    Got my 21 MSP Jan 1st 2022. Absolutely love it. 15k miles in, no issues. I’m a huge car guy, so I can’t just give up ICE. I have an 08 C6 Vette to scratch that manual+wonderful sound itch.
    But if I had to pick 1 car and 1 only, I’ll always pick the Tesla. All my buddies are broken down for the season with their 800-900hp cars, as expected from abuse. While I’m still non stop launching over and over and 4.xx 60-130 passes all day long.
    At this pace, I’m confident I’ll end up getting a new Roadster.

So getting a Plaid seems like a great way to have fun yet not have things break all the time. Plus I'll still have two gas-powered cars so ill have some engine noise should I choose.

    Agree with your assessment of issues. I have the MSLR and it is my 3rd S and the best by far. A number of things I would like to see changed or added that you didn’t mention. 1. The ability to change the instrument cluster display like you could on the older S. 2. It would be better if they could put the blind spot monitor on the Left and right side of the instrument cluster when you activate the turn signal (Don’t know if this is possible). 3. I think cars should have an on star type feature. If you get into an accident you may not be able to grab your phone to call 911. 4. A good birds eye view monitor. 5. A camera or sensor located low on the front grill. I have had a few occasions when pulling into a parking space the sensors can’t see the concrete block which scraped the bottom of my front bumper.
    Sorry for the long laundry list but wanted to throw them out there.

    Model S Plaid owner here. I got about 10k miles on mine and can confidently say that this is the best car I've ever owned. Daily driving it every day to work and I still can't get over how insanely fast it is, but yet how comfortable it drives. The biggest flaw is definitely the horn. I've gotten used to the yoke and turn signal buttons but the horn button is just awful. I've been in situations where it can almost be dangerous not being able to quickly and instinctively mash on the horn when needed. Only problems I've had with the car are the fake leather on the yoke peeling, which apparently will be replaced with warranty, and the creeks/rattles. Back seats rattle and can sometimes be heard by person im on the phone with on the car bluetooth. The side mirrors rattle when opening and closing the doors as well. Only maintenance cost was for tires but only because I just upgraded to aftermarket wheels. Stock 19 pirellis had plenty of tread left at 10k miles. Great car and review overall and looking forward to hearing updated reviews with more time/miles.

    I have a 2019 MS Performance. Had a similar issue with rattles from the back after 20k miles. Had my wife drive while I got in the back and found the rattle coming from the far right rear even with the seats down. Scheduled service and they heard the rattle on a test drive but couldn't locate it. They kept the car for a week and finally fixed it. The invoice mentioned multiple test drives with a technician in the back. I am totally impressed that they would spend that time and effort to fix a rattle.

    Ryan, excellent review. My 2021 blue model S long range has 10K mi and I love it. Much older than you, my body can’t handle the G-force of Plaid so LR was sufficient.
    My local SC kept the car two days to fix the rear seat rattle and it cost me $78 in rental fees. Sadly, they failed, but TMC forum suggested a quick wrap of Velcro tape on metal latch and that solved it.
    I concur with all of your complaints, but why hasn’t NHTSA demanded a recall on the horn? This IS a major safety hazard. The center airbag cover should support a large, easy hit horn button. I am forced to drive with my right thumb resting near the tiny horn button. A few times I’ve “palmed” the entire area to sound horn. I wish the right scroll wheel adjusted AC fan speed as I change that frequently. Taking eyes off road to adjust it on display is a nuisance so voice command is my solution.
    While my 2017 blue mS was great, the mS-LR is significantly better.

    I took delivery of my 2021 Model S LR September 2021. It had one defect, which was on the outside of the lower left corner of the yoke it had a light grey scuff mark. As I didn't wish to have the entire yoke replaced I thought I could live with it. However, the scuff got larger and longer with time. Tesla replaced it and I thought I was good. A few weeks later I noticed a NEW scuff mark in the same location. What the hell? In time I discovered the scuff was caused by my shorts lightly brushing against that point of the yoke upon entering and exiting. I've since repositioned the wheel to avoid contact. However, as many people ask how I like and I let them sit in it, they ALWAYS comment on the CHEAPNESS of the yoke covering for a $100k+ car. And I can't really defend how cheap it looks. Currently I'm attempting to find a fix to covering the light grey scuffing so it doesn't look so CHEAP and off putting to those who are interested in buying a Tesla. I'm not willing to pay for a new yoke, so I'm not sure what I'll end up covering it with. Aside from that this is the best car I've EVER owned and I absolutely love the yoke and would never go back to a round steering wheel.

