I have been trying to use SDK for many years. For that I have watched many videos on You Tube but any of them really helped . I always got discouraged and gave up.. until I have taken the time to watch your so detailled videos, Very well script. I am so glad now to have overcome this difficulty Thanks to your good work
Robert, that is a comment that makes me happy. I am glad I helped. When I create a video, I try to think like someone who has never performed the work before. I can do better because nothing is scripted; it is all adlib, and I might miss an important point, but that is my approach. I am glad I helped you.
Thanks to your excellent videos, I was finally able to make my own small airport. I never read any manuals if I can help it, you know the type. On top of that SDK is not very user friendly, though it used to be worse a few years ago. Anyway, I was able to create my own simple airport by literally following your video step by step. And whenever I got stuck on my own, I got back to your video again and played back the minute or the seconds that I needed. Great educational tool for those of us who wish to get even more out of MSFS2020. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the kind words. SDK seems complicated because it is a different process for you. In no time at all, you will navigate it like a pro. Good luck, and keep building.
You Sir are amazing for still writing me after I deleted the messages. Ive been trying to add parking spots to my hometown airport which is already a pay ware and on top of that I added some things around like ramp crew, airport vehicles and a few static airplanes. I deleted my messages because i was able to figure out the error as soon as I posted the questions, I somehow deleted the airport tab when deleting some unwanted scenery so I simply re created the airport under the scenery editor tab, typed in the name, some info and it worked for about two spots. Then the error comes back again as in the airport tab in red under scenery editor and all the parking ive added are in yellow showing warning. As im typing this I also figured it out 😂. I need to give each parking a number because it will show duplicates and that will trigger the warning. I will continue to watch this video im posting in. Thank you so much for you time and dedication and for making this videos that are so helpful
I try to be responsive. A couple of things about parking spots. Warnings will not prevent you from building the package, but red errors will. Tying the parking locations to the taxiways is the way to get rid of the warnings. I am sure I cover that. If not, I can point to a video where I do cover, tying it all together. Generally, you can add general scenery-related objects to an airport with a standard scenery project. However, changing things under ATC control, like taxiways, gates, and GA parking ramps, requires an airport modification project. It will begin to make sense as you do it a few times.
@@patriotsix5880 thank you! 🫡 Will try messing with it soon. I just subscribed. I apologize, Ive been watching you for a while and I thought I had subscribed a while back.
Thanks for the great tutorials and the clear and concise directions. I am working on Skyranch (TN98) near Knoxville for my first starter project while following along your tutorials. I have a friend that flies out of there in real life. I had an issue with editing my starting spots today, they didn't translate to the entire length. Also would like to see a tutorial on how to adjust the mesh around the airport so shorelines and elevation can be a little more accurate.
Thanks for watching, Somewhere. I can help you understand the start location moves. I am working on a new series called Quick Reference Guides. The guides will walk through everything needed to overwrite an existing airport. "1-A MSFS 2020 SDK QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE - Overwriting an Existing Airport - Create a Scenery Folder" was uploaded last week, and I am uploading 1-B as I type. Your timing is fortuitous because 1-B is about replacing runways and moving start locations. It should be uploaded, and UA-cam checks completed in about 9 hours. Probably sooner, but I have been working on this video for 16 hours, and it is 4:43 AM here in Nashville. 😃 I might need a few hours of rest while the video is uploading. The quick reference guides are shorter and cover fewer subjects but at a faster pace. I am in the process of offering an option besides videos for those who learn differently, and I plan to announce something this week. Good luck, brother. If you are subscribed, check your notifications late tomorrow afternoon. Thank care P6
Oh, I forgot about the mesh. Please give me an exact location to look at. I would like to see what you want to do. Please give me as much detail as you can. It is easy to overlook a step when you are following a tutorial. Once you get it, you are good to go but like everything else, repetition improves your skills. Thanks for watching.
Hi Patriot Six excellent videos loving it. Just I have a concern about how to send a text label using SimConnect library, I want to show it on MSFS screen using either c++ or c#. Do you have an idea to do it so?
Can you do a video on fixing jetways? Example is KMDT. Default positions and markings are off. Planes spawn at odd angles at the gates and current jetways don’t work correctly. Great video!
Right now for me, i would like to learn "How to Remove" objects from an existing airport. My Home airport for example KHMT has objects where they don't belong like, taxi lights, runway signs, etc. I would like to remove them to make the airport correct.
