Every time I replayed the Sinnoh games, no matter how much I try to change up my team composition, I would always catch Shinx every single time. Luxray is easily my favorite Pokémon in Gen 4, and I will never not use it.
I feel the EXACT same way towards Spiritomb. So for me, its not as easy to catch but my love for the 108 spirits he has is too great. I HAVE to use him.
Same here Shinx is just adorable and Luxray is just an awesome badass! In the remake I even caught one right away and replaced him with my starter. He is my starter now and only pokemon I never swap out!
You forgot to mention Bronzong also has heat proof which makes you have to guess whether or not it will be weak to Fire or Ground. It screwed me over plenty of times in the battle tower back in the day
The smart thing to do there is err on the side of caution and assume it's got Levitate, unless there are telltale signs of the Heatproof ability, like an abundance of other Fire-weak team members. If you go for a Ground move and your wrong, you completely wasted a turn, but if you use a Fire attack the worst case scenario is that you hit it for neutral damage. Other players also know this, which in turn leads to the Levitate variant being more common anyway. This can vary depending on the current meta or the team, because sometimes it's just that much more important for Bronzong to be able to handle Fire Pokemon, but it's typically the right call.
@@lukesk11135 Fun fact, I remember hearing that every in-game Bronzong in Sinnoh, at least in Gen 4, had Levitate. I *think* that's true? Not sure if this is still true in BDSP.
Rhyperior is my favorite gen 4 pokemon He's a monster when it comes to taking hits (mainly physical unless you have the solid rock ability) and can hit like a truck. I loved rhyhorn but was never a fan of rhydon but when I saw rhyperior I knew I need him on my first playthrough of platinum and he has remained my favorite since then
Pokemon is one of those special franchises that has continued to hold my interest since childhood. I don't think I'll ever stop being at least a casual fan. Cubone for life baby!!!
Yanmega is without a doubt my favorite Sinnoh Pokemon, dragonflies are alreadly awesome, combine it with a military helicopter and you get one badass bug even though its not Dragon-type (Although Tinted Lens + Draco Meteor may have been way too good on a era without Fairy-types)
not to mention it has the ability to GET FASTER if I'm not mistaken, its speed keeps going up and up and up, the thing is like a helicopter and yet a sonic speed missile. That thing is crazy.
I agree with you when you say that you are a Gen 1 fan but Gen 4 change your life and felt more mature! I'm a Gen 1 fan as well and I was there when Pokemon have started to be on TV, and it changed my life, as by that time I already started to ask non-stop my mom to help me buy Pokemon Cards, and since that time, I owned every movies, and had every episodes, and got even a big big collection by now of Pokemon cards, but at the moment I decided to play again to pokemon video games, I decided to play with the Gen 4 for the same reasons as yours instead of choosing Gen 2 or 3 at that time!
You hit the nail on the head with Gliscor and Torterra. Two of the best in the whole series. I've also gotta shout out my boy Rotom. His Electric/Ice refrigerator form gives me fond memories of Kirby 64.
My favorite sinnoh Pokémon is weavile. It’s fast and hits hell hard. I also really like a dark type Pokemon and my favorite Pokémon villain Cyrus uses one too
I'm glad we agree that Piplup is the best Sinnoh Pokémon. Just for fun and because I can't name my top 10 in Sinnoh, I'll say my favorite from every region. Kanto - Eevee, my favorite Pokémon Johto - Steelix Hoenn - Mawile or Shedinja Sinnoh - Piplup, obviously. Penguins are my second-favorite animal, and Steel is my favorite type. Unova - Escavalier Kalos - Espurr Alola - Togedemaru Galar - Falinks As a bonus, Hisui is Overqwil and gen 9 so far is Sprigatito.
In my honest opinion, if a pokemons design doesn't look cool or cute, it's not a 'top'/'best' pokemon. Not to offend anyone. Sinnoh has the coolest tho
What I love about gen 4 Bronzong is that until gen 6 which made it significantly easier to take out with ghost and dark types, the weakness of the big bronze bell was the players choice with either levitate for an immunity to ground or taking neutral damage from fire with heatproof. It was a very interesting concept which made it even MORE of a nightmare to take out having to play a gambling game to delete it with relative ease all the while it uses confuse ray and hypnosis to halt things in its way or take you out with a gyro ball hitting like the literal liberty bell smacking you across the face, not to mention flinching with extrasensory if combined with trick room.
Hearing all the music tracks throughout this video got me so emotional. The DP OST is one that I've gone back to over and over whenever I want to listen to video game music while working. The tracks really hit all my nostalgia buttons, especially Eterna Forest.
