Difference between what material is being wrapped. I work with a bunch of different films and have been an installer for the last 15 years. This is a tinted PPF (paint protection film) which is much more expensive than traditional vinyl wrap and especially cheap vinyl. the differences between the two are PPF can withstand an absolute beating from rocks and scrapes and things of that nature, vinyl wrap cannot, it is purely cosmetic while ppf has the benefit of protecting the paint, which in this case only being a stainless steel finish and not paint the reason for using it is to prevent when vinyl would start to tear from abuse. PPF (of a GOOD quality) will last between 5 -10 years and is usually warrantied for 10 years plus from any delamination, peel back, or staining. Vinyl is typically good for 1-5 years maybe if taken care of and just to give an idea of prices even for my shop that is certified in Stek, Ceramic Pro, 3M, Immortal, KPMF, GSWF and NanoLink, a typical roll of colored PPF alone which you would need at least 1 and maybe 1 1/2 to do a Cybertruck is around $1900 - $2200 (trust me, i wish these were lower) a roll alone in material besides any prep material and shop costs. The time it would take one person to do a very very good install would be about 5 days typically, plenty of time to post heat and really make sure everything is as secure as possible, whereas a vinyl wrap would cost me even with good film maybe in the ballpark of $500 for the film for this whole truck, so a PPF wrap on a Cybertruck obviously varies based on place of residence greatly and by a really good installer probably around 6k whereas a Vinyl wrap would be about 3.5-4k. It is not terribly difficult to DIY yourself, especially on this vehicle but at the same time your paying mostly for the experience of the installer (hopefully), the warranty on PPF, and the time dedication and meticulousness. Hope that sheds a little light on it.
What a solid experience and turn out from Tyler and the boyz at Dynamic Tint. My gosh I love my Cybertruck!
You lucky son of a gun, Good Luck and enjoy your new baby!
Hope to see you around Tucson one day!
Enjoyed this episode of The Real UA-camrs of Arizona
🕺🕺 and then "Florida man" back there.... haha
I actually like the name of the episode… that’s pretty awesome 👏🏾
What a transformation. Love the attention to detail
Lollll!! “I just email people for an interview and just introduce myself, hey yo it’s me Kim Java” lmaoooo!! The scream I scrumpt!
$5000, TLDR
That's expensive. Looks super easy to diy for under $1k
Let's get real. Shouldn't be called a wrap. It's an application. Material plus $500 tops for labor.
100% more than I guessed
I got mine done for under 3 with a few extras that are bigger and cooler then using clear ppf scraps on the lights and door buttons 😂
5k that's 2 to 3k add-on for... " u bought a cyber truck " " u got the money "
I just bought one - I love it - can’t wait to wrap it - maybe change yearly for a refresh if I keep it
Good episode. Not too long, not too short, quality content.
Saw the truck yesterday! Wrap job is perfect! Wrap and secured around square done amazing! Less chance of peeling compared to traditional wraps.
tinted ppf is the way to go. Thats what I’ll be getting for mine soon as I get it in about 3 weeks 😁
Explain what tinted PPF is

@@Gjeebs so yt keeps deleting my comment. I assume you know Farzad and Sandy Munro .. well Farzad did a “cybertruck deep dive” collaboration with Sandy 2 days ago and you’ll see one there that’s wrapped in the tinted ppf by Bespoke Paint Protection. I think it looks amazing… let me know what you think.
Edit- I think this comment is sticking !
window "pane protection film"😅@@Gjeebs
@@phenom354 nah.. PPF is made of completely different material than window protection film.
That is just sick!! Great content! I didn’t realize how much Ryan Shaw resembled The Bearded Tesla Guy? 😅
Bro my body shop can paint the Cybertruck a show car quality paint job for $3500 that will last forever.
You should paint one and post a video showing the results and then how it holds up over time
@@Gjeebs would make a good video. But I'm not a UA-camr
@@willieguapojust do that and send it to him. For your personal use, you can take different pictures and post them on your social media in a format “Before & After”.
Not everyone wants a permanent color that’s why wraps are perfect
Problem is that its even more ruined after prime and paintjob
This video got poached by a 12 minute Exxon ad about 5 minutes in. Wouldn’t even let me skip it. Had to start the video over. Thought that was interesting…
That is crazy. Good to know

very nice, is it matte or satin black? and which brand? thanks

Thanks for this video. Isn't he afraid of having black in the AZ summers? How much for the window tinning? get a discount on this with your referral?
I am #12,042 for my Cybertruck order. I have been SAVING money for 5 years to get it.
So ANY content you can do for us (who are of average income) for Cybertruck income would be GREAT.
Also, who is ever doing the work...mention their company name & location LONGER or more often in the videos.....I am not from AZ but here in the winters. Maybe others too who are unfamiliar with the State. Fair??
