Here is my first ever drive in a Tesla: ua-cam.com/video/ZhUEHS4k3-k/v-deo.html
can we take a moment an appreciate how well this mic actually sounds while driving. It cancels out background noise super well for such a tiny clip-on device
agree, it's incredible
Model s also has active noise cancellation.
😮 out of spec and Gjeebs. My fav 2 Channels ❤
Bearded Tesla Guy is number 1
I like how he points to how the PPF protected the rear door area…as he pointed to chips IN THE PPF. 🤣🤣
Those chips were above the PPF. I did ppf on most of my MYP and it already saved my right mirror from damage from a rock. I thought the ppf was so damaged that the paint would be nicked underneath but when the ppf was pulled off the mirror the paint was flawless even though the ppf was torn from the rock.
Thank you Kyle for loaning Gjeebs your car. I can't wait to see what you have in store for this evening...
Lube?
I owned a Model S LR for ten months, but never got fully comfortable with the button turn signals. The Model Y’s stalks are hugely better, and, while I loved the yoke on road trips, the Model Y steering wheel is much easier to use, although it’s less aesthetic. I thought I would miss the extra range, but I haven’t.
It's good to practice the new turn signals a lot rather than waiting to learn them while you're actually driving around.
The Model S is definitely roomy and comfortable. We miss driving our S100D. At the time we turned it in, we did not want to give up $115,000 to get the plaid. We have the 23Y on order and expect in March. Suppose we'll see the difference in luxury. However, your opinion matters. Thanks for reviewing this fine cult mobile!
I thought it was Kyle’s video when I saw the title. 😂 he makes good content, looking forward to the colab
You hit the nail on the head about the charging away from home. Tesla best quality is the Supercharging Network. I have owned other EV and the Tesla network led me to buy Tesla for Road trip charging. other than that, I never need the Superchargers.
Hopefully, that’s about to change with the $$ the govt is awarding through the Inflation Reduction Act.
@@jeffpicken5057 Tesla will be opening some stations in the future. It likely will be more expensive if you are not a Tesla owner letting people decide between an Electrify America and a Supercharger and adds a back-up if one is not working or is full.
I don't charge much outside of my area, but when I do, there's always the fear that the charging station will be crowded or not working.
Drove my Lexus for the first time after driving my 2022 Model S a whole bunch. I went to put the turn signal on the Lexus and hit the volume up button! Talk about getting used to the Yoke and the turn signal buttons.
Great cat here hood of ya friend out of spec to let ya have it n give ya take on his Tesla plaid s here . I would do extra paint protection n have it clear wrap PPF. Cool vlog here bro .
The guy who says that a vehicle isn't all about acceleration is the same guy who spent a month researching how much faster a K&N drop in filter will make his car, then puts the supplied K&N sticker on his window.
I like how the his phone wakes up when he floors it
Nice review!
Thank you!
What wheels?
Hey - Picking up my wife’s Audi Q4 Etron tomorrow. She hit a deer on 12/1/22 and it’s taken almost 3 months to get repaired. She also doesn’t know how to use a camera.
Lol gotta hand it to Kyle, dude actually drives his cars. That is one dirty ass Model S. Respect.
12:13 😂👍
Kyle is a good guy. His EV charging analysis is awesome..... You need to blast that car with HYDROSILEX !!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahaha I wanted to clean it but I wasn't sure if he was going to do a detailing video so I didn't mess with it
@@Gjeebs Kyle.....a detailing video?? hahahah ... LOL
@@theDougAngle They're have a detailing channel.
@@Superman-xr1oh I've seen enough of Kyle's roadtrips to know that he is not detailing that car for another 20K miles.... He barely even cleans the windshield LOL
@@theDougAngle Okay, they have a detailing channel though 🤷🏻♂️
MY I kindly ask ? What grey hoody ? Super colour…
Awesome Plaid in and out ,very slick elegant !!! Yeah the plaid is way way better than ugly Buick-Park-Avenue looking lucid , Also lucid way too expensive $189 plus tax and reg will be round $200K+ and way slower then Plaid ..... Also keep in mind why is Plaid is Superb is because letter on Elon can and will push more power over the air to the Plaid and it will go easy under 9sec like 8.5 Elon done this before with model S Raven !!
would you buy this or shell out more if you have a family?
