Great video and obviously a lot of effort went into this, I very much enjoyed it! I wonder why it doesn't receive more views because they'd be well deserved. Regarding the content, what Waymo does looks much more solid than what Tesla is trying to pull off
I'm very interested in these things, though I already feel that while robo taxis will rarely make the sorts of mistakes humans will, they'll do things humans are incredibly unlikely to do, like park a wheel on someone's foot or limb and stay there, or endlessly honk and wander into zones and interrupt first responders or other pedestrianized areas.
Just saw one yesterday in AZ!!!! That thing drove beautifully and elegant. Robots are coming people I promise you. I didn’t know A.I was this advanced and I’m happy but nervous what this means for us as a species in the future
I would say it's much more cautious than us I wouldn't say it's necessarily safer. They doing okay job driving around town but their problem solving ability is near zero. And while it's okay for them to just stop and wait that's inherently not safe.
Yeah pulling off for that emergency vehicle wasn't necessary or safe. The problem is it has no context of when it's supposed to do that. You're not just supposed to stop it yield to the right when the emergency vehicle is not coming from behind you. Again it's being cautious not safe
@@matt45540 Not true. Here's what the Web says are the rules for emergency vehicles: "Traffic rules generally require drivers to pull over and yield to emergency vehicles regardless of whether they are approaching from behind or from the front. The key is to ensure that the emergency vehicle can pass safely and quickly. When an emergency vehicle is approaching with lights and sirens, you should: Pull over to the right as far as possible and stop. Stay stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed. Be alert for additional emergency vehicles that might be following. This applies whether the emergency vehicle is coming from behind, in front, or from the side. The goal is to clear the way for the emergency responders to reach their destination as quickly and safely as possible." It's true there was a solid median involved here, but the Waymo responded to that quickly. Its initial reaction was safety first.

Autonomous driving technology is more awesome, safe and far better than the humans driving. This cool technology should be expanded all over the world.

Jason Cammisa and DTS did the same in San Francisco for their Carmudgeon/Hagerty channel upload of June 10, 2024 and they basically had the SAME EXPERIENCE. obviously SF's a whole different city from both Phoenix and LA and anybody who's been to 'Frisco knows is vastly more challenging to navigate (and i'm talking about for Human drivers). what this means is Elon's getting the pants BEAT off him by the Google Mega Corp in his own back yard of Silicon Valley. well i guess it's technically no longer "his backyard"...? since Tesla HQ has (operationally) moved from Fremont to Texas, and both Elon and Twitter have literally been "chased out" of their building on Market Street. this stuff DOES tend to happen any time you don't pay your rent, Elon's certainly not alone in this. Waymo is certainly doing a decent enough job. But then so is Tesla. Taking a step back and looking at both systems, Tesla have some huge advantages, and if they can make it work (they are getting very close) Then it is Tesla who will dominate in this space.

@@azofftrail Sorry but there was a barrier in the middle. That's an exception to the rule so what Waymo did was, indeed, pointless.
So if there is an emergency vehicle anywhere nearby the AI car just starts unpredictably behaving and pulling over? Amazing