The weird thing is Paint Protection Film is a misnomer in this case. What paint are we protecting?
some states you cant have a tinted windshield (florida).
You can do a U turn in AZ at a red light so long as you don’t enter the rectangle that would activate a red light camera . Generally if the painted lines or concrete dividers go close to the pedestrian crossing, it will be illegal for a U turn but if the lines fall short of the ped crossing, you can fit a U turn without entering the rectangle and it legal
Thank you
The rationale is that you are not in the intersection. My advice for danger free Phoenix travel: NEVER MAKE A U TURN. Make a couple of regular turns and live.
My Raptor cost 10k for Xpel Stealth. Can’t wait to get my CyberBeast
I finally got my beast a month ago and I love it
Sweet. It looks great. When I stop being a cheapskate and get a wrap. I know where I am going 💯
@greggertruck needs to start cranking out content- EVERYONE wants to see this beast ! Any content will sell
You can U-turn at a red light in AZ as long as you're not entering the intersection in any way
Best wrap and best color ever. Thank you.
7:58 I'll get my hair colored reveal in 2 weeks 😂
Appreciate the transparency in pricing. I was considering ordering mine with Tesla using their wrap, but this gives me more color options.
At the very beginning, what kind of tape are you using to transfer that decal? I’ve been having difficulty getting my decals to stick to the tape and not their lining.
I still don't understand why wraps cost so much... Maybe I am just cheap, but $5k, to me it should be like $2500.
Because he got ripped off. TSportline charges 2700 using 3M material.
@@PersonalUseChannel interesting, I check them, it’s around $5k for a 3M wrap with the cybertruck in both Georgia and California.
@@CHITECHDUDE it's on sale
@@CHITECHDUDE It's on sale?
Embarrassing
i owned a tint and wrap shop so it costs me only $1600 for PPF materials. Color wrap materials are cheaper. Window tint ceramic films cost $60 to $200 depend on what brand you use.
I’m an old guy and I don’t know anything about wraps, and I really don’t get the attraction of a wrap over a paint job. How long does a wrap last? When the plastic wrap starts to fray, does it look like hell? What’s your view of a wrap versus a paint job?
From what I’ve seen, wraps tend to be easier and cheaper to do while also providing protection. In this case, he’s installing a PPF which is better than a wrap because it provides that protection to the paint (or in this case the lack thereof) underneath.
The wraps allow for much more interesting colors and patterns. A lot of people want it for business promotion. Colors can also be much more vibrant and you get some of those reflective finishes. It just gives you different options and some protection
@@VadersFirst Thanks for your reply. I get all that. But what about when the wrap starts to peel or fray? Does it last 10 years? Do people just rip them off when they start to peel off? I haven’t seen an example of a wrap getting old, but I can imagine that it would look horrible. If that happens after a year, after spending all that money, I’d be pretty angry about it. So what’s your opinion of the lifetime of a wrap and what happens when it starts to unravel and fall off the car? Thanks.
@@flyshacker I'd assume that yeah if you have just a wrap that isn't high quality it would probably start to tear and or peel at some point, mainly in high-impact areas such as the front. The nice thing I guess is that you can just rip it off and redo the wrap in that part. Sure you can spot paint as well but it's really hard to match unless you repaint the entire vehicle. It's also nice if you want to restore it back to the way you bought it since you can just remove the wrap.
I don't know how long they last, especially things like PPF which are supposed to last longer. Maybe they last a long time and maybe they don't, I really have no idea.
I guess with the Cybertruck the draw is that it will protect the stainless steel and it's easier to do than painting all of it. With regular cars PPF also makes sense because you get the benefit of paint while also adding a little extra protection so that paint doesn't get damaged. Being able to take the vehicle's stock color and make it matte is also a pretty big draw.
@@VadersFirst good points. It still seems hazardous when it starts to peel. Every time you wash your car more of it would peel off and dangle there or flap in the breeze, looking worse than if you never wrapped it. The longevity is my big concern. Yep you could replace the damaged wrap or PPF but you are spending thousands more just to keep it looking good. I dunno. Sure raises red flags for me!
@@flyshacker Yeah I think there's pros and cons. Replacing it though would be just the ripped part, so it wouldn't cost nearly as much to maintain it. Depending on the part too it's not the most complicated thing to install yourself with limited equipment
On my cyber truck I paid 3k here Indianapolis and 300 for tint
Psssst, there's no paint. Why would you put PPF on it?
We did it because the film itself is strong and won't tear. Once it tears it looks bad so just reducing that risk
so how much was it?
Ryan Shaw is a goober😂
Great to know. Thank you for insight.