At 16:21 of this video, I go to the delete command. This is the section where you decide what you want to delete and what you want to keep with the airport you are editing. I hope that helps.
Thank you very much for your materials. I learned a lot from you, which allowed me to take my first steps in "improving" the MSFS scenery. However, I have one problem that I don't know if it is possible to solve. Well, I would like to add new sections of roads and highways to the scenery, which are not visible in the default scenery. Is this possible in MSFS (with SDK) ???
I have successfully cleaned up roads using a polygon with asphalt as the material. It is slow and tedious, but it works. The most challenging part is matching the colors. To match colors, I take a screenshot, look at the screenshot in MS Paint, and sample the road color. Once sampled, you can use the RGB parameters in the properties of the added material. I hope that helps.
@@tombulva I don't have a video. It never occurred to me to make a video building a road. If you are uncomfortable trying, email me at patriotsix9677@gmail.com and send images of what you want and where. GPS coordinates will help me find the location. I will make the road and send you screenshots of how I do it.
Thanks for the tutorial. Taxiways and custom parking are important for airports I modify (some lack parking altogether in the sim, such as small arctic aerodromes) so even a simple tutorial on doing those would be great. I think I know how to do it now, but the only way I know is to completely delete all taxiways to customize any parking at all. Don't know if you know of a better way of doing this.
You are right on in what you are doing. That is the only way to modify taxiways because taxiways and parking are embedded within the airport package. So, you are doing it right. You have to modify the airport and delete and rebuild. Also, I am sure you noticed that most if not all of the default ramps are not properly located or named. I plan to do more with this video and edit taxiways but I have to find the time. A video is at least a twelve-hour project for me. I know that sounds nuts but I am particular about the finished product and even though I am not the most eloquent of speakers, I do want the best quality out there for folks to see and learn from. lots of editing and zooming and all that stuff. This appears to be exactly what I am seeking...Modifying existing airport. MSFS left my local Regional airport completely devoid of buildings as well as a non-existant, X'ed out runway.
Good deal. It is a common theme. I cover a lot of topics in other videos. You can cover the non-existent runway with a ground texture and it will take priority over the runway. I can't remember if I used ground textures in the video or not. Here are a couple of tips. once you select a ground texture that suits the location, you can modify the color of the ground. Also, you can get rid of the tiled look of the texture and it will appear more natural. I cover the ground texture in this video ua-cam.com/video/o-s_DXuvr9E/v-deo.html you can expand the description of the video and go directly to the chapter on ground textures at 28:48 Applying the Ground Mesh Good luck. Let me know if you need anything.
Really nice video. I just purchased KBHM from the marketplace and of all things, the approach lighting for runways 6 and 24 are missing. Can I add those using SDK?
Between the runways, there’s a section of taxiway (A) with all the correct markings, but it’s grass. I’m going to try to replace the material only, leaving the taxi details alone. I assume there’s a way to view the other taxiway details, to match what is used elsewhere…? Wish me luck. LOL
@@tangocharlie9291 TC, here is my view with a caveat or two. As far as I know, if you want authenticity, you have to change all of the taxiways and link them all up for their system to work. That is by editing the airport which is what I covered in the video. That is a complex task and will take time. The first caveat is that if all you want to do is change the material type, Yes you can do that with a small scenery addition and use a polygon. I can provide a video if you need it. However, the material may cover up all of the markings and you end up with a simple asphalt patch. You cannot add taxiways in a scenery project. The taxiweay must be associated with an airport. So, that is where editing the airport comes into play. You have to decide which bugs you the most, the grass mistake or a mall section of the taxiway without the hold shorts and center line. I wish there was an easy button but there is not that I am aware of. Because of the complexity, I overlooked the grass for the longest time. In fact, this package that I built here I have never put the package into use. I made this for the tutorial. I still have grass as we speak. Because I moved from GA to airliners I do not fly out of Smyrna like I did the first couple of years. I fly out of BNA now so out of sight, out of mind. Good luck, brother. By the way, you may not like how I set up KMQY in the video but you are welcome to the work. I will gladly give it to you and save you a lot of time. If I was recreating the airport down to the nuts and bolts, I would have added more parking locations to match the real airport...probably. Who knows. This was simply to show people how to do it. I am fairly certain I stuck with the taxiways exactly but with a few small additions. Either way, they do link up with ATC correctly and the grass is gone.
