When the member's exclusive content came to MotorInc, I was concerned in the beginning. At the same time I can understand why MotorInc needs regular members support to keep their independence in doing honest reviews and giving good content.
@@motorinc Yes it does. The only change I would suggest is informing why you need this. Most of us are with your movement because we agree with you. I recently realised that MG as a British brand has a very strong emotional connect among many Americans and Europeans. But we Indians just love dissing the brand for being "Chinese". Now imagine people dissing brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, Royal Enfield for being "Indian"!
Keep in mind, Indian brands were dissed in the west just the same way. Let’s not be blindsided by bias. Anybody in the world doing a good job has to be recognised for it. Agree?
@@motorinc My point is not about BYD, which is an actual Chinese brand. It's akin to Tata, Mahindra selling their products overseas. My point was more on how American and European brands are being devalued due to their change in ownership. Ultimately my point was that we need to rise above petty politics and start appreciating products for their actual worth. So yes, I agree with you. 🙂❤️
Jaguar, Land Rover aren't developed in India. Their design, RnD teams are separate. They don't get their engines or platforms from Tata. MG is different. There's really nothing British about it anymore. All of their development happens in China and that shows.
Great video as always! The banter between these two is amazing 🤣 i would like to request you to grant access of old Motorinc firsts and views to non-members as I’m sure many of your viewers would enjoy watching them again!

I love combo of you both. You guys explain things well and in relaxed podcast kinda style. So I can sit back relax and hear everything in detail. Thanks guys. Also good thing you started Motorinc.
Hii, I have some of questions. Will BYD, Xiaomi invest in india in the government scheme for import tax cut? Will there be import tax cut on BYD, or Xiaomi from 100% to 15%? What is CIF value? How is it applicable to Chinese cars? Its mentioned that it will be applicable about 35k$, example - tesla cost about 40k$, so it will be eligible for tax cut, but what eill happen in case of byd? The seal cost around 50k$ in US and around 30k in china. Can I import BYD shark if in case they invest in india and have the benifits of import tax cuts and didn't launch the shark in india? How much depreciation I can claim for the business use? For evs and differences in IC engine. (For IC engine i believe we can claim depreciation of 15% yoy what % it would be in evs? What is the difference in gst claims of business of transport/ driving school/ second hand buy sell compared to other any businesses? What is the key difference? If you may, please calculate the value of BYD seal after tax cut, gst input and deprivation for years?
Awesome podcast... Trying to clear Kartikeya's confusion regarding the design 00:10:53 Design -> The Side Skirts design are Fins of the Seal and the White Stripes below the headlight are the white Whiskers of the Seal. BYD have literally designed an Electric Seal with Whiskers and Fins.🦭
It would take a Costner(d) to make sense of the value proposition brought on by BYD's Waterworld, at least for the initial years. But it's a great and confident product, one that steals some of that desirability glitz off that EV6. Lovely First Impressions, as always. Karthik's spontaneity, vim and eagerness to get up, close and confidential with a car, played off against Shumi's sard(i)oniq wit-this truly is top tier UA-cam. Keep this coming, guys.
I don't watch much automobile in these days, but in the morning I just watched the Activa video & avoided this video and went to class. When I was returning home & was riding my🚵♀️,a silent yet sporty car passed across me and waited in traffic,I was also waiting and read the brand called B Y D🤯,what a coincidence I mean the colour looks smooth fastback or coupe design looks perfect and you can feel a premium look, although it charges that much and now I'm here watched the FIRST IMPRESSION...❤Hope this BYD will make good products in future👏👏