My favorite Pokemon from Sinnoh; it's hard to decide since DPPt was my introduction to the main series games so there are a lot of faves. But I think for me, not counting the starters, it's a toss-up between Leafeon and Roserade. Their designs are aesthetically so appealing even if they are not the strongest among the bunch. I credit them for their grace, their STAB moves, and for making Grass my favorite Pokemon type.
Have to say Frosslass and Gliscor are amongst my favorite Sinnoh region Pokemon, both in terms of designs, typing and play styles. Will admit that the anime really helped me like Gliscor more, just the original sprite art for Gliscor wasn't that good, but transitioned well to 3D I think. Frosslass was nice as it like other Gen 4 ghosts was finally a start to dual-typing for ghost pokemon, outside of the original 3 in Gen 1 and Sableye in Gen 3.
I’m rewatching the Platinum series you did on Beard Bros and this is a great special feature to add to the enjoyment of that series! Thanks Jirard and the TOVG Team!
These kinds of "Top 10 Pokemon" videos bring me back to the early 2010s era of UA-cam. It seems like these videos rarely get made anymore. Thanks for bringing it back!
Im a huge fan of Electivire. I was a Electabuzz fan but always wanted it to get a new evolution. Once it did and it looked like a Zap Yeti it was easily on my team
Gen 4 is what brought me back to Pokemon since gold and silver. I loved playing Pokemon Platinum and loved a lot of the Pokemon designs and love the creation trio, especially Giratina and it's distortion world! Some of my favorites are lucario, drapion, luxray, and garchomp!!!
I had my fingers crossed that Torterra would take number 1 but I’m just glad to see him recognized, especially so high. Torterra has always been my favourite Pokémon since I first played Pokémon games when I was 4 and with how often Torterra goes unrecognized makes being a huge fan of him tough.
Favorite Pokémon from Sinnoh (and in general) is the Turtwig line. It's Grass/Ground, gets Earthquake after fully evolving, it looks cool and cute, and it's based of a WARUDO TURTLE. The Turtboi just clicks for me.
I think Piloswine is cute... it looks like a hound dog or a lop eared bunny crossed with a mop. I love your Pokemon nicknames btw. I'm happy you like Hippowdon, I only really came to appreciate it in my Pokemon Black and White games. But now I always view it with fondness.
I learned the power of Hippowdon in PLA when I caught a shiny one and trained him up on a whim. And he ended up being that perfect mix of defensive bulk and offensive power to get in the final hit on the superboss. Knowing Crunch was a great advantage. I named him Murph, after a character from the Ranger series who said Hippowdon is his favorite pokémon.
Glad to see my boy torterra made it on here. I adore him and I love his design. He's easily my most favorite grass type design of all time. It also helps that I think turtwig is adorable
Gen 4 has some of the strongest designs and an incredible set of Pokemon to choose from. Togekiss is definitely up there as one of my all time favourites...and Torterra...and --
i always thought it was really interesting to see torterra in the movie and then i had a realization.........people battle with those and just have them in their pocket, like okay that is completely normal, my island size pokemon ready to fight your ratata
It is awesome that you loved gen 1 and felt close to gen 4. While I was around on Pokémon gen 1, but really loved gen 3. Sure I liked gen 4, but it had something that was lacking for me…
same i lost interest when gen 4 and 5 released back in the day however ive returned to them recently and have been surprised by gen 5 and i think one of the big flaws for gen 4 is the lack of pokemon for a few types it get more notable once you get to the steel gym and all you fight are a whole bunch of onix and steelix a scorupi and an azumarill
Wow, I'm surprised none of my favorites were on the list! Well, Lopunny was an honorable mention but still. Some of my favorites from Sinnoh are Lickilicky, Cresselia, Roserade, Dusknoir, Lopunny, and Mime Jr. I think I will always be a pokemon fan no matter what happens.
Luxray is my number 1 across all gens! Lucario is a close second. My recent run in Shining Pearl has given me a new appreciation for Mismagius. I love it!
My favorite Pokémon in Sinnoh is Gallade. When I first played Platinum, I got a shiny Ralts out of pure luck, and I've grown to love the effectiveness of its Fighting/Psychic typing. Only downside to him is that there's not really any physical Psychic moves he can learn besides Psycho Cut.
Skuntank. Yes, the skunk pokemon. As someone who lives in skunk territory it tickles me that Game Freak took notice of such a creature and made a version of their own.
