Drumming & production by Ralf Schumacher
The Roland controller and the Drumtec drums are a match made in heaven. The Drumtec drums make the Roland seem so sophisticated almost like a conventional drum set.
Thank for your nice feedback Phil, very happy you like it :)

Came here for the sound demo, stayed for the killer playing. Awesome!
Thank you! :)
Phenomenal drummer
Thank you Shaggy! :)
your face during the fills of the Electro-Drum + Classic kit have me dying 🤣🤣
Hey Eden, man I only have this one face ;-D Kind regards!
- I’ve just bought the Roland TD-17 KV. I’m a beginner but this drummer is absolutely amazing !! I spent most of the video laughing at how effortless he plays. Mr drummer, do up have your own UA-cam channel? I’d like to hear more of your playing. Your playing is very much how I’d like to play ... maybe one day 😂
Hi & thank you very much :) actually I run this channel for drum-tec electronic drums. But there also is my channel "digtaldrumming" around here, which sadly hasn´t seen too much new content in the past months. Kind regards!
Just bough't a td-17 kvx and loving it! My first e-drumset, response is really excellent and the sample function really fun. Very nice playing btw.
@@williamperri3437 I bought one two weeks ago. The stock kits are really nice, I just noticed that you have to adjust the ambience setting here and there to match your personal preference. First, I was a bit disappointed because there are some electronic kits in there that I thought I'd never use, but they are actually fun once you play around with them. I think the sound is absolutely fine and I did not even try a VST drumset yet because the module has everything I had been looking for up to now.
it's certainly more aesthetically pleasing to look at. it's a placebo effect, but the drums even _sound_ better because the visuals convince you the sound is coming out of those shells lol
True
Finally a demo where some of the kits sounds actually ok.
Finally some of the Roland snares sound pretty good. Use to hate the snare sounds on my TD-20 module which I sold. Funny how some of the snares on this kit go up almost a semitone in pitch when hit harder. Can't say that I have ever heard an acoustic snare do that.
yeah i just bought this kit and im a little pissed about the snare sounds. The kicks are all like too much and the snares are not enough, and the toms are a little machine gunny when you play fast fills. The crashes are ok and the rides all sounds too light like there's no heavy rides. But all in all, I'm satisfied I guess.
I bought the kit to trigger BFD3 anyway.@@1rcproductions
Sold!! Damn amazing drumming! That module sounds killer.
Thank you Christine, those kit sounds you hear in the demo are part of the drum-tec Live Sound Edition for Roland TD-17, which comes for free with the purchase of a TD-17 module/kit directly from drum-tec:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-17-sound-module-with-live-sound-edition
Kind regards!
I kept watching and admiring Ralf's french-grip technique throughout - very nice control.
Thank you very much Tom! :)
Amazing what y'all are doing with these kit....wow
Thanks Ed :)
Excellent as always!
This is great drumming. Enjoy just listening.
Thank you very much! :)
live fusion and studio kits sounds awesome !
True. The Studio Kit is my default kit, it sounds so natural. I love this module.
Excellent drumming!
Thanks George! :)
I played one of these recently and I was pretty surprised by its sound quality, its actually quite nice. Some of the snare sounds are kinda really iffy though, it definitely takes some editing to get those snares sounding right. All in all, I would definitely chose the td-17 over the strike.
Hey Geff, absoluteyl right! Have you checked out the drum-tec Live Sound Edition & Real Snare Sample Package yet?