I really enjoy listening to MotorInc this episode was no exception just want add a Feedback please add some background sound “it can be white noise or fan” because when there is pause between conversation it seems like i lost connection or video has just paused sometimes when it is a long pause i often stop whatever i am doing and open my fon to check if video is still playing.
BYD has been in India much longer than the E6. They have been selling their buses under Olectra brand, many states have been running these buses for quite sometime. I saw a documentary of the BYD city or something couple of years ago. If I recall correctly a lot of it is run on BYD tech. You guys laid down some hard hitting facts and I agree. It's all nice to sit and bash a company because its Chinese, whereas a lot of our everyday tech stuff is either Chinese or manufactured there. Something one has to understand, if Chinese products were a 'threat' to Indian companies, the govt wouldn't approve to sell them here, right? Also, Govt is very much earning from their products just like any other major brand, German or otherwise. Besides, Volvo too is owned by Chinese company Geely (but products are very much Swedish), I don't see people complain about that. Anyways, I think BYD is a very interesting car. When you say it delivers most of what its German rivals deliver (except the build and prestige of course), one must account for the fact that it is priced like 20 Lacs lower (I think you mentioned that, I haven't cross checked exact price). 20 Lacs is a lot of money! (may not be for someone who spends 50+ lacs) but that along with taxes make the difference even larger. So I don't think its completely fair expecting similar feel / finish / experience. Would I buy one if I had the money? No, but its not cuz its Chinese. Its because I wouldn't want to own an EV (Drive occasionally? sure) The aural and mechanical feeling from an ICE vehicle cannot be matched by blistering performance alone. So I will still consume the Dinosaur juice and will use it as long as it lasts. Thank you :D
Hello Mr Mys! Sip, glug, chug. Enjoy! We aren’t sold on EVs for the NOW. They are a luxury item or a tool. They make sense at two ends of the usage spectrum.
@@motorinc How is the charging infrastructure in India? I’ve seen a lot of EV reviews, but none yet on the charging infrastructure. That is a big hurdle to EV adoption I feel. I’ve been in the US for the last 3 years, EV adoption is higher in coasts and lower in the middle states. But it is definitely the future as much as I hate it. I would like to know how prepared india is in terms of supporting infrastructure, legislation for charging standards etc, because the US is also lagging behind in these terms. I feel the switch to EV will also shift global perception of brands and countries in a global context. Happy to see Mahindra doing EVs though!
9:43 Shumi: "Sorry, I completely interrupted your chain of thought." Kartikeya: "No no no, That's fine." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shumi (Internal Monologue): "Sorry, Not Sorry. Hey guys, whenever you review or cover the upcoming Pulsar-400 (N,NS,RS,F,AS whatever that may be) please do let us know if the Engine is from Dominar or the New KTM 390 or a completely new engine.
52:31 Yes Kartikeya, I do Maybe it's the fact that my Ather does bluetooth really good and the fact that I always have one side of my neckband always in my ear while riding coz driving 15+kms every day is pretty boring in the dense city traffic without some music & if my mom or dad or someone else calls my while riding, I can see who it is and pick the phone up and talk for a brief moment till I tell them that I'm riding & I'll talk later but yeah if you deprive me of the bluetooth I won't complain but I love to have that with me
I have absolutely no interest in the BYD Seal or any electric vehicle for that matter. But I'll always watch a MotorInc video because Shumi and Karthik are just too entertaining. Waiting eagerly for ThisConnect S2.

