Here in Mexico BYD is growing very rapidly, 3 months ago, I took ownership of the SONG plus SUV, and I am impressed with the quality of the vehicle, and also it'sincredible efficiency( Former Audi,Mercedes and BMW owner)
When US is dominating the market: "Free market! Let the consumer decide! No more restrictions!" When China comes up with a great product: "Yeah, let's charge 100% tariffs". 🤪
Only because that would destroy the banker backed car markets by a landslide. Us manufacturing is more expensive paying more for resources and employee rates. So if you want to buy a Chinese car and import it's 100% tariff aka the same price as a cyber truck/rivian.
@@WhiteWolfos That's not even what the 100% tariff is for. You legally CANNOT self import (AKA gray import or parallel) a car into the United States and be able to legally register it for road use until it is 25 years old. So even if you are personally willing to buy a BYD in Mexico, China, wherever and pay the 100% tariff, you still not allowed to do it. The only way to legally sell a new car in the US is for the manufacture to come set up sales and service networks. Which is why the 100% tariff was put into place. It is basically telling the Chinese carmakers don't even bother thinking about legally importing cars into the US market for sale.
@@alexklein455Buick's market share in China is 3.1%, and that makes 80% of their worldwide sales. BYD has a 37% market share in China and has actually sold more EVs than Tesla in 2023. I would be worried.
Here in New Zealand, the BYD battery electric vehicles (e.g.Atto 3) have become one of the most popular EVs on the market. Every owner I have spoken to is very happy with their purchase. The thing that matters most is that the BYD is HALF the price of the Cybertruck or Rivian. If this vehicle were allowed to sell at MSRP in the USA, the truck market would be forever changed, and the UAW would be terminally ill.
Yes, but that’s because it’s an hybrid with a very small battery ( most expensive part for electric vehicles) it is more appropriate to compare the BYD vs. an ICE pickup. 🤷🏻♂️
The unionized workers aren't the problem. They have incredibly difficult jobs that don't pay very well. The union executive is a big problem (all unions are corrupt) but the main problem is management. They're management experts only concerned about keeping their jobs. And you have to realize that the cost to the environment of these Chinese vehicles is tremendous. They're made with coal in a country with almost zero environmental restrictions. What are we trying to save here? The environment? So we can virtue signal by driving an EV that caused outsized environmental damage in it's manufacture? And the Rivian is impossible to fix.

The bad thing is that we have done almost nothing except adding tariffs. High tariffs will not prevent the progress of Chinese cars, nor will they make American cars stronger.
Lmao actually it will... Tarrifs when used properly, protect your market from government subsidized take overs... People like your self should have no opinion because you very clearly don't see what china is doing lol They will subsidize their companies long enough to crush your domestic companies, and then start increasing prices after their is no more domestic competition... At that point you will fund china, or you won't have a car... The US knows this is china's plan, so they employ Tarrifs to stop it... China has used this strategy many many times in the past.
Wait. The US auto mfgs are in fact doing alot, it's just that it's all in huge, unearned CEO pay. Meanwhile, they chase the tail of different markets, while claiming to " have done it".
@@PeteLenz If they build factories in the United States, at least they can generate jobs and tax revenue, and promote competition among American automakers. The worst case scenario is that they build factories in Mexico or Canada and sell them to the United States with zero tariffs, and the United States gets nothing. The Chinese have actually built factories in Mexico and sell their own products. The "Wuling" 310C car even uses the Chevrolet logo and is sold in Mexico. Soon we will be able to drive American-branded, Mexico-made of china cars.

I own a BYD Dolphin in Thailand and these Chinese cars have evolved a lot the last years. Most of them have now European designers. The quality is very good. BYD dominates the Thai EV market.
As of design, BYD's chef designer is actually Wolfgang Egger, former designer of Audi, Alfa Romeo, he designed one of the most beautiful car in 21st century: Alfa Romeo 8C. After he's on board BYD has thrown away their history of copying Toyotas, Mercedes. So I'm quite shocked that the Shark has a f150 face. I hope their next gen would came up with sth. bold and unique like their sedan, SUV lineup.