ua-cam.com/video/inGvyHLhk38/v-deo.html

I agree with your assessment. I own one. You really have to put forth the time in eq, muffle and tuning to bring out the sound.
What a drummer! I get motivated when i watch this, then when i sit down and play i feel like i can never play like this guy
Thank you very much, it´s all about practice & routine :) Kind regards!
Love the Ride Cymbal at 10:31 !!!
Great Drumming
Thank you! :)
God damn I always get blown away by the playing! Awesome! If Roland keeps making sounds like these for low end kits they could profit seriously! Now, I want to see what will replace the TD25. Nice demo!
Thank you :)
This just replaced the td-25. Not intended, but it did. Big time.
Patrik Milo well kinda. No positional sensing tho.
The td17 is a better module than the td25.
The next step up would be the td27.
Great drumset, even greater drummer. Besides, I seriously wonder how you managed to prevent youtube from completely fking the sound up
Great job!
Thank you! :)
Dark Hybrid was very cool!
Amazing Review
Thank you! :)
NIce playing!
Thank you very much! :)
My school e kit has this module it’s pretty nice tbh
Perfect🎶
Raf, Welldone. A question. Will the TD 17 pads sound this good? in other words, will there be noticeable differences between sounds with TD 17's own pads and when you use this DRUMTEC pads or ATV pads?
Kit #35 Rockin' Gate is my favorite
23 Second Line Kit was very Gadd like. Particularly the snare.. SG Crazy Army
Se for pra ter uma bateria eletrônica com certeza será uma Roland
I love all the sounds. This module seems to be very flexible in sounds, huh?
That's very different to what I heard 😂
Hey Jeffre, keeping in mind that the TD-17 is Roland´s new entry level sound module (replaces TD-11) & considering it´s price, I think it is a great module! Kind regards
I will be very happy if I have this electri drum 😍😏
You can get in touch through info@drum-tec.de for a quote or placing an order! :) kind regards
Some of those really effected kits like bottle, filter etc, sound like the underlying kits are nice, could you remove the effects on those kits, or are they in the samples?
Kit sounds great but dude... that's some serious playing and I really enjoyed hearing and seeing :) One question...does the playback volume when connected to external audio via bluetooth go pretty loud?
The Bluetooth is only available for audio input, not for output. Seems there's always a noticeable lag when you use bluetooth headphones. (I asked this at Drum-tec.com)
It is funny how much the basic snares are singing!
Is dampening them helps the situation?
Awesome video, folks! I would like to know how you configure the module for a 4 tom setup? I assume you would assign the pad type to the Aux input for a tom pad but how do you assign a tom sound that is lower in pitch, yet matched to tom 3? Great playing, Ralf!
Hey Curtis, thank you! Yes, basically you set up the aux channel´s trigger settings for your connected pad type & then assign a tom sound for every kit you want to have a 4th tom. You can pick the same sound/instrument as the third tom to start off for example & edit it from there (pitch/tuning, muffling etc). Kind regards!
Most sounded useable. A handful were Incredible! There was only 1 sound I did not like; and that was the high hat for dark beats "38" 14:29
Perfeito...
Gracias! :)
I'm waiting for my 17-kvx to arrive.
I’m getting ready to buy the Td27 Kv-S. What studio editions ca I buy from you? La Studio? Acoustic?thanks
Hey Greg, at this time there only is the TD-27 Live Sound Edition, which comes for free with the module/kit exclusively from drum-tec:
ua-cam.com/video/mO1ZXei-k6Y/v-deo.html
There will probably be more sound editions in the future, but it will take some time since the module is brand new. For any further info or an individual quote incl. international shipping, please get in touch through info@drum-tec.de. Kind regards!
Amazing drummer ! thank you for this Hi level and good sounding demonstration.
Would this module sound as good with the KVX pads ?
And are "user sounds" as well modulated as Stock sounds please ?
Thanks again ;-)
Thank you very much! The TD-17 sound itself would be "the same" practically. On the other hand, the drum-tec Jam pads feel & behave a lot more natural / realistic when playing, so the final sound result will be affected by this for sure. If you get your module/kit from drum-tec, you will receive the drum-tec Live Sound Edition + Real Snare Sampel Package with it for free:

DrumTec, you could ... make a video, teaching us ... calmly .... how to put the samples in TD17 ???? and in which site can we download the samples ??? Thank you !!!
if i buy the drumtec jam pad kit (just the shells) by them selfs is there a certain pad model in the td17 module i should set these pads to to work best or do they just work perfectly regardless.
Please use these settings for the best performance: www.drum-tec.de/triggersettings
thank you for the info!.. side question do your bundled kits come pre-configured to these settings?
@@BenevolentDick No, they do not. We do not open the module box before shipping it out, so the module is completely stock. Let's say you buy a TD-17 Jam set: We will put a note into the box to guide you to the trigger settings!
Roland td17 + ATV Cymbals + Drumtec diabolo!!!
That´s actually a nice configuration idea for one of the next video demos :) kind regards!
I have the Roland TD-17 KV-s Model with bluetooth connectivity and the rack mounted hi-hat, honestly it's not nearly as fun or as natural of a feeling to use the controller pedal in comparison to a hi-hat on it's own stand. Great playing dude, and this kit looks like a fucking dream. I might have to upgrade my 2022 TD17 components for a setup more similar to what's displayed in the video, that is if the module I have is capable of working with a designated hi-hat stand
Thank you very much! You can always upgrade to a VH-10 hihat, which is mounted on a hihat stand like in the video:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-vh-10-v-drums-hi-hat-new-without-original-box

nice playing! i´ve been thinking about buying an e-drumkit and Roland TD17KVX is a real alternative. However , in other videos i´ve checked here on youtube most of the drumkits sounds bad, specially toms!!! This video sounds quite good and different from the others...is there anything you need to know to get the best out of this drums? i mean, if you can edit sounds and equilize them i guess you can also get different and best results...did you do anything like that with the module?...cheers and congratulations for your video!!
Hi! We did not alter any of the kits for this video - what you see and hear is recorded straight out of a stock TD-17. We do however give away the drum-tec Live Sound Edition for the TD-17 with every module bought from drum-tec. The Live Sound Edition contains 11 custom kits and 9 snare samples. Check out the Live Sound Edition here: ua-cam.com/video/z5pwkFQAtQs/v-deo.html and the snare samples here: ua-cam.com/video/inGvyHLhk38/v-deo.html Find the Roland TD-17 at drum-tec: www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-17
Excellent mate! thanx!!
great demo, can you please tell me if the kits were tuned/muffled in any way .i have the TD-17 and it does not sound like this .
thanks
Hi Shlomi, the audio was recorded directly from the sound modules stereo output without any further editing. Just minor compression to increase overall levels, nothing more. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV And what compressed the sound?
@@Mad._Max What do you mean? Please watch the videos in HD to get the full UA-cam audio quality.
@@drumtecTV What turned the sound to sound so good
@@Mad._Max As said above, the sound from this demo is exactly what comes out of the sound module :) Be sure to use the same headphones/monitors & identical levels(!) when monitoring the demo & comparing to your own module.
Levels especially play a major role, as the human brain considers a sound to be "better", even if it is just 2dB louder.
You should also check your module's trigger settings maybe, which need to be set up appropriately for your pads & individual style of playing, so you get the full dynamic range & all articulations from the triggers.
Well and finally every drummer plays different stuff I guess, so there is probably no 100% accordance if you don't play the exact same things as in the demo ;-D Kind regards!
Newbie question here: as this module can import samples is there a site that anyone can recommend that sells say vintage snare drum samples ready for importing?
Hey Bob, if you get your kit/module from drum-tec, you´ll instantly get the Live Sound Edition & Real Snare Sample Package for free! :)

