Like, I wonder if he should try to complete games in parallel, some are one-and-dones like some arcadey games, some are repetitve because they are meant to be done in between other games...rushing completion is like rushing development, it's not gonna show its full potential.
"Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten" No it absolutely doesn't! (Yes, the duel mode does, but that doesn't make the rest any worse) I think Mario Party 3 is the best multiplayer experience the series has to offer. I know everyone praises 2 more than 3, but I'm such a huge fan of some of the changes they made in the third. The biggest thing that makes 3 better than 2 for me is the fact that you can hold three items. That goes a long way for more interesting strategies. Mario Party 4 has this as well, but what absolutely ruins 4 for me are the mega and mini mushrooms. 3 is also the only one, as far as I know, that has paths that lead to a dead end, making you walk back the way you came. This makes for interesting strategy because you can use them in order to waste steps, which makes it possible to further strategize where you land with your roll. Yes, it has some weird mini-games, but I think the overall experience of the boards are better than 1, 2 and every newer entry.
Idk, i prefer mp2 but as someone who is in an mp community mp3 is considered the favorite. Mostly because of it having the best strategy and usage of items. Also good minigames
I feel like Mario Party 1 got the short end of the stick because the only real single player element was Mini-Game Island, everything else was meant to be collected as you played with other people with Bowsers Magma Mountain and The Eternal Star being the real completion bonus as they were more maps to play.
Mario Party is an underrated franchise to say the least, i think what hurts it is the lack of Solo Play, sometimes there's no one to play with, especially nowadays with the Pandemic about, we need quality Single Player to go along with the MP.
It isn't forgotten though. If anything, the first game is the one nobody talks about save for some of its boards every now and then. And even with all that, many people consider the later games to have better versions than the ones in the first game.
Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten?? That's got to be the most blasphemous thing said on this channel to date. We're still playing Mario Party 3 over here since the day it came out!
You're 100% trippin. Slotcar Derby is easy af. You're too concerned about your place based on positioning but fail to realize that because certain parts of the track differ, you may appear close hut actually be seconds ahead. For instance. If you're at the top lane of the bottom arc and somebody is on the bottom lane right below you, it may seem that you're neck and neck but you're actually ahead. They must slow down to make the sharp turn and once they circle to the top, you have the short path and they have the long path. You're literally seconds ahead of them. Computer players also wipe out all the time.
That's not the problem. His problem is that sometimes he spins out without warning or that he can only go so fast without spinning out, and that leaves him moving too slowly. I have this exact same problem.

I can't help but think that doing the review in a period of time when the Party game can't be done in multiplayer, or as a collab, unfairly coloured your opinion.
Hearing you talk about the single player stuff for these 3 games really brings me back to the summers of my grade school and junior high years. See I had friends and stuff and we actually liked to play Mario party together... but I was the morning bird among us and nobody else got up early. Plus sometimes I would beg to wait until the evening before my mom would let my friends come over (unless I took my cartridge somewhere else). So I used to spend a lot of mornings by myself playing the solo modes just to unlock stuff mostly or just to try to feel the joy of my friends being there when they weren't. This really took me back. Thank you.
We still have a picture of my brother and I unwrapping the original Mario Party at our birthday at the skating rink. Still fun to play with my family 20 years later, we are always down to a game of Mario Party. 🤗
Of the three in this video, 3 felt more of an "completionist" experience due it actually having a story mode, not to mention attempting to get S-Ranks across all boards as well as "playing" all of the mini games for it to appear in the library
I know for me MP1& 2 were close to my heart I was at an age were I wasn't making friends at like elementary school and I could play this party game by myself and still have fun.
I think my max there was 8. I do remember doing a 50 turn game and set all players to hard CPU, at the end of the game most of them had about 15 stars, so there was a good collection at the bank that day.
While 2 is historically my favorite perhaps because of nostalgia, 3 might be a better game. I really wish 3 would've been released on virtual console because I honestly forget how the boards felt. I remember great mini games and the coop mode was so fun and different. 1 had some great mini games that we probably won't see again either. I really wish they would release the original games along side the re-releases. I love the new remix, but not everything made the cut.

The whole "Mario Party is not fun by yourself" thing is one of the biggest reasons I love Mario Party DS so much. While it's still at its best with friends, it's Story Mode is still very enjoyable imo, giving it a single player experience that's far better then any of the other Mario Party games I've played.
Can't wait to see the Mario party advance completionist video, thats gonna be real interesting as it's a Mario party game designed with single player in mind
It’s been awhile since I made this request. Please consider Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling. If you’re going to complete indie games in the future then this masterpiece shouldn’t be overlooked.
It looks so crunchy 😭 these games were such a huge part of my childhood. Me and my brother played them all the time. I really need to revisit these. WE NEED MARIO PARTY SUPERSTARS DLC
7:08 ????? Jirard, as someone who grew up with the first three, this is mostly false. - MP1: Minigame Island, sure, but most of the game is done by collecting 100 stars and playing all the boards, solo or not. - MP2: Same deal, Minigame Coaster is single-player, but everything else is multiplayer. - MP3: Okay this one I'll give you due to the Story Mode. I still wouldn't say that's "the majority of the games", not even close.
I haven't watched a Completionist video in quite some time but I gotta say, damn your production value is fucking fantastic. It's as good as watching a TV show. Congratulations on your staff and on you Jirard for keeping up this long running, probably exhausting, series and making it better and better as time goes on. Your fantastic and keep up the good work. I'm glad to know that some things from my childhood only got better as opposed to worse, like the rest of the world is.