This was a really solid list and had quite a few of my favorites too. Lucario is my favorite Pokemon. I fell in love with its design immediately. Luxray is easily one of my favorite Electric types, I forgot how much I like Infernape, Torterra is one of my favorite Grass starters and Garchomp is such a cool beast. The new evolutions for older Pokemon was one of my favorite aspects of gen four too. Electivire and Dusknoir are some of my favorites of the new evolutions, but I am planning on raising a Mamoswine and Gallade in Shining Pearl to try them out.
Riolu and Lucario are not only my favourite Sinnoh Pokemon, but my favourite Pokemon in general. Lucario has such a varied moveset, that you can basically build him to take on any opponent you may face. Not only that, but I love his design, and the inspiration that is taken for it. Lucario is basically Anubis, and any Pokemon with a mythology inspired design or background is automatically one I like. And it works even better, because of how much I love Egyptian mythology and folklore
Electivire. It’s my go to Pokemon for most situations because of how versatile its moveset is. During my earlier days of Pokemon I would sweep through everyone with ease with my Electivire alone. Ice Punch, Thunder, Earthquake, Fire Punch, etc etc. Love it
This was the first generation I could use Steelix since I never had anyone to trade with and it’s wild in Gen 4. Always tried to make it work on my later playthroughs
Glad to see Gliscor getting some love - my all-time favourite Pokémon! Torterra is #2 for me, and Drapion, Garchomp and Mamoswine are all pretty high on my list as well, so overall this list made me very happy. 😄
Some of my favorites are Lucario (neat design with a versatile moveset and stat spread), Giratina (both forms, very unique typing and all around helpful mon), Luxray (neat design, though being a physical electric that learns few good physical electric moves holds it back from being too useful unfortunately) and Gastrodon (I prefer its East Sea design more, but this is one helpful little slug that's more versatile than might you think). EDIT: I also like Bronzor and Bronzong for their versatility and relative flexibility as well.
Agreed Lucario and Girantina are awesome. I saw the Lucario movie and my cousin had Pokemon that Girantina in it but it had a Japanese name. I later saw the movie and loved Girantina ever since.
Hard to say what my favourite gen 4 Pokémon is honestly. I love mamoswine, the shinx line, the chimchar line, dialga, giratina, gliscor and froslass. Also rotom. I love how they’ve used him in the future games.
Luxray and Staraptor are some of my favorite Pokemon from this generation. Glad to see some Drapion love! Used one on my team for most of my journey in Brilliant Diamond. Never used one before, but ended up loving it.
I was a high school freshman when the original diamond/pearl games released. A lot of people chose piplup & nicknamed it HappyFeet since that movie was relevant at the time
10:17 How did Houndour and Houndoom not make the list for fire types in Platinum!? With that out of the way another great video Jirard! Can't wait for the next!
Honestly Im gonna have to give my favorite Sinnoh Pokemon to Bronzong. Great mixed wall, awesome typing, solid moveset with trick with toxic orb and stealth rocks as well as coverage, all around epic pokemon
I always thought Lopunny was a dumb Playboy Bunny spoof, but I decided to try one this time with an ATK boosting nature and high SPD and found with the taught move Work Up, it sweeps! And it’s cute and fluffy and huggable, unusual sexuality be damned!
All these pokemon are great, but I really hoped you'd put Lucario at least in the honorable mentions, because it's my favorite pokemon just above Kommo-o and Infernape
Gen 4 has given me Lucario: my favorite Pokemon, as well as my favorite character in media all around, and both the gen and Lucario will always hold a special place in my heart.
It’s hard to choose, but I’d have to say luxray and floatzel are tied for my favorites. Both have been absolutely amazing for me, and in multiple cases, were my very last Pokémon alive while facing the craziest battles of my time. For those reasons, those two are my favorites. Plus, the designs are just awesome
good list. My top 10 sinnoh pokemon are 10. Skuntank, 9. Lucario, 8. Toxicroak, 7, Froslass, 6. Palkia, 5. infernape, 4. Luxray. 3. hippopotas 2. torterra 1. Gliscor (will always have on team when possible)
I' was never a big competitive Pokemon player, so my fav Gen 4 Pokemon is Munchlax. Snorlax is one of my favorite Pokemon of all time, so I love its cute pre-evolution!
I love gen 4 so much. Also ngl Staraptor probably my favourite gen 4 mon it's just so cool best bird by far! Also gotta love empoleon first ever starter for a pokemon game :)
Togekiss for me. The second gen remakes (Heart Gold/ Soul Silver) are my favorite in the series. During my first play of gen 4, I did not use it. Yet when I used one during the 2nd gen remake, I realized what a missed opportunity that was. It saved me many times with its versatility and power even before gen 5 turned it into a fairy/flying type.