There are two version for sale in Mexico right now, and their current cost (deducting sales tax for USA comparisson) is $38,610 and $41,580 USD.
if that BYD truck was allowed to be sold in the US market and sell at under 50k ; I would buy one for sure and I think that BYD would sell a lot of them here !
Sorry for my bad English. But I want to say that the middle and senior managers of Chinese car companies have experienced hardship. Many of them come from poor backgrounds. Their philosophy is to build cars for the people, not for the capitalists. Through continuous efforts, it has been proven that the Chinese can manufacture vehicles with reliable quality and affordable prices. I struggled with this for 20 years. I hope everyone can have the opportunity to choose a high-quality and affordable car.
In the past 20 years, BYD's power system has evolved to the fifth generation and is widely used in many household cars and taxis in China. This power system has been proven to be very mature and reliable. BYD, with its PHEV powertrain and unique EV and battery technology, has surpassed the German and Japanese car brands with the highest market share, becoming the best-selling brand in China, the world's largest automotive market. The originally expensive German and Japanese cars have significantly reduced in price and sales, even the second-hand cars of these brands have depreciated crazily.
I think the BYD is the most convenient of all of them, no range anxiety to be your worry, would have loved to meet you guys while on El Paso! We don’t get many celebrities on our town
That's because it's primarily a ICE vehicle with a 30kw battery i.e a stock standard hybrid. And what range anxiety. I've never had an issue with EVs. Do you get range anxiety with your mobile phone? No, because you charge it when needed and if going long distances, plan to charge it as needed
The BYD truck would put American made trucks out of business that's why the Chinese aren't allowed to compete, it's called protectionism and we did that to Japanese made vehichles in the 60's until they started being built in the USA!
It’s all so stupid. We screw over all US consumers with higher prices to help out a relative handful of autoworkers. If we did this to all industries the US would implode.
@@Lo-sy9fz Are you sure? Remember 2008? American government had to bail a few American car makers out. Otherwise, at least 3 American car makers would have gone out of business.
A vehicle like this would take over the truck market. Let these companies COMPETE! We're falling behind the world's tech by protecting our domestic market which are overpricing dated technology. Let the market decide what succeeds.
Ram is releasing a similar truck in 2025 with Ramcharger, I believe people will flock to it because it's a plug in electric vehicle with a gas generator that eliminates range concerns. These type of plugin hybrids are what auto makers should have released first instead of fully electric trucks.
Luckily we are here in Australia will have access to this truck for less than the Mexican price, it will be a perfect camping truck for me carry very thing I need + all the creature comfort electric appliances that won't normally make sense when driving a ICE vehicle. It would be good to have the choice of all Utes / Pick Up’s in Australia. For people who think that Chinese EV’s are junk my advice is to drive one. They used to say Japanese and Korean cars are junk and look what happened. At the end of the day value for money matters and regardless of your political or social views things change.

Actually, the BYD SHARK is not sold in China either; we can only see reviews of it here. The BYD SHARK likely uses the same DMO Super Hybrid system as the BYD Fang Cheng Bao 5 (Fang cheng bao bao 5), which delivers 670 horsepower in the Fang Cheng Bao 5. Many people may not fully understand how the DMO system works. DMO is similar to DM-p and DM-i systems, where at low speeds the gasoline engine is used to generate electricity, and when the speed exceeds a certain point, around 90+ km/h, the engine can directly drive the vehicle. The next model on the DMO platform will feature a 2.0T engine.
This was the sort of vehicle I was looking for when I purchased my Santa Cruz back in '21 - midsize /small pickup truck with nice interior quality and that's a hybrid. All of the videos showing off BYD products seem to call out the decent, if not exceptional quality of the interior and overall build - features and technology are well above the usual domestic manufacturers.