Man.. I honestly thought that 3 switched things up enough to keep the series feeling fresh (or as fresh as you can for a party game series). Replayed it with friends, during the past 5 years, and we had a blast with it, despite getting clobbered by hard mode DK.
I have many fond memories playing the first three Mario Parties and Super Smash Brothers with my cousins growing up. They had N64 and I had a Playstation, so whenever I went to their house for sleepovers we'd play the N64, and every one in a while I would bring my PS1 and show them RPGs like FF7 and Tactics Ogre. Good memories. Video games really brought us together through some rough times growing up

Mario party just isn't ment to be completed. It was a game ment for you and your brothers/sisters/cousins or friends to just play and have a great time (unless you lost haha) so seeing this as a review was strange. These games are all amazing for the one simple thing they were ment for...FUN
"Nobody plays Monopoly by themselves" I honestly needed to hear that quote because I couldn't understand why Jirard didn't enjoy playing these games single player. The single player in these games honestly was really nice from an introverts perspective.

Like, I wonder if he should try to complete games in parallel, some are one-and-dones like some arcadey games, some are repetitve because they are meant to be done in between other games...rushing completion is like rushing development, it's not gonna show its full potential.

"Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten"
No it absolutely doesn't! (Yes, the duel mode does, but that doesn't make the rest any worse)
I think Mario Party 3 is the best multiplayer experience the series has to offer.
Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten?
It’s ok, we can’t all have good taste.
It isn't forgotten though. If anything, the first game is the one nobody talks about save for some of its boards every now and then. And even with all that, many people consider the later games to have better versions than the ones in the first game.
@@thesnatcher3616 no, I know. I was quoting the video.
@@xhxrricane1328 Yeah. I know. I was basically just responding to Jirard. Pretty great comment! Summarizes that line PERFECTLY.
Typical hipster response
How the heck can someone dislike MP3's duel mode? That's literally the best part of the game. D:
you can't argue with the lugmilord the n64 god
The amount of work out into your videos is insane
Jirard: "a six-sided die, numbered one to ten"
Mathematicians: "Wait, that's illegal!"
Dads: "one two ten? what about the other 3 sides?"
Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten?? That's got to be the most blasphemous thing said on this channel to date. We're still playing Mario Party 3 over here since the day it came out!
If you're looking for a good Solo Mario Party Experience try playing Mario Party DS 👀
I want to play on a TV not a tiny screen...
@@SuperPeterok Have you heard about this thing called Wii U Virtual Console?
@@ilan_profile yes but I don't have a Wiiu
@@SuperPeterok Theres also 🤫Emulation🤫
@@ethnictendo sounds like you don't know how to play the game very well. The mechanics are fine. The problem is the person holding the controller.
@@dreddscott3873 No, I'm pretty good at controlling my speed, I've practiced a lot. It's just bad.
@@ethnictendo our brains just work differently I suppose. I'm definitely not misremembering and I don't think you're lying about your struggles. I owned this when it first came out so I was about 13. This was one of the easier games. I don't even remember any hard games tbh. I'd have to look.
@@dreddscott3873 I've been playing this game since I was at least four years old, and I still have the game and a working console. So yeah, if anyone is misremembering anything, it's most likely to be you. I'm not saying you are, I'm saying this is the most likely explanation.
I had Mario Party 2, I played it by myself a lot. I stinkin loved it, especially the “story”
I love Mario party. Just wish I had friends to play with me.
I can't help but think that doing the review in a period of time when the Party game can't be done in multiplayer, or as a collab, unfairly coloured your opinion.
I agree. Mario Party wasn’t really remembered for its solo mode campaign, like… ever. It was never about that.
Trying to complete Mario party 3 sounds terrible but honestly Mario party 3 is the absolutely best of those 3 imo. Those mini games were amazing
5:28 A six sided die numbered one through 10... this confused me so much as a child.
19:19 This was my first Mario Party game. It was a chance encounter at Mcdonald's in the playplace back then. I found it existed in a player's guide.
It was *Chance Time,* huh?
Of the three in this video, 3 felt more of an "completionist" experience due it actually having a story mode, not to mention attempting to get S-Ranks across all boards as well as "playing" all of the mini games for it to appear in the library
The 10th Anniversary intro is so good
"So I got together with some friends and Ted"
"Just sitting next to some people whose company I enjoy (and Ted)"
ouch.
I know for me MP1& 2 were close to my heart I was at an age were I wasn't making friends at like elementary school and I could play this party game by myself and still have fun.
“I got some friends, and Ted, together…..” 😂😂 that really got me!!
I remember one time I got 10 stars in Mario party 1 on Wario’s battle canyon, and I felt like a god!
I think my max there was 8. I do remember doing a 50 turn game and set all players to hard CPU, at the end of the game most of them had about 15 stars, so there was a good collection at the bank that day.
Referring to Mario Party 3 as "The Ugly", I just have three words...
How dare you.
3 was released on Wii U right? Shame it missed the Wii release.
@@LuffyMcDuck Not according to all the lists I can find. I'm sure there is a way to emulate it, but it's not available to purchase anymore aside from the cart.
Well they brought back tug o war and castaways so….
Superstars is amazing. My favorite still is MP6
The whole trilogy is great, but _Mario Party 2_ is one of my favorite games of all time! Also, first time seing the new intro, love it!