I hope UA-cam gives Chinese subtitles as many from China will be keenly watching this video. Interesting video as always. Is the roof falling coconut proof?
Well, UA-cam is not available in China. BYD could possibly access it through special means but they would rather have BYD India have this review be re reviewed.
@@motorinc In Bengaluru or around South India when we park cars some times in street, we have coconuts falling from the coconut trees. Just great, listening at 3am. Although one thing I disagree with is Chinaaa angle. If anyone wants to spend their 50 lakhs its their choice, but hey, there are other brands which are equally good and where money doesn't end up with country which actively works against our interests. Do ur part. I will.
If someone buys BYD seal, huge chunk of the money will go to our Indian Government (150% Import Duty, GST & Cess), so the money is also going to our Government to actively work against the Chinese, the remaining amount will be used to pay the local Government like electric bill, water bill, property tax to run the manufacturing plant, then comes the salary of the employees working with the company in India, who are 95% Indians, our Govt will again earn money in the form of Income tax from all those employees...! Then comes transportation, and finally Showrooms which again are all operated by Indians...again Govt will earn from them also...! The only money going to China is to BYD who manufactures this cars and their parts suppliers...! So you see, 60-70% of money stays in India...and our Government will earn 500 times more than the Chinese Government...!
Loving this end to the weekend. BYD really giving Tesla a run for their money in the US , although they donot have the super charging network . One of the brands to watch out for ! Irrespective of its origin
These BYD cars are very good. Honestly the performance and features they offer at the price, makes them very attractive. Do you know that the Famed Tesla doesn’t even have those hand holds for passengers which are usually positioned above the windows? Well, was that an oversight or just a bit of El Cheapo? Having sat as a passenger in a few BYDs in India and abroad and having test driven their Atto3, I would say their quality is very good. And these new age manufacturers can hold their own with the traditional big western brands. EV Technology is a great leveller. And fit, finish and finesse is no longer the exclusive preserve of the big Western Brands.
What happens to the glass roof in the likelihood the car was to topple ? Any shatter protection or ways to avoid that glass reaching the passengers and causing them harm?
It's laminated glass, every manufacturer uses it, even if something happens to it, it doesn't break, only bends...and even if it breaks, it breaks into small rounded pieces...you can walk bare foot on it and still not get hurt...!
Hi! Shumi.. please recommend Top 3 commuter 100-125CC for city and highway use. I might have to do a 100km daily so fuel economy (Real world not ARAI) is also important. I do plan to use my Interceptor for fun few times in a month.😅
please a request. motor inc keeps mentioning rtr 200 4v make a video on it. especially on engine smoothness, service and why one should buy or not to buy.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
BYD makes fantastic cars for the price. If BYD was available in America they'd easily have taken over Tesla's market share. I like that the viewers of this channel actually have mature point of views rather than just saying "chinese no buy" like Ive seen in other channels. Here in kathmandu previously Nexon Ev was selling like hot cakes and even now it will be one of the most common car you'll see on the streets here. But nowadays every new car I see on the road is a BYD (the atto 3 and dolphin mostly). As the value proposition is simply too good. I personally am excited for the Seagull to arrive. That car would be perfect for a place like kathmandu, might take the market by storm. I am not that big of an EV fan but I think EVs make the most sense in a place like Kathmandu.
Great impressions. Just to confirm, there’s no trailing throttle in the AWD model? What do you mean by the acceleration has a build-up to it, is it like a short delay?
There is an initial lag when we push the pedal (even if we floor it) , I feel it’s better this way otherwise the acceleration on the performance model is scary. I loved the performance and booked it but later changed my mind to the premium one for the range. Hope to get it tomorrow on 11th aug.
That rate my summary conversation 🤣 in the last was 😅 This conversation makes me comfortable about range of an ev car great stuff let everyone compet with each other so that we get a good product at good price 😊. Oh sorry SHUMIS RATING ON SUMMARY IS 10/10❤
The Seal looks more like Sony's Vision S (Now Afila, name could've been better, after Honda/Sony partnership). Seal's specs are great. 1 hr episode. Nice. 😸✌️