I may come back to you for that package, but I’m going to try to add a few buildings, the tractor-trailers, etc. I’m sure I have NO idea as to what I’m getting myself into!! 🤣
Excellent presentation. I see lots of exclusions and adding of objects. What is the best way to move a four-light papi from the middle of a taxiway to where it belongs? Thanks.
You can try to use an exclusion rectangle but it may not work. Not a polygon but an exclusion rectangle. Most likely you will end up redoing the runway to make it right. Good luck, friend.
Is there a video in where is adding explained of existing scenery, and how to redo the so called AFCAD/ADE for AI traffic I have several payware airports in where my AI-traffic don't take off or simply stop taxi at a certain point. Thanks in advantage
Thanks for watching. I am unaware of a video or a way to change AI traffic. A payware is being built called Beyond ATC. The mod looks very promising in bringing a more true-to-life ATC; in addition, Beyond ATC is building its own AI Traffic model. If you see the videos, you can see how labor-intensive it is to make the AI traffic behave. I will link the video below. An excellent alternative to the Asobo AI traffic is FSLTL Traffic. FSLTL is free. What you get with FSLTL is the correct liveries at the airport in real life. For example, you will not see a Qantas livery at an airport Qantas does not fly. The AI traffic behavior is managed in the sim programming and not a part of SDK. So, we have no control. Check out these products below. It will improve your experience. Free FSLTL fslivetrafficliveries.com Beyond ATC ua-cam.com/video/w_Z9Gq6Gx80/v-deo.html Good luck.
Question: Would you know if there is a way to open an older airport that has the old file structure? It doesn't seem to load the buildings. Thx. And thx for the tutorials!
You can if you have the entire scenery folder. If all you have is a package, then no. If you have the complete scenery folder, load it in the editor. I made a video about this. I made them before the changes in SU-12, but the processes still work. ua-cam.com/video/sdx9ll_Z9WE/v-deo.html
Hello Patriot, another question for you: I just bought an airport scenery (LEIB) from Inibuilds and I am amazed they got so high ratings. I let the AI run for a few minutes and discovered so many errors with taxiways. Is this something I could change myself?
I am unsure. You can make changes by overwriting the airport with your own package with standard Asobo airports. I have never tried to make corrections to payware, and I am unsure of the outcome. You can undoubtedly add objects to payware with your scenery package, but I need clarification on edits. What changes do you want to make? Taxi signs?
@@patriotsix5880Hello, thanks for your reply. No, the taxiways and the way the AI planes move are a mess. No correct exits from the runway, taxiways going through GA area which 737s use. Planes taxiing ont he runway to get from pojint A to B although taxiways are availabe. So I assume they did not take good care of these taxiways and whether they are all connected nicely.
@@MotoFuzziIt sounds like you have a mess on your hands. We are all different, but my weakness is hand-crafted airports. If I find a good one on the marketplace or SimMarket, I can't resist. Yes, I create scenery, but I need to gain the 3D skills to recreate a large airport. If a suitable version is available for purchase, I would not hesitate to purchase it. I usually will add a few things here and there on my own, but recreating a large airport takes a lot of time unless somebody is a 3D wizard. I had a friend rebuild KMIA, which took him three or four months just for the buildings. You can buy it for about $20. $20 means less to me than months spent on building the airport. However, that is a decision you have to make for yourself. Not all airports are on the marketplace. Also, some creators are better than others. There are great creators out there, like FlyTampa out there. What airport are you working on?
@@MotoFuzzi I forgot you had a bad experience with a purchased airport. Liek I said, some are better than others. I really Like Flytampa's work and Dominicdesignteam. I have a few by Inbuilds. KDTW is one and to me it looks great. It has active passengers and a couple of trams. However, the taxi signs might be bad. I do not pay a lot of attention to taxi signs personally but as I said, we are all different.
@@patriotsix5880Hello Patriot, I am not sure what you mean when you talk about taxi signs. Do you mean the actual taxi signs? For me personally, they are not so important. Important for me is that the taxiways are all connected correctly and that AI traffic can flow naturally. What I noticed with the IniBuilds scenery is, that the scenery buildings and stuff are nice but another important factor for me is how the AI traffic flows. And if there are connections missing, and planes take the runway instead of taxiways to get from point A to B, then they certainly did not a good job. Since you have showed in your videos on how to lay taxiways and connect the nodes, I thought you might know. I don't want to lay new taxiways or buildings, I just want to correct the errors of missing nodes or whatever you call these points where taxiwaxs connect and AI can use to taxi to and from runways and the terminal building.
