I am never depressed ever since I started to listen to Dr Omar Suleiman, I always feel at ease listening to him. May Allah Reward him and bless him and everyone in this world.

I was telling my husband the same thing. There is so much detail in his talk. I listened to Mufti Menk narration and I read the biography many years ago but this brought me to tears. The Sahana are our heroes, such dedicated, God fearing Muslims with beautiful personalities...may Allah grant us to meet them in Jannatul Fierdous Ameen
Truth has to be told though. At one point the prophet salla Llahu alahi wa salam distanced himself from the massacre actions of khalid ibn walid according to our own hadith.
There’s a video called khalid ibn walid- a profile of a warrior by an American professor. That’s where I first learned about him. I highly recommend it as it shows how much of a brave man he was in war. May Allah have mercy on him

But through Allah’s will I never learned about khalid ibn walid until this moment, either way there’s nothing bad as I now know his great life story. We learn some things early and some late, there’s no wrong in that brother.
Allahumma barik lahu fih He is one of the rare examples of true noble character I came across. The way he talks, smiles and considers others is definitely rooted in prophetic behavior.

Lessons learnt in this lecture from Sheikh Omar: 1. Excellent akhlaq, behaviour of Muslims when treating prisoners of war - Feed them as we feed ourselves - Clothed them as we clothed ourselves - With sincere benevolence 2. Even if the person is a current Muslim/Islam hater & actually killed Muslims (in this case at least 10 at Uhud) - Allah switch their hearts to love Islam brought in part by the truth of the deen and excellence of akhlaq, benevolence of Muslims who this person earlier hated - Muslims are never vindictive but ever forgiving for people who sincerely want to embrace Islam - They can continue to be best at what they do but in service of Muslims/Islam after reversion (conversion) - Be of excellent akhlaq, benevolence even & especially when in conflict after they become Muslims

When I first heard of Khalid (ra) and how he would win battles, I got the impression that at some point, the ppl who write Batman comic books must have read about Khalid (ra). Batman is written as a master of almost all martial arts. He's written as a tall, handsome man who is the son of the wealthiest man in the city he grew up in. Batman grew up with very little interest in anything other than training, sharpening his skills and becoming a master tactician. They write Batman as a human with no super powers who has trained to the point of being as strong as a human can be. Even the part about Khalid (ra) training the youth. Batman has a slew of sidekicks he trained to fight alongside him. Batman stories always involve him using diversion tactics to take out 10 to 30 armed thugs in a warehouse all by himself. Non-believers can't even imagine better heroes than the real heroes of Islam.
You do realise he fought against RasoolAllah for long period of time he never won the early battles for islam he was on the other side. He only change sides after the conquest of Makkah

Such a beautiful story! And Imam Omar tells it so well. We can’t even imagine being in those situations where our relatives have been killed by someone who accepts Islam. Our ummah can’t even agree to disagree on trivial issues. Do we even have the heart to accept someone into the deen who has personally hurt us?
I personally would, I believe we have so little time on earth to hold grudes. During hardships (which makes up most of a ones life) there is no time to look back, theres either you die where you are or you die moving on. And I think thats very beautiful. We are the only Umma who does not fear death, because only the evil who have wronged themselves and others do they fear death. Not to get off topic, but yeah religion is all about tolerance, if we do not tolerate with those who have wronged us (which majority of the time are ignorant about the truth) what is the point of carrying on the message of Allah. They are also creatures of Allah, if you truly love Allah you would forgive them, and let him compensate you for he knows whats best for you. 🤍

Khalid bin Walid (Ra’di’Allaa’hu An’hoo) was Sayfullah (Sword of Allah) - a master swordsman (in today's language, he was an Olympic Gold Medal Winner in swordsmanship). In today's time, we need “Khalid bin Waleeds of the tongue” and “Khaleed bin Waleeds of the Pen.” More strength to your tongue, keep it up, and may Allah (Sub’ha’na’hu Wa Ta’a’la) Reward you abundantly.
