I'm a huge Roland VDrum fan, but they need to really work on getting a more realistic tom. I've recently abandoned the internal kit sounds of my TD-25KV and now just use it to trigger Superior Drummer 3, which sounds much much better. I'm sure Roland will get there eventually, but I'm still hearing the same weakness out of today's brains that was present in the brains from 15+ years ago with respect to the toms.

Pearl have the mimic pro with steve slate samples, with high quality, but the module is not so easy to use and it's not plug and play like the Roland drums. It's sad because if Roland create a edrum with superior drums samples inside, it would be invincible....

I have SD3 SO THTS GREAT IM USUALLY NOT A FAN OF A MODULE SOUNDS. ESPECIALLY ROLAND. I HAD THE TD 20 when it was the flagship 2008¿? I’m going to convert my Mapex acoustic bd. I don’t like the kick tower in the new 27 kits. I like your sound editions. I’ll buy what you produced for thr 27 so far. I like the acoustic edition. You normal sound editions too.so the kvs27 or vad503 or the strikei pro se. I want the digital snare and ride though

Yes, the Strike is garbage. I owned a DM10 for 3 years followed by the Strike Pro for the last 2 years. It's a piece of junk. Triggering is garbage, pads wear out, I had one cymbal just die on me completely. You get what you pay for. I'm upgrading to the Roland TD-27 and will never buy another Alesis product again.
I just heard about TD27 modules having issues with the hi hat choking. and doing weird things. and they say its a known issue with the TD27 module. do you know about this ?
I'm impatient to hear the Drumtech sound libraries for the TD-27 ! I have a TD-25, for which I find the original sounds are not so natural, and the number is too limited... I bought 2 Drum-tech sounds kit for it which sounds very nice. Later I will probably go to this TD-27, but with DrumTech sounds !!!!!!! and why not with an interested part-exchange from Drum-tech ? Thank you for your professional work and keep it up ! ;-)
@Bill Perri totally true. The 27 is awful. I just boxed it back up after messing with it for 2 hours. Drum tec packs did not help at all. Sounded just as bad as the internal sounds. Wasted $50 on that. The 17 is a million times better sounding. If you need to change shells, heads, and mic placement, you need real drums, lol. Just ordered a second TD17 to augment my first. 4 additional inputs? Now I’ve got 10.
Hey Jerald, Live Sound Edition coming up soon/next! :) For any further product info, please get in touch directly through info@drum-tec.de, kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Great to hear about the Live Sound Edition. You did a fantastic job with the TD-17, really brought it to life. It sounds so much better than a stock TD-17 or this TD-25.

Thanks Marcelo! In this video I used a "small" setup with 2x 10" and 1x 12" tom pads + 18" bass drum. You might also get 10, 12 + a 13" floortom, which plays a lot nicer & more realistic though: www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-02kv-v-drums-kit?number=1010606 Kind regards!

What do you prefer? The drum-tec Diabolo series kit or the Roland VAD506? I'm honestly leaning towards the Roland looks wise. But what's important is playability.
Hi, sorry for the delayed answer! (YT is missing some notifications). The diabolo series Real Feel bass drum especially is much more silent & realistic to play compared to the KD-200, which basically is a KD-10 kick pad mounted into a 20" shell. Kind regards!

Thank you Gianfranco! That depends on your individual needs actually. If you do not need the more in-/outputs & faders of the TD-50 for live for example, TD-27 might be the right module for you. Hi, no this is a Roland TD-27 sound module, so you would have to exchange the sound module first off. Then the Alesis pads are not 100% compatible with Roland, so playability won´t be as good as with 100% compatible pads by drum-tec or Roland. Kind regards!
@@88omarz No, it´s impossible to make sound presets of a Roland module available for an Alesis module, they have completely different oboard sound/fx/trigger engines. Kind regards!

id like to ask the person playing in the video, what's his opinion, as someone who's actually played the kit, what he thinks of the samples and response quality.
Hey Simon, Roland sound modules have "state-of-the-art" triggering & playability, there is simply nothing that works better (sounds apart). If you combine a Roland module with a nice set of drum-tec diabolo/pro series electronic drums like we did in this demo (for most realistic playing feel, rebound etc), it´s as good as it gets with an electronic drum kit honestly :) if onboard sounds are not enough for you, you can always use your midi out & trigger great sounding external sound libraries, such as Superior Drummer 3, SSD5, Addictive Drums etc. Kind regards, Ralf
Seems like they have a lot of the same features but the td50 has individual ins/outs whereas the 27 has a cable snake. Also the td50 has faders for every instrument
Roland V-Drums are developed to MODEL drum sounds and do not in fact use samples. The samples taken during development are reverse engineered using modeling algorithms to recreate them using the fundamental sine waves of all the elements of an instrument. That’s why you can literally edit everything. Samples could never do that.
If the basic sound is shitty no editing will make it sound better. The modeling approach might have been good 20 years ago. Bu now memory is so cheap that any module can have plenty of it.