@PickensDon That means it'll be 100k here in the US assuming byd meet all US regulations. With it's unproven safety and reliability issues, it'll cost the average American 300k so no americans in their right minds will be taking a risk on an overpriced inferior unproven product. As a BYD car owner in China, let me explain how to start the engine. First, switch the mode from EV to HEV. Then, change the intelligent power-saving mode to forced power-saving mode and set the forced power-saving level to the highest. When the battery level drops below the forced power-saving threshold, the engine will start. *some key word translations may be different.
This is very interesting. It sounds like the Shark is designed so that it can be driven with the combustion engine off. This is a very important feature and something that all EREVs should do.
The BYD would be a good option for long range towing with a 5000 lb. travel trailer. Nice alternative to the upcoming Dodge RAM EREV pickup, for people that want something smaller. Nice truck, and good value for the price.
@@allencrider Like they stated in the video, it has 450 hp from the electric motors, the 1.5 litre ICE is there as a motor generator to recharge the battery when it depletes.

@@waterloo123100 the gasoline engine is only a generator. It is not mechanically linked to the wheels. All the towing/motive force comes from the electric motors and the battery. The good thing about the generator approach is the engine could theoretically run at one set RPM value for maximum efficiency and never change. Maybe the engine isn't rated for high torque loads, or does poorly across a range of RPMs, but none of those are concerns in this case. The gas motor doesn't care how fast your accelerating, if your going up hill, or how heavy you tow. It only charges the battery at a set rate. Then the electric motors take energy from the battery at a variable rate.
A LOT of people in here have no idea how an engine driven generator for electric drive actually works. People claiming this thing couldn't tow must have missed how locomotives move more weight per unit of power more efficiently than anything else we have out there. That's a fossil fuel engine powering a generator to drive electric motors...sound familiar?
Great point on EV torque capabilities. I looked up the towing on the Shark. It's only 5000 pounds. Cybertruck & Rivian are 11,000lbs. Rated. Of course they can all tow a train, slowly, if that's your thing. I love the idea of Cybertruck & Rivian, and they're more capable than the Shark, but I hope to see bigger hybrid trucks with bigger battery packs for commercial & RV use. Edison Motors is refitting semi trucks & work trucks with 250 kWh batteries & motors and a diesel generator. Making an F450 size truck & van with 100 kWh and a generator is the current untapped market.
I would buy a BYD if I could, because it is good, if not great, and HALF the price. I like the concept of a gas generator, less moving parts to wear out. I would run it electric most of the time anyway.
Having the gas motor means 10X moving parts and much more frequent maintenance compared to a pure battery electric vehicle. The gas motor will likely wear out and fail long before the battery and electric motor.
@@reicherk Agreed, unfortunately there are no affordable electric trucks in North America, nor will there be for some time. This is a better option than gas engines that are tied into the drive train. And, if I am running electric most of the time, the gas engine will not wear out for a LONG time.