Hello Steef, Great videos. I started to recreate te old Army airport EHSB in the Netherlands. Is it possible to create a working ATC on this airport? Thanks
@@ronstuveling That is what I thought. I have not been successful with that myself. I even went into the XML and edited the script. This is speculation on my part but what I think is going on. I think the Comm information is within the server. You can build a package to edit Comm that already exists but you can't seem to add new comm information and it is recognized by ATC. Speculation but it seems logical.

Hey Brother, I'm just getting started on modifying my home airport KOLV as my first project and boy do I have a lot of questions. I've watched lots of your videos and they have taught me a lot about how do do most things. Thanks for all your great tutorials. So, if I delete the runway will it also delete the ILS for that runway or just the scenery? I want to hand place the runway edge lighting, change the PAPI lights to VASI and add the MALSR lights to RWY 18. If I replace the runway scenery will it remove all of these objects? I've already done taxiway lights, signs and added some buildings and gave them lights.
Hello Jeff, Thanks for watching. The short answer is no; it will not delete the ILS. However, when the airport or runway is ticked on the Scenery Editor, in the properties, you will see "Deletions" Take a look at the delete options. ILS is a separate category. I have started a new series which are shorter tutorials up to date and single subjects for each video. The first one went up last week, "1-A MSFS 2020 SDK QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE - Overwriting an Existing Airport - Create a Scenery Folder" The follow-up video title will start with "1-B" and is uploading right now and should be available in about nine hours. 1-B is replacing the runways. There is. I made part two of this video here where I redo the taxiways and parking locations and link them all up to work with ATC. I also added taxiway lighting. Hello from Perú. I've been watching a few videos but I was wondering if by any chance you made a tutorial about editing Jetways. I have a scenery SPZO that is missing a couple of jetways and I wish to add them, also, it has an object (static aircraft) that I want to remove. May you please point to that video?, I appreciate you time and help, thank you in advance. Have a good one.
Greetings Reru. I do not have a video adding jetways. I plan to make a video, but I have been taking a break from making videos. Adding jetways is done by adding a parking space and, under parking space type, selecting jetway. That is what I know, and I have yet to learn all of the quirks and nuances of adding a jetway. To remove static aircraft in the objects menu, select Exclusion Rectangle. You can size the rectangle to meet your needs if you like. The rectangle has eight movable axis to allow you to size. An axis at each corner and a point in the middle of each side. The rectangle will remove all objects, or you can tick on the "remove all objects" button, expand the selections, and pick the object type you want to remove. You want to be selective so you do not remove objects you want to keep, so changing the size is essential. You can use as many rectangles as possible to remove everything you want. I hope that helps. I may get back to making videos after a rest.

I’m looking to do this, but in Canada, the problem is, that runway markings are striped in Canada. It is not a solid white. It is a bunch of thin lines. So is there a way to change the material of the markings?
It is a good question and I do not know the answer without delving into the build. How are the runways marked in standard Asobo airports? If they are correct to Canadian standards the ability is in the SDK, probably in the options for the taxiway. I recall there are painted line options but I do not remember each option available. Good luck. If I need to hop in and look, I can, but as you know, that is a fairly long process to get to taxiways. I deleted the work I did in the video because it was for the tutorial only.

Could you show how we can update default airport in terms of afcad files? IN the past (FSX) there was a lot of afad files (I believe it was their name, essentially .bgl or .afcad file not sure). What these small files did was really impoortant to ensure real life runway operation. When I install this afcad files for specific airport I could choose all runways for deprature no matter the wind. Also I could ask for different runway when ATC gave me "bad one". Unfortunately it happens a lot with crappy default MSFS ATC. For example LKPR (Prague) has 2 runways but 12/30 is used only when the 06/24 is being repaired/cleaned etc. If there is wind for example 100° it gives me RWY 12 which is 90% time closed and in real life they are going to use 06. Also CYYZ (Toronto) a lof ot times there is wind favouring runways 15/33 but in real life they are using the 05/23 or runways 06/24, but default atc very often gives the 15/33 although the wind is for example variable or very weak like 3 knots. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for watching, friend. I never used FSX so I had to do my own research to understand how it works. By the way, if you do not have it, FlyTampa made a beautiful payware mod of YYZ for MSFS. Anyway, I am curious about your flying. I was going to ask how you build your flight plans but then I thought, maybe you are flying VFR. Can you give me a little more information? Are you flying VFR or with a flight plan. If you fly with a plan, how do you create the plan?