The washer under the HH controller seems very thick and soft (the controller moves up & down) ... Is it the one included with the VH-11 ?
Hi, no it is a standard felt, that was included with the hihat stand:
www.drum-tec.com/drum-tec-hs-921-hihat-stand-9000-series
kind regards!
Hi, great Module but not one time you are playing on the rim sides ?
this sounds awesome is there also a " appartment set" full mesh and small footprint?
Hey Maximus, the drum-tec Jam series is a full mesh kit. You can get a smaller configuration of the kit with only 3 tom pads. Please check out our website over here:
www.drum-tec.com/sets
Kind regards!
I understand that tuning and size are customizable, but is there a way to change the kind of cymbals you're playing on the TD17? I don't like how most cymbals sound very brilliant and tingy. I prefer dry/washy/trashy type cymbals.
Hey Matt, you can edit/customize every single sound coming from the sound module. The general sound quality of the main sounds will depend on the specific module though. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Okay. To clarify, though, do you know if there are cymbal sounds in the TD-17 comparable to extra dry or sandblasted cymbals? It just seems to me the vast majority of the sounds are, again, very lathed/brilliant sounding.
Just purchased the jam with the TD17 module because of the Bluetooth ability. Weird not available on the TD 25,30 or 50?
Hey Nick, yes the TD-17 actually is the first Roland sound module with bluetooth connectivity. Kind regards & have lots of fun with your Jam kit! :)
How do you like it so far Nick? Considering a similar setup myself.
Dude could make a wet blanket sound good.
Thank you Steven! :-D
Would you buy this or an alesis strike? The strike sounds much better imo
Hi, the Roland TD-17 sound module is way ahead in terms of triggering/playability. drum-tec Jam pads are being made in Germany & are 100% Roland compatible, while offering a very authentic acoustic playing feel & look. Please check out www.drum-tec.com for more info, kind regards!
drumtecTV are drumtec products permitted in the US? I was under the impression due to a roland patent they were unavailable.
Hey Ralf can I buy your talent instead of the drums? Heheheh. As always this was impecable drumming
;-D it's all about practice & routine, thank you & kind regards!
Why roland td17 internal kits sounds better than td27 kits?
is it possible to create original sounding kit in td27?
it's right what i have read that the ride bell is not so accurate, in some samples it doesn't sound... have you noticed this bug ? Someone tell that the sounds of the kits of the td17 are better than the kits of the td25... right ?
mega droberto you are correct in both cases - ride Bell sensitivity sux, had the same issue in td25, as for the module - some ppl prefer 25/30 sounds, others td 17/50, its personal
I own a TD25KV, you have to hit it pretty hard for it to trigger
It gets better after some time of playing, I think the rubber has to "settle" in a way :) making the bell a little more sensitive after some time. When it is new, you have to hit pretty firmly. Kind regards!
Why I am unable to play along songs with SD Card in TD17kv any help guys
Can I play live with these in your opinion say for like 100 people given that I've dialed them in etc ?
Sure, why not? :) I f you have an amplifying system that is sufficient for the venue. Kind regards!
Does anyone know if the snare sound on the TD17 Kit #1 is found anywhere on the TD27?
I don't know about the TD27, but as far as I know the TD17 has its sounds from the TD50 module.
Hi I have a puestion about this kit. Actually it's about td15 25 17 9
I know it has two trigger input one is crash2 another is AUX. I would like to know can its AUX input trigger as a crash?(chokeable)
Sure, these additional trigger inputs are always stereo/dual zone, so you can use any Roland compatible 2-zone pad or cymbal! Kind regards
drumtecTV. Ok thank you so much!
Wait so u can use different electronic drums with the module?
Hi, sure you can. All drum-tec electronic drums are 100% compatible with all Roland sound modules. You can find more info here: www.drum-tec.com/pads
Kind regards!
And they pay a guy to do this? WHAT A WONDERFUL JOB! (I'm sure there's more to it than that, but still, getting to demo a kit like this, all kits...YASS!)
Hey Carter, yes it IS a wonderful job, but aside from drumming it includes the complete recording / filming and editing process from setting up the kit & 6 cameras to the final media file export & upload :) so it is quite a bit of work in the process, but nonetheless a great job to work with an outstanding company such as drum-tec. :) kind regards!
The work seems practical. Good luck with future videos, and a Happy New Year to you!
@@carterelliottmusic Thank you! :)
You're welcome.
Super Filter!
If td-17 had positional sensing it would be totally amazing. Oh, wait...if it had positional sensing it would be td-50. So, would that mean that the price of positional sensing and more outputs would be around $1800? And no Bluetooth? Hmmmm, what would I choose, i wonder….
I may be mistaken here, but doesn't the TD50 have round-robin?
It’s ludicrous you don’t get round-robin until you pay $4000.
So what are the connections like on the module? I assume you're using all of them here, and it sounds like you're only using the ride as a 2-point? I assume you'd have to lose a tom (or crash) to make it 3-point?
Hey Charlie, the ride works as 3-zone (bell/bow/crash) by standard, TD-17 has the same trigger input connections as the TD-25. Kind regards!
🤝
which would you recommend, td17 kvx or strike kit?
Hey Tim, the Roland is way ahead in terms of playability / triggering / manufacturing quality in my opinion. "Sound" is subjective and hard to discuss objectively, but there are the different Sound Editions for TD-17 by drum-tec, and you can use the module´s midi out to trigger sample libraries as well. You might also want to consider the drum-tec Jam pads from the video in combination with the TD-17 sound module, perfect match! You can find it at www.drum-tec.com Kind regards!
how do you get it to sound so good
Hi, these are the stock sounds/kits of the TD-17 sound module recorded directly from the stereo output without any further editing. The drum-tec Jam pads play a big role in making the performance more realistic & dynamic though. If you are looking for more TD-17 sound upgrades, please check out the drum-tec sound editions:

Is the module on this same as the td17kvx???
Yes, it is indeed the Roland TD-17 sound module. Kind regards
They are still way behind the vst sounds.
Bora Kaplan hocam td17 kvx gibi modellerde bilgisayardan davula farklı sesler yükleyebiliyor muyuz, bir bilginiz var mı?
Yükleme olarak bilmiyorum da midi ile vst çalıştırabiliyor.
You can't really expect a 600$ module to have the >4GB of RAM, multi-core CPU and 250GB SSD needed to properly run Superior Drummer 3 and alike. The TD17 module is a great technological leap forward, tho. I doubt there's any equally prized eDrum module sounding that great on the market right now
@@joseffus5432 Very well spoken :)

is this kit still a go for an apartment or too loud?
Hey Siya, the drum-tec Jam series basically is as silent as any comparable Roland mesh head electronic drum kit. If an electronic kit is suited for your appartment depends on the general situation & construction of the house obviously :) but generally speaking, a mesh head e-kit should work well in an appartment situation. Kind regards!
that one is too loud, you should go for an accoustic drums instead ahah

Hi Thomas, sadly there are no brush kits. Even for the bigger TD-50, the availability of such sounds is almost 0. Kind regards!
Why td17 kit sounds better than t27???...In both are exactly the same samples(td27 has lots of more).
Hey Marcin, the TD-27 stock kit sounds have improved with the latest TD-27 firmware update. Some of those kits are featured in these demos (kit names in bottom left corner):
ua-cam.com/video/QPgPT25bsSQ/v-deo.html
It seems that some of the TD-17 sounds have more "punch" to them, but I guess it's all a question of mixing/editing in the TD-27. Kind regards!

I own a td17 and my kits don't sound this good obviously you folks are enhancing these kits for this video.
Hi Helmut, as always: the audio is coming straight from the stereo output and there is no further "enhancement". Playing, pads & trigger settings, as well as your monitoring situation can make quite a difference though. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV that's my point though you are changing the pad settings volume, sensitivity etc, this is why you should say the trigger settings are changed as a honest disclaimer.
@@DennisRivenburg-de4sg The trigger settings must be changed, because I was using drum-tec Jam pads in the video obviously, which need different trigger settings than standard Roland pads (which need different trigger settings each depending on their type too). This is nothing which leads to a change in sound, just neccessary for full functionality. The drum-tec Jam pads will deliver more aithentic playability than any standard ROland pad though, which might result in more natural dynamics & a more natural playing experience. Apart from this, everything you hear in the video still are the unchanged Roland stock kits which come out of the Roland module as always.
@@drumtecTV I understand now, thanks for that.