@@Ricer-b4n How could BYD posibly go out of business? I think BYD will be around much longer than the established legacy automakers in the US.
If I gave up my ICE F150, I would want the BYD truck. The others are expensive toys with somewhat limited truck abilities. I agree the Rivian is the better-looking truck; but that is not enough to sway me to buy it. I know the BYD has a limited towing capability, but I would be interested in a tow test to see what it could do when running on the ICE powering a generator powering the batteries/electric motors. If it could realistically tow 5,000 lbs., then this would be the perfect midsize pickup. For the most part it runs on its batteries with a good useful battery range as a light duty truck. When you need to do real truck duties and/or need extended range, the ICE gets you there. Very impressive design and build.
Hey guys! Excellent review! A few details about the Shark: - That front bias you feel is because the front motor is 170kw while the rear is 150kw - The motor will only charge the battery when it's below 70%. With the way batteries recharge, charge speed slows down between 70-100. The engine won't be able to put enough charge in the battery in that SOC range so it just doesn't. - That plug ports are 3kw max out, but the V2L adaptor from the charge port COULD provide 6kw. It's not confirmed for the Shark but that is because this DMO platform can output on other vehicles - The Shark is very much modelled off a Ford Ranger. So much so that Ford Ranger accessories will fit onto the Shark (roll bars and tonneau covers) Looking forward to more videos on it!
I have a JAC T9 4x4 truck with all the equipment you can ask for, great truck and it is half the price of a Colorado ZR2; too bad you are not getting new gen chineese cars, they are killing It here in México. I hired a Chinese SUV an MG HS while overseas and was shocked how good the quality was it wasn’t that far off the quality of an Audi Q5, do more reviews in the USA, as a current midsize truck owner of the new Ford Ranger and prior owner of the older Chevy Colorado, I would seriously consider this truck if it was sold in the USA, a lot better than the Tesla and Rivian joke of a truck at double the price!!!!
I honestly expected this drive train setup to be on the Ford Maverick. When it came out as a traditional hybrid, I was disappointed. My father said back in the early 90s, "I don't know why we don't make cars like diesel locomotives. With an engine to generate electricity and have electric motors to drive the wheels." Being young, that statement always stuck with me. It is shocking, that this still isn't the norm for hybrids now.
I think deasel need to get hot, and the battery dont like too much heat, thats why they use gas, and the Chinese think deasel is too old days. They remeber the old days with bad air quality. They even bamned higher than 2.5 i think dont quote me on it.
There is no technical reason it can't be done. The hold back has been technology and cost. Electric motors being used in recent years are far more efficient and cost effective enough now to be considered along with the electronics to control them. The drawback still remains is that a mobile fuel based engine is no where near as efficient as a stationary grid capable generator from both output and cleanliness. Having a engine small enough to fit in a vehicle that has to operate under all types of weather conditions, yet be durable enough to take the shocks from road/off road conditions and an exhaust system small and light enough to be emissions friendly has its drawbacks and limits. The same fuel source is capable of producing much more electricity from a large stationary generator that can be then stored in a battery for usage. The ICE vehicle engine is pretty close to its limits for efficiency. Battery tech has huge potential for improvements thus can advance not only vehicle propulsion into the future (the market driver for the tech) but just about every single electronic device will benefit as well from those advancements.
The Chevy Volt was a linear hybrid - an engineering marvel. GM canceled it shortly after our lease expired. A good experience with the hybrid made it clear that a battery electric is preferable
This is the direction that the domestic truck will likely have to go. Ford is hinting at it. I was expecting the Maverick to come out as PHEV. Not sure why they are dragging their feet on that. This is a good size truck that BYD has here. Not sure it is my cup of tea, but I certainly think this is a good start. Would love to see payload, and towing capabilities improved. We know Ram has something coming in the full size class. Announcements are coming in daily with the Chinese making new car announcements and they are not following Tesla anymore. Things are moving much faster there than they are here. Maybe a trip to China would be worth it? I think BYD is listening and will take your criticism to heart and make changes. Would love to see it.
The 2025 Maverick will finally have AWD available for hybrid, and 4k tow rating as well. A PHEV Mav prototype was spotted in early 2023, but still not on the market. And all the while the base price went up $10k in 4 model years. I had such high hopes for the Mav bringing an innovative truck market to the US 😢
@@moonjelly84 Ford was leading here and now it looks like they are squandering that lead. They had better be getting a PHEV with working capabilities out in the market place and at a price people can afford or BYD will be building that plant in Mexico sooner than they think. However BYD DMO's technology is not the same as volts. the DMO's engine is direct drive to the front wheels at higher speeds. And the thermal efficiency is 46%, both of which are the reason why the DMO's fuel consumption can reach 7.5L/100km. Also, the SHARK's engine is longitudinally mounted, so it has better suspension space.
Rhe nice thing about BYDs system is thst its an EV at its base, generator added in. Instead of the other way around with many hybrids. This allows more advancements on the EV powertain portion and a great platform to have wgen they transition to full EV when the battery and electronics technology gets there to allow 400+ miles without a massive pack
In Australia we do not have all 3 of these yet. The first here will probably do very well. Looks like BYD Shark will be here first, they are testing on our roads already. Cybertruk and Rivian have no RHD yet anyway.