@@Izmael1310 Same here. I usually allow Simbrief to choose the departure and arrival runways. I also use Metar lookup a mid which gives me the destination ATIS. I check the status of my destination about 100 NM before TOD. I have been successful in changing the destination runway in the FMC but getting ATC to change is a challenge. I started using Beyond ATC this week and I am still learning the program. So, I understand your situation and I am in the same boat. Most of the time it works but it appears that Simbrief gives you a runway based on Metar information and not correct airport operations. I am getting familiar with Beyond ATC and I still have a lot to learn but it appears BATC will change your arrival based on current operations. As I said, I am still learning the program.
@@patriotsix5880 doing the same. I take a look at metar of the origin airport and destination. I take a look on flightradar 24 to see real life runway usage. I set runways in my simbrief accordingly. Problem is usually with the landing. For example NZAA airport (New Zealand) is really messed up. Atis said something like wind 110/4, ils landing runway 23L. Landing and departing runway 05R... In these scenarios I don't care and I land as it is appropriate according real life data. If the ATC wont give me the opposite runway I ask at least for an approach to the correct runway. Basically I confirm landing on 23 and ask for an approach to 05 vectors to final but I land on the 05 anyway. The ATC is so bad that I really don't care 😁
@@Izmael1310 I understand. I do what I want to do. There are no repercussions from a virtual ATC. If it is in your budget, I do recommend Beyond ATC. It is so much better than in-game ATC. And once they complete their own AI traffic model, (in the works) similar to FSLTL, it will be even better.
Yes. At this time with SDK, it is a complicated process. From what I hear from others it takes a lot of trial and error. I never attempted to build an ILS because making a video using "trial and error " would be hard for people to succeed. I will see if I can find time to do it myself and see if it is worth making a video. My goal is to give people steps that work first time every time. Thanks for watching.
I modified an airport and it worked! Now I want to modify my little village of Carambuche, Baja California Sur. Can I make a polygon and replace the village with an image from google earth?
You can if 3D photogrammetry is available at the location. You can test it by looking at Google Earth. Could you make sure you look carefully for the 3D? It can be tricky. I got as far as deleting the runways with the delete command, but unlike with yours the runways did not disappear when I ticked the box. Am I missing something. Also same with starts and taxiways.
Thanks for watching. I bet the sim runway and taxiways were removed and what you see is the satellite images and the base world map. Those will remain but you cover them up with your own runway. I am using flight simulator from version 98 after X I use lock martin and back as MSFS return. well I re install SDK and sample, create the copy of sample and copy the complete scenary that I want to edit to start over, this time I set the exclusion rectangle over the object and select remove object, then saved but in the inspector don't have builder button, so I build from project editor windows, but still when check the scenary cfg in the project file it only have 1K when original cfg is about 532k and no work.
I'm a noob here. In trying to edit my home airport, all the buildings have disappeared when I run in normal mode. Trees are there, no buildings anywhere on the airport grounds. Any idea how I can just restore the airport to it's original settings? Thanks!
You can remove the package from the Community Folder, and it will return to normal. Could you let me know what you placed in the community folder? Were you able to open the packages folder and place that folder into the CF, or did you put the entire scenery folder into the CF?
If there are no Helipads at my existing airfield do I still delete them like you did with the runways right at the begining? I added three helipads to EGPE but when I built the package and added to Community folder they didn't appear at EGPE. I have a paid for scenery already for EGPE, would that possibly be why its not working? Those are the only two things I can think of. I see my marketplace scenery in Packages/Offical/OneStore, would I need to edit it? Not sure how to proceed.
Thanks for watching. Technically there is no need to delete helipads if they do not exist at the airport, but honestly, it will not cause harm to tick delete. So, I would keep the delete ticked. You can edit payware airports in the official folder. For example, I recently deleted taxiways at a payware airport because the taxiways were not accurate. However, I was able to recreate the correct taxiways. As for why the helipads are not showing up for you, I am still thinking about it. There is something else going on. We may not solve the problem via UA-cam chat. You will find a link to an international Facebook Group I have in the video description. We need to use a forum where we can share images, ETC. Hi Patriot Six. I am a new scenery developer and I’m trying to make an add-on that I’ve modeled and blender, but I’m having some trouble getting the model to integrate with the taxiway surface. Can you make a video on taxiway bridges or can we sit down sometime one on one and work on this issue together? Thank you
Can you explain the issue you are having? Can you export from Blender fine? Do you need help with the model in SDK? This will help me assess the next step.