Hearing that he called his Shinx Cleo brought back all kinds of PTSD from Team Four Star's Platinum Nuzlocke run 😅 Overall, fantastic list though. I'm currently playing Shining Pearl as my first experience of Gen 4, and I'm falling in love with all the Pokémon from this generation and kinda sad I didn't grow up with it.
As someone who just recently finished his first playthrough, the Garchomp section reaaaally struck true for me. A more deserving place on this list there is not. I got past most of the Elite 4 with minimal difficulties, even through most of Cynthia’s team with little trouble, but that Garchomp. It single handedly turned what was going to be a total stomp into a desperate struggle to regain the momentum and secure the win. Man that thing is *Scary.* It was faster than my teams fastest Pokémon with an extremely dangerous move set (after buffing with several X-items no less!). I quite literally won by virtue of outlasting it’s onslaught, rather than stomping her to pieces and man does that leave an impression. Personally speaking, I’ve kind of always enjoyed having a Lopunny in my team. It’s a surprisingly versatile Pokémon, able to learn a whole host of moves letting it easily fill almost any needed type coverage in your party, and there is just something hilarious about a giant rabbit casually punching deities in the face.
Every time I replayed the Sinnoh games, no matter how much I try to change up my team composition, I would always catch Shinx every single time. Luxray is easily my favorite Pokémon in Gen 4, and I will never not use it.
Shinx was my first ever shiny, I still have it as Luxray in my pokemon home, transferred all the way from the original Diamond.
Same! I even told myself "ok dont get a shinx this time". Then i saw that little electric boi on the battle screen and my heart melted.
i forced myself to finally use magnezone instead of luxray for the remakes.
It screwed me over plenty of times in the battle tower back in the day
That’s why you have Bite/Crunch. Nom noms to the rescue against Bronzong.
@@ajzekind Steel resisted dark and ghost back then. Bronzong just had a randomized weakness.
The smart thing to do there is err on the side of caution and assume it's got Levitate, unless there are telltale signs of the Heatproof ability, like an abundance of other Fire-weak team members. @@lukesk11135 True, but with the recent release, Houndoom/Rhydon are great pickups from Underground that counter all the Bronzong.
you hit the nail on the head with piplup being pure adorableness incarnate. And i love that torterra was on your list too.
Keeping Bubblebeam from Piplup until Empereon is hilarious. Watching a few cute bubbles nearly kill any Pokémon in the wild is a sight to behold
If youve seen the anime those bubbles are like bombs
Loved having Razorleaf from my Turtwig to the evolved Torterra. However, I could see razor leaf being deadly, if there were portrait-like in the show.
Bubble Beam being deadly in Pokemon Masters is pretty deadly in Sync Move form. 😏
kinda like Ash/Satoshi killing a machamp with Squirtle's Bubble in the first pokemon movie.
Rhyperior is my favorite gen 4 pokemon
He's a monster when it comes to taking hits (mainly physical unless you have the solid rock ability) and can hit like a truck.

Just for fun and because I can't name my top 10 in Sinnoh, I'll say my favorite from every region.
Kanto - Eevee, my favorite Pokémon
Johto - Steelix
Hoenn - Mawile or Shedinja
Sinnoh - Piplup, obviously. Penguins are my second-favorite animal, and Steel is my favorite type.
Unova - Escavalier
Kalos - Espurr
Alola - Togedemaru
Galar - Falinks
As a bonus, Hisui is Overqwil and gen 9 so far is Sprigatito.
Mismagius is very underrated. One of the best design ghost type Pokemon.

I was so confused hearing FFBE music during the video, but then you were sponsored by them! FFBE music is nothing to sleep on
Glaceon and Leafeon for sure. Aside from them I don't have an exact order. Riolu, Lucario, Piplup, Starly, Staraptor, Shinx, Luxio, Luxray.
My top 10 Sinnoh Pokemon
10. Luxray
9. Garchomp
8. Giratina
7. Torterra
6. Gliscor
5. Gallade
4. Roserade
3. Infernape

1. Lucario
Gliscor, electivire, garchomp, lucario, rypherior
So many cool designs in gen 4

Garchomp, my absolute favorite.

For the gen starters it's Infernape all the way.

Electivire. It’s my go to Pokemon for most situations because of how versatile its moveset is. During my earlier days of Pokemon I would sweep through everyone with ease with my Electivire alone. Ice Punch, Thunder, Earthquake, Fire Punch, etc etc. Love it

Hard to say what my favourite gen 4 Pokémon is honestly. I love mamoswine, the shinx line, the chimchar line, dialga, giratina, gliscor and froslass. Also rotom. I love how they’ve used him in the future games.