Friendship doesn't have barriers. We in Mexico do things different for pickup trucks, and this BYD Shark is quite perfect for us as we don't do much of towing or off road, but we do need a pickup for moving stuff. I own a BYD Seal AWD, which is the direct competitor of the Tesla Model 3 and I'm very happy with my car.
The fact that US gov puts a 100% tariff on it says it all. It has a huge cost competitiveness, solid quality and excellent tech and features. If it's really crappy then nobody would buy it anyway, so no need for tarriff. If it has safety or security issues then the government could straight ban it. Instead, it has 100% tariff.
That was in the past, but it is no longer the case. They are getting better and better at high-value products, such as DJI drones, and more and more high-quality products are appearing.
The Shark is not technically a hybrid, it's an ERV (extended range vehicle). The difference is that in an ERV, the ice engine only provides power to the battery and not to the drive shaft/wheels (as you mentioned). This is why when you turned on hybrid mode you still didn't hear the engine because they're still power in the battery. Plenty of manufacturers are looking at ervs since you get some of the efficiency benefits of an EV (producing power via gas for the batteries is more efficient than using gas to move the car) with some of the benefits of being able to fill up with gas.
Hybrid was popular here in Europe some years back. Then came articles about higher consumption for both petrol and batteries. One is dragging the another along. So it will mostly be gone any year now here in Europe. They exists but sells less and less.
This is not conventional hybrid, Hybrids in europe are mild hybrid with tiny battery and conventional transmition .THis is always power by electric and engine just add range
About to launch in Australia and the legacy automakers should be worried. Interestingly, the top 2 vehicles sold in Australia for the past few years have been the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux (both similar size to the BYD Shark). KIA are also launching the Tasman, which has taken what seems like a decade to finally launch and despite the Australian name, will struggle against the Ford, Toyota and new BYD Shark. Australia has the most competitive auto market in the world, with over 50 brands sold here and about another 10 Chinese brands about to launch.
Most competitive market 😂, do you really believe that 😂. It’s a tiny market with a very limited range. China is the most competitive market by a long long way.
@paulb1951 Australia is the most competitive market per capita and per total sales volume. 50+ brands competing for only 1 Million sales a year. That is tough competition.
GM, Ford, Ram, Toyota, or Hyundai/KIA: A mid size truck with 8k towing and a 30 amp connector would sell. People charge at home in their garage. Electric efficiency around home, no range anxiety with towing.
I'm sure it'll happen on future iterations, but I'd personally hold out for a minimum electric round trip of 100 miles. I can imagine the BYD Shark selling well downunder, but have a lot of questions about the petrol engine and the risks of it seizing up like so many hybrids. Hybrid is probably where the ute market is at in nz/aus, but I'd love to have the option of full electric.
This is a gasoline powered car, it doesn't need charging stations. It charges itself in the move. If you drain battery dry hitting throttle hard and all the time , but it will keep moving on those generator 150 hp alone while trying to charge the battery. And don't forget the fuel consumption will be as low as Toyota Yaris.
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said… I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly and all thanks to Anita Jo Humphrey for her guide
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, I'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super
If you're impressed with this, go to Y.T car reviewers from Austalia,Europe,S.E Asia, etc. and check all the other different vehicles they can buy. I think if U.S car reviewers went to any Chinese auto show, they would have a multi orgasm experience. By the way this BYD Shark is by no means the best from China.
Rivian is for paved road just looking at the tires and design. Cybertruck I have no idea with the design and tires. BYD is for developing countries in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Middle East & North Africa where people like car / truck / SUV with stronger springs and more lift at the back. I am not sure why but it's probably because they like to overload their trucks and actually use the bed for cargo
If it had a bigger battery it would be so much better. And we don’t want the complications of the engine. Just build up our charging network and full bev will be so much better
Full electric pickups are great for anyone who does not tow, however those that need to tow would love to have more efficient options than ice only (also they have better torque and can take advantage of regen) . The Ramcharger design seems to be that happy medium to deliver power for longer ranges when towing but also have the advantage of a good daily commute distance on battery power only. Trucks should move to full electric drivetrains that have an optional range extender option. Personally, this design would be great. I tow a behemoth RV style trailer (8.5k pounds) 3-4 times a year but the rest of the year i just drive a V8 around a city to run errands, which is a waste of efficiency when compared to a BEV. The reality is that a vast majority of truck owners have a truck for a hobby or reason but do need it’s capabilities day-to-day. I am one of those people. If it wasnt for the RV, my daily driver would be something smaller and efficient. A BEV towing more than 100ish miles is also not practical. Towing my RV from Texas to Colorado with a BEV truck is not practical (time or number of stops). A gas range extender helps out a ton in this scenario. Until battery tech gets much better, gas or diesel still wins the energy density and weight war.
@@chriswilson7138 I totally agree your point of view. In fact I use BYD PHEV Tang SUV towing Fendt caravan in China. The dmi powertrain is similar to DMO of SHARK(same engine but horizontal, 21kwh battery) . The BEV mode at towing will consume 35 kWH per 100 km, comparing to PHEV mode 11L/100km. No charge infrastration will fit for such a higher electricity cosumption. Though every 50km there are fast chargers in Service area of the highway, it's inconvinient to disconnected.
EREV is a trend now for chinese manufacturers because not every location in the world have adequate charging infrastructure. the battery should be enough for daily commute, if more range needed, the generator kicks in.