@@patriotsix5880 Thanks for the reply. So, the model is showing up in msfs fine, but I'm having an issue with the sdk and terrain when using scenery editor. I have collisions set on the surfaces. I can taxi aircraft when on the bridge, but getting on the bridge is an issue. When I taxi up to the edge of the bridge, the plane sinks through the ground, then collides with the edge of the model, making the a/c stuck... Trying to make a smooth, seamless transition onto the bridge. I've tried adding terraforming to push the ground up to the edge so it's perfectly aligned, same issue. I've also tried to add a rectangle with a surface profile around the bridge and that doesn't help either.
@@CTde110 I went through the same thing at the airport where I live. There is a taxi bridge over the freeway, and in the SIM, it is flat. As you cross the bridge, a car might go through you. I tried many times, and I had a new idea each time, but I was unsuccessful. Finally, Feelthere built the airport. Problem solved. Here is what I think now in hindsight. A larger area has to be modeled and worked into the landscape. I have noticed many payware airports the creator has developed the entire area. That is my thoughts now.
Hello. You cannot make a tree default for an area. There is a section on properties where you can change the vegetation Biom, but I doubt that will give you the result you desire. However, if coconut trees are in your scenery library, you can place the trees as individual objects the way you place any scenery object. As for making a ditch, you have to do that with terraforming. The explanation requires a more comprehensive method of communication. It is too much to effectively explain in UA-cam chat. It would take a form of communication where we can share images. I do have a video where I add palm trees. ua-cam.com/video/gIRKzZ2qW5A/v-deo.html This will help you with the tree additions. As for terraforming, you would have to join the group where I can share pictures with you. facebook.com/groups/788136852324508
Thanks for watching. I don't understand the question entirely. Are you asking about the location of parked AI traffic at Cincinnati International? If so, I would go get FSLTL AI traffic. It is more accurate than the standard Asobo AI traffic. fslivetrafficliveries.com/
Is there a way to extract 3D models so that we can fix the shapes? My plan is to extract a house. Use that as a reference but add more details and also fix the shape. The roof is wrong, the doors, windows are not where they are supposed to be. And they are missing a garage door.
There is a way to do it but it is not in my skill set. I have a friend that exports Google Maps into Blender and then fixes buildings. He explained it to me but since I do not do it, the explanation was all gibberish to me. You can also use the Earth2MSFS tool if 3D photogrammetry is available in the location but you will not like the resolution close-up. It's made to view at a distance.

Hmmm. I am not sure why that is happening. I was able to add my default name. It seems the default name only gets injected into the project if you build a new project starting with Project Editor. I only use the Project Editor to build projects when I am building or editing an airport. Most of the work I do is with a manually modified scenery folder [simplescenery] and I always have to enter the company name in the Inspector because of how the XMLs are built in SimpleScenery. It is just a personal preference. That is how I learned to build scenery and I have stuck with what works. But either option is fine. Whatever works for you and is most comfortable. Even as a Pat's fan, I would still make you a Bill's livery if I could. I do not make liveries. I go to flightsim.to and find a livery creator. I typically pay them $50 but you may be able to negotiate. The last person I used goes by ahsaul. The best way to find somebody is to look at Longitude liveries and start tagging folks. It might take a while to find a willing person. Some won't do one-offs and some will. I would start with ahsaul and go from there. Good luck.
I was trying to put a runway into a location with no actual buildings or runway surface in Algeria DRZI .. It was perched on raised strip of land ...After I saved the scenery and reloaded the sim I noticed that whole area had been flattened. But when I wanted to add something to the project I built the package and the raised area came back ruining everything. I can reload the sim and use what I saved earlier but I enjoyed flying into the elevated strip before I started the project. Must be something to do with elevation or the bit of scenery I am building on .
I will run a test myself, but what if you enter the area's correct elevation (accurate in real life or what you want it to be) at the beginning of the airport package build? I am trying to remember, but the elevation you set at the start may differ from what you want for the end result. Please let me know if that needs clarification or if I need help understanding the question, please let me know.
@@patriotsix5880 hi. I thought of raising the elevation because the elevation isn't correct. I think the raised Hill the runway is on isn't being taken into account in the Sdk. But if I remember I wasn't able to change it before I built the package. So I went with the 800m above SL it gave me.
But once the package is built the whole area gets flattened. One thing I'm unsure of if you want to go back and edit the project should you leave the package in the community folder or remove it.
