- In this tutorial I will explain how to add proper Helipads, with proper start locations, using the sdk tools, including creating a new Project with the wizard and adding a custom, blender made, landable Helipad
if you are looking for subtitles, I have reupload the video to make them work

My Blender and MSFS hero
Thanks mate!!
Just to note: This requires version 0.20.3 (at least) of the SDK to do this. Earlier versions of the SDK did not allow for Add Start. Excellent tutorial Federico, as always! Cheers!
Thanks a lot!
You need the latest version of the sim running to have helipads and proper choppers!
Good afternoon Federico, thank you very much for your lessons, I want to translate them into Russian and show them in the Russian community, indicating your original, I hope you won't mind, we can also develop regardless of the technological barriers.
Can't thank you enough for this video. I was really hoping to get a crash course into adding scenery, and this was it. Forgot a few small details initially when exporting, but after a couple of tries I worked out where I was going wrong. Now I've had 2 projects on the go within a day of watching this, and the possibilities are endless. Hats off to you, cheers!
Thank you for this. The "old way" with a hidden runway still works, though, but the new start only method makes that unnecessary. I found that when I put the material on the helipad object surface that if I simply tick the two Gameplay Parameters (Collision Material and Road Collision Material) that the helicopter will rest exactly on the surface - no need to tweak positions. However, Asobo still needs to address the cold and dark start when spawning to a helipad if you don't use the runway plus start method.
Keep up these timely updates!
Thanks Sir!
I'm more toward using collision shapes rather that materials cause material don't always works (tries them for my Powerlines addons and other stuff and can happen that the airplane just goes through it)
About cold and dark, think we need to ask the dev team to add the functionality
@@MSFS-SDK-TUTORIALS Thanks for the heads-up on that. It's never failed me, but I only make roadways over bridges. Actually, I had to perform some magic with terraforming for one elevated helipad using the old method, so I thank you for introducing me to this object.
And, yes on the asking.
Thanks a lot for the blender explanaition, very useful!
17:40 The Red desert scenery is in Australia, Simpson Desert. If you watch the MSFS2020 trailer for World Update VII Australia, you will see it. Chao.
Superb tutorial thank you!!
Thanks mate!
One of the greats if not the best tutorial on helipad/heliports, man, thanks for sharing ur wisdom!!
PD: soon i will ask some questions :), cheers!!
Thanks a lot

Hey Federico, thank you very much for your tutorial. Remembering the Trento helipads for X-Plane I hoped very much to enjoy soon many of the north Italy helipads to fly missions with the wonderful HPG145. Now you encourage me to make some of them by myself.
Thanks!
Thank you Federico for this perfect tuto! I wish you a very nice party !
Glad that helped, merry Christmas and happy new year 🎈
Great tutorial, Thank You !!!
Excellent job Federico. Can you elaborate on how to add lighting on the pads please? Is there any standard object to use?
🤔
Thanks Hariosos!
Did you had a look a this tutorial about lights?
Is gonna be illuminating!

Hola amigo Pinotti. Tienes problemas con los de habla Hispana. No vemos los subtítulos en Español. Están desactivados de tu parte.
Actually there are no subtitles in the video, and I have not deactivated them. Subtitles should be generated automatically by UA-cam itself, but sometimes can happen that they are not generated. When, only UA-cam knows.
I will re-upload the video again later, sorry my friend
(I have nothing against Spanish people,or anyone else! 😉)

Subtitles ready to go!
My collision cube gets distorted when I export the model, it gets too tall, nothing like it is in blender. Any ideas?
Thank you for an excellent video. I did not know about the collision mesh.
Sadly, it looks like MSFS will spawn with the engine running once a helipad is selected. If there is a way of preventing this when making the scenery I would like to know. Removing "start" simply removes it from the list of spawn locations at flight selection.
It's strange, I find there are 2 main benefits that come from the earlier way that we had to create Helipads (via an airport with a hidden runway) 1: Cold and Dark start, 2: Airport services, many helipads can be serviced by a fuel truck in real life and the latest option doesn't allow that...
@@Andrewhg1995 There is so much about MSFS that convinces me that no one at Asobo is actually a flight simmer.
@@Andrewhg1995 remember that this is the first implementation of helicopters in the sim 😉
My guess is that the engine running are related to the start location: maybe something in the .flt parameters of the aircraft (normal aircraft other start location =runways spawn with engines on)
About the parkings being better because of the airport services, a bus spawning near the helipad is not really so realistic 😗
Thanks Federico, for the awesome tutorials, I've learnt a lot, I have a question about creating the Checklists in MSFS using the sdk, do you have any tutorials for that, I've tried to understand the concept from the SDK docs, but with no luck 😞, I think there's no tuts for that online.
Thanks Abel!
At this time, all tutorials are more addressed to sceneries, cause those are the matter I know more.
I have a plane in my "hangar", and familiarizing slowly with the airplane part of the SDK
Eventually, when I will considering myself skilled enough 🤓 , I can share some tutorials on aircraft creation too 😁
At the moment, by best advice is to join the Jonx Discord discord.gg/JutjfTRg
Quick question. Can I add Helipads and other stuffs when I pick the custom at the beginning? I plan to improve the city I live and want to make some touches here and there the best I can.
@@captain6198 yes you can
Custom is just a starter template, but you can add Airport object to it whenever you want
in msfs 2020...is there explanation about (1) how to put coconut tree default in airport...??? ...(2) how to design ditch in airport design ....???
1. You can place every kind of object, including trees , if you have a suitable 3d model,.so search your library for trees, palms and so on. About default trees, You can also use a vegetation polygon, and scroll down to biome override if you need s different type of vegetation
2. You can use a Polygon terraforming or a Rectangle with terraforming
Seems like the collision road can't be moved up or down any more, in my properties it doesn't even show me the snap to the ground option, can you help me with that?
Are you sure you have selected the collision road object and not a polygon /apron /other terrain objects?
Collision road is a Scenery object (is a simple plane with collision material and roat material applied to), so it must be possible to move everywhere when snap to ground set to off
@@MSFS-SDK-TUTORIALS yes I'm sure that I had the correct one, I went to fs base and selected collision road, but from there on, everything is a little different in my sdk, in the menu of my airport it is then called projected mesh after I added it and the properties menu is smaller than yours, I just started about a week ago and so I probably have the newest sdk, maybe they changed something so the collision road is always connected to the ground? Luckily I was able to define it as road material in Model Converter X and solved the problem like that
@@benedictrastetter3084 Great that you solved elseway, still confirm that the behaviour of that object (as well all the others) is as in the video.
The interface ot the "sdk" (Project Editor / Scenery Editor) can be fully customized, you can make windows the size you want, dock them everywhere on your screen an so on
