Driving a Model S Plaid is extremely fun and there is nothing quicker I just wish they were put together better. Because of how the hood latch is on this car the hood had been bent by a previous renter and this is a known problem by Tesla. The paint was also blotchy in areas. These are monitor discrepancies but need to be addressed at some point.

I agree with you about the steering wheel.
Ever done a review on a Charger Hellcat? I'm in the Phoenix area and just upgraded from a scat pack to a 22' Hellcat. Would be interesting to see your thoughts on it.
Love the video editing in black and white plaid !!!
nice shots - awesome intro
Great video. Plaid power is undeniable.Congrats to you and your wife on pregnancy. You need the Model S Plaid if your a dad. Praying for you and your crew.
Excellent review. I have a 2022 Model S Long Range on order. You've addressed many of my concerns. The Model S is a terrific car for road trips. I currently own a 2020 version. The Model 3 is a better vehicle for around-town daily driving, fun to drive and easy to park.
Love the humor! With great content🙌
19" S LR lovely for road trips.
Best about this channel is that its raw!
All the filtered content sucks!
Great content! How did the black feel in the model s compared to the white in your Y? Any preference?
I really don’t have a preference I like them both
@@Gjeebs congrats on the kiddo! With car seats, would you advise the black or get the white and deal with the upkeep?
So glad you reviewed the Plaid. Sounds like a cool car but that yoke steering wheel reminds me of the controls off an X-Box toy. Like why? LoL Great review 👍😁
My ‘85 Jeep CJ7 not had the speedometer in the center so technically not a “heads up display” - what’s the big deal?
"You could definitely get a torso in there".....hilarious!
5:00, you should find a new Model 3/Y, the suspension has been upgraded since ~April to be more soft. You were not the only one complaining about a too stiff suspension.
Teslas are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. How in the world could anyone buy a used Tesla and know what features it has or doesn't have, which manufacturing tweaks have been applied or not, etc? Is there a guide, where you can enter the VIN and it returns a list of the features that were available on the day/month of manufacture? The complete lack of version control has some advantages by introducing improvements quickly instead of waiting for model year changes, but the slipstreamed changes make it nearly impossible to know with any confidence what is and isn't in the car.
A majority of Tesla Plaid buyers get them for one thing....they are the fastest cars on the planet (a caveat here that I should mention is other European cars that come fairly close to the Plaids performance usually cost at least double the Plaids base price, and the Rimac Nevera, which is about a half second faster than a Plaid, last week was certified legal for all countries safety requirements, will only have 150 models made and
costs $2,400,000 before options!) that you can buy from a manufacturer that you don't have to spend an additional $20-$30K to modify them to still be slower than a S Plaid. AND for you folks that agree and have interest in speed rather than how far we can go on a charge, or how much your Teslas will be worth 3 years from now, or the minor fit and finish issues that are always mentioned by Tesla haters, and are usually taken care by Tesla when mentioned when you buy this Model, this will be right up your alley! The TOP LINE Lucid Air offers 1,111HP, while the Plaid offers a supposedly 1,020HP, BUT there is a UA-cam video that has a Plaid on a 4 hub dyno that develops 1,101HP STOCK from the factory. The Plaid also weighs approximately 400 pounds LESS than the Lucid Air, and averages between $20,000 to $30,000 Less than the advertised $179,900 than the Lucid costs DEPENDING ON OPTIONS CHOSEN for each car.
Last month a Tesla Model S Plaid in Napierville, Quebec set the new record for the fastest quarter-mile time for the electric sedan at 8.83 seconds and 161mph.
The Model S had a stripped out interior for weight savings, as well as SV104 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag radials at the rear and Michelin PS4 tires on the front.
Not content with the blistering fast time, the same Model S Plaid has set a new record this week. At the same track in Napierville the Model S crossed the line in just 8.77 seconds at 162.55mph (261.60km/h), a 5.67 second 1/8 mile time and an outstanding 125MPH to 162MPH time in 3.1 seconds!!!
As for what changed that allowed the car to go faster this time the owner, TMC user mulot30th, said there was an additional 60lb weight saving over the previous attempt due to someone else being behind the wheel on the run.
Additionally he said there a slight change to the suspension.
“Main change is suspension geometry change (slight) which reduce “tire drag” a little bit at least that is what I intended to do with that and have worked,” he said.