@@jonathanlambert7004 Hello Jonathan. I will address both questions in this one post. First, I visited Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to build an airport. I chose this location because the mountain is long and narrow, with a significant and distinct falloff on the East face. I used the GPS coordinates for the area and the website www.dcode.fr/earth-elevation for the elevation. The airport is 636 meters AMSL. I was able to successfully place the runway without changing the geology of the site. However, the SDK will flatten the runway itself. Nevertheless, it worked, and the mountain retained its characteristics. Regarding the package in the community folder, some will leave the package in the community folder while making edits to the same package. Therefore, leaving the project in the community folder is not a best practice. If you only add items, you can go with the package in the community folder. However, if you delete or reorientate objects, then the trouble begins. For example, with the scenery loaded in twice, you will have duplicates of each object. If you remove an object, the item will appear to remain because it is loaded in the scenery twice. The same goes for changing the orientation of an object. You may only want to add objects, but your preferences can change. The straightforward method is always to remove the package from the community folder so you have a clear view of any changes. Thanks for watching, and I hope this advice helps.

Hello. I have not added or modified an ILS. From what I have seen from others, adding an ILS is quirky and unreliable. So, I am avoideding the subject until SDK improves to the point it is more intuitive. Sorry, friend.
a rather laborious process, if before we do not decompile afcad of the edited airport and open it as a project, because we will have to create all the runways again and center them, and only then change their parameters...
It's all laborious but making a video it much harder. 😃 Perhaps because I am anal and have a background in music production. I sweat the small shit. LOL

Unfortunately, there is more bad out there than great.
Thanks for watching. Could you clarify for me because there are a couple ways to do it? Are you saying when you start a project and change the names in the inspector, it does not work? If so, you may enter a name and then tabbing to move. I have learned you can't tab. What I do is change the name and then click on another location. I may add the project name and then tick creator instead of tabbing. That is normal. The system has to load in scenery and the AI has to do its thing. Normally everything is loaded in by the time the scenery editor populates.

Just as a heads-up, now you must download the SDK core first, then samples in the drop-down separately
You are correct.
Only halfway through your video and I hope you fixed the grass texture on taxiway Alpha. 😂
Yea I rebuilt all of them. It's a PITA to do. LOL
The taxiways may be in part two. I do not see the timestamp here in part one so it is probably in part two.

Is there a video in where is adding explained of existing scenery, and how to redo the so called AFCAD/ADE for AI traffic
I have several payware airports in where my AI-traffic don't take off or simply stop taxi at a certain point.

Hello from Perú. I've been watching a few videos but I was wondering if by any chance you made a tutorial about editing Jetways.

Can we add also ILS approaches? Will the FMC detect it?

I have a Problem with the Project Editor. The Tab with Default Creator Name is red and i cant write my Name inside. Thanks for the fantastic Video!
I wish I knew the answer but I do not. I would have to see you work to spot any deviations. It is impossible to do through UA-cam chat. Thanks for watching though. If you want to reach to me personally you can find me at facebook.com/groups/788136852324508
@@patriotsix5880 Finally I've found the Solution.
I wrote my Name in Red, then i've clicked on the red Default creator Name.
Thank you Sir for your help!

@@patriotsix5880 Thank you for inviting me
@@Artendo100 That is great. Maybe I had to do the same. It's been a while and I do not recall. Glad you worked it all out.
Hey can you make me a Buffalo Bills livery with a citation longitude.
Thanks for watching, and I hope this advice helps.
hi, I try to modify ils in a free airport. To do that, I create a new runway and remain other things the same. However, when I output my project and install in MSFS, there is only my runway exist and the other things are disappear? Could you tell me how can I deal with that? thank you very much
other things such as taxiway and so on
Hello. I have not added or modified an ILS. From what I have seen from others, adding an ILS is quirky and unreliable. So, I am avoideding the subject until SDK improves to the point it is more intuitive. Sorry, friend.
@@alonsojin6318 You can find taxiways and more in the sequel video. ua-cam.com/video/7010EirtEQc/v-deo.html
a rather laborious process, if before we do not decompile afcad of the edited airport and open it as a project, because we will have to create all the runways again and center them, and only then change their parameters...