I have a new 2023 Tesla Model S Long Range. I hope one day you can get your hands on the LR and give a review on it. Still a very quick car
Totally agree, I think if I got one I would get a long range
A Kyle and Gjeebs collab in the future?! 🔥
Love the yoke
I thought out of spec got his Model S ppf wrapped
Michelin tires are so gray-looking…..but, they really shine with some tire dressing.
Question for the cult: should you plug your Tesla in every night at home? I charge to 80% max at home, only going to 95 or 100% the night before an actual road trip of 200+ miles. But at home, running around town, lunch, groceries, etc, I only charge the once, then drive 2, 3, maybe even 4 days, till the car gets down to 30% or so, before plugging back in. Is this the way? I've seen where the manual and even Elon say "a plugged in Tesla is a happy Tesla", but does it really matter? Are there degradation issues with which I need to be concerned if I'm not charging to 80% every night? I'm not looking for pat answers, but real world experience and examples of why or why not to plug in every night. Carry on Ben, always great content. 2022 MYLR just got in March 2022. Damn, missed out on all the new incentives. : (
I do the same thing you do and I am not sure what the answer is to this. Interested to see
@@Gjeebs at 50,000+ miles it seems like it's been working OK for you. I'm never getting rid of my Y. We're in SoCal, so traveling up and down the state in a non-issue. Love our Tesla!
I don't since i don't have a charger. Just rely on supercharging about every 10 days or so. Minimal degradation in year and a half
I've been daily charging to 70%- 80% everyday for the last 4 years in my M3 SR+. I've read numerous opinions on the best practice for charging and battery health but I'm not sure what will be the best solution in the end, so I just plug in everyday like Tesla recommends. Obviously there are many ways to reduce the rate of degradation in the battery and even though daily charging routines are a part of the process so is limiting exposure to severe cold temperatures, hard acceleration, supercharging constantly etc... in my 4 years of ownership I've lost about 8% of my range so far.
@@briannedry5346 Wait! Hard acceleration is bad on the battery? 😱
I have yet to drive a Model S, but I disagree with your comments about the quality of the Y. Based on my experience test driving a Model Y last summer, while I found the technology impressive, I found its attributes as a car to be subpar in its price range. Stiff suspension, uncomfortable seats, and an over-reliance on control via the touchscreen. I'm glad that you like your vehicle, and I'm sure that many share your high regard for the vehicle, but I was disappointed. Perhaps I need to try again and see if the car I drove was an anomaly.
Also, I think your comments about the CCS charging infrastructure are overblown. There certainly seems to be some serious issues with Electrify America in particular, but you make it sound as though it's virtually impossible to go anywhere in a non-Tesla EV. Numerous road trip videos in ID.4's, Mustang Mach-E's, Lightning's, Rivians, et al would be evidence to the contrary. The charging network that Tesla has created is incredible, but I'm confident that the past and recent CCS troubles are going to be increasingly a historical "remember when" situation within the next year or so.
Criticisms of the CCS charging infrastructure should be applied in order for things to improve, but there's no value to overstating the situation. To generally say it's easier to road trip in a Tesla is true and valid. To generally say it's impossible to road trip in a CCS EV is exaggeration.
His CCS comment is 100% correct. Same situation in Norway, which has a really good CCS network vs the USA. The rest of the networks are nowhere near Tesla. Tesla blows them away. CCS has at peak times long lines (as there are not enough chargers at one location), broken down/unstable chargers, horrible app payment vs. plug and play, etc.
CCS comment is true. I own a 2020 Audi Etron SB and I will not think about taking it on a trip ever again, I’ve had some awful experiences with the third party charging network. I always take my S on trips. Shame on the legacy automakers that haven’t put any thoughts into installing reliable chargers.
How was the ride of the Plaid’s interior for rattles and squeaks? Kyle has said many times on his channel talks about the creaks and rattles in the interior.
yea it did creak a lot and the reason I didn't mention that is because I thought that was from the accident it was in. After talking to him he said it had always been like that
@@Gjeebs my Plaid had a slight creek when I got it. I took it to service and they said they had to tighten the rear seats, ever since then it’s the most silent car I’ve ever owned.
If it rattles and squeaks that just something they have to fix at service. Why Kyle hasen't gotten it fixed is beyond me. I would never accept that my Model S Plaid rattles and squeaks.
