Do the work on yourself, because that's really what will get you out of your funk. Looking within yourself might feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar, but the ability to sit with yourself and feel your feelings and take responsibility for your wellbeing is what will heal you and make you feel more whole than you felt with that person. Feel the sadness, mourn the loss of that relationship, then when the sadness subsides enough start looking back at what that person brought to your life that you didn't have and seek to understand 1) why you felt that lack in the first place 2) how to fill that need by yourself for yourself. I love his point on compromise. Another perspective i heard is that doing those occasional things you think you don't want to do actually serves your deeper want to have a close, solid relationship. So if you change your perspective, you actually do want to do those things because you understand the deep intention behind them. There's definitely room to take that idea too far, but I think it's great for the smaller things.

My partner and I have been together for a little over five years and we have never yet have had a fight. In all this time we have had maybe two large instances that come to my mind where we have had misunderstandings that have left feelings of hurt but still never fell into a fight in those situations. I am so grateful we are so naturally calm and patient people and bring that into the relationship with each other. We never let small things become anything but what they are, small things. We may ask each other to be thoughtful of each others needs if we need to ask for small changes, mostly small behaviors around the home, but otherwise we give respect to the need for own personal space as well. :)

I really like Radhi's bubbly sunshine personality. Can light a room up. :)
My partner and I have been together for a little over five years and we have never yet have had a fight. In all this time we have had maybe two large instances that come to my mind where we have had misunderstandings that have left feelings of hurt but still never fell into a fight in those situations. I am so grateful we are so naturally calm and patient people and bring that into the relationship with each other. We never let small things become anything but what they are, small things. We may ask each other to be thoughtful of each others needs if we need to ask for small changes, mostly small behaviors around the home, but otherwise we give respect to the need for own personal space as well. :)
BTW how is it the two of you have the same eyes ;) such beautiful depth and color :)