Adhesives get soft and loose the ability to stick when it is 90 degrees. At 90 degrees the black in direct sunlight , will register 160-180 degrees. Keep your Dark Color Cybertruck in the shade, the adhesive won't hold past 140 degrees in Arizona sun.
He has wrapped thousands of cars with no issues. Do you have more experience doing this? Would love to have you on the channel to explain!
What brand and tint percentage on windshield, front windows., rear windows & glass roof (if the roof was done) ? how much for the whole tint job? also was it 5k for the ppf? or is it 5k just for vinyl and you paid more for ppf?
5k for the black PPF. All XPEL tint including the roof. I would give Tyler a call on pricing for the tint I don't remember
I don't think we need to care about rock chips on the body of the CT. If the vinyl wrap itself can't handle it, then sure get the ppf. Otherwise we are wrapping to protect a bulletproof(ish) car?
Nice, more than likely give the rig many years of longevity.
Wow, what does this guy do for work/money that he has such expensive cars and wraps? Surprising to see people with so much disposable quid.
Not bad at all❤
The Cybertruck on it's on is so dope. Well unless your old or ignorant LOL. Adding black to it pissed on the haters even more. YES YES YES!!!
thanks for letting us know the price, everything is always a secret on cost and I guess if you have to ask
Love your work but the cybertruck? 😂there's a sucker born every day😂
$5K not bad at all considering the size of the vehicle. I want to get a quote for my C7 Z06 it better be cheaper since it's a much smaller vehicle
Paint it and forget “wrapping” it! 🤣
Looking at all these cars and shit one can do in US just makes me wanna move there. I tried to wrap my X5 where I live, I found 1 shop and they didn’t even reply to my email
Man how do I get one 😭
I definitely wasn’t a fan of the stainless steal. The wrap makes it look a lot better.
Some assembly required.
Dude just show the truck with the wrap on it
the worst color reveal ever they didn't even show how the car look like afterwards in full image
Could make an interesting Batmobile 😆
If your serious off road a wrap is stupid money
Looks like they shot primer on it. Black car in AZ.. Hmm..
🔥🔥🔥
2:40 false. blacked out tint has more infrared rejection. 75% and 5% are not the same.
5k is a lot of money especially after dropping so much to get the vehicle. I just think you lose that depreciation the minute you drive off the lot then 5k on a wrap. UA-camrs spend that money for content but that’s a lot for average person.
Ryan Shaw 😂 💀
So does that film wrap around the edges? And what if it’s colored ppf?
yes it wraps around the edges
@ryanshaw you grew out your hair!
probably the easiest car on the market to wrap as well.
Lipstick on a pig. Should be an easy wrap with the flat panels, but wonder how it will last at the sharp corners. Wraps may last only 3 yrs in the Western sun, and removing the remnants can be tedious (costly). Vinyl-wrapping stainless panels should be another of Elon's genius.
awsome video @geebs
spelling....
Thank you
Wow😮
It only last 5 to 7 years? Thats too expensive.
If I ever get one its going to be black or red.
Sorry but that's excessive for the time and equipment required.
I've seen restaurants with the same shape garbage bins 😂
I got my Model X wrapped. I was told no more mechanical car washes, only hand wash🧽🫧. Also be 3 feet away with a self wash high pressure sprayer.
I was told the PPF film is guaranteed 10 years, if you follow care guidelines. And they can tell by characteristics of the damage.
In addition, the car still has to be cleaned of bird droppings, can damage the film.
On top of the PPF, I had a ceramic liquid coating put on. This only lasts 2-3 years. Now this helps protect the PPF. It’s also hydrophobic to water. 💦 I would add it makes hand washing easier. Sometimes, you can just dry wipe the dirt off.
I think the PPF was worth it because the original paint was accumulating paint chips.
Also the wrap I choose changed the metallic blue to a flat, satin finish which is a totally different look, so looks like a new color.
I’ll redo the PPF in 10 years, along with possibly a new battery for the next 10 years.
All that plus UV tint for windshield and front windows was a little over k8k
I got my PPF done at Blackout Tinting. They are in Pgh, Pa; Miami, & St Louis. They do good work. They also have UA-cam channel and show lots of different PPFs and wraps.
Fact: A wrap lasts about 2 years. Paint lasts 10+ years. Why don’t people see the logic here? 🤔…😜
This is PPF not a wrap
@@Gjeebs Google “PPF” cons then decide if it’s worth it.👍
@@Gjeebs PPF, Good 5 to 10 years and may discolor.
I love it already just like I love you!
Paint protection film ? It is stainless steel, extremely hard alloy, how do you justify more expensive film on stainless steel ?
Because the film itself is more durable and won't cut like a wrap would. Once it starts to cut it looks bad
@@Gjeebs You're missing the point of the question. Why add anything when the stainless is already more durable than any film or wrap or paint?
Ryan Shaw 😂😂
