystick that offers no drift, what is your experience in the drift with the Hyperion at this point some months later?
I have already got the new Pro and video will be live tomorrow!!
Few changes with the pro over the Hyperion but having said that, not experienced any drift with the “non pro” Hyperion.
Awesome video! I was wondering if these worked with the two offical joycon charging docks. I can't find anything that answers this question.
Thanks. I can’t confirm that they do but they are almost identical to official joycons so can’t see why not
@@CTAtechdesk Thank you!
How do you turn the led lights off? I have the transparent ones, and I would imagine it would be the same as the black one's shown in the video.
Can you use each as a single controller for 2 players??
Yes you can
Ok thanks :)
How does the controller feel while attached to the switch? I had a binbok pair a while ago but returned them because they felt loose while on the switch and that made me uncomfortable.
Also would like to know this, something everyone seems to leave out of reviews when ime it’s one of the biggest issues
Would you prefer these over the Wizard version? I’m really stuck between these and the Wizards. Your thoughts?
Wizards are quite niche due to the layout of the buttons and different grip. If you don’t need that layout you can’t go wrong with the Hyperion.
It’s in the video. It’s smooth.
Want this but like the new gamecube style one with the : Antidrift word one it. :)
Yeah, I understand. Hoping for a Hyperion with Hall effect.
i love binkbok ones which are similar I just got them yesterday.
I want to order it , is it save ?
Yes
The controller size almost like PS5 or Xbox controller?
No turbo feature ? :( Well guess I won't be buying one. Sad cus I really would like a wireless version of my Hori's
It has very good turbo if thats what you need
Can I play switch sports with these
I havent, but I cant see why not
Do you know of a case that the new hyperion joycons will fit in when attached to the switch?
Nyxi do their own that fit it perfectly. I have one.
Does the console with hyperion fits in the skull&co max carry case? Thanks
It does but it’s tight. Get the Nyxi case, that’s made specifically for it.
T button is turbo or semiauto
Can they be used on PC? I play games mouse and controller.
How are the dead zones though
How's the d-pad? That is my biggest concern getting this. I have the first NYXI Joycons and the dpad is..... not great (for me). I kinda dig the design of this more tho.
D-Pad on the Hyperion feels great. I don't have the original to compare but the Hyperion feels solid. Way better than what others have said about the original D-Pad.
@@pian_pit huh?? Here 0:35 you said you used them for a couple of months, and now you say you didn't own them? what?
@@misterente2952 What are you talking about man? I'm not the one who made the video 😂
yea... I HAD the original NYXI Joycons, too, as it LOOKED like the D-pad would've been great for fighting games... alas, even after playing them on controllers since the early 90s, I could BARELY pull off ANY sort of move that required a rolling motion... so, here's hoping these new ones are better!!
@@jedstuhr So were these new ones better?
Is this better than the white’s d pad? I love the white joycons but I can’t play fighting games on it because it will not for the love of god give diagonals
This is all I want! To enjoy 2d fighters!!! 😢
Does this recognized as joycon on iPhone iOS?
They do "click" but not as "clicky" as the minus button. Hope that makes sense.
Yeah - thanks for clarifying :)
can you use these joy cons separately as two controllers like you can with the stock joy cons?
Yes you can 👍🏻
@@CTAtechdesk ohhhh very nice. Definitely on my shopping list then ^-^
Hi!
How long did it took to arrive after purchase? Thank you!
I cant recall these ones, but for my latest pair it took just under 2 weeks to the UK
How are these things holding up after extended use? I got some of the slim binbok joycons, but the buttons started crapping out less than a month later
Just buy a satisfye grip and the regular joy cons are just fine
Personally I prefer the use of the back paddles, to be able to dock easily and use a much slimmer case. And even if I didn’t then I’d probably get S&Co
Good to have choices
Can somebody please give me a carrying case for these with the OLED
Watching this 3 months later and they sold out. Dang
I was thinking about getting the milk athena ones cause I don't know when they're gonna restock the hyperion 😭
Has anyone had NYXI confirm them cancel your order for these? I’ve tried to order them, as well as the case, twice now. Luckily I have been refunded twice, but I’d really like to get them.
how do these compare to Binbok animal crossing edition? I've watched both your reviews and it's hard to decide on which.
Is the latency low and does it have quick response? I’d like to use for ssb.
