The repeat ball was such a simple and predictable joke, yet it was my absolute favourite in this episode. It was just that beautifully smooth delivered, it cracked me up unexpectedly.
I wonder, does Clank from Ratchet and Clank himself count as a gadget? If so, he's probably my favorite. He's an all-in-one jetpack, jokester, genius, level-headed jiminy cricket, and the iconic duo wouldn't be half of what it was without him (literally).
I don't know what spot it would be, but one of my favorites is the double clawshot from Twilight Princess. Few things are as satisfying as Spider-Link-ing.
The heart in Dishonored 2 that lets you see and travel to a different time. It's visually stunning, is great storytelling, and an awesome mechanic for puzzle solving, sneaking, combat, etc. The Dishonored series has lots of cool gadgets. Another thing that comes to mind is the GLOO gun from Prey. It's not a favorite of mine but I did enjoy that game and Game Makers Toolkit has a good video about the gun.
For the googles I would have went with the detective vision from Batman Arkham games I mean in asylum they literally tracked someone from the alcohol on there breathe , I think you’re choice is a bit more iconic though
"You can take a selfie with Ganon for the first time." Someone has not seen a certain Game Grumps playthrough and a certain iconic moment. Arin and Dan might want a word with you Jirard, and you may want to play Wind Waker again to refresh your memory (HD version at least). XD I also thought you were going for the Pokedex instead of Pokeballs. Honestly, you could have both side by side as they are so iconic.
Good list. I knew portal would be on here the second I saw the title. I liked the repeat ball gag too but you gotta diss Luigi and Wind Waker like that? Gooigi can't even touch water and Link was taking selfies with Ganon long before BOTW.
I would have picked the Proton Pack from Ghost Busters The Video Game, not only is a staple of the franchise but is also your in game HUD which was quite unique in execution.... Until Dead Space came around...... Not only possessed the classic beam but also a freeze blast and ectoplasmic glue for combat and puzzle solving, it held the ghost trap and during the Stay Puff boss fight they could attach a functioning rappel wire. With pun intended it "Feels Good" to bust that thing around.
I like the Bi-nocu-com from the Sly series- it's a set of binoculars, a communication device, a spy camera, a compass, a radar..... it's pretty awesome!
The morbid lore of the pip-boy is interesting but only touched on here: Once a person puts a Pip-Boy on, it can only be removed surgically. This is explored in Fallout 3's "Operation Anchorage" DLC where you see a bunch of Gary clones missing their arms in a locked room. The problem, however, is that the Pip-Boy doesn't function once removed so the Outcasts were unable to use it without subjecting themselves to a lifelong wrist computer or amputation to remove it once their goal was completed. Saying all that to say this: Stanley tells your 10 year old character that the Pip-Boy they received for their birthday was "an older model", meaning...
The PipBoy is probably my favourite out of the bunch. It looks slightly different in every Fallout game but still is always unmistakeable and a really neat way to implement the menu.
Okay. That's fair. Good choice of gadgets. I don't know how you came up with 10 favorites gadgets, but I can't think of all of that at all. So I'll try my best at a top 3. 3º : Lockpicks. Or Skelleton Key in Skyrim. I WANT THE TREASURE AND YOU CAN'T DENY IT! Also the Skelleton Key for the Skelleton Car. 2º : Double Claw Shot, Zeldas Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword. This kind of gadget is amazing, and there are so many out there, but TP/SS has a double claw shot, for double the action. 1º : Shield. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Shield surfing is the best thing in that game and no one can convince me otherwise. Also the ability to parry Guardian's Beams is cool I guess.
The rift tether in R&C was cool, but I had way more fun using the hover boots on that desert planet. Zipping around doing sweet tricks off of jumps was so much fun.
I play the hell out of portal to the point where I know the puzzles by heart. And it doesn't get boring either I just feel free just going through the first one beginning to end with no breaks.
Pip-Boys are so cool, i'd so want one if they ever get made irl, i just hope that my low Agility stat will allow the use of VATS in a bind. Edit: also, if any of you havent played Fallout: New Vegas modded, then you havent played it right, because holy hell are you in for a great time with enough mods.
I was sure The Gravity Gun from Half Life 2 was gonna be in there. For me thats my number one gaming gadget but glad to see the Portal Gun at no. 1 if not the gravity gun. Valve rocks
Was wondering the whole time where you number one option is "It is on this list, right?" Yeah, that's definitely my #1 as well; it's clever, it's super useful, it's iconic, it was a great programmign feat, and it's fun. And even usable in combat.
This game reminded me just how much I loved Bioshock Infinite. I luckily started it early in the day and didn't stop until I was finished late that night. I was hooked immediately. And the travel claw thing definitely made traveling around the main area very fun.
Samus’ power suit is at the top for me. If I had to make a specific choice from her Arsenal, it would be the morph ball. That really has been so unique in gaming and the iterations on it in each game is great.
I really thought that the laser watch from GoldenEye made into the list because of the Hamilton Watch xD Great video nevertheless. I prefer the paraglider than the Shikah Slate, but is personal preference.
This might be a lot closer to a weapon than a gadget, but I'd say the Super Shotgun's Meathook from Doom Eternal. An absolute blast to use in traversing the high octane combat arenas.
Ah yes, another great Top Tens video :3 Thank you Jirard and team! :D I would personally add some awesome vehicles to this list, but maybe that’s not an item per se. A Top Tens vehicle list would be awesome tho 🤔
Everyone always hypes up the portal gun, but nobody thinks of the consequences of using it without the much underrated long fall boots. You know, the boots that allow you to land from falls of nearly every height and every angle. Without those, the portal gun (used in the ways the game uses it) would be insta death lol
It’s not that I disagree with any of the items on your list, but I don’t agree that the gravity gun isn’t on this list. I’d say it’s better than anything on the list except for the portal gun
A lot of great gadgets in the list! For me, one that came to my mind right away was Rush from the MegaMan games. Such a versatile pup. And how can you beat a gadget that can also be your best friend? ;)
Can i point out the rift tether kinda just reminds me of the swing shot? Nah be ratchet and clank gadgets is his spanner, it unlocks doors, can be throw to hit buttons and can defend yourself
Spiderman's web shooters are pretty fun in most his games easy to overlook as you kind of start with them. Majora's Mask has several great gadgets aka masks. Haven't played many recent gadget heavy games
Just played that game. Good for its time, but I completely missed that part. I wish they had a separate volume for voices and music as the music loudness on Xbox made me miss dialog at times.

Was literally my first thought after seeing the vid title. Hard agree
Yes. 🙌
Yeah but you can play as clank and he has a history so it is more depending on the game
Either clank or the wrench for sure
I was thinking the same thing, along with Samus Aran's Chozo armor and good old Chibi-Robo himself...
The gravity gun from Half-Life would definitely be on my list.
And Gloo gun from Prey

Idk if this is it's name but the gravity gun from Dead Space would definitely be on my list
The Portal gun is obviously superior and way more cool 😎
This was my thought until the Portal gun came up. But yeah, gravity gun is just amazing, especially towards the end of HL2
