  • When a survivor of child sexual abuse gains a better understanding of how trauma and the brain are related and how early sexual trauma affects the development of the brain, she can better understand how to heal from the past trauma.
One important element of understanding the impact of childhood trauma is to remember that both the brain and body are still actively growing and developing during this time. While our brains and bodies continue to change into adulthood, the stages of development during childhood are formative, meaning that our experiences in childhood will carry through to adulthood, and will consequently inform how we feel about our safety, relationships, abilities, our personal potential, and even ourselves as a whole.
At Saprea, we liberate individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. We have services that help child sexual abuse survivors find healing from the traumatic effects that have often followed them into adulthood, as well as resources for parents and caregivers to learn how to lower the risk of child sexual abuse in their own homes and communities.

I'm very old now. I am the survivor of childhood sexual abuse. It was from a friend of the family not a family member. I shared this information with my now ex-husband. It was used against me in a court of law. I found it rather unbelievable then as I do now.

It can't be your fault. EVERYBODY understands that touching someone's leg is stepping on theirs boundaries