Hi Ralf, I’m a fan just one of many in the drumming community. I try and see what you’re doing in your fills am I correct in dating I see a lot of 1/16th note triplets common to what we call here in the USA “ gospel chops? I se flams and 5 stroke roll too. What does your favorite fills contain if you don’t mind me asking? I love the DrumTec kits. The ATV CYMBALS AND THE AGEAN LV CYMBALS ESPECIALLY THE JAZZ DARK LIE WITH THE 20” fife and 13” hats great “ chick” sound. I like the sound edition packs. I’m considering the Roland VAD503 right now here. I like the td27 sound pack. I just listened to it. Can I buy that SD CARD. and load it myself?if I buy this td27 kit I’ll let you know. The only thing that looks wonky is the bass drum with the tower in it. That doesn’t look right. I don’t think I’d like the feel of that. I have a pair of Axis x longboards they might not work well with that tower. I might have to replace it with another bass drum.that will be costly. Perhaps I’ll covert my Mapex 22” using the Roland conversation kit
PLEASE PLEASE READ 🚨🚨 Question?? IF I buy this Module will the SNARE SOUND SAMPLES WORK ON MY ROLAND PDX ( TD17 Snare Pad) ????!? I UNDERSTAND the Snare and Ride are USB DIGITAL- But IF I Plugged one of the Tom Cables to my PDX and choose Snare Samples does it ALLOW YOU TOO??? Does the TD27 allow you to make Toms ( SNARE SAMPLES???)
So, I literally just boxed up to return one that came this morning. There was not one useable kit in the whole thing. And yes, I messed with the mutes, tuning, etc. I even downloaded a drum tec pack that absolutely did not sound anything like the video. I use drum tec packs in my TD17...and that’s all I use. They’re awesome. So I really don’t get why this thing sounds so much worse than the 17...$1000 I spent, plus the $50 on the DT pack. I read a few reviews that did say it was a different sounding unit from the 17, especially the cymbals...and this is true. They sound very artificial. Idk....very disappointing. So I just bought a second 17 for half the price.
The TD-50 sounds sooooo much better than this and it’s years older. Is it just a matter of “you get what you pay for”? Or is it Roland has made huge steps forward in their hardware but not in their software? I’ll take the kit without the module. Will you sell it that way Roland?
Hi & sorry for the late answer, you can get any Roland/drum-tec/ATV kit/pad/module configuration from www.drum-tec.com & we ship intenationally :) Kind regards!
What the heck! I'd say these kits sound better than the TD50 (I own one). I'm sure you can make all of these sounds from scratch... But it would be nice if roland put out updates on a more regular basis for current TD50 owners. I'm pretty sick of most of the TD50 sounds and stick mostly to SD3.
Agreed 100% :) Have you checked out the drum-tec Sound Editions for TD-50 already? www.drum-tec.com/vintage-sound-edition-roland-td-50-download www.drum-tec.com/metal-sound-edition-roland-td-50-vol.-1-download Kind regards!
I really can't understand how is the sound of new modules is almost as bad as 20 y.o. modules. The more we have almost free memory for samples now. They can't even do random samples for repeating notes. This is very very very bad for 2020. No innovations at all.
Roland has never made a good snare sound. Ever. Even this td 27 sounds über-plastic and in my 30 years of drumming I`ve never heard any acoustic drum sound like any of the Roland counterparts. Most other brands are dealing with vst-quality sound in 2020...-Wth is going on at Roland? Roland, the new Kodak of electronic drums? Its a petty, because the quality when it comes to hardware and durability is unmatched.
@@drumtecTV So if want to buy a brand new car and need space for your drums and the salesman says: "Just buy a trailer, if you need more space". The whole thing here is: It would have been so much easier to use live AND at home. And my point with Roland not following the trend of the edrum marketplace still stands too. Btw: I have owned a bunch of Roland td`s over the last 15 years and nothing has ever broken, ever. Not even a cable. So if the could make some vst-modules in the future it would be perfect. See my point here? :) AND to drumtec: A little critique of the actual drumkits are meant to keep a conversation going in a fast evolving (nowadays) edrum world. ITs not the channel im critiqueing;) And to Martin: td10 sounded awful, the td50 sounds as awful only pimped with layers of plastic;)
Roland have been disappointing. They need fire whoever has been creating their sounds. For that that price, it's a horrible sounding module. I've played $500 Carlsbro kits that sound better. Roland haven't done anything new other than rename their modules and change the module design. Other companies have caught up and will eventually overtake Roland. The only good thing is the TD-17 right now.
You're absolutely right, I've also heard cheap kits that sound better, roland sounds too digital nowadays and the sounds aren't real - and for that price??? Hectic. THE TD - 17 is deff better.
Incredible drumming. Love your style!