Excited to see how Mahindra shapes the experience with the facelift, the only thing lacking from the 1st gen!
Umm so I am about 6'2" and have a broad physique, so naturally I have limited options for a car where I can fit in. I am looking for something that is a good driver's car, and on a budget (15L at max), 3XO seems like a good bet. I have driven XUV 300, was quite impressed with the drive however the cabin experience was average at best. Any thoughts on that would be highly appreciated and extremely helpful.
Can you guys please guide me if should I buy an electric vehicle? My daily run is about 50-80kms depending on my work schedule for the day. I've a parking space so I can plug it over night. My main concern is I want a vehicle for more than 10 years. Maintenance should be nominal and my budget is 12-15 lakhs I know it'll give just entry level car but I'm okay with Hatch backs and smaller cars. I don't care about gadgets and gizmos. I just want a reliable vehicle and long range.

I will join the membership in salary week and cut off some unnecessary spending each month. I have been itching to uninstall food delivery apps. This is the perfect reason.
Man, Shumi. Your smirks always send me off the edge.
😆
Hell yea, for the, Thisconnect S02, Whoo!
💪💪
I recently realised that MG as a British brand has a very strong emotional connect among many Americans and Europeans. But we Indians just love dissing the brand for being "Chinese".
Now imagine people dissing brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, Royal Enfield for being "Indian"!
Keep in mind, Indian brands were dissed in the west just the same way. Let’s not be blindsided by bias. Anybody in the world doing a good job has to be recognised for it. Agree?
Brand from a nation competing with us is ok
Brand from a geopolitical enemy that shares border with, I don't think that's intelligent
But mg is literally geely vehicles with their own styling while re and land rover actually do their r&d in other countries
The banter between these two is amazing 🤣
i would like to request you to grant access of old Motorinc firsts and views to non-members as I’m sure many of your viewers would enjoy watching them again!
Hey AL, thank you for sharing the encouragement and suggestions. 🙏🏾
Atto 3 review is required
it would be great to hear about it
also EV6 is wholesome superb car....
Thank you Pandeyji! Noted!
Not sure if someone else commented - but the Eau Rouge is from Spa Francorchamps, Carousel is from the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and the Corkscrew is from Laguna Seca
They did already! And thanks once again!
Wow, this is what a review is. Why are u guys not up in the million subscribers club. Top work by Kartikeya and shuba sir.
Thanks Hussein!
Team Motorinc, it's an earnest request, please please please keep the motorinc first impression videos available for all, please don't make them members only.. 😢 it was 30th April 2023, when I subscribed to this channel and ever since it's been always on the top of my watchlist. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hello TPR, thank you for all your time and your feedback! Wait it out a few weeks, and let us know what you think then!
@@motorinc Please yaar, remove that membership only thing from the previous First Impressions videos like that of the Triumph 400's, Duke 390, etc. I love the podcast and I love the channel but this monthly payment stuff is painful.
Lovely conversation...thank you guys!
One question...when you say "these are things you get from experience..." and "this is expertise that you just can't buy...", then how did Tesla nail this in a very short period of time?
1hr of motorinc first is one happy hour for a car guy!. Good stuff guys :D
Thanks so much man!
I love combo of you both. You guys explain things well and in relaxed podcast kinda style. So I can sit back relax and hear everything in detail. Thanks guys. Also good thing you started Motorinc.
Thanks so much for the kind words @Smart.Potato!
Eau Rouge - Spa
Carousel - Nurbugring
Corkscrew - Laguna Seca
Wow! You really work on feedback seriously, love for motorinc grows ❤
Awesome podcast... Trying to clear Kartikeya's confusion regarding the design
00:10:53 Design -> The Side Skirts design are Fins of the Seal and the White Stripes below the headlight are the
white Whiskers of the Seal.
😁 Thanks for the review.
You both are the MotorMonks , absolutely love this new format, the stingy but on-point sarcasm of schumi, the in depth analysis of singhee.. ❤
Glad you enjoy it. Thanks so much M!

This discussion is so good. It’s more enlightening than church.
I'd love to see an episode of MotorInc where you two discuss the history of lobbying in the Indian automotive industry. Cheers

Whenever a new new vehicle is launched, I wait for this review. Like always good presentation from both of them!!!!
Glad you like it! Thanks Naveen!
@@motorinc
How is the charging infrastructure in India? I’ve seen a lot of EV reviews, but none yet on the charging infrastructure.
That is a big hurdle to EV adoption I feel. I’ve been in the US for the last 3 years, EV adoption is higher in coasts and lower in the middle states. But it is definitely the future as much as I hate it.
I would like to know how prepared india is in terms of supporting infrastructure, legislation for charging standards etc, because the US is also lagging behind in these terms.
I feel the switch to EV will also shift global perception of brands and countries in a global context. Happy to see Mahindra doing EVs though!

Shumi: "Sorry, I completely interrupted your chain of thought."
Kartikeya: "No no no, That's fine."

The first Hyundai Sonata in India.. inspiration from so many cars..
52:31 Yes Kartikeya, I do
Maybe it's the fact that my Ather does bluetooth really good and the fact that I always have one side of my neckband always in my ear while riding coz driving 15+kms every day is pretty boring in the dense city traffic without some music & if my mom or dad or someone else calls my while riding, I can see who it is and pick the phone up and talk for a brief moment till I tell them that I'm riding & I'll talk later but yeah if you deprive me of the bluetooth I won't complain but I love to have that with me
Alright SC. Good to have your take.
I have absolutely no interest in the BYD Seal or any electric vehicle for that matter. But I'll always watch a MotorInc video because Shumi and Karthik are just too entertaining. Waiting eagerly for ThisConnect S2.