It's all laborious but making a video it much harder. 😃 Perhaps because I am anal and have a background in music production. I sweat the small shit. LOL
@@patriotsix5880 any way, example with decompilation of a third-party afcad and subsequent change will be very useful;)
@@radeon29 I researched decompilation. It seems to be an issue folks are still struggling to achieve. Apparently, this was doable in other sims? I never had xplane or any of the other sims. I dropped out of FS in the early 90s and came back a couple of years ago so I have zero experience with the other sims.
@@patriotsix5880 there are tools for decompiling msfs .bgl for a long time, but with my tests they work about 70% out of 100%, they need to be improved
@@radeon29 There are so many tools out there. I have found many to be obsolete by the time I find the tool and the tutorials behind the SDK in therms of updates. It seems the creators have access to things I do not have access to although in MSFS only a handful do a good job IMO. I find FlyTamps to be on the mark in all the areas I have observed. Unfortunately, there is more bad out there than great.
It will not let me add a creator name and company name. Can you show how to do this as I'm sure I'm not doing something right. Thanks
If you are talking about adding a creator name that is the default, you can do that by starting a project with the wizard and adding a company name and creator name.
@@patriotsix5880This is when I first start out creating a name and company from the beginning. Can't get it to work so not changing the name. No matter how I enter it. Before the project or afterwards when saving it will not accept it. I type studmaverick aviation for creator name and soon as I tab out or clicked out of it goes away and it still shows red letters stating create name and company. Does the same if I try to create a company name. I'm going to try it again as I'm sure I clicked out of it but to make sure going to do it your way. Also, by the way, I graduated from Smyrna High School, of course that was 1982 but still have family there. thanks
@@patriotsix5880 I got the creator name created by clicking out of it and not tabbing but the company name will not go no matter how I try to get out of it.
@@patriotsix5880 I got it. You have to hit enter after filling in everything. would have been nice if they made that clear. thanks again

Thanks a lot for your work, can you tell me how i can change OACI name of an existing airport when this code is not the real one ?
I think there is a workaround but tell me about this airport. Is it a controlled airport or unmanned?
@@patriotsix5880 not controled airport, it is a bushstrip LF26 in MSFS real OACI is LF6321 and real name is Saint-Priest Des Champs, i rebuilt this airport with hangars, runways and so on but real OACI is still not OK, thanks for answer, now i try build an helipad on a roof with your tuto 21, thanks a lot again for that
@@michelvp6314 That should be fairly easy then. I will take a look at it in the next few days. The only question I have not is will the ACIO code will allow that many digits.
@@patriotsix5880 You are right, only 5 digits so F6321 for this exemple, i think also real name is important, thanks.
@@michelvp6314 I gave it my best shot. I edited and renamed the airport but no matter what I do, the old name still appears on the map. I have nothing to lose so I tried to find the airport in the sim but failed. I was going to attempt to edit the airport XML files. I suspect the data is on the servers and loads in on demand. Sorry. Everything seemed to go well until I selected the airport on the FS map.
Any help please: Any time I hit the load in editor the base im doing goes to this 2d image and tha ground changes to how it is on google map showing the planes on the ramp but flat on the surface .
That is normal. The system has to load in scenery and the AI has to do its thing. Normally everything is loaded in by the time the scenery editor populates. Sometimes you will get a short offline warning. That is also normal. If the scenery never loads in, we may need to talk about your PC, particularly the installed RAM. Good luck and thanks for watching.
@@patriotsix5880 ive waited and still everytime I hit load in editor it still shows tha flat imagery
@@akahecool have you given the system long enough for the scenery editor to populate with your library objects? Typically when you can see the library objects, the rest of the scenery is loaded. This can take a few minutes depending upon your PC and Internet speed. If everything is working like I said and you still see flat scenery I am curios about your system. You don't need the best of the best to do this but in Developer Mode, more resources are getting used. I have 128 GB of RAM. Many work fine with 32 GB. Also, do you have a large amount of scenery and other things in the Community Folder?
@@patriotsix5880 Yes I have 38 iteams in my Community folders .
@@akahecool Well, it is not normal and my hunch is that it is something with your PC. I would limit what is in the community folder (everything you can do without while building) and see if the scenery loads. The way I understand the situation is that the MSFS AI does not generate standard scenery as in buildings and trees. in developer mode. The question is, where is the bottleneck?
Please do taxiways!

Hello, I have an apron at a MSFS/ Asobo standard airport, where I want to add only a few yellow taxilanes- what would be the best way to do that? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I am thinking about how this can be done easily. A known fix is but it is convoluted and requires redoing all taxiways. I found a free mod on Flightsdim.to.