Interestingly, the top speed at the end of his quarter mile run of 162.55mph is inches away from the electronically limited top speed (when not in Track Mode) of 163mph.
As first told earlier this week, Quebec-based Ingenext was able to hack their way past that limiter and reached a top speed of 216mph (347km/h).
As for this Model S Plaid, the owner says that while the car does not feel like it is slowing down when crossing the line, he feels there is not much room to improve beyond 8.77s with the current setup, but a BIG brake option available from Tesla and several other Tesla specific after market parts dealers at a much reduced price, and TOP OF THE LINE HIGH SPEED RATED STREET TIRES should also be used!
You can check out the record runs both of TOP SPEED and FASTEST QUARTER MILE time on several UA-cam channels
Hey Gjeebs, can you link the 0-60s for the plaid with the mode comparisons? I must be blind.. not seeing it in description or listed on your video list.
My bad here it is: ua-cam.com/video/oMtCDWweMII/v-deo.html
Also updated the description
@@Gjeebs Thanks! Love the vids and humor!
I just seen your car on the road you are driving the pink T it’s supper cool and I found your UA-cam because you put it on your car.
Glad you found it!
I would absolutely love to go from my myp to a s plaid! Here's hoping that I can do eventually.
I believe!
@@Gjeebs 🙏🏾💪🏾
Hi Gjeebs. Re the cameras and PPF, I was misinformed and therefore my question no sense but the sensors do! So six sensors (not cameras) at each each end. Apparently, the PPF will either have template cut holes or the holes are cut when the PPF is firmly fixed. Now that I am making sensor sense ... you knew all this😀
I love my model 3 performance!
My dream car. Come on powerball. I went to the safeway in Surprise and bought a couple mega, power, and pick. One of them is going to get me my very own brand new plaid. Yeah baby!
It does not matter what car you get, you could get a Yugo and the videos would still be hi-larious….maybe not a word but you get it. 👍
From everything I've researched about the Model S old and new, I don't yet know the difference between the Model S 100d and the current Model S Plaid. TBS, we've had our S model 100d for 3 years and have everything great to say about its luxurious interior and ride. Maybe you can work that experience into your upcoming blogs: Old version v. new plaid. Thanks for your reviews!!
Good idea!
If your Model S 100D is an early 2019 and does not have the Raven adaptive suspension that allows you to select various comfort modes, then that would be one difference you would notice in the 2021-22 refresh versions of the Model S. The adaptive suspension is much more forgiving when driving over bumps, like railroad tracks. The 2021-22 refresh takes it a step further with improvements to the suspension design and a 300 lb. reduction in vehicle weight. A major change for 2021-22 is the interior, detailed in this video.
Ha, you blurred out the license plate in one part of the cinematic vid but not the next
That things a BEAST ⚡️🚗
The long range is no slouch either at 3.1 secs and you save around 40k. The wait time is horrible though. This is for that extra clout though 😂
There are 1000’s of Teslas being delivered every week. I know because I live close to a Tesla service center and watch the car carriers one after another deliver the vehicles. For your benefit make a video congratulating these people and offering them info about their new EV. You most probably will get more subscribers. The service center near me is so busy that it’s hard to comprehend.
The M3P is a nimble car and a lot of fun to drive. As much as a plaid is fun to show your friends, I think I’ll stick with the M3P. The Plaid is definitely a rocket ship for the extra terrestrial.
5:00 .. the suspension on the Model Y is superb now.
*gjeeebs it does NOT need a better tuned suspension*
the ride is better than the X5 with adaptive dampers that it replaced.
It’s equivalent to any sporty SUV I’ve driven.
(It’s not quite as good as an E Class or a 5 series… I agree. But not many E Class or 5 series saloons blast to 60mph in 4.2 seconds ……)
Gjeebs I think you’re 5’ 9.5” and I will stand by the until an official measurement is presented.