Did they use a Casio keyboard from 1987 to sample these sounds? just getting the lower end Roland kit and with the savings Superior Drummer 3.
The toms especially are BAD.
Do I need earphones or do all the toms generally sound the same on each setting and very weak........
You probably need earphones :-) monitoring through laptop or phone speakers won't represent the lower frequency range, you'll only hear the high end & attack then. Kind regards!
A part le 51 Custom World, les gouts de Roland concernant les sons de batterie acoustique sont déconcertant ! On est en 2020 ...ça sonne comme une batterie produite en 80 !
Sounds great. Did you make any adjustments to the indvidual drum volumes? Our drummer has one of these modules with a Roland V-drums kit, but his toms and cymbals aren't coming thru as balanced with the snare and kick like in your demo.
3:49 Studio B kit all night for me!
Roland released an update in July 2020 saying they added 10 new kits and reworked all acoustic ones, can you do a demo of those please?
Coming soon! :)
@Bill Perri Hey Bill, there's no dedicated video on those kits, but there are some sounds from this update in this video over here (names are in bottom left corner):

Hi Ralf I’m about to decide which Ekit I’m going to buy. Down to a new td 27 kit or alas is Strike Pro Se. Because of th r the of thr prices.
So for less expensive you have an alesis strike pro SE or atv exs 5 that sound a lot better ? Did Roland ever hear what a tom sound like ?
You could also pair a drum-tec diabolo kit with the ATV aD5 or a Pearl Mimic Pro modules if you like :)

ua-cam.com/video/wm7LOZB4IGw/v-deo.html
Kind regards!
The strike is garbage I own one. The exs 5 is good shit though!
I just heard about TD27 modules having issues with the hi hat choking. and doing weird things. and they say its a known issue with the TD27 module. do you know about this ?
wow so amazing love to paly the drums so cool
Thank you Alfred! :)
Thank you for your professional work and keep it up ! ;-)
Coming up soon! :)
When would the LIVE Sound Edition be available?
Also, when would it restock?
Hey Jerald, Live Sound Edition coming up soon/next! :) For any further product info, please get in touch directly through info@drum-tec.de, kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Great to hear about the Live Sound Edition. You did a fantastic job with the TD-17, really brought it to life. It sounds so much better than a stock TD-17 or this TD-25.
Great extensive demo! Roland should be thankful ;-) Although VST's sound better, the TD-27sounds are much better compared to my TD-12 brain... Great playing by the way!
Thank you very much! :)
Hey guys! Great video. Ralf is a great player.
What sizes are the Diabolo Toms used in this video?
Cheers! 🍺
Thanks Marcelo! In this video I used a "small" setup with 2x 10" and 1x 12" tom pads + 18" bass drum.
You might also get 10, 12 + a 13" floortom, which plays a lot nicer & more realistic though:

@@drumtecTV Hey Ralf! Thanks! That is what suits me best! 10+10+12. Cheers!
I got a question but its not about the Roland TD-27 module, I would like to know where I can buy those great looking photowall red brick wall, that you have on your wall?
It’s not wall paper but something called brick slips ie about an inch of real bricks stuck to the wall. Always look cool. Check out where I got some from at www.brickslipsdirect.co.uk/
when this set of sounds will be available for download?
The come with the module.
Hey Martin, this is the playing-all-kits demo of the TD-27 stock kit sounds. A demo for our new drum-tec TD-27 Live Sound Edition will come soon! Kind regards!
Stil not there yet

I have been playing virtual drums since it was born (1997), now have a TD 20 Expanded,
and i would like to know if the td 50 is really better than the td 27, j play
jazz, latin, brazil, ecc., sound...
and I need the best possible acoustic virtual series,
I think there are good ones in the td 27,
also customizable with samples?.....Very compliments to the drummer
Thank you Gianfranco! That depends on your individual needs actually. If you do not need the more in-/outputs & faders of the TD-50 for live for example, TD-27 might be the right module for you. And finally it depends which onboard sounds you prefer, you can check out several demos of TD-27 & TD-50 sounds for comparison here on the channel if you like. There are also drum-tec sound editions for both modules that you might want to check out:

I just wanted to know,

So what’s your opinion of the 27 now? Better then the 50 overall? Happy with27 Kv-S?. Th e price is right
Hey Greg, the TD-27 has all the great features (positional sensing, digital pad compatibility, enough trigger inputs) and is much more affordable than the 50. If you like the sounds, go for it! You can get it with the drum-tec Live Sound Edition as a free goodie as you probably know ;)
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-27-sound-module-incl.-live-sound-edition
Kind regards!
Are these sounds possible on the Alesis strike pro. Would be awesome if we get them. This thing sounds awesome.
Hi, no this is a Roland TD-27 sound module, so you would have to exchange the sound module first off. Then the Alesis pads are not 100% compatible with Roland, so playability won´t be as good as with 100% compatible pads by drum-tec or Roland. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV copy that, to clarify, my question was more of could you make these sounds for sale for the alesis kit
@@88omarz No, it´s impossible to make sound presets of a Roland module available for an Alesis module, they have completely different oboard sound/fx/trigger engines. Kind regards!
What is the cost of this configuration? Thanks!
Great playing!
Thank you very much! You can get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for an individual quote incl. international shipping if you like & refer to this video! Kind regards
id like to ask the person playing in the video, what's his opinion, as someone who's actually played the kit, what he thinks of the samples and response quality.
Does Drumtec have a comparison graph between this and the Roland TD 50 module with the differences?
Seems like they have a lot of the same features but the td50 has individual ins/outs whereas the 27 has a cable snake. Also the td50 has faders for every instrument
Adam Arb89 Thx
For a live situation which would you prefer the individual ins and outs or the snake out?
@@TrueBlueYou well, its safer to have individual cables. The problem with the snake is one broken cable and you need to replace the whole thing.
The snare lacks any crack whatsoever in all of the sounds demonstrated here. Great drummer though
Does the Live Sound Edition include the kits with layered snares?
Yes, the drum-tec Real Snares Samples are included, that are also used in the TD-17 & TD-50 Live Sound Editions! Video coming up soon... Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV That's a great news! Can't wait! Sounds will be better than TD-17's I think.
If this was 2000 it'd be great but 3000 is too much (I'm talking about the standard kit prices)
Hi ! what drumsticks did you use in this video? Tks

@@drumtecTV Team drumtecTV 👍👌😉
Roland V-Drums are developed to MODEL drum sounds and do not in fact use samples. The samples taken during development are reverse engineered using modeling algorithms to recreate them using the fundamental sine waves of all the elements of an instrument. That’s why you can literally edit everything. Samples could never do that.
Yeah, most dont realize any of this, they take this concept further than anyone in their synths too.
Excellent explanation 👍
If the basic sound is shitty no editing will make it sound better. The modeling approach might have been good 20 years ago. Bu now memory is so cheap that any module can have plenty of it.
That is incorrect. Roland uses samples in their modules like any other company.

08, heavy rockmsounds sooo dope
PLEASE PLEASE READ 🚨🚨
Question??
Good move.

Great drumming but the toms sound terrible. They sound like big plastic buckets turned upside down.
My td11kv sounds so much better than this. 😆
You guys are just jealous haters this module sounds incredible for $1200
Roland toms have deff gone down, too clinical and digitalised. Heck it all sounds too digital. 😊
Excepcional batera
Sounds Awsome...but the shells just look cheap!
Really, why? :)
why no demonstration of how the kit sounds to people who aren't hearing the speakers or headphones. like my Neighbors
Nice playing however these drums would sound crap with a average drummer!
;-)
Td25 sounds way nicer in my opinion
I really can't understand how is the sound of new modules is almost as bad as 20 y.o. modules. The more we have almost free memory for samples now. They can't even do random samples for repeating notes. This is very very very bad for 2020. No innovations at all.
The older modules were better.
Like always to much processing sounds...to much effects...
It will make illusion in family sunday
Roland has never made a good snare sound. Ever. Even this td 27 sounds über-plastic and in my 30 years of drumming I`ve never heard any acoustic drum sound like any of the Roland counterparts. Most other brands are dealing with vst-quality sound in 2020...-Wth is going on at Roland? Roland, the new Kodak of electronic drums? Its a petty, because the quality when it comes to hardware and durability is unmatched.
Just trigger a VST then. Also, they HAVE come a long way. Remember the sound of the td-10?
@@martymet Well spoken :)
ITs not the channel im critiqueing;) And to Martin: td10 sounded awful, the td50 sounds as awful only pimped with layers of plastic;)
this is one of the ugliest sounding modules i've ever heard. good god.

For the money you would expect better!