Interesting video as always. Is the roof falling coconut proof?
Hullo Neeraj! Thanks! Coconut test? Hmm…
Well, UA-cam is not available in China.
BYD could possibly access it through special means but they would rather have BYD India have this review be re reviewed.
@@motorinc In Bengaluru or around South India when we park cars some times in street, we have coconuts falling from the coconut trees. Dried coconuts from towering trees have ocassionally being crashing on vehicles out of the blue. Some ill-fated individuals have had their cars and bikes damaged by coconuts. 🥥 One will go nuts, oh sorry coconuts if that happens and damages the huge sun roof. 😆
guys the top spec has lower range as it has all wheel drive thats why so you have more motors and yes the compnay is giving 8 yrs of warrenty, battery cost is 30% of total car value or something
Hey HV! Thanks for pitching in!
PLZ Please give reply..I am confused between N250 and CB300F. Please advise which one should I buy?
Hey Akash! Did you get test rides on both?
@@motorinc I haven't ride N250 but I took ride of Honda CB300F it's a very good bike just suspension is stiff. I got to know that N250 has wobbling and stability issues at higher speed. So that's why I need an expert opinion.
We didn't have wobbling/instability on the N250, Akash
You guys a doing a great job…just 1 suggestion…when you are comparing with other cars and models…to make the content more engaging and contextual for the viewer.. put the relevant image of the car you are speaking about the the view/ attribute you are describing which have been done either better or not so good. Will take a bit of video editing however will be great for the viewers.
Thank you for the suggestion @archilies100
This is off to a hilarious start 😂... Sundays are awesome again... With the heatwave can't go out or anything and I know a new episode from you guys will drop... Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks S! Have an awesome one!
Agreed! Definitely worth watching out for.
Don't worry until it blows up.
Shumi's urban planning degree exprience came in while discussing on speed breakers
Hullo AK! Perfecto!
Hey SB! Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts!
What happens to the glass roof in the likelihood the car was to topple ? Any shatter protection or ways to avoid that glass reaching the passengers and causing them harm?
It's laminated glass, every manufacturer uses it, even if something happens to it, it doesn't break, only bends...and even if it breaks, it breaks into small rounded pieces...you can walk bare foot on it and still not get hurt...!
shumi's sense of humor is awesome
🔥🐦🔥
Did you miss the 3.8s moniker on the rear? It's flexing the 0-100 km in 3.8s!
I'm wondering how many parallels you will be able draw from BYD and Xiaomi.
Plenty huh? Read to buy a Xiaomi car?
Hi! Shumi.. please recommend Top 3 commuter 100-125CC for city and highway use. I might have to do a 100km daily so fuel economy (Real world not ARAI) is also important. I do plan to use my Interceptor for fun few times in a month.😅
I suggest to keep that money in the bank and use it for fueling the interceptor.

We would like to do so as soon as possible. Test bike wait ongoing. 😃
Hullo FS! Great to hear about Nepal! You have some great options there! Thank you for joining in the conversation!
idk if its too much to expect but active raisable suspension system will make the car a complete premium package
In what scenarios do you think it will be useful @Chrisadam0208?
And one last thing does it the app suite that Tesla or even Tata has in its Arcade.ev?
Love what BYD is upto. Can’t wait to see more desirable, grounds up & competitively priced EVs coming to India..! Competition wins..! “Aane do..!”
If they are allowed to.
Great impressions. Just to confirm, there’s no trailing throttle in the AWD model? What do you mean by the acceleration has a build-up to it, is it like a short delay?
Hello KS! Nope. There wasn’t. But it had a slight (very, very) lag when accelerating.
There is an initial lag when we push the pedal (even if we floor it) , I feel it’s better this way otherwise the acceleration on the performance model is scary. I loved the performance and booked it but later changed my mind to the premium one for the range. Hope to get it tomorrow on 11th aug.
That rate my summary conversation 🤣 in the last was 😅
This conversation makes me comfortable about range of an ev car great stuff let everyone compet with each other so that we get a good product at good price 😊.
Oh sorry SHUMIS RATING ON SUMMARY IS 10/10❤

Also, eagerly waiting for the Mahindra's XUV 3XO's first to drop! Excited to see how Mahindra shapes the experience with the facelift, the only thing lacking from the 1st gen!
Thanks AT! That means so much to us. Anything in specific you want us to check out or know about? Let us know!
Thank you so freaking much for this one.
You're very welcome Pranjal! Thank you for being with us!
For 50-80km an EV is a slight stretch. If you must, why not get a CNG instead? Many more options. If not just stick with petrol power.
@@motorinc I was planning for Hyundai Venue diesel, just wanted to explore my options. CNG is also. I'm thinking just to save money and buy an used Brezza Diesel AMT because I'm okay with AMT and diesel will give me a good milega. Your thoughts?

Also yall forgot to mention that it has a heads-up display so does it have the quirks as well?
