That old Bentley is ONE HELL of a car - but I'd always be terrified of something breaking. A neighbour i knew, bought an old Rolls Royce (for only about £6K, i think) tons of luxury & lovely to drive - but it had many age related problem (all minor - but too expensive to justify fixing)
Me and my friends have all run cheap conti's from 2004-2010. They are surprisingly easy to live with as long as you go into it prepared for 2 things. 1: 15mpg is a good day. 2: 5-10k a year on running costs / maintenance is normal. Be happy if you save on that. If you're at peace with those things then I highly recommend a cheap conti.
@ A more serious answer is insurance, fuel, road tax, 600 quid service (2 grand or more for major), replacing a few parts and you're easily over 5 grand a year. I had to do suspension work and engine work. I think the receipts came out to 3.2k for that with an independent.

I would love the Continental GT from 2006 (which is also my year of birth). This in my opinion is the most classy car of the 2000s. I really want one.. Except for the maintenance
I own three Volkswagen Phaetons which share the same platform. As long as the previous owners took care of it and you can maintain it yourself, these are absolute bulletproof cars. My W12 has done 283.000KM and still drives today 💪

back in the day, when my kids were small, this was a great motor to cruise about in but you should also look at the screen which shows two smaller seats at the rear than in the front
For a bit of reference, with most people guessing in that 50-80k figure. They think youre driving a car worth about as much as a new BMW 530d. Which is a level to aspire to but I dunno if thats one I want to

The Bugatti Veyron by design didn’t have a large tech screen in it as the new that would age it so they used classic dials instead. And it worked, interior still looks cool now. Shame Bentley didn’t do that.
I dont think anyone's ever bought either one of these cars for alleged reliability, maintenance costs, or anything else. You only buy this kind of car if you have fuck you money rolling around regularly
In my Phaeton computers were flooded and they were acting out. If that conti is same check if the drain above the gearbox is not clogged with dirt and leaves. With a clogged drain a pool is created there and that's where the engine brains live. Worst case scenario you need to copy data to new controllers
When I saw this old Continental GT many years ago for my own eyes late evening in the place I was living I thought it's BATMOBILE, such a beautiful car.
My very first new Bentley, fully loaded (most were included in the buy price) was £105k GBP. That was 2004. How an earth can the mk3.5 cost almost triple the cost? German owners having a rory I'd suggest.

Does brake test comparison really make sense when you have old crappy tyres on the old car? They are not limited by braking power but by grip clearly.

2 hours labour to find the engine problem £1300 pound. So £650 pound a hour. Can’t think why some garages get a bad rep.

This dyno shop doesn't even have a fan cooler in front of the car , of course it wouldn't perform well, and will cause the engine to overheat
There is an air vent in the wall, which might have replaced the cooler fan

For 10k you cant get one in Continental Europe. You have to pay on the Continental for a Continental 20k+