When China comes up with a great product: "Yeah, let's charge 100% tariffs". 🤪

Hey guys! Excellent review! A few details about the Shark:
- That front bias you feel is because the front motor is 170kw while the rear is 150kw
- The motor will only charge the battery when it's below 70%. With the way batteries recharge, charge speed slows down between 70-100. The engine won't be able to put enough charge in the battery in that SOC range so it just doesn't.
- That plug ports are 3kw max out, but the V2L adaptor from the charge port COULD provide 6kw. It's not confirmed for the Shark but that is because this DMO platform can output on other vehicles
- The Shark is very much modelled off a Ford Ranger. So much so that Ford Ranger accessories will fit onto the Shark (roll bars and tonneau covers)
Looking forward to more videos on it!
I have a JAC T9 4x4 truck with all the equipment you can ask for, great truck and it is half the price of a Colorado ZR2; too bad you are not getting new gen chineese cars, they are killing It here in México. Been in Brazil for a long time, BYD are every where here! Seen some Uber drivers with 150k miles and zero battery deg, going strong. And for cheap
Zero? You sure? Did you look at the individual cells? Lol
@@AnythingUnderTheMoon not sure if they looked into that, but 150k and getting the same rated range. Im still a gas guy, but for city, and prices of gas here in Brazil, if they get 300k miles off the car, they paid the car off 2 times only on gas savings, pretty good I think
1:46 the engine can actually drive the wheels directly. There's a clutch that engages during certain conditions when it's more efficient to use the engine, like in highway driving for example
Build quality comments sum up the state of US car manufacturing. Tesla "OK" Rivian "pretty good" BYD "Exceptional"

Amazing BYD Truck!
BYD's latest technology is very fuel-efficient, which may make oil sales companies unhappy
It is rather embarrassing at this point. BYD and the Chinese are coming. They will find a way around the barriers we put up to keep them out. This truck should be a wake up call.
BYD hard as a rock, & on top by far!
I have a 2012 Chevy Volt. 12 years old! Same technology. Geez. GM should had put this tech in ALL of their vehicles.
It's not the same. Why are Americans keep saying that. Go look it up. On their youtube channel.
We are still waiting.
@@remix-yy1hs Perhaps not the same tech, but the same concept. Battery power for x miles then gas generator. Perfect. Love my Volt!
Because sales were crap
@@remix-yy1hsit’s exactly the same, the volt ICE acted as a generator that charged the battery which powered the electric drive unit.
BYD's "amazing" technology is how all plugin hybrids
should have been built already 10-15 years ago
My BMW i3 REX works on that exact principle, actually.
@@clasqm it's only problem is that the engine is underdimensioned, so it has to work at its highest most inefficient revs to travel at motorway speeds
There is nothing amazing about these junkers
Chevy volt has been doing that since 2011
Rhe nice thing about BYDs system is thst its an EV at its base, generator added in.
This is probably not the kind of a comment that you expected to read here, but I'd like to advise everybody, including Andre, to please wear their shoulder belt over their shoulder, so that it doesn't separate their spleen in a collision.❤
Glad to see the BYD Shark has come to the U.S.! American consumers shouldn’t be limited because of stupid politicians!
And politicians shouldnt be limited by greedy elites 😂