    The "Keep until " is actually a button (albeit a very, very tiny one). Tap that after changing the suspension height to high or very high and it will stay at that height until you exceed the "limit speed" for the suspension height at which you're set.
    And yes, being able to raise and lower the suspension is one of the best features of the Model S/X (vs. 3/Y), although it is maddeningly inaccessible and difficult to use. It's even worse on pre-refresh Model S/X, where it now (with v11 software) takes no less than _SIX_ taps on different, little places on the touchscreen to simply "raise to very high and stay there until I tell you otherwise".

    You have not had those rims on a plaid, right?

  • @Libertas_P77
    @Libertas_P77 Рік тому

    The plaid is a completely unnecessary option. The base is the same speed as the Model 3 Performance, which I own and is already stupidly quick for all forms of driving off track.
    I’ll consider a Model S or a Lucid when I upgrade next, but currently very tempted by the Air.

  • @tattooedceo
    @tattooedceo Рік тому

    I have MS Plaid and it has the same noise issues from the rear. For me, I had a broken clip on the driver side trim panel and the side booster was not fully seated. This did resolve some of the noise but I ended up putting a lithium grease on both seat latches and that solved the noise issue. I also have an issue with my dash cap where the driver side corner is starting to wear through… Tesla service was going to replace it but the replacement part had the same issue, so Service told me to wait until there’s a part revision or the corner wears all the way through. I only have 8k miles on mine. I love the range and performance but I wish Tesla had better exterior and interior quality control. And for this level of cost, they should. Really not acceptable.

    • @tattooedceo
      @tattooedceo Рік тому

      And on the brake side, I upgraded the lines with brake lines from Unplugged Performance and that made a fairly decent improvement. I’m going to probably upgrade the rotors and pads to Unplugged Performance’s upgrade kit which I’ve heard makes it stop even better and it only costs $1900 versus $20k for the tesla crazy kit.

    I own Teslas since the beginning. Now I own a Model Y, one Model X Perf. and two Plaids (X and S) ordered and waiting. Because of the waiting times I decided to give the EQS a chance but I was a bit torn on „leaving“ Tesla.
    After driving the EQS for a month and now seeing this Plaid review the said truth is even clearer to me: Teslas star is falling. It is sooo much more luxurious and fun to drive the EQS. I would never go back to Tesla now.
    The Model Y is still my wife’s fav car and understandably so. But in terms of „flagship“ the Tesla simply messed it up for me with its quality control issues, comfort and 10y old same design.
    Either way I am thankful for them for relaunching EVs with success. I would not be able to charge my EQS with the sun if it weren’t for them 🙏🏻

    • @konstantinkoos
      @konstantinkoos Рік тому +1

      @@Draxxuzownzu of course. However in terms of comfort and driving experience there is already a big difference now. Don’t think that Plaid will catch up. Also for sportive driving I have the SF90 Spyder with much more fun features and it’s just 0.01 sec slower on track and even faster on the street. So the acceleration part won’t wow me too much. There is only the good old driving experience left. And there the EQS crushed it.
      Also to be honest, the EQS is fast enough too. I found not to be needing much more acceleration than what it has.

    All Tesla vehicles should have powered front trunks, it’s ridiculous how cheap the current designs feel, idc if it raises the price by a grand or 2, the blindspot should also be on the instrument cluster. The only other dealbreaker for me is the stupid horn button. Hopefully build quality has improved since you got the car too.

    If Tesla removes the Key Fob for the Model S and X, my mother can't temporarily access my Model X when she approaches my Model X without first touching the Backup Key Card on the door pillar just below the camera. Fortunately, they kept the Backup Keycards, so my mother can temporarily access my Model X using her Backup Keycard, but it is my complicated than accessing my Model X using Key Fob.

    Sorry but the removal of the center horn is the most egregious, dangerously misguided design change since the inception of the motor vehicle. As an instinct, people race their body for impact and press on the center of the wheel. I’ve had numerous drivers almost hit me and I couldn’t reach the horn in time, or engage windshield wipers instead. This change will certainly lead to more deaths and more accidents. Shameful of downright evil