Lucario is my favorite pokemon period.
Knowing that Piplup is Jirard’s favorite from Sinnoh makes me happy!
Never used them before but Honchkrow Drapion and Roserade turned out to be some of my favourite Sinnoh Mons while playing Brilliant Diamond.
Thanks for showing Gen IV some love! I started with Gen I as well, but IV was just straight dynamite. Especially with the advent of using WFC
A lot of people chose piplup & nicknamed it HappyFeet since that movie was relevant at the time
Bronzong can also get heatproof as an ability as well so it gets an immunity to ground or fire
Well, neutral fire. It only halves the fire damage. Still noteworthy.
Toterra seems like the best Pokémon to sleep on its back on a sunny day
but what about solar beams?
gen 4 is amazing, definitely one of my favs with gen 7 and 8. yeah... don't hate on me.
How dare you not have a shitty and generic opinion. Impossible
@@guilhermefloresfeitosaguer4543 i know right ? i'm doing the impossible
I literally cheered when you revealed Piplup, I got so scared my favourite boi got left out after seeing the other two starter lines
Thanks for this.
Pokemon games kind of died for me when I learned about IV farming, but I can still appreciate their appeal.
10:17 How did Houndour and Houndoom not make the list for fire types in Platinum!? With that out of the way another great video Jirard! Can't wait for the next!
They’re not sinnoh Pokémon, they’re from Johto
@@MageBeLike Neither is Flareon or Rapidash. But they're listed at the timestamp I put, since they're in the sinnoh dex.
@@CaptainKirbyCK oh I gotcha I thought you meant the top 10 itself. Yeah that’s a good question.
Wasnt expecting to hear the words Big E in the top 10 Sinnoh Pokemon ngl… but hey, im oddly very happy with this
Honestly Im gonna have to give my favorite Sinnoh Pokemon to Bronzong.
You should 100% do a video like that for every gen.
When I was growing up, while the Sinnoh anime was on, Piplup was probably just as iconic as Pikachu
Gen 4 has given me Lucario: my favorite Pokemon, as well as my favorite character in media all around, and both the gen and Lucario will always hold a special place in my heart.
It’s quite interesting you mentioned Donkey Kong when talking about Infernape. I actually nicknamed my Infernape Donkey Kong in Brilliant Diamond.
No love for my favorite, Gallade 😢
It’s hard to choose, but I’d have to say luxray and floatzel are tied for my favorites. Both have been absolutely amazing for me, and in multiple cases, were my very last Pokémon alive while facing the craziest battles of my time. For those reasons, those two are my favorites. Plus, the designs are just awesome
Glad to see Gliscor, Drapion, and Weavile get some love, those are my favorites. I’d add Drifblim, Froslass, and Honchcrow to my list as well
Narrative of Self is the result of a feedback loop between “Separate Self” & Cosmos.🎈
Weavile is not only my fav sinnoh pokemon, but my favorite pokemon period.
Toxicroak will always be my favourite of any generation. I used to run a special-oriented set in XY and people just wouldn't see it coming.
Luxray is my favorite gen 4 Pokemon. I always use it on my team for every pokemon game that it is obtainable in.
good list. My top 10 sinnoh pokemon are 10. Skuntank, 9. Lucario, 8. Toxicroak, 7, Froslass, 6. Palkia, 5. infernape, 4. Luxray. 3. hippopotas 2. torterra 1. Gliscor (will always have on team when possible)
I just got Drifloon tattood a week before the release!! It's been my favorite Pokémon since the OG D&P 🥰
Lucario is probably my favourite Sinnoh Pokémon. I don't always use it when I playthrough Sinnoh, but it's just damn cool
Gotta give it up to my boy Druddigon. One of my favorite single-stage pokemon, he's cool as hell and hits like an out of control bus.
I' was never a big competitive Pokemon player, so my fav Gen 4 Pokemon is Munchlax. Snorlax is one of my favorite Pokemon of all time, so I love its cute pre-evolution!
I shall always be loyal to Gen 2
I love gen 4 so much. Also ngl Staraptor probably my favourite gen 4 mon it's just so cool best bird by far! Also gotta love empoleon first ever starter for a pokemon game :)
Finally, a list where I can have A LOT of opinion about.
If I may add an input, Monferno is genuinely in my top 3 favorite sinnoh Pokémon and is EASILY the best middle stage starter out of all of them
Hearing that he called his Shinx Cleo brought back all kinds of PTSD from Team Four Star's Platinum Nuzlocke run 😅
Overall, fantastic list though.
Jirard: "Piplup may not be the strongest..."
Alpharad: "HOLD MY BEER PIKACHU"