Ah, Mario Party.
Jeff Gerstmann's "Favorite" series. Lol
My alt account here is Typhloquil and I'm one of the few who did a marathon run speedrun of All Face Statues in MP3. It's absolutely one of the most grueling things you can do casually in Mario Party, let alone through speedrun, so good job getting through dude.
The whole "Mario Party is not fun by yourself" thing is one of the biggest reasons I love Mario Party DS so much. While it's still at its best with friends, it's Story Mode is still very enjoyable imo, giving it a single player experience that's far better then any of the other Mario Party games I've played.
Wow I can't believe he showed *SNOWBOARD KIDS*. I haven't seen that game in forever and I still have a copy somewhere 😃
Mario party series is fun on n64 is classic
Can't wait to see the Mario party advance completionist video, thats gonna be real interesting as it's a Mario party game designed with single player in mind
That intro gave me goosebumps
It’s been awhile since I made this request. Please consider Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling. If you’re going to complete indie games in the future then this masterpiece shouldn’t be overlooked.
Mario party is ingrained in my body, litterly! The button controls are carved into my brain!
Mario Party 3 isn't forgettable bro its the best one on N64 😭
but great video tho
It looks so crunchy 😭 these games were such a huge part of my childhood. Me and my brother played them all the time. I really need to revisit these.
WE NEED MARIO PARTY SUPERSTARS DLC
Mario Party 3 deserves to be forgotten because of its 100% completion? Seriously? And Duel mode is fire fym
Mario Party 3 is still my favorite game of all my life.
Mario party 3 is my favorite Mario party Nintendo 64.

"And Ted" killed me! 🤣👍🏻
Oh man seeing Crash Bash again for a second there made me feel real good. I wish they rebooted or remastered that game. Just bring it back...
"Each one of you roll a six sided dice number one through ten..." Not gonna lie, I knew that this statement was true, but DANG if my brain didn't overheat for a second trying to make the math work out.
Good episode. That intro makes me smile every time.
Video games really brought us together through some rough times growing up
Mario party 2 was some of the best times with my family as a kid. Good times. I was actually curious if u have already my bad but could u complete final fantasy 3 aka 6 for snes. With your completionist skills im curious on how quickly u could 100% complete it. I feel like u could review and complete it the best.
Uh if he ever reviews ff6 he will retire the next week. He said that DKC2 will be his last review and ff6 will be second to last if you didn't know this is like vintage completionist info so I guarantee you it'll happen but hopefully when he's ready to hang his hat
It absolutely blows my mind that they never really brought back the costumes from Mario Party 2. Like that was SUCH a good little design touch. Why didn't they keep that for like every single game going forward? Even if it had just been different hats on different boards it would've been awesome.
I can't wait to watch! Mario Party 3 has always been my favorite!
"Bowser has become something scarier than ever before, a COMMUNIST!"
-The Completionist, 2021
I remember my time completing Mario Party 2 & 8 in the past.
And after having loads of fun with Super Mario Party, I'm more than ready to have Mario Party Superstars.
Let's see if you'll complete all the rest of the main home console Mario Parties in the future soon.
I still play Mario Party 2 by myself to this day just because I enjoy it that much, but I also will fire up my SNES copy of Monopoly for the same reason. The single player in these games honestly was really nice from an introverts perspective.
I had to play this game by myself back then. No one else wanted to play. I wanted to play against my friend's mom as she was unstoppable.
I still love the new intro!
.... I actually did most of this as a kid and I still have a ton of nostalgia for them, especially 3. How lame was I when I was younger? Lol
Dude, tug o war was the shittiest game in any Mario party. That game gave me giant blisters on my hands and it was still impossible. I think I beat it exactly once.
HOLY SHIT nice intro there! I loved the Mario Party series, glad you had a better time with friends.
The first three Mario parties hold a special place in my heart. I would beat the entire first Mario party game in its entirety and them start over to get that satisfaction of 100%ing it once again
Mario party on the Wii was so good
Damn, loving this new intro!!
You gotta do the GameCube mario parties next