Cool ride 👍, not sure I could get used to that yoke though. 👎
I did a test drive and was surprised to learn the yoke didn't bother me much. Maybe I'd start out with a yoke and then consider changing to round later.
If you want to experience what true luxury and craftsmanship looks like, lucid is a no brainer. Lucid infact has more experience in racing that Tesla will ever have.
They'll need to stay afloat first.
@@SpottedSharks same like tesla has to stay afloat yes? And lucid has Saudi backing man, so that is Least of their concern.
Are you a gamer Gjeebs? Twitch?
I have a twitch it's just Gjeebs I play Halo, Fortnite, Forza Destiny
Yap yap
Cool Review but survivalis the wrong word. It's all about growth. They're still a new car company (est:2012).
Giving customers a lot of customizations options would hinder that growth.
Ugh... that yoke peeling at 3:45 on a $120k car after only a few thousand miles. That does NOT scream quality. It makes it feel super cheap and disposable.
TFTC
When you have a lucid that goes over 450 miles on a single charge the “how you will charge it” question does not exists. EA is good enough, plus tesla in a year will open its network for all EVs.
No one can bridge the gap between tesla lovers and tesla haters because they are the same extreme shouting at each other lol. I have a friend who assumed I must love EVs because I was so positive, but I reminded him I'm always enthusiastic about technology and have no brand loyalty to any of these companies what so ever.
Imagine having so much money that you can just buy a $140k car with white seats and say screw it my dog is gonna walk all over this crap
🤣🤣🤣 right , that's wild
Pretty good review overall. The only thing I disagree with is that Tesla needs to "survive". Tesla now has the best balance sheet, highest profit margins and lowest debt of any major automaker. They're absolutely killing it! The simplification helps them scale faster to meet demand.
If Tesla had a bunch of different options when customizing their cars, it would definitely be a problem. They have to keep their assemble line simple and cost affective by offering as little options as possible.
Gjeebs is right.
I test drove a model 3 performance and was really impressed by it. Biggest problem for me is how a Tesla looks inside and out. A BMW M car with a aggressive stance, seats and interior design is just more appealing to my eyes regardless of gas or electric power. There is not a single 2 door electric sports car on the mass market to add to my point. I see these plaids on the road all the time and don`t take a second look. That`s large part of the problem with the enthusiast in my opinion.
So Musk found out the hard way that an actual steering wheel needs to be available. Evidently many owners haven't gotten used to it. Tesla "simplifying" yet replacing turn signal stalks and a center-mounted horn with tricky to find little buttons and full self driving issues are turning simplification into complication.
I've driven a bunch of EV's, I haven't found one I like yet. I'd rather drive a Lotus Elise, S2000, Miata...not fast but so much fun. The sound, the feel, the tossibility, the connection. The isolation from all off that is bad enough in most modern ICE cars, and EV has taken that to a new low....
Yea an EV will never replace that but for a daily commute there is nothing better. Sitting in traffic with a manual transmission is awful
You are wrong about why Tesla is doing what they are doing. The other companies are what’s hurting. Tesla is doing it right (even if they are new.)
If Tesla had a bunch of different options when customizing their cars, it would definitely be a problem. They have to keep their assemble line simple and cost affective by offering as little options as possible.
Gjeebs is right.
wow how can you let your car look so bad inside.
That car looks like S in a diaper - the tempest wheels look better inmo- his wheels look like the crap that they always have in stock at Walmart - Martian 👽 wheels 🛞 yea ok Martian
Absolute piece of junk. Watch for dents protruding from the roof, frame indentations. Not covered under warranty. Sold mine
I hit the dislike because you pretended to have an accident in the intro (and it was fake). I also dislike it because you said that gas cars are just as good as electric cars. Combustion engines are obviously obsolescent technology at this point.
Obviously you are in the minority because only 6% of US sales are electric. 94% of the country thinks that EV'S are CRAP. Good luck with changing your $30,000 battery in 15 years but that's ok because the 8 year old kids in Congo will just dig you out some more cobalt for a new POS EV.
I dont get this pholosophi... You like EVe but you also love lung cancer. Thats some hard mental gymnastics there.
Nothing hard about that, they both have their purpose
@@AshwinLB He's seething because Gjeebs isn't on the all in EV mentality