At around $50k that BYD pick-up does sound better than the other electric truck options if were to come to the USA.
price difference is crazy but i really really like the look both inside and outside of the shark. still feels like a truck and not a golf cart. and that plane inspired center console is so freaking cool. for 50k id go pick one up tomorrow

And now we know why 100% tarrifs lol. But keep in mind that Lotus & volvo which are saling there cars in US are owned by geekly which is also chinese
Guess BYD is a direct threat to the US auto industries
the BYD is what I want from a modern hybrid car, a BEV with a Genset.
I saw a clip of this truck literally floating in a lake with full load of passengers. The front end was almost submerged but it was advancing forward until it reached the bank and drive out. Not sure how real it was but that was damn impressive.
It was a BYD SUV called Yangwang U8. It's much expensive than this truck

Cool to see a production Chinese vehicle in the US. It really was basically exactly what I was expecting.
Great to see the BYD shark here!
The cybertruck is a different buyer type, and should be substituted for a Chevy Colorado, /Ford Ranger, or Ford Lightning in this compare.
I understand the tariffs to some point. Too bad we can’t have the Toyota Hilux, and too bad we can’t have the BYD shark. I hope USA eventually gets the 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV that is going to international markets.
I want to see the BYD shark on the IKE test!
The price for BYD is a steal compared to any other trucks. I would definitely buy one if they sell in the U.S.
The difference is: Rivian cost to build over 100K but sold for 70K. BYD cost less than 15K to build and sold for 40K.
You'll never know the cost of the BYD as it's financed by the Peoples Republic of China and that government lies about everything
How sad is that the 100k build quality is worse than the 15k build quality?
So made in US is even more pathetic😂😂
@@everbeever but didn't they just say that Rivian had the best build quality of the three trucks? They said they were surprised at the build quality of BYD compared to other Chinese built vehicles.
So the Chinese have taken Chevy volt ideas/technology and applied it to a pickup truck.
BYD could be Mexico's new V-dub for twenty years.
BYD and some other Chinese brands are about to gobble up massive amounts of global market share from VW, Toyota and others like Suzuki who sell cars and pick-ups in smaller markets and developing markets.
All of these legacy OEMs will start closing factories and shrinking soon.
You know why it’s on 100% tariff right? Lol
I love sand land, muddy land, and snow field. That would make a great BYD Shark T-shirt. If you know, you know.
😂😂😂 They have never mastered translation.
I believe Chinese companies excel at producing products that score 85/100 in quality, but at only half the price.
That was in the past, but it is no longer the case. They are getting better and better at high-value products, such as DJI drones, and more and more high-quality products are appearing.
@tonycanton5611 There are cheaper but better Chinese phones than Samsung.
American here. Anyone in Mexico wanna swap a Cybertruck for your BYD Shark? Please hit me up in the comment section

@ 🥱 yeah sure it is…
GM, Ford, Ram, Toyota, or Hyundai/KIA: A mid size truck with 8k towing and a 30 amp connector would sell.
SHARK full ev is planned, just no details or dates yet :(
Putting tarrifs, because you can't compete, is blatantly stupid.
This is why I’m waiting in the RamCharger. Will have ample EV range for around town and no worries about charging while towing on a road trip.
Who's who, I been waiting for this episode for a long time. Thanks 👍
What BYD is doing is just amazing, this Shark pick-up will put Ford, Toyota and Chevy to run for their money 🤑🤑
BYD growing up in Europe so fast
Holy crap I was expecting the BYD to be $60,000. If those sold in the US, it would dominate.
The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills
You trade with Anita Jo Humphrey too? Wow that woman has been a blessing to me and my family.
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
She mostly interacts on Telegrams, using the user-name
When you live outside of the US the only option you have is BYD.
What do you mean? Theres Tesla and almost every brand here in Mexico
@@JOFEGUBAAre they selling Cybertrucks in Mexico?

If it had a bigger battery it would be so much better. And we don’t want the complications of the engine. Just build up our charging network and full bev will be so much better
Until you build that infrastructure, for a working truck this is optimal solution.