I’m 5’4”
Gjeebs is deadpool but if he was obsessed with teslas
Hey Gjeebs you around tomorrow? (Saturday)
I won’t be. Headed out Sunday and busy all tomorrow unfortunately
@@Gjeebs np Gjeebs catch ya next time ⚡️🚗
The plaid is indeed rad. Having drove both the model 3 performance and the plaid model s, the model s plaid acceleration is time warping, mind bending, defying the laws of physics. Aside from that, the model 3 performance is fun around the turns as it is more nimble. For the price of the model s plaid, you could get a model 3 and also a model y too. Just something to think about when spending $140,000 for a car. As you stated, the model s plaid is a lot of car for the price point. The interior felt luxurious and the tech would hold up well with over the air updates. I see it being very relevant in 10 years too. Good review Gjeebs!
Appreciate you watching all the way through!
New? still have the old tail lights
As for steering wheels, my new ‘22 Corvette C8 has a rectangular, squarish wheel which, turns out, IMHO, is the best form between yoke and round wheels. It combines all of the positive features of a yoke(like visibility) and a round (better handling, grip, and control) wheel. I absolutely love it!!!. That’s the play. Wait till you try one. Thx and all the best! BTW, been waiting for my MY LR since last January and it’s out till October. Like my new vette they are also made of obtanium. Greg.
I have my S for over a year. The Yoke is fine. as a wise man once said "you get used to it". I love it. Best car I have ever had. Do I miss the sound of a V-8 or V-10? I do but the performance makes up for it completely. I want the horn to be back in the center and I would want the right turn signal on the right side of the yoke and the left turn signal on the left. I love looking at my S, I love the sound system and I love the utility and performance. The 3 is probably the best overall looking of all Teslas but the S is really a timeless design.
Saw few Berlin made Model Y Perf. reviews. Seems like Germans really know how to make comfortable suspension
I’ve been in a Y performance recently and it rides nicely
How much better is the Plaid then a 2018/2019 Model S? Great vid.... Keep the jokes going!
They ride about the same the main difference is the infotainment is just so much better
In mid-2019, Tesla released the Raven version of the Model S and Model X. The most profound change in the Raven was its adaptive suspension system (separate from air suspension which only controls ride height). The adaptive suspension is much more forgiving on bumps and can be set to various driving modes, from Comfort to Sport. This adaptive suspension has been carried forward to the 2021-22 Model S and Model X, both Long Range and Plaid versions.
Buy it. You deserve it.
Wish I had the money to buy this vehicle, just an incredible value for the tech and sheer power this has. Yes Tesla quality isn’t great but Tesla is good about fixing anything that could be wrong. Good review though
Just save your money and splurge for the new roadster whenever it drops.
HECK YEAH DUDE 🤟😂😂😂
Came in hot on this one
Model S
Model 3
Model X
Model Y
hehe nice
Gjeebs is built rad but still bad… 😉
I'll rather take a Taycan 4S any day. It costs $25000 less than the Plaid, it's much better built, it will retain it's value much better than the Plaid, and it drives much, much better. And it's still fast enough. Much faster than the Plaid in turns....
But that charging network though...
Super review ! Yep … anyone who buys a Panamera should call a nurse …they must be mentally ill.
I have the car buddy. It’s stable at 150mph plus. You need to put suspension in sport /stiff mode! There is a video around of one doing 216mph with software limiter hacked and removed. It’s limited because the brakes are not up to par on the car. It’s scary trying to stop the thing from those speeds. The stock brakes such and just have no bite. That’s the worst thing about the plaid. Inadequate brakes.
I think we all need more microwave content.
Zero excuse for build quality issues in a $140,000 car, but as long as buyers let the company get away with them, why fix them?
Exactly, the more rejection the company receives the more they’ll look into it. I think it’s unacceptable that people give Tesla a pass so they can have their car now and for that price! SMH
The car is still a bargain, THATS why no one cares
The only upside of the Plaid is its insane performance which gets old pretty fast. The interior is nothing special and falls quite short of anything close to luxury in its price range. Build quality may have improved slight but it will most likely earn you several visits to the service center after delivery... that is IF you're able to get an appointment! For these reasons I'm GLAD I got rid of my S Plaid.
And on the flip side I love my Plaid and the performance has not gotten old. I am fine with the minimalistic interior and the quality and feel, I do need to go to the service center and have an appointment. I need an alignment; the roads are a cruel mistress in spots out here in Colorado.
Hot car but much worse looking with black seats
First!
I'd rather flush $140k directly down the shitter.
Hahahahaha at least gamble it away or something
If you bought an S Class it would depreciate way faster than the Plaid, but you would at least have an S Class.
